Unable to unlock bootloader - Xiaomi Mi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone
Before creating this thread, I have searched a lot both in XDA and the Xiaomi official forum and I wasn't able to find an answer for my issue...
The thing is, I've purchased a Mi Note 3, China version and it came with the GLOBAL ROM and a Locked bootloader so the chinese store that I've bought from must have installed that in some unofficial way.
Now I want to unlock the bootloader... I already bounded my Mi account to the device, enabled OEM unlock in Developer area, but in Mi Unlock Tool I keep receaving the message at 50% that the device is already unlocked, which is not the case.
I'm not sure what to do... I already updated to the latest GLOBAL ROM 9.5.3.0 but still I can't seem to unlock it....
Also, when I enter FASTBOOT mode and try to "fastboot device-info" to check the status, the CMD Prompt doesn't respond... it seems the command is not received to the phone, only "fastboot devices" work...
Fastboot drivers seem to be ok... I'm using Windows 10 x64 1803 update.
I have no idea what the chinese did to this phone... but the ROM is original, as it updated itself to the latest version...

Interesting.... Can you flash twrp ?

I was able to pin point the problem... apparently Xiaomi drivers and apps don't like Ryzen and AMD chipset very much... I've tried the same thing in my laptop (Intel) and it worked... same Windows 10 x64....
That's very weird... I'm not sure if it's something related to drivers.... anyways, now it's unlocked!
Thanks!

usb hub its the solution
hi, i've solved the iusse with a simple USB 2.0 hub, i have got an AMD ryzen 7 1800.

mi mix 2s / destroyed because of flashing - NEED HELP PLS?

hello, im new in this forum.
i have a mi mix 2s and i wanted to unlock it. mi unlock tool said: device already unlocked..
so I started the flash tool with a global and I think i forgot to switch from "clean all and lock" to "clean all"
so the phone booted in the recovery and said "this version cant be installed on this device"
now I cant do anything...i tried with
- Xiaomi Tool (doesnt works because of usb debugging isnt enabled)
-xiaomi unlock tool says i have to sign in to my account on the device
-Xiomi flash tool (Erase boot error), i tried the official gloabl and china
-adb mode knows my device but no flashing
A friend says there is now software on it. but i dont know
I CAN go to fastboot and i can go to the recovery 3.0
PLS help me! Thank you so much
Try to flash twrp, do factory reset with encryption. Then flash rom with adb sideload
If you have the XE model (which is the Chinese model) and locked your bootloader after flashing the Global ROM your phone is bricked. The Chinese model can't boot up the Global ROM with a locked bootloader. If that's what you did I don't think there is a solution. You need to unlock the bootloader again but if the unlock tool doesn't work I don't know of another option with these phones.

There was a case like this in the miui forum. The guy there contacted xiaomi support and with their help he could unlock the bootloader without signing in
@sidofido
Do I need usb Debugging for your method?
Usb Debugging does not works
@Flatric
Okay so I send an email to the Support.
Thank you very much, Im happy for every answer

That's apparently true but there were also at least a half dozen people who contacted Xiaomi Support after reading that and reported that they received no help. They are currently trying to get the name of the specific support person who unlocked the bootloader.
That doesnt Sound good... Where can I get Support? I Used [email protected], is that the right way?

There are threads about this issue on the MIUI Forum. Someone else said today that Xiaomi Support bound his account to his device which allowed him to use the Unlock Tool. It seems to be very hit or miss in regards to getting somebody in support who understands the issue. You should really go to the Xiaomi Forum for the MI Mix 2S. Only Xiaomi can help you and you will get better information there regarding this issue.
I want to flash my Mix 2s from Android P back to Miui 9.5. I purchased the phone with P already installed, does anyone know how I can flash it successfully? I am new at this. my phone says unlocked underneath the xiaomi name when I turn it on so I think its unlocked bootloader? but its not rooted any help would be greatly appreciated

You might be able to fix your issue by flashing the ROM using the MI PC Suite Beta program. That program allows you to flash a ROM when the bootloader is locked but I don't know much about it. Someone in a similar situation as you claimed he got his phone running again using that program.

Using the MI Flash Tool on your computer is probably the easiest way. Download the latest stable ROM if you want to go back to MIUI 9.5. You need the MI Flash version that ends in extension tgz--not the fastboot version which is a zip file. Uncompress the tgz file, put your phone in fastboot mode and connect it to your computer, open the MI Flash Tool on your computer with administrative access. It should detect your phone. If it doesn't I think there is a refresh button. After your phone is detected point the program to the location of the uncompressed ROM folder. Before you flash look at the options at the very bottom. The default will relock your bootloader so you might want to change that. When you hit flash the tool does everything automatically and returns your phone to stock MIUI.
So..... Miui Support says I have to go to the seller....
The guy in miui forum who solved said, he just tried the latest unlock tool and it works.
I Tried lots of Tools, the latest too and it doesnt Work.
So my Phone is destroyed now?

hi, any success?

Flash & Unbrick Mi MIX 2S by Test Point Method!

First of all, i apologize for my bad english.
this method will help you to unbrick your Mi Mix 2s!
from :
1. The system has been destroyed
2. "This MIUI can't be installed on this device"
3. Locked Bootloader in global/ china ROM
4. Etc
how to do :
1. Remove the back panel of the phone
2. Do test point #below the rear camera
3. Flash it with MiFlash2018-5-28-0
*before you flash, go to MiFlash2018 Folder -> Mi -> account_auth.exe
login with Authorized Mi Account (thanks for redmi note 5/pro ARP cases)
4. do flash
5. wait for done
6. enjoy ur mi mix 2s again!!!
Basically everyone on the official Xiaomi Support Threads for the Mix 2S says this does not work. Not almost everybody--every single person that has tried it and left a comment about their experience. All you will do if you follow these instructions is permanently destroy your phone and if that is your intention smashing it repeatedly with a hammer is faster and easier.
Sorry, I did for my phone, and it's works
And now I am replying from my mix 2s,
It was bricked XE model with locked bootloader in global rom. Just flash with China rom, and the key is mi flash 2018 with authorized mi account which we posted in miui Russia forum to get authorized for bricked arp redmi note 5 pro

I bought this bricked phone from someone, XE model, he flashed to global rom and forgot to choose Clear All, he check Clear and Lock in Mi Flash,
Then the phone is bootloop for a month, he tried to flash, etc with any methods, flash recovery, etc
That's how his phone system destroyed
Sorry for my bad english
If your system says it got destroyed it isn't destroyed it only locked the bootloader and that means you have to unlock it again to access the rom.
@jhs39 and ryan mixed: You´re absolutely right: Due to a failed flash to Android P, my Mix2s got hardbricked -
only showing 'The system is destroyed' - the bootloader was re-locked - only Fastboot was working.
I was able to re-unlock the bootloader by using the latest MiUnlockTool ( the older ones got stuck at 50%... )
- after that, the phone was booting again and everything was OK. My experience is: forget all workarounds with
deepflash cables, testpoint aso - the possibility to damage the hardware of the phone is excessive and they won´t
lead to success. The only way to get it working again is to unlock the bootloader! And this is working not depending
if usb debugging is enabled or you got ´find my phone´ enabled in your mi.account,....

Hm, maybe we´re going to be a bit OT - I read the mentioned thread - who needs five mi accounts?
I have only one for my three registered Mi´s. I did the re-unlock of my Mix2s two weeks ago and
I checked it again before writing this - it still has permission. So, maybe there are other reasons why
Xiaomi has revoked some people´s accounts permission? Maybe depending on the age of the
account, the region, or they reglement the number? IDK. Only Xiaomi knows...

For backup, cause of hardbrick of redmi note 5 anti rollback, no fastboot, no recovery, etc, the only way is to flash in edl for ubl devices, otherwise for non ubl devices we do test point, not permission to unlock, but permission to flash in edl mode.
Try miflash 2018,go to "mi" folder, login with your account, see unauthorized or authorized.
OK, arb can be a bad trap for owners of redmi note 5, but is it also
applicable to the Mix2s? As I wrote, I used the 'old' miflash_unlock
( ver. 3.3.525.23 ) and after that I flashed from failed Android P to
global dev. and then again to Android P using XiaoMiFlash
( ver. 2017.4.25.0 ). And honestly, I´m a bit scared of trying a new
tool...

I mean the flashing method, not about ARB.
I used that method for my bricked mi mix 2s,
XE model with Locked BL in global rom,
Just fastboot and recovery,
Bootloop,
Everytime i flash with MI PC Suite 3.0 beta, it's detected as Global or XA model, when i flashed, phone bricked again.
I do try unlock BL again, and got message "this account is not bound to device or something like that" in Mi Unlock
So i downloaded MiFlash 2018 + borrow authorized mi account,
Do test point by opening rear side,
Then flashed China Stable or Developer Rom & my phone is up again
I guess your phone is XA, not XE
Sorry, but @Pfofeldix is right. I have the XE model and once I locked the bootloader while being on Global ROM. Phone went softbricked of course, but I used Mi Unlock to unlock it and it went back to life again. Then I've done the whole procedure multiple times and during every single one of them I was able to "revive" my phone.
There's no point in destroying the phone when you can achieve the same outcome with the phone intact, left alone that some people say that the testpoint method doesn't work.
I don't know why some people can't relock and unlock again, but it definitely is possible if you did everything right in the first place.

Because you can unlock it before, when it unlocked, of course you can flash to any rom.
The problem was my phone Locked in hardbrick state,
Mi account not bound to device.
that's why i do test point, i didn't suggest people to destroy their phone, i do for my phone and it back to life. It's ok, i just want to share.

That's a different situation. The person who posted that had 5 accounts. I've used the same MI Account to unlock the bootloader on all 4 of the Xiaomi devices that I've owned. If you got caught using multiple accounts to request bootloader unlock I think Xiaomi always deauthorized the accounts.

Oneplus 7 pro bricked bootloader lock

Hi guys I have a OP 7 pro bricked (boot loop), I try everything to un bricked, that is why I ask for any help. I use msm tool and install several zips but when the tool finish it still have the same problem, I can access to the fastboot mode but my bootloader is locked, so I cannot try the fastboot method cause my pc won't recognize when I connect my phone in this mode (I think that's because I need to have enable usb debugging).
I've got bad news, if your bootloader is locked and MSM tool fails you will most likely have to send it in as it will no longer be easily fixable, I unfortunately had this same issue on my OnePlus 8 and learnt the hard way.
You said that you "cannot try the fastboot method" because your PC won't recognize your phone... did you install Oneplus fastboot drivers correctly? You should be able to access your phone in fastboot, even with bootloader locked.
Try with another PC too. Just my 2 cents, sorry if this doesn't help you...

I though that too, but i didn't do it , maybe is because I read that in order to use this method (fastboot), oem unlock and usb debugging have to be enable on my OP 7 PRO
Ps: today I'll try again whit another pc, maybe it works, I think the Qualcomm drivers, adb drivers and OP drivers are a nightmare, who knows how many I've been downloaded those in order to make everything right

Question Can´t access to fastboot

I am trying to unlock my nord ce 2 bootloader but everytime I try to access bootloader mode, it says something like Unlock_Verify_device ok and then reboots
how can I unlock the bootloader? Same happens on my nord 2. Oem unlocking is enabled and I have no selection of advanched startup options. I have magisk boot.img to flash
Can't say I experienced that myself. The message you got looks promising. The 'unlock_verify_device ok' message means you're getting to fastboot. But I'm not sure why it's rebooting. Do you have enough time to run the command 'fastboot devices'?
Also, what version is your firmware?
Here is the guide I used when I was unlocking the bootloader: https://www.droidwin.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-oneplus-nord-ce-2/
I am running android 12 beta on oxygenos
Edit: fastboot doesn´t even find the device
Oh, now it tells that serial is not match. what's going on?
so? Can anyone help? Phone keeps saying that serial is not match and then reboots. Is this phone just a joke or something? Gonna buy samsung if yes.
What model is your phone? I wasn't aware of the Android 12 beta being available for the Nord CE 2. Another thing to try is this tutorial to manually install the OnePlus drivers: https://www.droidwin.com/fix-android-device-not-showing-in-fastboot-mode/
Was looking on the nord ce 1 xda Forum. It's only recently that a few roms and twrp are starting to appear, so there is hope. IMO oneplus need to take £$50 off the price, more users = more chance of getting more development

Hi everyone, any update on this? Did someone manage to unlock the bootloader?
If I'm not mistaken. You can rollback to android 11 to get it back.
I'm currently facing the same problem, so I tried rolling back and have downloaded over 20 rollback zips now, and extracted them. All won't work, it reboots in recovery. And it is like fastboot just doesn't exist. So yeah they probably messed it up.
I'm so sad, I switched from Iphone to Oneplus partly because of the rooting options. So sad
Can I do this trough adb or not?

You don't extract it though. You just rename it by removing the _Rollback at the end.
