Samsung Galaxy S8+ rSAP and Audi MMI - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I just got an Audi A5 with MMI 3G+ (it has no sim slot) and I can connect the phone to bluetooth but I can't share the data connection with the mmi, which is something I'd really like for Google Maps and traffic info etc.
I've read that you need rSAP to connect, and while the option to connect to the device as 'Car Phone' is enabled whenever I try to connect using my non-rooted phone I just get 'Connection failed'. Do I need to root my S8+ to be able to connect in this way or is there something I'm missing?

No ideas?

Same problem here...

Is it a dual SIM? Rsap is dodgy, the car does not know which SIM to use and gets confused..I went thru 5 dual SIM phones all failed or no car phone option. S8 plus single SIM worked..
But I have a SIM slot in my car
You need phone prep high I think.
Your car has no antenna to use a sim. So Car phone Bluetooth mode is useless.
I have A7 black edition. But worked in a5black edition. Tech pack high I had. Both have SIM slots.
Once it's connected to phone in car phone mode it uses 4g and you can use cars WiFi to share data too like a hotspot..so I connect my phone to that so I can still use data on my phone.... oh and Google maps and Audi connect work...which is useless.
Sorry.

S8+ bluetooth rSAP
I've been trying to solve this problem ever since the update to Android 8 came out about 6 months ago, out of the box my S8+ was running android 7 and it was flawless, rSAP and everything else.
I've tried factory reset (suggested by Samsung support ) and networks reset and all I get is the same behavior :
It'll first connect to the car in rSAP mode then disconnects in 2 minutes and reconnect in hands free mode and every now and then it will disconnect and reconnect again in hands free
Phone calls and streaming music is in poor quality
Sorry I can't help you much but all I can tell you from the many forums I read it's quite common problem with the S8+ on Android 8

App for controling second Phone calls via BT

Hi, some time ago I bumped on a program on WM that was able to control and forward my second phone (ericsson t610) calls via BT to my primary headset. Since I'm using 2 sim cards for my personal and business calls I really hate dealing with 2 phones. Can you direct me to a program that can connect to my stupid second phone and can take and make calls via BT, so my second phone sits in my pocket while I control it whit my HTC HD.
P.S. If there is any possible way of connect via INTERNET to my 2nd phone and use it by TCP/IP or voice over ip somehow it will be even better because I have 3G internet connection pack to my Operator and quite a lot of MB to waste. Of course we should think of a way to connect my second phone (or just sim) to a home internet connection.
Thanks in advance guys, you are the best!
Guys? Anybody?

Portable hotspot issues with car wifi

Hi,
I've joined this forum to try and get some help with this along with any future issues as it looks like there's a smart bunch of people on here...
Please do move this to the appropriate area if I've put it in the wrong place.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 on a UK 'Three' contract.
However I recently bought a new car which has a WLAN feature - basically what it does is connects to your phone's portable hotspot, then broadcasts that internet connection on it's own in-car hotspot for passengers to connect to.
The benefit (because at first glance you think "why bother - why not just connect those devices straight to the phone's hotspot?") is that once the car connects to your phone's hotspot it uses the car's antenna to receive data etc which means you get a stronger and more consistent data connection.
So, the issue:
My portable hotspot works fine when connecting a device such as laptop/iPad etc directly to the phone.
However when I connect the car to my personal hotspot, and then a device to the car, it all connects up okay but I get errors on the end-user device saying that there's no internet connection.
I have done quite a lot of testing with this - for example in the following situations it works perfectly for the end-user devices - just never with my S7!!
- Connecting the car to my girlfriend's iPhone SE hotspot (on the same network)
- Connecting the car to my friend's S7 (on the same network?!!)**
- Connecting the car to my home WiFi whilst on the drive
**Interestingly, my friend's S7 was bought separately so had a pure Samsung build on it - mine came from Three so had a load of Three crap on it.
So, to tackle that, yesterday I did a cache wipe and factory data reset, then entered download mode and using Odin, loaded on the latest version of Nougat including all the new BL/AP/CP/CSC files.
Then me and my friend swapped SIM cards to see if that could be the issue, we tried using both phones. None of it worked, and now even his phone with his SIM card in it (which previously worked) no longer works with the car's WLAN.
It still doesn't work and it's driving me mad
Today I'm going to try messing with APN settings because I've read that changing the APN type to just "default" has solved some similar issues to this but without the 'middle-man' car in the middle.
I've also called Three and asked them to send me a replacement SIM card.
I'm sure it is NOT the car that's the issue, as it has worked fine on some devices.
I'm sure it is NOT the Three network that's the issue, as it has worked on 2 other devices on that network.
I suspect it's either some sort of config that needs changing, or the hardware of the phone is faulty.
I have a "remote management session" with Samsung support later today, but I don't expect them to be able to help with this remotely
Any thoughts or ideas here would be greatly appreciated, I'm sorry I've written so much but wanted to include all the info.
Thanks, Andrew

Problems with 3G Sticks

hi,
im using erisin 4046 MTCD KGL with 5.1.1
every Stick i tried (huaweis Exxx) wont work out of box.
Sometimes the Stick works on 50% bootups
and sometypes loses the internet connection while am driving trough a good connection area.
Im already using an active USB-Hub with external power from radio ACC and GND, so thaths couldnt be the problem?
Also interesting: Some Sticks appears as 3G Bar-Icon like Wlan and some two-pc-icon.
Is there a way to reset the Stick trough app/terminal?
I cant disconnect the stick while drive because its included behind the radio.
Sticks with sd slot are shown as a drive and did not work for me.
Without I got the same problems. Huawei offers an app. So you can reboot via this.
At the moment using a mobile Wlan hot-spot from Huawei. Works much better.

none of the sticks were shown as SD-Slots.
What you mean with app for reboot? Reboot entire device or simply the stick?
Could you show/explain me the wlan hotspot you mean?
This stick did not work correctly = Huawei E355.
This hot-spot works good = Huawei E5330.
This app controls both = Huawei hikink. See play store.

so this means:
if i have a LTE Card, i could also use a 4G hotspot?
but i have no idea which is supported..
okay easy:
Huawei e5577 is that what i want LTE
I am using a Huawei E1750 with deactivated CD Drive and SD Slot and it works like a charm!
Use this AT command: AT^U2DIAG=0
(further info: http://www.3g-modem-wiki.com/page/Huawei+AT-commands)
how to set these commands?
trough terminal?
Hello,
I tested a few modems and every time there were problems on the route. Modems often lost their reach and did not connect again. You had to disconnect and reconnect it. On the 650 km route the internet was maybe 20% off the route.
I am fully satisfied only after the purchase of Huawei E5573. Connected via USB is turned on only when the radio is turned on. When turned off the radio turns itself off after one hour. The Internet transmits to the radio via USB. Of course WIFI works for other devices. The same way as with previous modems - 90% of connections. All the way 650 km I listened to TuneIn Radio. It broke 4 times in total.
Summarizing:
- KIANO Q7600 - Only 3G, often lost their reach
- Huawei E173u-2 - Only 3G, often lost their reach
- Huawei E3131 - Only 3G, often lost their reach
Huawei E5573 - LTE/3G/2G - Very good reach.
The HUAWEI E3372 LTE Surfstick is also working perfect. It's not showing if you have a 3G or 4G Connection in the Status Bar, just the Network Symbol. Important, you have to disable PIN Authentification for the SIM Card first in the HUAWEI Software or it does not work with your Unit. Typing 192.168.8.1 in your Unit Webbrowser, you can access the Stick Webinterface where you can check the Connection and so on.
thats realy annoying...
i modded two huawei sticks E173 and E303 including modem firmware update with the command AT^U2DIAG=0
but still connection/mini icon loss
i realy think about E5577 wlan hotspot solution...
Hi, many LTE units appear as network cards to android, thus you see a two computers icon in the starus bar instead of a radio signal icon.
When you use these LTE sticks, you are unable to use wifi for two reasons: first because the radio is unable to connect to any hotspot (I don't know why) and second because ever a wired network is preferred over a wifi network. This is sometimes a problem just because LTE is not a wited connection, but android thinks so, and you cannot use wifi anymore...
UPDATE: I've noticed that on the new android version of my Erisin HU 20161220, is possible to use wifi while LTE stick is connected, and android prefers wifi over LTE.

I have the exakt same issues. We should collect logs and send them to the support.
im already in touch with erisin support, they mean all sticks are bad... (haha) only official erisin sticks are supported.
When im thinking about their official DAB+ antenna which isnt working... haha bad news for all erisin devices
My best practice way is actually:
-active USB-Hub with external 12v power
-usb cable extender away from any radio/magnet field/heat (on bmw e46, behind the speedometer) and then plugged in huawei E173 with newest firmware (appears as 3G icon)
we should donate to @Malaysk for a good rom for RK3288 / PX5 unites.
@Malaysk
i've bought a huawei 5577C and will integrate it into car.
i think that will resolve all f**** 3G issues.
i will feedback after 1-2weeks of using

Hi buddy,
Some questions for you as I am thinking about buying the same router.
Does it turn on when you start your car?
Does it work without battery?
Does it kind of go to sleep when you are not using it?
I'm on E3131 with firmware from Hilink version, works really good but it's bit slow cause it's only 3G and I miss WiFi that I could you use to mirror my iOS device.
I also have E5251 but it sometimes need to be reset for the wifi to work (even if it's connected via USB)

I just ordered an Huawei E5573. Attaching just a "modem stick" really sucked.
Did you manage to operate the router without the battery, just powered by USB? It does not start when I remove the battery....

Bluetooth Tethering Issue

Hi,
I have recently (last week) joined the OnePlus party by getting myself the 7 Pro after being with Samsung since the S2 days.
I like the phone but there are a few issues I am having.
The main issue I am having is the Bluetooth Tethering. I need this for when I am in my car (Mercedes use this method for internet connectivity). I switch it on and try to connect but after a while it just tells me that the data connection is temporarily unavailable. My mobile data works fine so I'm assuming that isn't the issue. When I am parked on my drive and in range of my home WiFi and I try and connect the connection is successful. It is as if the phone is blocking the mobile data connection when accessing via bluetooth tethering. This wasn't an issue on my Note 9 using the same SIM.
Does anybody have a fix for this or are having similar issues? If this cannot work then it is a deal breaker for me and I'll be reluctantly returning the phone to Amazon.
On a side note I have even tried changing the dun status via ADB Shell after finding what was supposed fix online but it did not help.
Thanks
I am no Bluetooth expert, and it may not apply here, but there are a number of various Bluetooth settings that can be altered in the Developers setting. Maybe something there can help???
Hi Jaseman,
I shall look into that. Currently doing a full backup of the phone to my PC before doing a downgrade from Android 10 to 9. I'm hearing that 10 is buggy so I'm hoping that is the culprit.
Thank you for your reply.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Bluetooth connection problems

Hey guys,
So basically I drive a 2016 Volvo V70 (car model not so important tbh) and before I got my Galaxy N20U I used to have an iPhone 8+.
At the time when I connected it to my car's bluetooth system, things used to run quite perfectly when playing music. Using the car's buttons I could rewind and fast-forward songs by pressing and holding in apps like Spotify.
Now with the Galaxy N20U, answering calls works sorta well, and I can skip songs forwards and backwards by short-pressing the car buttons, BUT I can't "slide" or "seek" the tracks, as in fast-forward or backwards, like I used to be able to do with the iPhone. I did all sorts of basic troubleshooting like unpairing and repairing the phone, resetting, trying other music players; but the problem still persists.
I messed around with the bluetooth connection type in Developer Mode settings on the Galaxy, but tbh I don't really understand what the settings mean or which one should be right. I'm not really aware what bluetooth version my car has either, but I think it would be an older version since it's 2014-2016 technology.
How can I fix it or tune the settings of the Galaxy in order to solve this? Or are there any apps I could install which fixes this issue?
Another problem with the Galaxy's BT connection is with my Windows 10 laptop. It's a pretty new laptop (HP Spectre 15 x360 2019) running the latest version of Windows 10.
Basically I did what everyone would do and I linked my Samsung to Windows, so I could have a similar continuity experience like Mac/iPhones have, like having a stable and automatic connection, picking up calls and texts from your laptop, and most importantly that your phone shares hotspot automatically through Bluetooth tethering when you're outside of home.
I tried several things like linking and unlinking through Microsoft's "Link Your Phone", and even tried with Samsung's Dex. I tried with both functions on, or one of them being unlinked.
The problem still persists, that it's not an automated and constant connection between the laptop and the phone, and that especially when it comes to automatic bluetooth tethering; then I always have to do it manually through clicking through several menus on Windows and creating an Access Point connecting to Bluetooth like some sort of a LAN connection. Every single time. And even when this connection is established, I'd see a LAN icon on the status bar (instead of signal bars) and when I expand the menu, it doesn't even list the current connection it is on (like "Samsung bla bla bla: Connected"). Instead I just get nearby WiFi networks and that it's searching. I DO get internet though and it works fine for the most part, but once I leave the room and the phone gets out of the range, or I put the laptop to standby, then I have to repeat the process all over again.
Even when I opt to sharing internet from my phone to the laptop through normal WiFi hotspot, I notice that the connection drops frequently.
To summarize, when it comes to both the car and my laptop, my Galaxy N20U does connect to them and offers the basic functionalities of the BT connection, BUT it misses other basic functionalities and it tends to be a half-baked, unstable connection.
Please help me out with this! Running the latest versions of softwares on all the named devices here.
For now turn off Developer options.
Clear the system cache on the boot menu
Reset network connections.
Pretty harmless and it may fix it...
dont have that problem
