Best Custom ROMs for Android
LineageOS
LineageOS is a well-known name in the Custom ROM category. If you have ever used custom ROMs on any Android device, then you must have heard the name of the CyanogenMod. In 2016, the developer of CyanogenMod ROM stopped the development of CyanogenMod ROM, but later they released the CyanogenMod ROM with a new name named LineageOS. So LineageOS is not new to the custom ROM category. A LineageOS is one of the best and No.1 ROM because the ROM is available for the wide range of Smartphones. The Custom ROM is made by the most prominent developer’s team and supports the community.
LineageOS official android Pie update is released for many devices. If we talk about the feature of the ROM, LineageOS comes with little bit customization yes the customization is limited on the LineageOS. If you want a fully stable version of LineageOS, then install the official and Nightly build of the LOS ROM. However, the Android Pie Update of LineageOS ROM released for many devices but currently, most of them are Unofficial. So you may get minor bugs and issues in the ROM. Overall the performance of the stable update of LineageOS is mind-blowing. LineageOS supports 200+ devices, so I hope your device will be included in the list.
Pixel Experience ROM
ixel Experience is the new Rom in the custom ROM category, but this Pixel Experience has gained popularity in a very short time. PE ROM is based on AOSP ROM, with Google Gapps included. As the name suggests the ROM exactly looks like and work like the Google Pixel ROM. ROM comes with the latest Gapps, so Google Pixel launcher, wallpaper, ringtones, fonts, and boot animation are built in this ROM.
If we talk about the Pixel Experience ROM performance, the PE Rom works very smoothly on any android device. Personally, I tried the Pixel Experience ROM on my Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5, Zenfone Max Pro M1, Redmi Note 5 Pro. Apart from that, you can get the full Google Pixel Experience in this ROM. If we talk about the customization the ROM support some basic customization like the Theme, always on display, Pixel blue accent color, etc. Like the LineageOS, PE ROM does not support the wide range of devices. However, if you are a Xiaomi device user, then it is likely that pixel ROMs are available for your device. Apart from that unofficial update is available for many Android devices but you may face some issues and bugs on the unofficial ROM.
CrDroid ROM
crDroid is designed to improve the customizability, performance, and reliability of the stock Android ROMIf you have ever used the Resurrection Remix ROM then you must know the RR Rome’s Customization option. Just like the Resurrection Remix ROM the crDroid also support the High level of customization. CrDroid Support the Status bar, Quick Settings, Lock Screen, Buttons, Navigation, Sound, Recent Screen Customization. Currently, the ROM support the 90+ devices and 30+ devices support the android Pie updates. With CrDroid, you not only get many customizations, but it also offers you real pixel experience. The android Pie update of the crDroid comes with the Google Gcam Camera app. , So if you want to tweaks with your Android device, then the crDroid ROM is for you.
Havoc-OS
The next rom in the list is Havoc-OS. ROM is becoming popular day by day and supports many Android devices. The stable version which running on android Pie released for many android devices. The Havoc OS also support the lots of customization like the CrDroid ROM. Apart from customization the Battery backup and the Network of the ROM is still better than the other android Pie based custom ROMs. I tried this ROM on my Zenfone Max Pro M1, and the ROM works very perfectly on it. The Performance of the ROM is outstanding. The customization is limitless in the Havoc OS ROM. You can select the Theme, Customize the Notification Panel, Animations, and so on. Overall the ROM is perfect in all terms if you want a feature pack rom then once try out the Havoc ROM on your android device.
AOSP Extended ROM
AOSP Extended ROM is an aosp based custom ROM which provides you the Stock UI along with some customization option. As the name suggests, the aosp source code directly builds the ROM. The ROM is little bit look like the Pixel Experience ROM because the customization is limited in this ROM. However, the ROM support the substratum Theme engine which completely changes the looks of your device. The Network connection and the battery backup of the ROM are good. AOSP ROM provides you a full lag free and smooth experience. The AOSP developers continue updates their OS and which is a plus point of this ROM. However, all the above ROMs are also regularly updated by the developers. The AOSP Rom also support the forum support. AOSP extended ROM currently supports almost the all smartphone manufacturer device.
Hi! I am wondering if I can get Custom ROM for Poco X3 pro. is there any chance for that? because this device is a monster with SD860 (in Budget range).
While there are no custom ROMs available for this device, you can make system r/w and then debloat all unnecessary system apps from stock MIUI ROM and customize it as you wish and make MIUI run as smooth as silk!
The kernel sources have been released today, so it shouldn't be too long before custom ROMs start showing up.
@lebigmac - I agree, although it is some substantial work to be done. I received X3 Pro today and, at the first sight, it's just awfully bloated. But going this way (I mean deggogling xiaomi.eu roms) might give the best experience after all.
I'm just not sure how they distribute updates. I mean if I debloat the phone and install update afterwards - will all the stuff from google and xiaomi be back ?
Sorry for possibly lame question - long time SailfishOS user here. I need to get to know with Android again

I've never used that ROM before, but how does it compare to LineageOS?... Lineage has been great to me over the years and I really would prefer to avoid MIUI if at all possible.

Interesting... So does it come included w/ Gapps and does it receive periodic updates like the mainline OTA MIUI updates?

Both of these roms are heavily bloated with google and xiaomi stuff
So if someone is looking for a clean experience - they are not the way to go.

You mean Xiaomi.eu and MiuiMiX (MMX)? I hope the mi-globe ROM Builder gets a vayu release soon as it has debloat options and I would like to use Poco X3 Pro as daily driver - or maybe I try to debloat the Stock ROM.
AOSP/LOS based ROMs seem to take some time and I plan to wait until a stable signature spoofing ROM is available before switching.
Yes, both of them.
I managed to debloat xiaomi.eu rom with Debloat Magisk module and a list of bloat to remove I created for myself. It can be even further debloated but for now it's enough for me.
I am also waiting for an aosp/los rom.
Hello,
Its my first time installing a custom rom.
I just got a xiaomi redmi note 11 pro 5g (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TKFFS23?psc=1&) and learned that it does not have many os or security updates. So before loading all my data on the device I was looking to get a custom rom.
I would rather use one that has a lot of community support so that its constantly updated for security or bugs.
Could anyone help me ? I wanna know which roms are the most recommended , and if there is any how to guide or tutorial .

Use this. It's like stock rom but better. Also you will always get updates for the latest fixes.

Thank you for sharing the links , many maintainers have stopped publishing it on XDA . All ROMs are done with the intent of running smoothly , helping old SKUs like whyred work. However you will need to decide which one you feel comfortable with . I try out all ROMs and then settle with one after using it for a day or two . The challenge sometimes is when you set up payment and banking apps , one will need to sign in an set them up again , but its fun.
Latest A13 Cherish OS Official ROM available here - , I did not see the maintainer's thread hence posting it in the discussions group.

Thanks for your reply and contribution!
I don't use payment by phone so not a problem. About banking apps they could malfunction even if i don't root?
So after you tried various ROMs you can suggest the one you had better experience for RN5 Pro?

Commenting which one is better would again be unfair to the devs, but it all depends on a lot of things , if you are a minimalist then the Lineage OS 18.1 which is being updated by Sunil, should be good , if you want the entire range of apps and goodies then SparkOS, Cherish, PE and other which include Gapps , if you want A13 and without Gapps you got versions as well. With RN5 pro being released nearly 5 years ago you will get the occasional stutter , freezes and battery drain issues with most of the ROMs. Moving forward I will lean towards LOS 18.1 knowing atleast the security patches are being updated and you can sideload google dialer/ message for RCS and spam filtering.

The problem with many of these roms is that they will not be updated for a long time.
look at pixel, its developer released the first stable version, and now they have removed it from the official website.
The sparkos rom, there is no thread in this subforum of that rom, it's weird, it seems that it is not going quite fine.
That's why I've put up this thread , so folks can share scattered pieces of info on which ever ROM gets updated since there might not be an official update in the forum

Because it's an old phone and difficult to find active maintainers, but there are still developers (see the latest unofficial roms).
There is also a good Telegram channel with other A13 roms listed both ufficial and unofficial: @whyredupdates
yes, but I value stable and updated roms at least once a month.
that's why I like lineage.
I have no use for a rom that after 2 months, is not updated.
I think unofficial LOS 18.1 is good to go as a daily driver especially with a 4 gb memory, Security patch being updated on a regular basis. I have reduced the number of apps and access them only through desktop . This also helps reduce notifications and extends standby.

New edit:
Install 5th tier ROM. By installing this ROM, mi 8 lite will become a new and modern phone. It is clear that the designers and developers have spent a lot of time and energy to make such a complete and perfect ROM. I installed it using twrp-3.7.0_12-0
This ROM has a lot of settings, face lock, double tap to turn off the screen, change the shape of icons and a fast and smooth user interface.
