Root your phone, that's the only option because your ROM isnt compatible with substratum rootless
Can't root the phone because WhatsApp doesn't work on rooted devices ....

I have the same problem mate, I've posted into the Substratum forum for an answer but nothing yet....

I have Android PIE version 9 and have rooted the phone. I have Dark Infusion and Swift Black and am a Substratum Beta Tester. When I open Substratum I just get "could not fall back to rooted mode ".
Dark Infusion is said to work with PIE. What is wrong here?

Working here. Connect phone to PC, run Substratum and click Check Status. Run the Andromeda batch script on your PC (you'll have to do this everytime your phone reboots).
The adb script correct?
It's not working on exynos oreo (not beta stable software). Can anyone sort it out.

After a reboot, do i have to theme the phone over or do i just have to run the script before i can add any additional overlays?

I can't tell you how to fix the ****tty substratum ,either how to make Andromeda to work...BUT if u are fan of switf dark theme u can try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftinstaller

Thanks! Finally, I can to fix Substratum. Solution: uninstall and install again andromeda and substratum. It works!!

They crash sometimes but seems stable to me. So far so good.
Can you install substratum on marshmallow? If so, how do i install it?
Yes you can, but you will need to install an older version of substratum and only Legacy themes will work for you.

so for any other android you need root!!

Kindly post all the working SUBSTRATUM themes for the SAMSUNG S8/S8+ devices here.
As the official build for the Oreo has released for the s8 , substratum will get more stable and better.

I had difficulties getting it to work, but after reading the provided Google Doc I got it to work just fine.
It works differently than Nougat/ Sungstratum.
As long as we don't have to spoon feed you - feel free to ask any more questions (please state what exactly doesn't work as outlined in the Doc).
I believe all the "SWIFT" themes are supposed to work on "CRAP"

I am using swift and for me it's not working properly.
When I connected the phone to the pc and activate Andromeda and that stuff it works till I restart the phone them I have to make everything again

hi , thank you so much for all the effort you do in this forum , i have a question :is there a way to hide magisk ( like you cant see it like an app like hidden from user interface ) i bought an xcover 3 and j3 from a guy who sell these rooted phone for delivery guys , they both have magisk and xposed installed but i cant find how to uninstall or edit anything like both they dont exist or installed i can only see a process of the magisk running on phone , but they are there , i can provide you with pictures or i can upload the backup of the phone if anyone want to check

True but if u install xposed using magisk now called edxposed since android Oreo u can uninstall it be deleting the module

AFAIK Samsung XCover 3 is Android 4.4.4 & Samsung Galaxy J3 is Android 5.1.1, Hence OP correctly spoke of XPosed.
but the uninstaled will unroot my phone no ? these phones are rooted :/

Yes, uninstalling Magisk will result in your device going in no-root stage. Uninstalling Xposed doen't affect device's root-stage.

you want my honest opinion? you should contact your custom rom developer and tell him nicely his stupid ... there are couple reason why you should not include magisk pre-installed on custom rom

lol , i checked using root checker ( all apps i can install from apk pure app ) , well this is the only one who dosent have the playstore , the j5 is the same but has playstore

Tasker works best with rooted android, lucky patcher and titanium backup , they are out of this world amazing, not to mention apps like csdroid hacking apps , so much more

There is a full changelog somewhere on that site. TLDR? Much more customization, less garbage. Try it, there is no negative in that rom, but still...it is MIUI :\ Cant wait for real rom too...
