It can be unlocked and it can be rooted. Same phone here.

How to unlock this network, not sim.
So, How to unlock this network, not sim unlocking. Because in this case, the sim is unlocked but the network is locked. You can change this sim but only on au network, and you canot change to other network. If you use another sim card on other operator that use different frequency with au, it will have no signal.

So, will it be okay to flash another rom? Won't my sim or network be locked? Currently I'm running lolli, really want to upgrade it to noughat.
Also i got an info from a friend of mine, he said that if we change the sim carrier, it'll decrease the number of network subset. Is it true?

I read on Xperia Z5 group on FB, SOV32 (AU) version is not permanent unlocked. So will lose your network if you upgrade the OS. And you have to paid some money to unlocked it again. Just stay what you are.

all you need is to patch your current kernel. unlock your bootloader and flash the patch boot.img that you have created. before doing that, make sure that your Bootloader unlock allowed says YES.

[Q] Sim unlock - network unlock

Hi All,
Is the network unlock by flashing modem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2022296) same as sim unlock?
If not how one can unlock the phone having root and bootloader unlocked but not calling my carrier and asking for the code (I've still wait another 4 months to get code from them)? The phone is locked to French SFR.
At the time I've had Neus One, if my memory serves me right, at the time of rooting the phone it was sim unlocked as well.
Thanks in advance for any advise.
p.s. should this thread be placed in different sub-forum, please move it. Thanks.
There are 2 types of unlock:
1) Network unlock = Will allowed your phone the usage of other carriers services, then your own SFR (can use other networks sim cards)
2) Bootloader unlock = Will enable your phone of installing custom or other carriers ROM's
You can root your phone without any type of unlock = Root will enable your phone to install the recovery apps..& others apps (not ROM's)

How can I do network unlock without calling carrier (SFR) and without paying for the code? Can it be done via flashing modem or any other trick?
So far I'm on the binaries provided by SFR, original ICS and then upgraded through OTA to JB.
Thanks.

Where?
Accordingly to the Forum Rules I can't advertise any product or services. Google on line & there are plenty unlock services.
Which version of the phone do you have? The Verizon branded versions **are** SIM unlocked, though they don't work on ATT/TMobile in the US. Furthermore, they don't work with a foreign SIM in the US.
However, if you take the phone abroad and pop a foreign SIM in it, it will work. How do I know this? I'm sitting in Australia on Optus/Australia as we speak...
So, if you have the VZW version, no code is needed.

The law in France changed a few month ago, you just need to wait 3 month and sfr must give you the unlock code. Not 6 month anymore.

It is wery common trouble for many of us
You are just using the phone that is sim locked by the operator
Good news is that there is an easy fix for your problem- you have to unlock it
The sim unlocking procedure is been performed by most of the mobile service centers,
You may use google to search for sites that can remotely unlock your device

There are several tipes of 'locks' we users are forced to fight with:
- locked bootloader- not allowing us to flash any custom system to our phone
, this is suposed to save inexpearienced or to quick a user from bricking their devices...
- sim lock- by this procedure your mobile provider wants to make sure you will not be using the phone-
THEY gave you on contract, with another provider's sim card...
Sim lock is a very common policy among mobile carriers but you can remove it quite easily
, without any side effects

Why would you want to know any way?
It might mean your phone is unlocked to all networks or locked to one network.
if im not mistaken, probably means its sim-locked and you have 4 attempts to unluck it by code (just guessing.. not sure)

"o" probably means enabled while "x" means disabled
i suggest contacting your operator regarding network unlock, if you type the wrong code many times bad things will happen

I do this:
1. Turn on the phone whithout sim card
2. Type *#*#7378423#*#*
3. Select Service info
4. Select SimLock
5. Check where is X
6. If X is on NETWORK and value is different than 0, you can unlock your phone.
7. If it is 0 unlock by code is NOT possible.
The counter is blocked.

OK, I am unsure on this. I thought you were mistaking the bootloader unlock for SIM unlock.
However, if you can put another SIM in it from a different provider and it works, then it is unlocked
Ok thank you I for your opinion !

If you enter the service info and indicates "0" on the sim lock statu, it means it is OPENLINE in laymans term. Means you can use other sim provider. If it is "1" means your device is sim locked. (0= off, 1= on)
