LineageOS with microG for RS988
Your warranty is now void.
I am neither responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, nor you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
before flashing it! You alone are choosing to make these modifications.
If you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I won't laugh at you, but I'll try to work with you to fix it.
Thank you Rashed97 for your RS988 device tree!
Old unofficial LineageOS thread content said:
I am happy to introduce Lineage 15.1 Oreo to the RS988. It turned out much better than I expected!
Yesterday I was reading @SkippyDream 's thread for his Lineage 15.1 build for the H850, and I saw @TheForgottenKing 's request for an RS988 build. So I decided to take the plunge and see what would happen.
I was quite surprised. I've never used Oreo, and the UI looks fantastic! I was very happy to find that LiveDisplay works and camera focus in Snap (Camera) works as well! Without a doubt, this will be my daily driver.
One thing did carry over, though--that obnoxious kernel bug. This means no MTP for now... but at least charging works. Make sure to keep USB Debugging enabled for it to work. MTP works now.
Be fully aware of this bug before flashing this ROM!
Working:
Connectivities (Bluetooth, RIL, WiFi, etc.)
Camera (focus works with Snap!)
LiveDisplay
GPS
Everything else that isn't on the Not Working list.

Issues/Not Working:
NFC, which includes Google Pay, etc.
MTP
Expanded Desktop — causes SystemUI to slow/freeze, crash, etc.
Calling with BT — when using a BT device while calling, loud distortion can be heard from the receiver's end.

Happy flashing! I believe this definitely will suffice until we get official Oreo in... hopefully this spring!
But, until then, let's not shilly-shally, as Skippy says Let's see how well we can get this to work.

Hope you don't mind @SkippyDream I like your thread format, so I used a bit of it.
You're the best man! Trying it out now ?
No Bluetooth (audio, anyways) has been the only reason I'm not on 15.1 – Does anyone have any fixes/workarounds for this issue yet?
Cheers and thanks for the LOS build! [emoji16]

Glad to know that
Thanks for your credits.
Keep up your work!
Frame rate a tad choppy. Oreo hits a snag every now and then. I did dirty flash it though. Otherwise handles as expected, and it's wonderful to have 8.1 on this phone.

Actually, I think I just copied that issue from my LOS 14.1 thread without thinking (which is why @goast is tagged in there). I'm using BT audio right now, and it's beautiful.
I noticed one extra thing, too—Oreo supports Qualcomm aptX HD Audio, and we can use it with BT !
EDIT: In fact, I mis-titled that issue as well. The loud static issue is not related to audio playback. I'll fix that in a minute.

I did test GPS on Monday with one of my typical routes on Google Maps, and I didn't have any location drops. A long-distance drive would be a much better test, but I can't do that right now...
For now, it seems that there are no GPS problems.
Also, I think I spoke too soon on the audio being fine. Static occurs with audio/video playback.

Yeah the wide angle works, just not with the default camera or the opengapps camera. You need to install open camera or one of the ported Google hdr+ cameras with wide angle support.
Edit:. My bad, that was the case with nougat. At the moment I don't have any luck on the Oreo version of his rom. Guess we need to wait for the dev to fix that.

When changing ROMs, always factory reset. Dirty flashing an upgrade to a newer build of a ROM is doable.

About LunuxOS
LunuxOS is my personal project with selective features over GZOSP (which is very close to AOSP on it's own). It will be updated once every week, probably on Sunday, with cumulative changes through the week. If necessary, I will surely release new update before due date.
LunuxOS was the name I gave to my first Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite based on Samsung's Stock Firmware of Android 2.3.6. Since then I have always wanted to have my own take on Android but it never took off until now.
LunuxOS is not your just another AOSP based Custom ROM. I see it in between AOSP based ROMS and Stock ROM provided by OnePlus. It contains bundled applications for day to day tasks and can be used immediately after flashing it without the need to download basic applications.

Disclaimer
I am new to the Development scene. I have tested the ROM again and again before releasing. But it's not perfect. You must understand that I will not be held responsible if anything goes wrong with your device while you were trying to flash this ROM. I will try my best to help you in times like those but don't held a grudge against me. You must be familiar with Custom ROMs and the risks which come with them.
You can use the ROM as is without flashing Google Apps or any other application for basic necessities. All the bundled applications except the Pixel Launcher can be updated from Play Store.

F.A.Q.s
Q. 1. Does it supports Encrypted devices?
A. Yes, it supports Encryption. But still PLEASE do take a backup as this ROM is still in early stages and some unseen issue may cause it to break. So PLEASE at least take a backup beforehand.
Q. 2. Does it supports VoLTE?
A. Yes, VoLTE is supported but make sure you follow these steps carefully before reporting not working:
Update to latest Open Beta (24/15)/Stable ROM (4.5.x).
Complete your device setup and make sure that VoLTE is turned on and working.
Reboot to recovery and flash this ROM.
Now VoLTE will work.
[IF VOLTE STOPS WORKING AFTER REBOOT THEN SIMPLY GO TO SETTINGS > NETWORK & INTERNET > MOBILE NETWORK > DISABLE VOLTE AND RE-ENABLE IT.]
(If VoLTE was disabled on Stock/Open Beta ROM then it may not work on LunuxOS).
Q. 3. Why does the Charging don't show up?
A. It's a known bug in all Oreo based ROM for OP3/3T. Switch off your device. Power it on using the Power button. Plug in your charger when OnePlus logo shows up. Now the Charging indicator will show until next reboot. Follow this step every time when you reboot. Once rebooted you may unplug charger if not required to charge. [This fix was stated by a user in LineageOS 15.0 thread.]
Version 1.0 Beta-2 [21-10-2017]:
Add: Network speed meter in statusbar with minimum threshold limit. (This marks the starting of LunuxOS Extensions with handpicked features over AOSP).
Add: Disable Buttons Backlight (still WIP, buttons light up again everytime the screen is unlocked).
Update: Linux kernel to version 3.18.76 from 3.18.75.
MISC.: Under the hood bug fixes and updates.
Version 1.0 Beta [15-10-2017]:
[Update]Updated kernel to 3.18.75 from 3.18.72.
[Add]On-screen navigation buttons (with long press home to start Google Assistant, recents to start multi-window).
[Add]Double click on-screen navbar to sleep.
[Add]Android 8.0.0 Oreo built in theme manager with 2 themes (Pixel and Stock).
[Fixed]Advance buttons Settings option name fixed. Previously it was named "Notification slider". Now it's more appropriately named "Buttons & notification slider" with correct icon.
[Removed]Simple Camera and Simple Music Player have been removed on users demand.
Other under the hood bug fixes and updates.
Version 1.0 Alpha [09-10-2017]:
Based on GZOSP (Android 8.0.0), using Intoxicated kernel version 3.18.x.

Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Introduction
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock android for your device. More info.
These are my UNOFFICIAL builds of LineageOS-15.1 for LG G5 variants. I did NOT create this ROM. I am helping to contribute to this ROM. Thanks to all other coders who contributed to LineageOS.
IMPORTANT
BACKUP! These are UNTESTED builds. Please be ready to recover your previous ROM. If it kernel panic, boots into bootloader, etc... grab as much info as you can.
Builds are done periodically (see download below)
Do NOT be rude.
Respect all users.
Any and all users, please help each other. I have a rs988 variant, so other variants might have some issues.
Known items
VoLTE and WiFi calling do not work yet
Other known issues (same as OFFICIAL too):
WiFi or Bluetooth MAC is "00:00:00:00:00:00" - You wiped the misc partition, you'll need to fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70474540&postcount=12
5Ghz tether not working due to "error"
Enabling ADB Debugging in development setting can cause a kernel crash. If you are quick and press OK right away, it will take and still crash. On reboot, it will be enabled.
Install
You can upgrade from 14.1 (UNOFFICIAL) to 15.1. If you are not on my UNOFFICIAL yet, flash the to-x86cpu.zip first (and reboot recover before upgrade, not reboot into system).
Flash to-x86cpu.zip if you want. (See Downloads below)
Flash UNOFFICIAL ROM
Wipe cache, and dalvik cache
Magisk if you choose
Flash GAPPS (I use nano)
Reboot and wait....
Bugs
If you encounter issues/bugs that are not known, please report. This is not the OFFICIAL ROM, but I can help to get any issues fixed. I have a rs988 variant. If I can replicate your issue then I can track it down. If I cannot, please provide as much detail as possible. Logcats are great.
Please indicate what g5 variant you have (h830, h850, rs988) and what you are running (OFFICIAL or UNOFFICIAL) and date. Any mods (no judgment) as well.
I am aware people run mods or change things. I am not against it (as I do myself). However, if needed I may ask you to data wipe (you can say no), or remove a mod that might be interfering. I will do the best I can.
Thanks

What is not working or still wonky:
Encryption -- Works.
USB OTG -- Should be working.
Ambient display -- Disabled now.
Livedisplay -- Should be working.
IR will work, then timeout, then work again.
Video recording -- Should be working. Works sometimes, appears to record, but playing back audio is at the beginning, video at the end, and the duration is messed up.

[*]Stability - Nothing should crash. LineageOS has a reputation for stability and your port must be rock-solid.
[*]No overclocking/overvolting - Don’t alter clocks/voltages outside of the manufacturer’s default ranges.
[*]Enforcing SELinux - The device must work while SELinux is enforcing (which is the default).
[*]No non-PIE blobs - If your device requires executables which aren’t position-independent, it will not be accepted.

Make sure [B]you [/B]meet the following requirements:
[LIST]
[*]Continued support - Ask yourself: “Do I want to provide continuous support?” - LineageOS is not a “submit it and forget it” home. You need to be willing to continue maintaining the device by fixing bugs, applying security updates and eventually improving performance.

NOTE: Once you have successfully submitted your device, you will be given access to our internal tools (e.g. team chat, cve tracker, …) to help maintain your device and coordinate development of LineageOS. You only need to worry about these steps once you’ve been given access to them.
The following steps are necessary to finally make your device an official one:
[LIST]
[*]Patch it: Make sure the kernel is patched against all applicable CVEs.
[*]Prepare all the info: Add your device to the wiki.
[*]Make it build: Create a patch for the hudson project on our GitHub org and add your device to the lineage_build_targets file.

question about screen burn
hi, I was wondering what you suggest to do to avoid screen burn after flashing this rom on a h830? I dont see a "screen" option in kernel auditor. Is there some settings I can change in display? thank you.

Fast charging have been fixed for quite some time in Lineage, so unless you are running a different kernel or not using a fast charger, it does work.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Glad to see you back to work @Stricted.

Mic bug still present
Thank you Stricted for the hard work and for continuing and releasing YOUR 16.0 version.
Unfortunately in you latest built I still experience the microphone issue.
Any audio recorded (i.e. speech messages) with the phone is too silent.
I suspect the bug is related to the fact that there is a second noise cancellation mic built into the device.

Man. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this. Everything works just fine for me. The system feels a bit sluggish but I knew it was going to be like that. Yeah sorry i was on rush earlier so i had to reflash the first one cause i needed it immediatly working; i'm going to re-downlaod it and re-try and let u know.
But one question: is there a way to enable the WPS connect (for the WiFi) or it has been removed on los16?
EDIT: Well, funny thing, when i had that error i was making a clean flash, now with a dirty flash, no error...
I think it was error 7 btw.
Just to be sure.
This is fine to just update (flash) from Lineage 15.1?

LineageOS for Nokia 7.1
About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free and open-source operating system for set-top boxes, smartphones and tablet computers, based on the Android mobile platform. It is the successor to the custom ROM CyanogenMod, from which it was forked in December 2016 when Cyanogen Inc. announced it was discontinuing development and shut down the infrastructure behind the project. Since Cyanogen Inc. retained the rights to the Cyanogen name, the project rebranded its fork as LineageOS.
LineageOS was officially launched on December 24, 2016, with the source code available on GitHub. Since that time, LineageOS development builds now cover more than 185 phone models with over 1.9 million active installs, having doubled its user base in the month February–March 2017 And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

Hm.. intresting
Main reason behind the bugs is
Recently Nokia 7.1 Snapdragon 636 handset received Android Q update named with 4.08B & i used the vendor from that . So my job is only system & boot so blame Nokia to fix that mic bug which is related to vendor.img
Hi, this looks great! I haven't used a custom rim for a while, mostly as I was looking for something more stable and with the best possible camera quality. However, I'm struggling with stability of the stock rom after android 10 update.
Is camera quality in lineage the same as stock rom?
Is this stable enough to be day to day phone?
Is this unrooted by default? Or easy to unroot? Worried about app compatibility.
Thanks for your help and development!
Works great, only no bluetooth audio
Just flashed the latest version to my 7.1.
First try many things didn't work (wifi, sim, etc.). I think this was connected to twrp not installing correctly or something. After installing again, it works great.
Screenshot on imgur /dAiYMl0 (i can't post links)
One (I think) bug: bluetooth audio doesn't seem to work. The device connects, but there's no sound. Tried with different headphones.
One other issue: wired headphones don't seem to work for calls. They do work for music etc.
Changelog - 25-01-2020
Note - clean flash recommended
* January security patch
* Disabled force encryption
* Compiled using legacy
* Linux version 4.4.194 ( Black caps edition ) based on Official stock kernel sources 4.10C & compiled using clang 9.0.3
* Fixed mic bug during calls via headphones
* Comes with 410C vendor.img
* Added OTA Support
@Raghu varma awesome work, thank you! Shame the bootloader unlock procedure is not yet straight-forward enough so more people can enjoy it.

I have installed and tested the ROM, it is pretty snappy and fluid but i have encountered a bug in audio throw headphones. Only left speaker works and the right headphone kicks in when the volume is high. It is not my headphones as i have tested them with other devices and it is not the headphone jack, with other roms it worked fine.
It works perfectly! Thanks to bring this version of LineAgeOS to my old grouper ?
does this support f2fs? i have android 6 on my device right now w/ f2fs on /data partition, wondering if I need to change that to ext4.
Updated with various NFC fixes. Update with security patches will be available as soon as the changes are published in the LineageOS repository.

ROM updated with last August security patch!
EDIT: Ignore my amateur question. I had forgotten you need to enable developer mode by tapping Build Number multiple times! I did, and actually changed the root access permissions to app and ADB. The addonsu 14.1 utility worked beautifully to gain root access. Root Checker verified it.
I was able to install Linux Deploy, Install Debian jessie and run X-Windows. All done as a chroot process under LineageOS! This was my goal. This probably would have worked under AOSP 7.1.2 also, but installing an older version of Debian. The arm branch was deprecated for much of the X-Windows system om later versions.
Great ROM!
Can root access be achieved with this ROM? I tried with LineageOS’s addonsu. Root Checker reported no root access. I also noticed there were no “developer” settings under Settings. I thought that might indicate no rooting was allowed.
The ROM itself is VERY nice, but I need root access for Linux Deploy. Good job! Thank you.
Nice ROM, thank you. Any link to root zip for this ROM? Couldn't find it. Thanks
