Note 5 charge port only works when on wireless charger - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I've done alot of searching on Google, alot of different forums, not seen this mentioned I've seen alot of not charging problems but not this one, I got the phone 3 days ago, I thought the charger port was bad, but they said if it's on the wireless charger you can plug it into the computer and it'll recognize. So I did it, I went ahead and rooted and put custom recovery on it, I installed the phone info Samsung app, and idoneapps or whatever it's called to get in the hidden menus and stuff, I've tried enable and disable USB charging a few times, Ive factory reset a couple times, a available csc code is bst for boost, witch is what I have, I changed it to that a couple times but it doesn't stick when it reboots, the boost startup screen comes up the first time it boots up, but that's it, it goes back to spr but I'd really like to figure out the USB port problem, if I have it plugged in the computer, and take it off the wireless charger it disconnects from the computer, it don't work plugging it into the wall either, I'm on 7.0 not the newest version, I can't remember what one tho, any help or ideas appreciated

i am on N920PVPS3DQK1 if that helps

im the only one thats had this problem? its weird, ive flashed different firmwares from 5.1.1 to 7.0 still hasnt changed anything, the only way the usb port works is when it is on the wireless charger, as soon as you take it off, it disconnects from the computer or charger cord, i wouldnt think changing the charger port would fix it, because obviously it isnt a broke, i was thinking software issue somehow but ive flashed like 7 different stock firmwares didnt help.

Phone reads wall charger as USB connection

Well I haven't found anything on this so i will bring this out in the open when I try to charge my phone with the charger that comes with it it ask me what type of connection I want to use the same thing the phone does when connected to my computer I can't be the only person having this issue and I have hard reset the phone already and it still happens I have tried multiple charges and some don't charge I just get the comms manager screen
Which ROM are you running? I think when I was running the Energy ROM I had the same issue. Even if I'm wrong about what ROM I had the issue with, I did have it on one ROM I tried and on my current ROM (MightyROM) it does not do it.
Is this the original usb cable or a different one?

usb connection with pc suddenly dead

Hello suddenly my nexus s stopped connecting with data with the pc it only charges, tried with 3 diffrent computers with diffrent os , no menu popping on nexus and nothing connected on the computer(like i didnt connect anything), i removed the battery left it for some time installed stock rom still nothing. It was acting normally for a second and the other it stopped any help appreciated!
Are you sure you're using the cable that came with the phone? I have an LG Wink featurephone here that uses the same connector at the phone end -- its cable will charge my Nexus S (using the computer, obviously, but also when used with either the LG or Samsung charger) but no USB connection happens when I use it. Only the cable that came with my Nexus S provides a USB connection when I connect to the computer. I guess there are pinout differences between the two cables.
If you're sure you're using the right cable, I would guess that it's gone bad if it doesn't work on any computer. You can buy an (overpriced) replacement from Samsung or maybe a cheaper one on eBay or at a retail store. If the latter, be sure the seller lists it as compatible with the Nexus S.
it happened with the original cable ppfff i dont know...
same problem

I have the same problem
I have no idea what the problem could be.
We are not alone with this problem: code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=13553
Now installed stock rom as well but still the same problem.
If i starting the NS in the bootloader mode the phone is not recognized by the computer.
It would be great, if someone knows a solution!

I've been trying to get help with this for weeks. No one is even responding to my posts. I thought it was something OBSURDLY simple, such that people didn't even want to waste their time responding to me.

My phone charges just fine. And my USB connectivity was fine until I manually installed 2.3.4.
~I had usb connection problems after upgrade to 2.3.4 a bit different but I managed to get the USB back by formatting the SD card.

I was on 2.3.3 when this happened, i tried to flash 2.3.4 then and again it didnt work but the strange thing is that when i was moving the mini usb the first times up and down it was shown for a moment as a broken usb device. Then this stopped and was not shown at all on the computer and finally the phone charged super slow when connected to electricity
Beginning to believe that it is a physical prob with USB connector on phone. It seems to start/stop charging when wiggling usb on phone but no mounting. Doe anyone know best way to resolve , T-mobile but bought from Best Buy? so to Best Buy? FOR SUPPORT /EXCHANGE? suggestions?
I've seen loose connections before. My suggestion ain't the cheapest but the plug, on the cable end, shouldn't wiggle. I went to a corporate sprint store, the ones that actually have working display phones, and got their usb to micro usb data cable. The thing with that cable is when you plug it in the phone side, it goes into the jack firmly. You can almost feel the little locking tabs click into place. There should be no play or wiggle with that cable as long as there's no damage or abuse with the jack on the phone. IMO, that's a good data cable. It's never given me problems before.
Also, sometimes the cable is only wired for charging. A true data cable will be wired correctly and be able to both charge and transfer data. Usually the cables that come with the phone are crap quality. I don't know if my suggestion will help but it won't hurt to have a good cable for data transfer and flashing. The last thing you want is a flaky connection from a cheap cable when you're flashing roms. Russian roulette with bricking a phone in a worse case situation.
Did you try reboot the computer and the phone? How about a different usb port? How about unplug any other usb device in case it's conflicting for some unknown reason? It sounds like so many people with windows 7 are having problems. Usually always happens with a new os that's released. Xp, for flashing devices and programming different hardware devices, has never given of a problem. I have a small partition with xp on it just for that purpose only.
off to Samsung for repair for me...
After time on phone with them and a factory reset belief is that the usb connector is defective. BTW Best Buy just hands off to Samsung 1-800 #
So Back to a barely functional G-1 for a while, glad I could find it!
So is Samsung or the carriers replacing or fixing units?
My USB data died shortly after 2.3.4 ota update.
Wifi FTP is fine for data transfer but I want USB debug to work...
Shame on google and Samsung, this bug has been around for months.
no shame on anyone...
I went through a factory reset with Samsung on phone that isolated the problem to what is apparently a loose usb connector, nothing to do with software... only hassle is sending it in for repair, as` mentioned problem needs to be dealt with Samsung customer service (not carrier or Best Buy), they were fine on phone...

Another Solution to Odin (unrecognized usb)

I have A Telus Fascinate (T959d)
Been Having a LOT of issues with ODIN not recognizing my Phone lately, Computer wont recognize my usb..
I have all SAMSUNG drivers, tried re-installing KIES no luck, still wont recognize phone..
tried 4 different USB cables, original all the way to new ones
I SCOURED the internet to find a solution, with no luck..
SO, Long story short, turns out from plugging and unplugging phone, the usb slot in the phone became loose or moved or something..
so, taking a SMALL flat screwdriver I placed it behind the "NIB" in the usb and pushed it towards the front of the phone, just a bit, careful not to BREAK IT!
Plugged my phone in and BOOM it worked..
After every 15-20 round of plugging and unplugging usb i have to do this, then it works great... absolutely no problems
Sorry if it's in wrong forum, but I figured it might help someone experiencing the same issues as me

Defective USB Port? Data connection and Quick Charge not working anymore

Hello,
I recently flashed TWRP and CyanogenMod 13 on my Mi4. It was working quite well, I had some problems with the rotation sensor and some bugs in the software, but Quick Charge and also the Connection to the PC worked without problems.
Today when I was on my way home I was charging my Mi4 with a Qalcomm 2.0 Quick Charge Powerbank from Aukey (i have used it in the past on other phones, always worked great), but it seems that the USB cable was broken, it was charging very slowly and it also seemed to have a defective contact (the cable charged if i moved it around a bit, but in certain positions it wouldn't charge).
However, when i got home and plugged it in, I noticed that the phone also charged very slowly with the charger, so I thought that I would just flash MIUI back on the device to fix it, maybe it was a problem with Cyanogenmod. But that didn't work at all, the phone couldn't connect to the pc.
So, here's my problem: The PC can't detect the phone and it also seems, that the phone doesn't recognize, that its connected to a pc. Charging via the USB ist still working, but very slow. Also Quick Charging isn't working, it doesn't matter which charger or cable I use, it's always slow. When I connect the phone to the charger or the PC it takes like 5 seconds to recognize, that a cable is connected, then it starts (slow) charging.
The phone doesn't show up in the windows device manager at all (there are no unkown devices shown, the pc just doesn't react when you connect the phone). Also there is no message on the phone when you connect it (usually you can choose if you want the use your phone as a usb drive or just charge it). I also tried to activate MTP in the developer settings on the phone and turning USB Debugging On/Off, but it didn't help.
I managed to download a MIUI Rom from xiaomi.eu with the phone and installed it with TWRP, but it didn't help. So I think I actually broke the USB Port of my phone with a defective Micro USB Cable. The phone can still charge (very very slowly, no quick charge possible), but I can't connect it to the PC anymore. The pc also won't detect the phone when it's in fastboot mode.
I tried to look it up on the internet, but all I found were people with driver problems, and I don't think that I have a driver problem, because it seems like there is no connection between PC and Phone besides the charging.
Anyone knows something about this? Is it even possible to just break the data connection and the quick charging with a defective cable?
Hey, did you get your Mi working? I have a similar experience with mine.

No, I didn't find a solution for the problem. Phone is still not working, I even ordered a new charging port, but I made a mistake and ordered one for the LTE version. I have the 3g version, so the new charging port didn't even work with my phone. I don't want to spend any more money on it, so I just gave up on fixing it.
Same problem, and I am also stucked in recovery for now, never will buy phone without SdCard now...
Somobody found solution?

Honor 8 won't connect to pc nor quick charge

So, my phone won't quick charge, nor will it connect to pc. Keep getting the divice not recognized and has malfunctioned. Stock everything, cause I can't unlock the bootloader to flash it. 7.0 android. Things I've tried, brand new cables, the charging block is the one that came with the phone. 3 different pcs, windows 7 to 10. USB Debugging, the secret enter code in dialer to the menu to enable hisense or whatever USB setting, enabling it USB to hisense in advanced (its not hisense its something, can't remember its the oem exe) various drivers and Android drivers.. I've tried it all almost. It's not beyond me to take the phone down and replace the port but I'd rather not if it's a common correctable issue. I reset this phone twice to see if a reset would fix it.. Nothing. Anyone else with the issue or something like it? Just wanna root this thing.. This is a "new to me" phone so probably why they sold it if it's the actual port jacked up, it's not a big big deal as my g3 was overheating and dying and I got this for $80.. Figure I came out on top cause the USB c boards are cheap enough. But I hate the glued together stuff cause you never get it exact when throwing it together or at least I don't. Big hands. So... Here is to hoping it's software. Phone works 100% other than that I like it.
Yeah, I know this. Quick charge won't work on the block. I'm not concerned with quick charge on my pc.. I'm concerned with connecting to my pc period. I can't connect at all. The bootloader is locked because I can't connect to pc to unlock it. So to recap. Quick charge will not work on the block at all so I lack being able to quick charge, and I cannot connect to a pc via USB. I have tried all the fixes I can think of in my original post with no success unless I missed something?
I'm thinking I'm gunna have to tear this phone apart and replace the dang port... Lol. Too easy.
