Using the watch sim card to call and navigate on your phone - Samsung Gear S3

Hi all, I was wondering if I can use the watch's lte connection to navigate using my phone, like some kind of wifi tethering from the watch to the phone. This way I could have only one sim card on my watch, and use my smartphone only for things like navigation, fb and camera.
What I'm saying is I'd like to make the watch my main device, maybe use it with Bluetooth earphones and use my smartphone as an accessory so I don't really need to carry it around all the time
I'd try it myself but I don't have the gear S3 and this is kind of a deal breaker for me to buy it

[Q] Pairing Tablet as Bluetooth Receiver?

This topic is pasted all over the net and it doesn't seem to be getting much attention, however I think it should be brought to a better light.
The idea is simple: Enable your Android Phone or Tablet to become a bluetooth reciever(to replace a headset or bluetooth speakers) and broadcast audio to the device and broadcast microphone from the device.
This could be used in several different applications:
1. Using an Android Tablet as a Car Stereo Interface
(Connect Phone to Tablet Via Bluetooth and use it as a hands free speakerphone, or aux out to your stereo)
2. Multiple Android Phones
(Have a business and personal phone? Answer all your calls from one.)
3. Phone or Tablet as Bluetooth Speaker/Mic
(Skype, PS3, Xbox 360, TV, Google Voice)
I would use several of these options on a daily basis, and would most definitely pay good money for an app like this.
So my questions are:
1. Is this possible?
2. If it is, how hard would it be?
3. If it isn't that hard, why hasn't someone done it yet!?
Bump if you want this too!
Just wanted to bump this because we need to put our heads together here and get this done. I need this capability for number 1 on your list of potential uses. I also would pay good money for an app that enabled this. Phones and tablet are rooted and ready to modify whatever is needed. Ii've bumped a couple other threads today as well.
I would also pay for this!
I have been looking for this for a while. I use an old LG Eve in my car and my Captivate's Wifi connection for GPS but I would love to have it work for calls and music too.
I would pay as well.
bumping this just to say that I'm going to research the rules and process for starting a bounty. obviously the smart people we need to work on this need motivation lol

Hi there,
just wanted to leave an incentive kind of post to say that I've also been looking for exactly the same thing.
My hunting on Google play just stopped after finding this post on XDA.
It's a kind of confirmation that there isn't a solution yet.
Since our rooted androids are more than capable of acting as a Bluetooth receiver, whether they may be based on new or older hardware, this seams like a very logical step in their lifecycle instead of getting forgotten in a drawer full of old and unused electronic waste.
Some doubts:
is a2dp required for this?
Is a2dp hardware related or simply a software feature?
Personally, I could live with a simple one way communication from a phone with mobile network (sender ) to the receiver. The used mic could still be the one on the sender side.
Wouldn't even need to have the receiver in a visible place as I would just connect a stereo cable from its headset output to an aux input on a hifi or a car stereo to hear music or acting as a hands-free system.
Hope this gets some real attention.
Cheers
In one year, nobody found a solution??
I can't beleive there is STILL no progress on this. Maybe I'll try asking a dev that has made similar apps the feasibility of this. There are so many practical uses for this that I cannot beleive no one has capitalized on it.
This would be a killer app if done right. Who here doesn't have an old phone laying around gathering dust? This could start off small; simply enabling the phone/tablet to be essentially a Bluetooth speaker, but then gain features and an interface using A2DP, which would evolve it into a killer way to make any car (with at least a tape deck) able to have full Bluetooth integration and control. I really hope someone can do this!
Bump
Bkb -> p -> PC (either wifi/blu/usb)
yeah so a spare bluetooth phone that connects between a keyboard and PC. Acting like a BT dongle. No way I'm spending 10 bucks for that. if an app...maybe a buck but would prefer free.
looking for this too. Wanting to turn this old phone into a bt audio receiver
Wow, endless searching and now this thread and still nothing :/ i need it for the first idea you listed, did you ever find something?
https://android.googlesource.com/pl.../java/android/bluetooth/BluetoothHeadset.java
Currently the Android Car Multimedia receives Bluetooth Stereo Audio from Phones (Andoird/Apple), how they do it?
Any news?
So many years and still nothing?
May be this is not the right way to do.
I know this is a crazy old subject but others have commented so I don't feel so bad.
I want to make my own android system for my car. I have everything I need for it (hardware/software-wise) except for this one thing.
A few years back there used to be an app called Tablet Talk, it's not exactly what we want but I'm still willing to settle for something like that. The way it works is phone->tablet->handsfree Bluetooth speaker. You could make and receive calls (including seeing the contact names/phone numbers on the tablet) from the tablet itself, then the audio/microphone goes to the handsfree device. Another added feature was when a call is happening the app stops all audio coming from the tablet until the call is done.
Like I said before, it's not perfect but at this point, I don't ever see it happening any other way. I found the app a few days ago, it doesn't exist on the app store anymore, unfortunately, I could get it to run. It just kept crashing.
If anyone knows of something then please let us know.
Years later, found just this thread: I want to do similar thing: Use a private phone (for my sake rooted with custom fw) as a hands-free bt device with an unrooted business phone (non-rooted and secure managed with company tool). I also don't want call forwarding or similar. Just do and answer calls, use phone book and call list via bluetooth like my car radio do for years.
Is there still no solution?

[Q] Call/txt forwarding to phone

Hi, I was wondering,
Is it possible to forward calls and txt to my nokia phone from P6200 tab over wifi or bluetooth?
Most of the times, my tab remains in my bag and as a results im missing lots of calls and txt messages. I use my tab as my primary phone, but i have a spare nokia phone in my car glove compartment. I was hoping i could some how connect both of them and use my NOKIA phone as a 2nd screen for my tab. Kinda like those bluetooth watches.
Anyone has any idea?
To put in other words, i am asking if there is a way to mirror my tab onto my nokia phone either via bluetooth or wifi

[TUTORIAL] How to use Gear 2 (Neo) in harmony with other Bluetooth devices

When I bought Gear 2 Neo a week and a half ago, I immediately faced the following issue: how the hell I keep using my Bluetooth earpiece for conducting phone calls? As cool as it looks talking to the Gear, it's not as convenient as wearing an earpiece, and I've been using those for the last 12 years. This new annoyance combined with an old one: when I'm in the car, I want my phone to automatically switch to the car in-built Bluetooth audio, both for phone calls and for media. I don't want to do this manually! And now, with the Gear, just think of the possibility of talking to the watch while driving the car!
Now, the Samsung phone owners have the luxury of being able to switch to the earpiece after picking up the call on the Gear. Not ideal, but workable. Still puzzles me though if you're able to choose a specific Bluetooth phone audio device if you have more than one (e.g. as with the earpiece and the car example). But we, the non-Samsung owners, don't even have this option. So finding a solution was due!
So, here are my use cases:
When I'm not in the car, I'd like the phone to be connected to the Gear all the time while not in the call. This makes sure I get all the notifications etc.
When not in the car and I'm engaged in a call, I'd like Bluetooth phone audio to switch to my earpiece as soon as possible. This automatically disconnects the Gear, meaning I'm no longer able to receive notifications on it. But this is not an issue, as, when I'm on the phone, I prefer not to be distracted anyway. At the end of the call I want Bluetooth audio to reconnect back to the Gear.
When I'm in the car, I'd like my phone to connect to the built-in Bluetooth phone and audio. I would like to stay it like this for as long as my car audio system is on. This means I won't receive any notifications on the Gear, but I reckon this is rather good while driving. When my car audio is off, I'd like the phone to automatically reconnect back to the Gear.
There are two pieces of software that helped me with achieving this:
Tasker. It's not free, but is worth every cent you spend on it. What's more, you can download a 7-day free trial to play with this guide before you commit to buying it.
Secure settings. All the functionality you need for this guide is included in the free version.
My triggers are:
Phone ringing or off hook and not in the car: connect to the earpiece
Phone idle and not in the car: connect to the Gear
Car application is launched (happens automatically when I plug my HTC One M8 into its car holder): toggle car mode on, which, in turn, connects to the car Bluetooth
Power disconnected (which is what happens when I turn car engine off or pull the phone from the car holder) and the car mode was on: toggle car mode off
Car mode switched off: connect to the Gear
Device boot: connect to the Gear
Now, you can import the attached file into Tasker on your phone and give it a go. You will need to go and replace the device MAC addresses and names with YOUR devices first (in Secure Settings configuration for each and every relevant task).
If you don't have in-car Bluetooth, just disable the corresponding profiles.
Now, there are some things that need improvement:
Right now I can't answer the calls on the Gear even if I want (e.g. if I forgot my earpiece at home or if it's out of battery). The reason for this is the way Secure Settings plugin performs BT Connect action: it disconnects the currently connected device first and only then tries connecting the other device. Also, there is no way to figure out if this connection was successful or not. I'm thinking of implementing a special toggle that will disable automatic earpiece connection on user request.
One scenario that is not properly implemented yet is switching from in-car BT to the earpiece while in the call (e.g. when you arrive at your destination while talking on the phone and want to live the car without disconnecting the call). Right now this requires manual intervention.
Unfortunately, Bluetooth connectivity of many devices is still quite buggy. I often find that, despite the fact the phone shows it's connected to the device, the audio is not going through. Or the device doesn't think it's connected (both happen quite often with my in-car BT). Usually, what helps in this situations is resetting Bluetooth on the phone or on the device or on both. I'm thinking of adding BT off/on action before any device switch just to improve reliability. However, sometimes the device needs to be reset, which may be easy (e.g. turning the earpiece off and on) or not (you can't turn the in-car BT off without stopping the engine).
That's all for now. Feedback is appreciated!
Great add thank you!

I'm having difficulty opening your file below. Do you open it using tasked, open via file explorer and edit or open via service manager. I also have the m8 and appreciate all the work you've done. I'm fairly new to tasked so figured it would be easier to change your file and then load it.

I have appradio 2. Is there a way to modify this to always disconnect the gear and connect the car radio when I plug in USB from the radio?
You can also accomplish all this with LLama profiles which is a free application
I ended up making my own. Was better as now I have some working knowledge of tasker and secure settings. I dont have Bluetooth in my car so was a little easier.
One thing I did add was a 5 second wait/delay so I can still look at who is calling on the watch, decide if i want to answer or reject from the watch and then if I do answer it automatically disconnects the Gear and allows you to talk through the phone or earpiece.
Thats my only addition as it maintains some function of the watch to allow screening of calls without pulling phone from pocket.
There is a bluetooth setting if you'll only use it for media or phone calls or both )
Just sayin

because instead of disconnecting and reconnecting your watch you can leave it on and choose another device for voice calls and or notifications

The problem is the phone can have only one device connected to it using phone headset profile and it won't use any other profile (e.g. multimedia) for making calls.

I need some resolve to me after the call is automatically disconnected BT Handset Gear2 but have remained constantly connected. Do with Timo anyone have experience? Thank you.
I solved this by using an nfc tag as a switcher! I bought an Nfc tag for just 25cents and I wrote on it with the free app Trigger... When I get in the car I swipe the phone on the nfc tag and it connects to the car BT and when I swipe the phone again it switches back to the gear!

[EDIT]
Hi,
I'm trying with Llama, can you give me some help?
I add a new condition "ringing", but I don't understand the related action. Per my understanding I need to disconnect the GEAR, but I cannot find the specific action.
Ok, I understand that is needed Secure Setttings, but I still not able to do what I need: when the action is executed, I need to disconnect gear...
Ok, now everything is OK.
Just to clarify for who is not able to import che xml for Tasker or just want to use Llama that is free.
It is necessary to install "Secure Settings" and to create a Local Plugin Action, involving Secure Settings.
In Secure Settings, selecting the BT connect/disconnect action, it is possible to select from a list of paired device on which of them perform the "connect/disconnect" action
Thanks a lot.

Smartphone as a car navigation

I warmly welcome.
I will note in advance that I do not know if in the appropriate department.
And now to the point ...
I have an old, unused HAMMER ENERGY smartphone with Android 7.0
I would like to convert it into a car phone ... namely, I mean that the phone would only be used as a navigation. Plus some music via BT.
I am curious how to do it best, whether to upload a pure android and only navigations, or maybe there are some interesting "car" modifications
Maybe e.g. protection against a stolen car if the phone were inside,
or some video recorder additionally.
I don't quite know what else you can think of in this topic.
I depend on your experience, I want to play with the phone.
greetings
For me I use my old mi max as car navigation in the car. It's not screen makes waze/gmaps easier to see.
No modifications needed. Just a good car phone mount, car phone charger and a shortcut to the music /navigation app you use most frequent will do.
You might want to pop in a sim card with data or share your data connection with that phone. For me it's simple, i set it to auto share my wifi whenever my phone is connected to my car ice system via BT.

Question Really Galaxy watch 4 can't be connected to Galaxy tablet?

Hi, just bought the galaxy watch4, I can pair it with galaxy active tab 3 but wearable app gives error, I've read around that samsung tablet doesn't permit to connect to a samsung watch, it's abosolutely redicolous! How could I fix this problem?
Thanks
You can't pair the watch with the tablet, but if you want to use the watch without pairing it with the phone, you can hold press the galaxy wearable icon as shown on the video:
thank s for your kind answer, I don't understand the meaning of this video, it seams a way to skip the pair process present at beginning to use the watch. But I need werable app working on phone to receive notificationsm manage calls and so on. The werable app don't want to pair when is installed on tablets, that's amazing but true.
Maybe I can pair somehow, but to receive just datas about blood pressure and so on, useless.
As I know, the only way left is to hack phone and change its ID, so the app will believe it's a phone and it will work.
Samsung support is horrible, they just joke you, they promise they understood the problem and fix it soon, to reply within 24h, all bull*ts
Con somebody please tell me if I can buy a watch from another brand and have it working on this Galaxy tablet? Maybe through Google Waer OS app? Thank you for your kind answer
