Bootloop after installing TWRP Oreo - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hey everyone,
Im currently having issues with installing TWRP on my S8+ SM-G955F. I installed 8.0.0 Oreo Stock Firmware on my phone using this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/development/rom-galaxy-s8-t3749444
This worked very well and I had no issues here, but when I tried to install recovery using this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/guide-how-to-install-twrp-root-galaxy-t3752492 I got stuck in a bootloop and I'm wondering why. I'm not very experienced with this kind off stuff but I like to have root on my phone for all kinds off stuff but I cannot get it to work, is someone able to help me out?
Thanks a lot.

Same here are you just getting a clean samsung s8+ screen restarting, so no errors like only official binaries can be flashed etc. Make sure that in your developer options you have oem unlock enabled,
Mine was and still no luck so i will be trying to install via adb when my week timer runs out, hopefully i have more luck that way , will post if i get a result

Shield Tablet LTE stuck at Bootmenue/Bootloop

Hey Folks,
got some messy Prob's with my old nVidia Shield LTE Tablet.
The Facts:
-KillSwitch not Triggered and it was succesfully Rooted in November 2015, TEGRA-OTA was also Removed (nomoreota)
-worked for Months (beneath one year), only Super-SU penetrated me periodely that it needs to be Updated, but it couldnt be done, it said "not enough Space" after trying to install a newer Version. :silly:
-past Month (January 2017) i decided to do a Factory-Reset, because Girlfriend should get the Shield, thats where the Problem started:
After clicking Factory-Reset, it began to work. After 4 Hours and nothing happening, i decided to Power it Off and start fresh with Installing a clean Stock-ROM and remove the TEGRA-OTA as i done a year before.
But from now on things get messy and to complicated for me.
In the Past i rooted and flashed it with "Shield-RAM", found here on xda.
But this Time it didnt ended with a working Shielt-Tablet. It stucks alwas in a Bootloop, in Recoverymode also as in normally booting the flashed OS.
Confused an disturbed by this, i tried different Recoverys (TWRP 2.8 and 3.0, also a CWM), all with the same Effect: Bootloop
Now i only can acces the Bootmenue which says Bootloader Unlocked.
I dont now what to do from here on and would be very happy and glad, if someone can help me figuring out whats going wrong.
If further Details are needed i will do my best to provide things i forgot here to mention.
With kind regards - ToxicFighter1

Hi !
There is this thread where you can try to get it back to stock https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/unofficial-update-original-shield-t3281541
This nice index may help as well
Good luck !
Thanks, but that's not the problem. If I boot into Fastboot / Bootloader, it's totally fine. In fact, I can plug the tablet up to my PC when it's in any state and doesn't experience the issue. It only occurs when I have it plugged into AC. SO far, I've tried 3-4 different cables and power supplies for 2.4A, 2.1A, and 1.2A - all adapters which worked 100% prior to updating.
Suggestions?
OK - Finally fixed it...
I replaced everything as shown above, but ran into the issue again as soon as FlashFire installed the OTA. So, I tried a different way to upgrade and no longer have the issue. Below is what I did...
- Installed 4.4.0 via ADB/fastboot wirhOEM recovery
- Completed initial setup and upgraded to 5.0 via built in system update
- Rebooted
- Booted to bootloader and flashed TWRP recovery
- Booted to TWRP
- Installed SuperSU via sideload
I would have started out applying 5.0 via adb/fastboot, but have yet to see a full image available yet. Used same TWRP and SuperSU as originally used. Just eliminated GlashFire from process. Once I rebooted and everything loaded, plugged into 2.4a power, and it worked without going into boot loop.
Hope this may help someone else - Thanks
Hey Folks,
thx for the few answers, i'll try these Tips out the upcomig Days.
Lot'a Stuff to do atm, bit Busy.

Hey there, and personally Thx for the provided Link.
As announced i did try it, but with no Success.
I'll or explicit the Tablet gets Stuck at Step 17, the Bootsreen doesn't disapear.
Dont know whats Wrong, cause i did all as menitioned in the Post, every ADB/Fastbootstep with Succes-Message, and because Bootloader was already Unlocked, i took the Rooted Image.
But now, im still on Bootscreen, sick
With kind regards!

Bootloop after installing Xposed on Oreo, Bit of help would be appreciated.

After searching around and not being 100% sure on how I should go about fixing this particular bootloop I decided to post a thread. Bootloader unlocked, phone unlocked, FRP unlocked, and TWRP installed. Can't seem to get the phone recognized when plugged in no matter where I'm at and hisuite recovery doesn't work, nor does the erecovery or whatever it's called. I had the phone running just fine with supersu but after installing my usual Xposed/Busybox and rebooting I got caught in a bootloop. (might have been caused by being on Oreo and having some problems with a version made for Nougat or something). I've seen there are various ways to exit the loop and at this point I'd be open to any but I do notice some posts saying they almost bricked their phone while doing so. Currently on my microSD I've got a hwota update I was going to try to use. I've got no backups in TWRP either because I'm irresponsible (my fault). What can I do to just wipe the phone, reinstall any version of android and get back to where I was at. I'm a little new to this as I've only ever rooted my tablet. Thanks for the help and all the info I've taken from this forum before and hopefully now. Forgot to mention I don't know my full device number only MHA-L29 in the US.
Ok Well after laying in bed and thinking about it I wound up running HWOTA8 from TWRP since I could access that. Seemed to just bring me back to eRecovery, and I factory reset my phone. I'll reinstall TWRP and flash supersu then make a backup and try again. Not sure what happened but I seemed to be in a pretty good spot since I could access TWRP even though my phone wouldn't show up on my computer while in fastboot/Recovery mode.
edit: oh I got a new problem now. I'm on testkeys firmware, camera, sim, and bluetooth work but I can't update from 7 back to 8. I'll do more testing around before bothering to unlock bootloader or install TWRP.
I've been trying to follow the guide in this thread but to no avail. I just get software install failed and then I have to start again.
Well another day of searching google and XDA trying to figure out guides and I don't think I'm any closer to a solution to getting off test-keys. Some seem to suggest that you need to go back to MM, some suggest running HWOTA, some suggest the three button recovery and others say that won't work at all. I'm not sure I've ever felt this confused haha. I'll keep at it but there has to be some way to get to a build that has the updater on it since that's all I seem to be lacking to get off test-keys. I can even search the settings for the updater but when you press it nothing happens. It's like they completely removed any sort of updating this build can do.

Model: MHA-L29
Build: NRD90M test-keys
EMUI version: 5.0.1
Android version: 7.0
I believe I was originally on some variant of MHA-L29C567 since I'm US based and its the dual sim version
I've tried using HWOTA a few times to either upgrade/update or rebrand and no matter what I choose when my phone restarts to install I just get software install failed. Usually I'll have to run through first time setup again. I've read that some people said this particular issue had to do with the update zips but mine seem to be named correctly so all I can think of doing is getting another firmware and trying again with that.
haha okay so I found out I was putting the update zips in the wrong folder. I fixed that and re ran HWOTA. update started/finished and my phone started booting and restarting a lot then went into erecovery. I'm downloading the update package right now and it's slow as hell but it's moving. And that failed leaving me to boot a few times and then get back to erecovery. I'll try getting into fastboot or recovery.
Edit: Well that seems to have resolved itself now. After having the erecovery fail I wiped/factory reset and booted the phone into oreo 8.0.0.321 with all the apps and updater. Thanks to everyone who dropped in and I'll be getting emails if someone replies that needs help too. I'm not very knowledgeable but I can give it a shot.

Need help rooting and custom recovery

Hey all,
I'm trying to root my phone and I keep running into issues.
I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
and when it comes to the flashing recovery section, I keep ending up in Qualcom crash dump.
I took the advice on another thread and tried using Blu-spark 9.8.6.
Whilst that booted into temp recovery, everything was encrypted and illegible, so I couldn't do anything.
I am on Pie, stock ROM.
How can I get this phone rooted? I was hoping to install xXx.
What info do you need to help me?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: To be a little clearer, when it boots in temp recovery, it asks me for a password to decrypt the data. I've tried all passwords I know, non work. Hence why it is encrypted.
Even if I work out how to get past the encryption stage, how do I know I won't run into other issues?
Is there a guaranteed root and recovery method for Pie?
EDIT EDIT: Worked it out. I had to turn off security settings. No ****.
Hopefully I don't tun into any more issues. About to flash Magisk.
Ok, phone booted up fine and seems to be rooted with magisk.
One last question.
xXx says that I must have TWRP to flash. I do have TWRP, but it is Blu spark version.
Does that matter?
EDIT: Flashing ROM now. Hopefully all is well.
Thanks anyone who was going to reply to my initial question. Everything seems to be working.

[Please help!] Unable to root Samsung S7 8.0

So first off I would say I am average in the world of modifications, I know the basics. I used to run a stock Nougat rom with Magisk.
Being the clumsy fool that I am, I dropped my phone and the screen broke. I went to a Samsung service center and deposited my phone there for screen replacement and they decided to update my phone for no reason...
As my phone was rooted, after forcing an update on my phone a soft brick happened and they had to flash a new firmware which meant that I lost everything. Now I am running latest stock Oreo 8.0.
I tried these things to root my phone again:
(The first thing I did was flashing twrp through odin)
#1: Downloaded Magisk and a decryptor for getting past the locked bootloader... flashed them both using recovery (twrp works 100%), and my phone got stuck on the Samsung S7 - powered by android after a reboot from recovery. Waited for a long time. Tried a lot of alternatives on this method but got stuck..
#2 After I gave up on rooting the firmware I was given, I decided to go back on my old Nougat firmware which used to work flawlessly... so I had the nougat firmware on my computer but this time Odin gave me an error along with some red text on top right in download mode. I looked up the error and it basically meant that I cannot revert back to Nougat anymore (which is surprising as I could easily swap between Nougat and Marshmallow but I can't do the same with Oreo and Nougat)
Quote from a person on the internet: ''SW REV CK FAIL usually means that you are not flashing the most current released firmware version. Most Samsung devices will not let you downgrade. You have to flash what was previously installed or higher Android version.''
#3 I was frustrated. I tried using a last resort.. downloaded a custom rom which has root included called ''Galaxy Project''... Flashed it using twrp and got a bootloop for 2 hours. To get past the bootloop I had to download Oreo stock rom and flashed it using Odin. That worked.. I'm back on stock Oreo again... back to square one.
Please help out a stumped Android enthusiast... I have spent 2 days on this... but no solution works. My phone is not in danger of a hard brick as I can always revert to stock Oreo using Odin but having root would be nice.
I am having average experience, I know just the basics... please help me out and tell me what to do in a step by step manner.. I will try everything and report the findings till I finally come across a method which works.
EDIT: My phone model is G930FD

How to downgrade HTC U11+ from Android Pie?

Already created thread in the wrong place https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3952280
I have HTC U11+ TW version. Ever since I got the Pie update, my phone is freezing a lot. I need to force restart it 10+ times a day. I tried factory reset, clear cache, etc. Nothing works. I did not have any experience with flashing, but I have been reading a lot. I have my bootloader unlocked with S-ON.
My current build number is 2.15.709.1, since I wanted to downgrade, I tried flashing stock image HTC_U11+_TW_1.24.709.999_Images_OTA using fastboot (no TWRP). My phone went into a bootloop when I did that. I think this is because I can only flash an image with the same build number? Anyway, I flashed a HTC_U11+_TW_2.15.709.1_Images_OTA image and my phone is back to where it was, Android Pie (no bootloop), but still freezing a lot.
I found the HTC_DevInfo_Tool.zip tool on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/guide-downgrade-htc-u11-oreo-to-nougat-t3754481, but I am not sure if it will work on my phone.
Can someone advise what should I do to downgrade? Also did anyone face a similar problem after the update?
I found someone tried what I wanted to do here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-u11/help/error132-signature-error-downgrade-htc-t3948079
Looks like it wont work?
