We need root for 8.0 HU
Maby malaysk or others developers will share the metod to root. To inject supersu.
It is not fair to have the "monopoly" of rooting PX5 8.0 HU.
@Malaysk need to share hes metod for rooting.
Here on XDA it is not place for ego. It is not a bussiness and a good developer has not fear for concurence. Wee are stuck with one custom ROM becouse nobody are finding the method for rooting 8.0
All of us are here on XDA for learning, sharing and dezvolt software. I hope, somebody, or Malaysk will post the metod for rooting PX5 8.0 HU
Thank you!

Did you try kumarai's method?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75741195&postcount=519
This is Magisk instead of superSU.
In my case HA made PX5-2G unit succeeded and GS made PX5-4G unit did not boot.
The same in my case...
The answer of Kumaray was: I do not have the HU any more for testing/release a good root metod
Maby we must start to donate for a brand new P5X 4G 8.0 HU to this developer.
I managed to Root GS unit and it should work on any Unit. Just it's a bit complicated. But have a look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcd-software-development/px5-oreo-rom-t3736950/page69

Boot image needs to be modified. In Oreo everything is signed so it's not only one problem. Other is I have a problems with unpacking and repacking for our PX5 proccessor. I spend few hours today and there is some progress but you need to be patient.

I just wanted to request if you could please work on a Magisk rooting method instead of SuperSU? The reason is the magisk modules. Anyone can then easily install xposed or viper4android or whatever they want right from magisk manager. With SuperSU you are unable to do these things easily as I'm sure you're aware.
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this and thank you very much in advance.

To everybody that had a black screen after trying the kumarai's method:
I too had the black screen, waited for about 2 minutes then I rebooted the HU from the reset button (not from the power button) and it booted. Everything is ok, Magisk installed and updated.

You're stuck with one custom rom because one person dedicated their time and resources to creating one. The tools and knowledge are all out there for anyone else, including yourself, to give it a shot. Until someone else comes along and wants to donate hours from their lives to develop software for what is, a fairly small and insignificant niche market in the overall android scene, I guess we should be thankful for the ones that do it. I can also pretty much tell you that the second someone finds an easily repeatable process for obtaining root, we're not going to suddenly faced with an overwhelming amount of roms to choose from. The PX3 has been rooted for quite some time and there are two custom roms available for it to this day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes i successfully rooted my tablet with this method, the only one that worked for me.
Try using google translate with the url of the website, but it's simple. You only needs to install PdaNetZ350.exe for the drivers (you can uninstall the program later) and run the .bat file (PSparky-VonDroid-Root) with the tablet connected to the pc.

Check the existing thread. Everything you need has already been explained.
@jonas.anderssen
Why exactly do you want to root? Because you have a specific need, a particular application that you can't live without? Or because it's super-cool to have a rooted phone? Rooting can be simple, but it brings difficulties, such as no longer being able to install OTA updates, so you're looking at doing manual updates every month every time Google releases a new version with security updates.

There are countless threads here and also dedicated stickied threads describing step by step how to do this. If you want someone to hold your hand and don't want to do any of the reading or work, then you shouldn't root your phone. Because you'll just be on here in a month crying about how your phone is bricked and wanting someone to hold your hand again.

Hello, i am sorry i thought i replied to you but somehow i missed it. I would like to root my secondary phone because i do have some apps i cant use them without a unrooted phone. I am aware that i wont be able to install weekly updates but thats not necessary because this is a secondary phone.
I have found out a website that shows me how to root it it asked me to download fastboot, recovery clockworl. beta supersu, android studio and hamemrhead mmb2. It seems to be a complex issue but i remember in the past i used ODIn and it rooted the phone within 10 seconds without any issue. Is that still possible?
Thank you again for your time
Ten seconds, no.
But the website says to download "hamemrhead mmb2", which I suppose is Hammerhead MMB29S. If all you want is root, and not a new ROM, you can do it easily by booting into recovery (CWM or TWRP) and installing SuperSU v2.66. It's that easy. 30 seconds, maybe.
And if you're going to work on your phone you need to work on your typing skills first...
You have an excellent resource in this Q&A section, had you read prior to posting your own thread, you probably would be rooted by now.

Hi guys
I'm looking to update the firmware on this old tablet as it's a bit out of date and a bit sluggish it's been a long time since I've rooted or flashed anything android. I own a Linux satellite receiver and have flashed firmware images bootloader etc so hoping this will help me. I'm basically looking for a guide from start to finish to bring this tablet a bit more up to date, hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

What to download is in the thread (rom, gapps and twrp), and you can find instructions all over the internet. I've wrote something in my thread of lineage 16 and twrp on how to install them (lineage 16 has the same instructions as the other ROMs I've linked you) too. What I advice you is to understand well what you have to do before doing everything. Otherwise, it can happen that you'll come back and say: "device doesn't boot anymore, what to do now?"
Yes I'm trying to gather as much information as I can so as to avoid any problems when I actually try to do the flash process. I will read up some more.
Thanks again

Not that I know of yet we're all sill rooting via magisk until a kind DEV has some time and patience to port one from an existing A series possibly. (HINT,HINT) LOL.
Good day all!
I was looking for a budget tablet to replace my Amazon Fire 7, and stumbled across the Digiland DL1036. I'm very pleased with the quality for the price. It's fast, clean, and has a great and responsive screen. Anyways...
I did manage to unlock the bootloader. Now I am looking for a successful root method that way I can install a custom ROM should one become available. I am ADB capable, so if someone has been successful with rooting this tablet, I'd love to know your process so I can complete the root. I thought about trying Magisk but I'd rather not use a spoof. Thanks!
To flash a Custom ROM it's NOT required tablet's Android gets rooted before. All what is needed is a suitable Custom Recovery like TWRP.
