[APP] Countdowns+ - Android Apps and Games

Is your life a succession of repetitive tasks that run one after another and you fear forgetting one?
Do you have to make a cooking recipe and you're sick of having to generate a countdown in your clock app every time you start one of the subtasks?
I make my own bread at home and the first kneading is a task that lasts about 80 minutes: "knead for 5 minutes, wait 20 minutes for the time to act and the dough to take consistency and repeat up to 4 times"...
It is a very repetitive task and many times it has happened to me that I forgot to program the next timer.
To facilitate that kind of tasks and not forgetting me again, I decided to develop Countdown + and today I put it at your disposal...
With Countdown+ you can create all the countdowns you want and assign each of them an begin text, a done text, a runtime and an order of execution, so that they all run in sequence ...
In addition, from the task bar you can pause a countdown, assign more time and much more!
Please, report issues and request for additions here.
Thanks

I'm really a bit hallucinated, or rather sore.
After the review of XDA the app has been downloaded less than 200 times, which does not surprise me because it is not the type of app that most XDA users love, but the fact is that I received 5 ratings, 3 of them from 1 star apparently for privacy concerns.
Is it that nobody stops to think about the hours that must be dedicated to the development of an application?
Is it that nobody stops to think that the laws forces to indicate the use made of the data before the first use and that it is precisely the apps that are not indicating it by those that act badly?
Is it that nobody stops to think that sometimes generic statements are made but that it is not possible to access contacts, calendar, calls, etc. if explicit permission is not asked for it?
Does anyone really think?
Sorry for the roll, but it's all very frustrating!

This app is exactly what I've needed in my hectic life!
I've tried other apps only to find myself using them here and there. But this one is spot on!
I left a solid review on the Play Store for you mate!
Great job!
Cheers

[APP] NameBuzz - A new concept for Caller ID, and SMS ID.

Hey Guys,
Was hoping for a bit of constructive feedback. Wrote an app called NameBuzz:
A new concept in incoming Caller ID and SMS ID technology. Silently know who's calling, without your phone leaving your pocket!
- Vibrate pattern based on syllables in contact name
- Create custom vibrate patterns per contact
- Speak contact name out loud
- Vibrate on call end
- Press volume key to disable during call
Click to collapse
The idea is that with only 5 or so people calling you regularly, their syllables should be enough for you to differentiate between people. And if not, you can always create a custom vibrate pattern for that contact!
As an extra, it also allows you to set up speaking caller ID - for the situations where you don't need your phone to be silent!
You can install with the following link:
NameBuzz Install
It's only tested in English for the time being, and on a Nexus One and Desire Z (HTC Vision).
If anyone gives it a go, feel free to let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Daz.
Cyrket link for all who are on a PC right now with screens : http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.dazbradbury.namebuzz/
Thanks, and here is an appbrain link (good for remote install):

Although, Cyrket does always seem more up to date.
Nice app! If only the voice was more enjoyable not so roboty if possible. The buzzing will take some time to learn, especially if you have friends with similar names..
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!

I think it should be fairly intuitive, as you can work out the number of syllables, and then the name. I would use the testing function a little to familiarise yourself.
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!
Click to collapse
This shouldn't buzz out of control, it will be the pattern of:
Buzz-Pause-Buzz-Buzz-Pause-Buzz - and then repeat.
AIM-space- Mob -ile -space-IM
So AIM = 1 syllable
Mobile = 2 syllables
IM = 1 syllable.
And I put little breaks in to break up words. Does that make sense?
could always use morse code for the vibrate patterns
I think I will try this.
Idea is truly nice. How about Froyo Support!

Hi,
Yeh, the problem with morse code is that it would take forever to spell out a name entirely. Plus, someone has already done this. Look for "MorseRing".

Awesome, thanks! However, I guess you should warn people I've only tested this in english, and I coded the text-to-syllable engine to only really work with english letters. Hence, I'm not really sure how it will perform in german! Special accented characters that should be treated as syllable indicators probably won't get picked up...
Let me know if you give it a go, would be interested to know if it's really bad, or just not perfect!

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately, it's a little more tricky than that. I use certain knowledge about english to turn words into a number of syllables. Hence, it's not really a translation as such. I will have a think... if I can make into a translatable list, I will be sure to let you know!!

Is it just me or is this App no longer available in the Market? I've tried numerous barcodes and looked under Tools but only get told the app cannot be found.
Is there an actual install file available I can download so I can install this manually? I had it on my phone but my phone died and took the program with it.

I think I found the problem with this app not showing up in the Market for me. My phone was missing an update and once I performed it, NameBuzz showed up and installed without a glitch.
Great app. Makes phone calls a little easier to screen.
NameBuzz 1.2 now available:
- Works in collaboration with in-built ringer state. If your phone is in silent, it won't vibrate/speak, if in vibrate mode, it will vibrate but not speak, etc...
- Disabled during Call Waiting - simply provides call waiting tone rather than vibrating.
- Add custom speech text (ie. Incoming Call from Joe Bloggs)
- Added ability to set silent ringtone.

[APP] Promethium = Geolocation & Lost Phone App

Hi,
After the success of the beta programme (over 100 people wanting to signup!) I decided it was time to re-write the platform to allow me to add more features and improve the overall "feel" of it. I also have plans to commercialise the platform, allowing it to be used by businesses/individuals who wish to monitor devices remotely.
The client application for Android is available freely from here and can be included in a custom ROM if you wish to make it persistant across factory resets. I do ask that if your are a ROM developer that you let me know before you do this, and also credit me in your release notes.
There will be 3 main licenses available to you:
Basic
Standard - comming soon
Expert - comming soon
(These apply to your account)

I am also considering the possibility of an API which a business could use to extract information and use it in their own way. Please contact me if you are interested.
How to install?
Remove any older versions from your device
Install the latest version from above
Goto "http://promethium.mobi" and signup
On your phone, follow the instructions to register your device against your account
Login to "http://promethium.mobi" and have fun!
I haven't moved any old accounts over, so you should signup again.

Hi,
I have created a geolocation app a bit like MobileMe or htcsense.com for any Android 2.2 device with Market. Allows you to show your device on a map and make the alarm sound, all via a web portal.
http://promethium.mobi/
This site is the main portal, There will be limited accounts to start with, just 20. These will be BETA accounts as I need people to trial the system to get feedback etc. Currently the email address has to be unique, but doesn't need to be a valid address, however this will be useful when you try and report issues.
Once you have signed up, the latest APK for the client application will be downloadable from the portal toolbar. This app will ask for the same login credentials used on the portal, and once connected you are ready to use the portal functions.
Check the site periodically, as I will allow more signups as the application progresses.
Please can we keep all bug reports within this thread, I would rather develop this in the open.
Enjoy,
Rich

OK people!
Thanks to all those who already registered, just a few spaces left if people want to signup. Please only signup if you are happy to engage in helping me improve this platform... any accounts created but not activated within a day will be removed!
So far I have made quite a few alterations, improvements to the UI on the portal, as well as more interactive feedback. This means that you need to re-download and install the client app - this will overwrite the current one, and will keep all existing settings
Enjoy!

One more suggestion though, idk if it's possible, could you have it force turn on gps? I normally leave it off so if I actually do lose my phone, it would just give me the giant radius of the cell tower location...
Also, I notice you're using dyndns. Is the computer/server you're running it on going to be up 24/7?
**EDIT**
One more suggestion, a "My Phone's Location" button on the portal that snaps to the location and centers it.

Sorry, starting from Android 1.5 cupcake, you cannot programmatically toggle GPS. It should be fine to leave it enabled though.

Hitting "Refresh Location" does this now, but it takes up to 5 seconds to move across the map, I will look at making it snappier

I have read through the SDK documentation and the best you can do is prompt the user to enable it. So kind of misses the point
I have also altered the JavaScript code so that clicking on the location refresh button zaps you to the marker instantly, but you still have to wait until the phone updates the server to see the latest result

Thanks for the positive feedback - glad you like it so far.
Yes, more features will be coming soon, including a "Lock" ability. This is quite a complicated one though, might require the user to select a "secure" lock screen prior to first use.
I also thought of some wicked uses for the Nexus S, but that will have to wait until I get time ( here's a clue: Peekaboo! )

Re: [APP][FREE] 2.3+ FacebookMagic, News feed messages as an live data wallpaper
Unfortunately, 12 hour updates makes this app broken for all intents and purposes. Can't test how it affects performance or battery usage. A trial version would be better. Allow users to choose update frequency for a set amount of days, then it locks to 12 hours would work wonderfully.

This. Impossible to test it as it is, so won't bother. An hour would have been better. All that text on your home screen is likely going to conflict with icon text etc, so it's important to see what happens over the course of the day with it continually changing.

Fleksy impressions

I'll keep it short. Even with it's faults, fleksy on the gear 2 is pretty kick a** especially living in NY. It may not seem much to have the option of typing on your wrist as opposed to typing on the smartphone but for me it's huge especially living and travelling within NYC. In my business I have my clients text me as opposed to email, it's an option that helps keep me competitive.
After one day I am appreciating (especially in a crowded subway, where media controller has been great too) to reply to text It's actually a little fun to watch fleksy turn vuysman into vitamin or cilfnia into california. I always tell folks when they see my gear 2 is what it comes down to "Does this product make my life easier?" - even before fleksy...a little bit but now that it is here even in beta yeah...it increases my productivity. Yeah I know it's not perfected but I'm thankful they released it in beta form (which still makes my life easier.)
Thank you Fleksy. You were 2 months late and I was ticked off when this wasn't at launch but like an awesome guest at a party, better late than never.
I agree with you that the watch and Fleksy app is making my life easier but since I also want to text using my native language it prety much becomes an obselete app to those that doesn't speak english or to those I want to text in Greek.

I believe they will be improving Fleksy, but I got 2 great tips from another that help with it: 1. Put it on your shortcut clock to get to it quicker. 2. Take your most called/Texted contacts and add asterisks ** to the beginning of them, so that they come to the top of the Contact list. This way you can find them quickly to get to the threads.

#2 - isn't that what "favorites" is for in the phone contacts? Even Samsung gives an option to show favorites instead of all contacts on the watch - they should do that instead of forcing people to do that workaround.

No either

Reinstall the app to solve the space and delete problems

It's my favourite app. Keep up the good work
These posts gave me some ideas, so I decided to try stuff out.
I found that if you are at the end of a word and you swipe down it will cycle between different words that are similar.
If you insert a period, and then swipe down it will cycle through punctuation marks!

Looking good! An option to exclude certain apps like Nova Launcher would be nice.

Thanks for the suggestion. Great idea!
It would also be nice to be able to monitor a remote phone (opening up the app to for parental monitoring for example).
This could be achieved by either allowing to :
- send a daily report by mail
- having a client app with data synced whenever a connection is avaialable
- sending data to a central server
...
anyway to export the data as .csv ?
Hello, thanks for app!
Any chance to remove "full network access" from permissions in future ?
Heya! Congrats on making the portal. Good stuff you got there.
Here's some suggestions for the intro texts:
Part 1 - Current
"Do you want to know how do you use your smartphone?
You have installed this app, so the answer will surely be affirmative.
With this app you can know with what apps you lose your time; time which you could lose living your real life..."
Part 1 - Suggested
"Would you like to know how you use your smartphone?
Well, as you've already installed this app, that'll be an affirmative!
By gathering statistics about your apps with Phone Usage Monitor, you'll know where your precious time is creeping off to. Time you might want to spend on living your real life..."
Part 1 - Motivation
The second "do" doesn't really have a function in the first sentence and I made it a bit softer to make a more friendly first impression. I mentioned the app's name to remind the user what's going to help them (branding, be proud of your creation). I stayed true to your intention, the reference to 'real life', but made that a bit softer as well by using "might" and not mentioning a negative word like "lose". We're all winners here!
Part 2 - Current
"To let us know this information we will run a service in the background to monitor the use you make of your smartphone.
Quiet!, it will not consume more than a little bit of the precious battery of your mobile..."
Part 2 - Suggested
"You're probably wondering how much battery this app will consume. Don't worry, just a tiny bit.
Think about the time you will save after gaining all this usage intel. You won't even need as much battery anymore."
Part 2 - Motivation
Shouting "Quiet!" doesn't come across very friendly. There's also never a comma after an exclamation mark. I wrote the text to match the battery icon better. I'm also pushing the major goal of the app forward.
Part 3 - Current
"We will give you more information if you let us see how do you use the apps in your device..."
Part 3 - Suggested
"Sorry to bother you but I will need some usage access in order to provide you with all these awesome statistics. Is that okay with you?"
Part 3 - Motivation
"let us see" gives the impression multiple people or a company will be watching along, which totally isn't the case. I wrote it a bit more personal, fun and friendly.
Part 4 - Current
"Do not worry!
The data we collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Suggested
"Do not worry!
The data I collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Motivation
As in part 3, It's better to speak from a first person point of view, "I" instead of "we". It's just the app and the user, "you and me", which is a more comforting thought.
Instead of "START APP" I'd use something more vivid like "Lets go!" or "Show me some numbers!" or "Start saving time!"
The UDPA looks good, people are used to not reading these disclaimers and accepting them anyway. It's also a nice reminder that even if there is a "we", it's literally stating no personal data will be collected on any server. Kudos! :highfive:
I personally don't like the last paragraph but ah well, one has to make a living, right?
Looking forward to those stats...

I need to think on it.
I would not like it to be used without consent to spy on anyone :/

Sorry, but Internet permission is needed to display Ads.
I understand that you do not believe in my word when I say that I am not sending data anywhere, but I need to access the Internet to load the Ads
Please add export data functionality! Csv format for example. Great app otherwise, thanks!
Crashing
Hi,. Unfortunately the app crashes every time I open it on my OnePlus 6 that runs Android 9. The first time run screens work fine and permissions are assigned ok but then I can't open the app. I have tried clearing the storage/cache and that hasn't helped. Any ideas what to try next please?
Hi
Assuming you're rooted, please, post a logcat or send by email.
Thanks

OK, I will try it by my self
Hello
I've tried but no luck reproducing the issue.
If possible, enter app settings then enable debug mode then reproduce the issue then sent the log file.
If not possible, please, contact by email or PM to receive a debug version of the app to track the issue.
Thanks in advance
