Can't copy MP3 file from PC to GR5-2017 running android 7 - General Questions and Answers

OK, hear me out!
1. I can't copy MP3 files into the phone. I can however copy videos and photos to the phone from the PC via the Huawei HiSuite program or the windows file explorer. On-the-other-hand there's no option to transfer music in the HiSuite app Or is there?
2. I use media monkey to transfer music to my devices. It shows the files are being transferred but at the end it gives out an error saying the files can't be copied.
3. Through windows file explorer I can see the folders I wanted to copy in to the phone, but those folders are empty. I can not view those folders if I try to view them via my phone. So, I guess the folders somehow are being copied without the files. But I can't view them with the phone, but I can view the folders via the PC. Weird!
HELP!

Hide media folders

Looking for an app, mod, commandline, something, that can make a folder on my SD card, not be read by the gallery.
Id like some stuff to not show up in the gallery by default. The same would be nice for music as well, something that will allow you to select a folder on the SD card to not include music files in the music app.
Anyone know of anything like this, whether it be an ADB command line, something i can do in terminal with su, an app, a mod, etc etc?
Create a file named ".nomedia" and put it in the folder you are trying to omit
Another tip to stop a folders contents showing in Gallery is to simply put a "." (a fullstop/period) infront of the folder name.
Also, to refresh the galleries once you've done the above, go into Dev Tools and run 'Media Scanner'
Thanks for the replies... seems simple enough. Thank you for all the suggestions.
Just to give you a little more breakdown, the easiest way to do this (from a Windows PC) is to create a blank text file on your PC and copy it to the folder on your SD Card, then use an explorer app like Astro File Manager to rename it to .nomedia (since Windows won't let you name a file .nomedia).

That's exactly what I did. Once on my SD card, I used astro to copy paste it to the other directories I wanted to exclude.
Again, thanks for the help.

would that be a working work-around solution for such badly written apps such as Asphalt 5 (which makes its music & sounds appear in the Music playlist)?

[Q]Can only view Internal Storage via PC and not Root

Hi
I rooted and unlocked my one plus and then ran a backup for my EFS Partition using Terminal Emulator app. This created 2 files, modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin, which are on the root of my internal storage. I can see these files on my Root Browser on Phone. However I connected phone to PC and can only see internal storage. I have USB Debugging enabled and MTP. I also De-installed the drive and re-installed and still cannot see it. I tried different ports and also a different USB cable but still the same. I want to copy these files to my PC to have as back up
Anything else I should try?
Thanks
Are you able to see any other personal files/folders on your phone?
Don't have access at the moment but from memory it just showed folders like music, download. data, DCIM etc I think.
I was thinking if I could copy the files using file manager on the phone to one of the folders I can view then save these on my PC. That work? Would still like to know why I cannot see root files on my PC
Thanks

Yeah, I think you'll need to put them into one of the folders and then you should be able to see them using your PC. As to why this happens I have no idea though.

Do you know of any way to enable root viewing of the internal storage? So that I can just use Windows Explorer to view it?

[Resolved] Can't copy titanium backup files to PC [LGG4]

I used to be able to do this with my Galaxy S5, though that was always on Windows 8, I'm on 10 now.
When I connect to my computer to find my backup folder it is just a blank white icon that is 0kb, but if I look at it with ES File Explorer I can see everything fine. I see no way to upload a folder through onedrive or drive and ES File Explorer won't let me share over 100 files. I have over 600 files in the backup and I don't want to have to manually select all of them.
What is going on? How can I back up my back up to my PC? All other files and such are easily accessible through the computer
Thanks
EDIT: Fixed, if anyone else is having this problem, create a folder from your computer, then move the TB folder into that folder that was created on the computer, and then it should be able to be copied from phone to computer

DCIM folder shown as an empty folder

Hello, I'm not sure if it's a bug or something but lately I have issues connecting OPO with my PC via USB.
Thing is, everything works fine except for the fact that DCIM folder is shown as an empty folder. And no matter what I do, every time I connect my phone that folder is shown as an empty folder.
Every other folder can be browsed normally, media in other folders is visible.
1) no, folder isn't empty
2) no, connection it's not in charging mode. No matter if I set it in MTP or PTP mode, same thing happens. DCIM folder seems empty.
3) tried on couple computers, win7 and win10 os, same thing.
4) doesn't matter if I connect my phone while it's active or in sleep
OnePlus One has latest CM13, it's not rooted.
Any ideas?

Why don't you try connect it via any other medium?
For example,
https://airmore.com/help/android/photo-android-to-pc.html
I'm not saying it's a permanent solution but atleast an alternative for now.

It happened to me too, and I solved with a file manager (I used ES File Explorer Pro).
I created a new "DCIM-new" folder, moved all DCIM contents to "DCIM-new", renamed original DCIM to "DCIM-old" and, finally, renamed "DCIM-new" to DCIM. When reconnected to PC in MTP mode, DCIM content reappeared in Windows Explorer.

Thank you, it's pretty nice app. Would be better if there is something like that but to recognize your device within your local network. Because now I'm limited by my up/down provider bandwidth.

Haven't tried that yet, I'll try and see if it works. Thanks :good:
Did that today and it worked. But somehow it lost 600 files after renaming folder back to DCIM. Old folder had little over 2000 files, now it has 1409. Have no idea what happened.
Was having the same issue, what you have to do is simply plug in your pendrive (if you have one)through otg cable and just copy paste your files to your pendrive and then to your computer.

Android - How to copy new or updated files/folder only like Robocopy in Windows in PC

Hi,
Everytime I clean install my phone, I take backup by from internal to external SD card; I had to do this manually.
Few folders are there, where thousands of files will be there; I tried to find a file browser which can give an option to copy only new/updated file/folder, but couldn't get one.
Currently I use ES file explorer pro, but it only checks for same name file/folder and if you click "Skip" on the popup, it will not check any further.
I do backup in my work and personal PC with windows by Robocopy scripts; is there any tool like robocopy for android?
Thanks!
