What's the stock text editor app on your Huawei mobile phone? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

When I selected and tapped a .txt file in Files app, the text file would be opened with a stock editor app, WPS Office.
But when I tapped that floppy disk icon to save after editing, it seemed that it couldn't save and update that .txt file. It would rather 'Save as' another file.
I wonder why I could not save and update a .txt file directly.
Thank you in advance.

How to associate a file into a different format

With my Shadow/Juno, when I download a picture attached to an email in my Windows Live account, it downloads it as a .txt file and tried to open it in Word and in Word it just displays as a bunch of letters and characters. Is there anyway or is there a program that will let me open the file in the picture display....kind of like the "Open With..." in a Windows OS?
I have found a program called MY Extentions.
With this you can associate any type of file to a program.
Hope it works out for you!

PDF file association

Hi,
I just recently received the HTC HD2, and tried installing clearvue/jetcet pdf viewer, as well as foxit pdf viewer. I didn't like them (the clearvue one didn't even work) so uninstalled them.
I now, however, have lost the file association for my pdf files. I changed it using resco explorer ("always open file with" and "include name in brackets"), and now, all pdf files open woth adobereader LE, but there is still no icon for a pdf file in resco explorer.
When checking the registry, it seems that upon choosing which program to open with, it created a new key; I now have "AdobeReaderLE" and "AdobeReader LE.25 under HKLM/USER/Software.
Anyway, it works, but I do'nt have the icon, and when clikcing "properties" it says that the filetype is unknown. Any way to change this (using the registry)?
Thanks

having issues viewing attachments from email

No matter what type of attachment it is, it shows up with .dat as the format. It will no longer open .jpg, pdf or word and excel files.
Running EB 2.3.3 with the stock email included with the rom. I made sure there are no prefences set for any sofware that would override the attachements. It used to pop up a list of software and allow me to choose how to open the file.
Any thoughts?

Best way to hide some photos in Gallary

Hello, I like to take photos and videos using my Note PRO 12.2 However, it has happened a few times that when I showed people photos/videos in Gallary, those that I did not want to show also showed up. What is the best way to hide these videos/photos? I am using an un-rooted device. Thanks.
Rename those files (or folder containing them) to start with "."
They should not show up on your gallery.

Create a new empty file and name it ".nomedia" without the quotes. It will hide any media in the folder that you place it from any gallery/media app.
Thanks. In the case of putting confidential photos and videos in the folder called .nomedia , how do I view those files?
I guess the above approach is very good if everything is in one folder. If I organize the files into folders like "Summer trip to the US", "winter 2014", "school", "research", etc., it may be a bit inconvenience to move selected files from each folder to one big .nomedia folder or create one such folder inside each bigger folders.
Alternatively, is there a good photos/videos viewer that allows me to drag and drop files or folder to it so that they are perhaps password protected?
Try Quickpic. Under its settings there is a browse menu where you can exclude certain folders.

You're mistaking two things for eachother.
A .nomedia file is a file. You can find one, for example, in the Android folder. It excludes the content of the folder it is located in, as well as any subfolders, from the MediaScanner/Indexing Service process. (Thus the solution for excessive Media battery usage). This excludes the files from the gallery, no matter the gallery setting.
Renaming a folder with .[foldername] does not require it to be called NoMedia, you can call it anything you want. This excludes the folder from apps that have the settings 'exclude folders starting with .' to hide the folder. Meaning you can also show the folders if you want.
Folders with a .nomedia file in it will not show up in the gallery or mediaviewer, but the files can still be opened the normal way from a file explorer.
I've excluded all folders with media in it except for the Alarms, Ringtones and Notifications folders (or the alarm/ringtone won't go off), and opening videos, pdf's and images is done by simply opening the file through a file explorer.
Basically, you can either make a .[foldername] folder and drop them all in there, or make a regular folder, drop all the images in there and copy a .nomedia file into it. The effect will be the same, except that you can choose to show or hide them if you use a .[folder]. .nomedia can not be disabled in the regular gallery. (It can in Quickpic.)

[TIP] Send any apk zip etc by Whatsapp without any extra app

Recently I was searching for a way to send apk to my friend, via whatsapp but since its directly not possible, I was looking for workaround. All Google posts linked a extra app, that combines our other extension file with jpg, so that whatsapp sees that jpg to send it. After being sent, recipient needs that same app, to use it, to extract the original file what we intended to send..., Since This isn't effective solution, due to new documents sending feature in Whatsapp, I thought of way and it works well on latest 2.16.97 (as on May 26- 2016) and wanted to share it. This is so simple solution that any Android power user can easily think of...
1. Go to file explorer and change the original app's extension to "txt"
Example: if you want to send a calculator android app, then if app's name would be like "calculator.apk". Rename that to "calculator.txt"
*I have tried other document formats ppt csv pdf etc, none of them expect "txt" extension works, I didn't try "rtf"..
Note: Dont append ".txt" to original file like example "calculator.apk.txt". Whatsapp refuses to accept these...
2. Share that renamed file with extension "txt" to your friend (Can use Share file from file explorer or Go to Whatsapp->contact->attachment->Documents->Browse to renamed txt file location. Works both ways)
3. Whatsapp will send it and your friend will receive that file at sdcard/whatsapp/Whatsapp Documents
*The file can't be opened directly from whatsapp. If opened, only random characters will be seen..
4. Ask your friend to open File explorer and go to "sdcard/whatsapp/Whatsapp Documents" to spot your file. Then ask you friend to rename txt extension by original extension. Example: if calculator app is sent, "calculator.txt" should be renamed back as "calculator.apk"
5. Thats its!... Max file size of 16MB can be sent by this method...
Thanks for reading and give me a Thumbs up if this idea seems worthwhile to you...
