Access Heart Rate Monitor from phone via bluetooth - Samsung Gear S2

Is there a way to access the HR function on the Gear S2 from my (android) phone as if it was just a HR monitor?
I know I can run an app like Samsung Health or Endomondo on the S2 and have it record my HR, but for super secret reasons known only to me I prefer to run the activity app from my phone. Sadly, in that case, I don't seem to be able to use the S2 HR function.

app for bluetooth heart rate monitor

Is there any app that have stopwatch and can connect bluetooth (or throught any other interface) heartrate monitor to smartwatch without having a phone in proximity? I dont have SW but ability to use it as sportwatch is the only thing I need to get it instead of akwardly looking Omate TrueSmart.

Possible to connect external HR monitor to Gear S3?

Is it possible to connect an external HR sensor like the Wahoo Tickr to the Gear S3 using either Bluetooth or ANT+?
On samungs Web page it says that theres no ant+ radio on the watch. :crying:
So isn't there somebody that have tested the watch with a Bluetooth hrm?
Interested on that as well. As the watch doesn't have ANT+, it can only connect to Garmin compatible HR using the watch (less ideal, need watch on person). As for BT HR, not sure - in the watch menu, one can only find connecting to headset, not HR bands...
If there is no provisioning for external HR input, even if you connect with a Bluetooth HR band, there will not be any communication to it. From what we know, the only Bluetooth devices the S3 talks to are your phone and wireless headphones.

I would also like to pair my Wahoo Tickr X with my Gear S3.
Are there any custom roms in which the developers could add this functionality?
I sold my Gear S3, it is not good for fitness purposes unfortunately, so bad!

Gear s3 as hr monitor for s health

Hi,
I'm using Gear S3 with S7 edge. Once I start workout using the phone S Health app it doesn't show up on the watch. In addition it doesn't use watch HR sensor so it's kind of useless. I would like to track cycling with BT speed/cadence sensor connected with S health (works fine with phone) with HR data from watch.
I've tried to start same activity on the phone and on the watch but the data won't merge eventually.
Is there any way to monitor an activity on the watch once initiated on the phone?

Gear S3 and using a HR strap

Since the builtin HR sensor kinda sucks for real fitness monitoring, I would like to use a HR strap for that. I know it's not possible to pair it directly with the watch, but I was thinking to pair it with the phone using S Health (ANT or BT sensor) and then use the strap provided HR instead of the one from the watch in fitness tracking exercises.
Any idea if that would be possible?
Yes. You can use a strap with S-health and pair it wth your phone.
But since the phone allows only 1 bluetooth device to be connected, the phone will have to be connected with the watch by other means (WIFI/LTE)
You can use hr strap with gear S3 - you need watchface called Sporty Watch
There is an option to connect the watch
