I have a Samsung S8 but the fast charging of it is annoying sometimes. For example, it takes me more than 3 hours to top up the phone while it is placed on the wireless charging pad, not so "fast" in my opinion... Since I'm going to upgrade the phone to Samsung S9, I was just wondering if anyone knows fast charging details about this phone.

But I read that other wireless charging standards are much faster than Samsung fast charging. like Oneplus or Huawei Supercharge.

Coming from the S4, the first thing I noticed right off the bat was the charging time of the S6. The S6 takes MUCH longer to fully charge than the S4. We're talking like 2-3hrs difference. It's ridiculous.

Make sure you FULLY plug in the USB connector to the fast charging wall wart. It will charge slow if not fully seated

Will try it when I come home.
Umm... mine. Charges from 0 to 100 in about an hour on the fast charger.
I get to 60% by 30min

OP you are doing something wrong. The S6 charges fully in about an hour.
Can you describe your charge set up? Are you using the fast charger with both phones or just a regular charger?
I'm assuming you would not be comparing the S4 on a wired charger to the S6 using a wireless charger.

I read that the screen has to be off for the fast charging to work. The first day I used my S6, the battery literally didn't move while I had it plugged in and was playing around with it. Over like 3 hours it didn't gain or lose a percentage.
Now that I can set it down for more than an hour, it will fully charge in that time.
Are you using the appropriate USB cable?
I know my old Samsung cables can't do more than 0.3 amps.

Cocaine is a helluva drug. You're probably not using the fast charge wall plug.
You are using the wrong charger.... Use one with the rated amp/voltage required.
You are either using the wrong charger or on some drug that really slows down time. The S6 goes from 0-100% real quick (1hr 25min).
I'm using an Anker Quick Charge 3.0 charger to charge this device.
Meanwhile thanks to the QI technology I also charge my Galaxy S6 and iPad mini with the same charger.
The funny thing is although A9 have the smallest battery capacity it charge the slowest, like, 1% every minute, which is ridiculous.
I wonder anybody else experienced similar problem?
Oh by the way the battery life is far from satisfactory, I'm a heavy user who look at my phone every 10 minutes, I need to charge it twice a day. To be honest, S6 is a great phone, it's more vivid screen and wireless charge always make me feel a big mistake to switch over, although it doesn't have Android 6.0 . sadly I really need latest Android badly so I cannot stick to it.
Attaching a screenshot of battery history here, just for reference.

Quick charge 3.0 will be available via a software update, right now it only supports quick charge 2.0 out of the box.

I early pre-ordered an A9 in red. It of course won't be here for a while. I too use Qi charging a lot and am now contemplating either an S6 or a Note5 or perhaps an LG G4 modded for internal Qi.

Experiencing same problem. Bought a QC 3.0 adapter, I only got from 6% to 43% in 32 mins. Even at Quickcharge 2.0 speeds, 1.16%/minute seems pretty slow especially when compared to the advertised "0% to 60% charge in 30 minutes." (Lies.....)

How can you tell what mode you're in? How can you tell if you're in Quick Charge? I thought one of the feature in Marshmallow is it will tell you when you're in Quick Charge or normal charge. I saw that in Nexus 5x and 5p but not in the A9. Does anyone know how to turn this feature on?
When you plug the phone into a charger, it turns Power Save off automatically...been doing this since the M9 or earlier.

I really think the problem is first with the usbc 3.1 cable. Be sure to buy one that is fully usbc 3.1 and from a good brand, then charge it. LG V50 has 5Gbps usbc 3.1 port enabled. The most advanced in smartphone market. Then go for 5v 2a if the cable doesn't fix it.
Don't think that caused any trouble. I charge my phones with different charges convenient available at site. It's only whether I get fast charging or not AFAIS. Samsung fast charger doesn't fast charge my LG V50, but other third party brand does. Please kindly enlighten me if this hurt my battery life badly.
Hello everyone, i just bought a new wireless charger form Baseus and charge my s21+ with fast wireless charging on, and while charging i notice that the phone battery get as hot as 40 degree Celsius. SO i try turn off the fast wireless charging option and let the phone cool off to ambient temp (around 32-34 degree) and charge again, but it still reaches 40 degree.
I want to ask is this normal, and please share your temperature while using wireless charging and the brand of charger you use.

Well, phones getting hot while charging is usually normal.
Sometimes it happens when the phone charges for too long and at a higher voltage and amps.

Yeah, fast charging is faster, and wireless charging sometimes in some phones is hitter than cable. Depends on the manufacturer of the phone and the model and the wireless charger itself.

Hmm maybe it would be online, I don't have the particular phone and a thermal imager so i wouldn't know exactly.
Hi guys, hope it's ok I ask a similar question here.
I do to have S21 5G (exynos) and samsung 15w wireless charger with 25w brick.
The issues I'm having is with charging speeds. If I use fast charging, the current is around 2700mA. But as soon as the temperature hits around 35-36 degrees charging current starts oscillating between 300-600-900 mA. It takes around 5 hours to fully charge the phone. It's faster if I turn off fast charging. It takes around 3 hours.
Room temp is around 26 c.
I don't remember having similar issues with S20.

Fast charging increases the wattage of the charge so your phone overheats.
If it overheats too much the phone limites the charge rate to protect the components.
It seems like a flaw in the fast charging or smth like that
keep fast charging off if it overheats your phone, and maybe try keeping it in a cooler environment

Hi all, I've had my pixel 7 pro for just over a week now and love it.
The only frustration is wireless charging. I've got 9w and 10w wireless pads. With both, after an all night change it barely charges 50%. This is with and without a case. Also, the phone does not change in my car at all (BMW built in charging pad).
My s21 ultra would charge is less than 4 hours.
What are you all experiencing? Is my phone faulty?
Thanks!

Encountered similar with wireless no name pad. Would go to 68%, and lot of heat.
Nice to know. Was trying to get at least a 15w pad, but don't know about heat. Is the google wireless stand the only one good for this?
Make sure you are using a Qi EPP charger.

Im still using the wireless charger I bought for my OnePlus 9 Pro. Works perfectly, charges to 100%, and fast charging
Try a USB current device, in-line with the charging pad(s). PortaPow makes a good one, and there are some cheap-ish ones out there, you sort of have to be selective.
f you do, you'll find that some do pull an actual 10(ish)A, while others don't even come close.
The OP charger is a good one, I had a well-ranked 10A charger before, and currently a Pixel Stand. They all charge the phone quickly, IME/IMO. Quickly enough for me anyway, that part is pretty subjective, again IME.
Thanks for the responses all!
So what times are you all seeing with your chargers? and what chargers are you using?
It'd be great to hear from those that use a samsung qi charger (9W trio charge pad).

My P7P will charge fully in about 4 hours, using 10A wireless, the handful of times I've needed it.
I'm more typically charging from 50% or so, seems like, and that takes a couple of hours. I've been using wireless charging for a bit over 10 years though, and it's far handier than plugging in, IMO.
Obviously, if your lifestyle needs are a 35 minute charge from 50%, then wireless isn't going to be so appealing.

Nope, or it's not appreciable anyway. It's charging right now, has been for a bit this AM, and it's a hair warmer than the air around it, if I lift it away and touch it (the case, it's got a decently thick Spigen case on it). I'd guess maybe 10 degrees warmer than ambient (I could rustle up my surface temp tester, from the garage, I suppose... ).
