Unable to use themes after unlocking bootloader and rooting, please help - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I've spent hours trying to get any theme working but have been unable to do so.
Even after going through several forums as well as other sites, I'm yet to get any theme working.
I am aware that after unlocking bootloader and rooting, themes no longer work.
This is one of many guides I tried and after attempting every single solution, themes are not being applied.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/themes-hwinit-apps-help-please-t3639242
Could someone kindly let me know what actually needs to be done to get themes working?
Currently on the latest Oreo 8/EMUI 8. Any help/advice much appreciated!

Bump. Many people have had this issue, surprised there is no response as of now.

[Q] Bootloader unlocked, rooted, clockworkmod installed now what

So far this is the first phone where I've been able to unlock the bootloader. I've rooted several phones with no problem. I do know how to make apps on a beginner level and I'm very eager to do some programming for this phone. I would like to learn how to create and reprogram kernels. Right now I'm stuck. What do I do now. My Photon Q is ready!!!! Bootloader unlocked, rooted, and I have installed the clockworkmod. Can someone help me get started on programming roms, kernels, and etc. I WANT TO FULLY CUSTOMIZE THIS PHONE.
So far all I've been able to do is change the boot animation...lol
I'm also trying to figure out how I can block my carrier so I can tether and stream videos without CSPIRE restrictions.
custom kernel, custom rom etc, start tweaking now
You could try and give Interloper a hand on developing CyanogenMod 10.1 for the Q. I'm sure he'd appreciate any assistance you can give.

They havent been developed yet for this phone. If you want to learn something please go to the Photon Q development forum and find the CM9 or CM10 thread and help interloper or aaargghh with some troubleshooting on those custom roms. PM them or whatever, they are asking for testers. CM is what this phone needs, bad.
Unlocked How?

I am wondering exactly how did you unlock the bootloader? I recently purchased the Photon Q from CSpire but I am unable to unlock it. I went to the Motorola site and went through the entire process only to be told my phone is not eligible to unlock. Spoke with Motorola support and they informed me that only the Sprint Photon Q could be unlocked. I hope you can point me in the right direction. Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give.
Ah yeah, here's the thread about CSpire. Are you sure you didn't make a typo?
hey guys, i found my way to this thread as well, haha. i hope you find a way to unlock, robcross72... keep us posted.

In answer to your question, what I did was after manually typing in that long "code" I finally did a cut and paste of all the numbers. At my sons baseball game so I will attempt again when I get home. Maybe it was my work computer. You know how IT likes to block all sorts of stuff. I will repost my results. Thanks again guys for your help.!
Still can't unlock
Hey guys, I just wanted to post what I have tried so far. I again went and tried getting the unlock key from Motorola. I have cut and pasted the code into Microsoft Word 07, Word 10, and a trial of Word 13, as well as used Note Editor. I have also tried manually typing the code in but still no luck. I tried late last night and again this morning. I read where one guy used a different email to login on the Motorola site and it worked for him. I tried that as well. I still continue to get the message that states "You're device does not qualify to unlock". In another thread yogi2010 pointed out a way that people were rooting without unlocking. I have read through that forum and though it has been successful, from what I have read, I would have to have the bootloader unlocked in order to install custom rom's. I may be wrong but that is what I have learned thus far. Anyway, I said I would post after I re-attempted. I appreciate everyone's help. Maybe the original poster will make his way back here and explain how he unlocked his CSpire Photon Q. I will keep trying.
Well, if you make any typo, then it will say that the phone does not qualify to bootloader unlock.

Well, I have manually typed it in many times. I have had someone else call each digit to me and then had them double check. I have counted the digits in the code to make sure I had the correct amount. I have also copied the code and pasted it in but still I continue to get the message that my device does not qualify to be unlocked. It just seems for whatever reason mine will not be unlocked. However, I cannot thank you guys enough for your advice and assistance.
Update: Success!
Hey all! I just wanted to update y'all on what has happened. I have literally been trying to unlock my phone every single day. I have continued to receive the message that my device is not eligible to be unlocked. Well, today I found myself with a little free time at work. So I again cut and pasted the code into the box on the Motorola website. And again when I clicked on the box "can my device be unlocked" I received the same message. However, since I had some free time, I clicked the button again, and again, and again..... and on the 14th try (honestly I counted) I received the message to get my unlock key. I clicked on "I agree" and within a few minutes I received the email with the unlock key. I have not unlocked yet due to my work computer will not allow me to download the Android SDK. But I will be doing the unlock in a bit when I go to lunch. Now the next step is to search the forums on how to get CM10 on my phone, if I can. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice.

I don't have any direct information available, but instead of searching by device name, search by the current Android version of the device. You may find a generic method that will work. Rooting for some devices can be trial and error until a successful method is found.
Thanks for the input. I will try your idea and see what I can find.
You might try looking here. I hope it helps.

To root you need to make sure you can atleast get CWM on it, if you can't get CWM on it, then rooting is out of the question. Google's auth has somewhat changed in the few months.

What is the best current way to root & unlock VZW S3?

Guys, I have spent hours rooting and unlocking my S3. Reason it has taken so long is either I don't know what I'm doing or there are so many ways to do it, some may be outdated or something. I'll side with the first reason. But, I do have experience in rooting...kept my OG Droid rooted/overclocked/customized. Did the same with my Thunderbolt. Also rooted my S3 a few months ago after the VZW update that crapped out the radio. When they released the fix, I removed root and installed it. Got the urge for some new stuff and here I am...
Here is what I'm doing:
- Using CausalR795b. Seems quick and easy. Definitely provides root, but I'm not sure about unlocking the bootloader. What is the insecure aboot? Says it's ready to install it, but I can't find out what this is?
- Trying to install TWRP recovery. What is the easiest way to do this? The last time I did it with Goomanager, I got the Verizon Unauthorized Software message at boot.
- Trying to install the latest Hyperdrive ROM. Got it installed once and on reboot, got the VZW Unauthorized message again,
- Using ODIN 3.07 to flash a stock ROM after getting the error message.
Can anyone tell me a link with good directions, start to finish? Or, give me some advice? To me, at least, seems like VZW has made customizing the S3 unnecessarily complicated,
Thanks in advance.
Insecure aboot is the unlocked bootloader. Once you install that you will no longer get the VZW Unauthorized message.
First welcome to the community.
second, this is the wrong section.
third, you have to use D2VZW-CASUAL-R634b release to fully unlock bootloader

My bad...I did post in the wrong place. Wasn't even thinking about it. Had just spent so long in this subforum trying to find answers, must have lost my bearing.
I really appreciate your help! The older Causal did everything in one try with no hiccups whatsoever. Why isn't anything posted about this noted in the newer Causal thread? It might be in there somewhere and if I would have seen it, hours would have been saved.
Now rocking the newest Hyperdrive and probably going to try a few more ROM's. Thanks again!

Most effective way to ROOT and flash a Custom ROM with my particular LG G3 Setup

Ok guys,
So I hate to be the one to start this thread but there are sooooo many threads out there stating that this device can only be rooted if rolled back to KitKat from Lollipop and then there are dozens of Lollipop ROM's available and numerous methods for doing this and that.
Here is a screencap of exactly what my phone is running:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nnfjc565fh11a4i/Screenshot_2017-05-25-05-25-40.png?dl=0
I started late in the game here and recently activated a G3 I had in my inventory to be used with Cricket. Now, I was hoping to root and reflash but I see soooo many different ways of doing so depending on your device and I just wanted to be absolutely sure that I am following the correct steps.
Could someone please help me through this process taking into consideration what my device is running?
Thank you in advance!

Make sure that you have Unknown sources checked under security. Then install and run this- https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4FtiSFGCyvHX0NWd181T3Npbzg/view?usp=drivesdk
Its what i used for mine.

Question Removing the "Unlocked Bootloader" warning on boot?

Has anyone tried this? I found a few methods listed for older motorola devices but am hesitant to try anything. The root method detailed by Shaybox (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...u-get-the-boot-img-file.4377609/post-86128217) was FLAWLESS!! And I tend to screw things up so I don't want to mess it up now. Also, my unlock took nearly exactly 3 days, just as others had reported.
Anyway, Thanks to all!
