I've always had the understanding that the NFC antenna was part of the OEM battery and the antenna is discernible when looking at the OEM battery. I've been using an aftermarket powerbear battery for a while now and it does not have the NFC antenna. Yesterday I had forgotten that the aftermarket battery was in there and went to buy a soda at the vending machine where there is a wireless payment option. The NFC payment worked just fine. So, now I am confused as to how it worked without the OEM battery and the NFC antenna. I do have the Samsung back cover with Qi charging so maybe this alternate back cover has the NFC antenna in it as well as the Qi charging loop. The back cover has six electrical connectors that mate to the phone when installed.

SURELY there's a way
I ruined myself by getting this fantastic mount from Infiniapps( http://tw.gs/RbW8aZ ). It has a small magnet you pop in between your phone and case, that clings to the magnetic mount. Best mount I've ever used...EVER.
However, I (very recently) have been toying around with NFC for the first time. I've also got the wireless bug and want to purchase a receiver and pad(s) very soon.
My obvious issue? Trying to make this small magnet work around the NFC-supported wireless receiver(using the trick of peeling off the aluminum front/back of said receiver.)
I know metal screws up NFC functionality....but does a magnet affect NFC at all? And another question- do magnets OR metal surfaces have any impact on Qi wireless charging capability? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before I pull out my wallet.
I haven't been this enthralled with a phone since I purchased the first OG Motorola Droid
Thanks for any suggestions/advice!
It's been done already http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-air-dock
But nfc not yet there.

Gorgeous. I saw something similiar awhile back, but the project fell apart.
Thanks for the link!
Oddly enough, I'm able to get NFC, wireless charging AND the magnetic car mount to work at the same time.
On my S4, I've got fone salesman's slim Qi receiver insert inside the battery cover, and a small magnetic plate between the case and battery door, just below the flash bulb.
Both wireless charging and NFC are working. Pleasantly surprised.

Ahh that's awesome.

Sorry took so long to respond. I don't have any standalone cameras to take photos of my phone/battery case, but I'm using the following:
-fonesalesman's Qi thin wireless receiver insert(with the foil front/back stickers peeled off
-infiniapps magnetic/cradless mount(fits in cd player)
Inside the battery case, I put the Qi receiver in place. I then cut the magnet plate in half(that comes with the magnetic mount). and Placed it JUST below the flash(and overtop the Qi receiver). The back battery case closes just fine.
I'm able to read NFC tags easily(the battery can read through the Qi receiver, and there are two NFC contact points on the actual Qi receiver that read NFC, as well), and the Qi receiver picks up wireless charging base EASILY. The half of the magnetic plate is plenty enough to stay on the cradle base perfectly. No drops.

What are you using for the qi wireless transmitter/charger in the car? The infiniapps dock doesn't have one built in.

I'm charging wireless in the car. In my opinion, there's NOTHING that can keep your phone from tanking on battery when you're running bluetooth, GPS and have brightness up(daytime). Always run wired in the car. Go on Amazon and get the "motorola fast charge" charger. Fastest car charger I've ever used.
NFC added
You are correct as of this post it did not support NFC. They have since come out with The Air Dock 2.0 that has NFC builtin. Sorry I am not able to post a link but if you go to theairdock.com it is available.
I've got one of those cheap Chinese inlay antennas (plugs into dedicated S4 pins, fits over standard battery under standard back cover, bulges the back cover ever so slightly).
I've been using it for a year or so, it works fine overall, but it seems phone doesn't last as long with this wireless receiver / antenna installed.
I've tested it, trying to keep same usage:
with antenna: 16 hours from battery full to empty
without antenna: 40 hours
That would imply that either antenna drains batter at ~100mA rate when not charging, or that when phone is charged (via wireless), battery is not charged as well as phone thinks it is.
Did anyone have any similar experiences?
Does the receiver support nfc? Not sure if disabling nfc would make a difference.
I have an s4 with a similar qi receiver without nfc support and battery drain has not changed for my phone.
I'm not finding clear info on if the V10 is ready to go or needs something added to enable a wireless charging on a wireless charging stand.
I've seen you you can add some kind of antenna to the back cover; when I remove the back cover on mine, there is already one there; but not sure if it is for wireless charging.
Can anyone fill me in?
That's for NFC, Qi wireless charging requires an new replacement back accessory. Just google Qi Wireless, and the NFC/Qi charging requires two Pairs of PIN connectors on the LEFT and RIGHT side of the back cover. By default its only on the RIGHT hand side, which is for NFC only
I bought a wireless charging "sticker" to retrofit my v10 for wireless charging. Installation was a little finicky but totally doable. You remove the existing nfc sticker inside the back cover and replace with one that does nfc and wireless charging. Then it will change with any qi charger.
I tried using it for awhile, but I kind of hate it. You have to line it up perfectly and even then it's incredibly slow. Misalign and it gets hot but slowly discharges the battery. I never use it.

I had the same experience. I tried it but it is slow and the phone gets hot. I never use it anymore.
I have a Qi replacement back, and it was awesome. But after a year it keeps turning off and my Tylt charger will blink red, wake the phone up, start charging. It'll get to 100% over night, but I don't like it.
I am currently using: LG Wireless Charging Backcase CPR-120 für V10 schwarz, CPR-120.AGEUBK (from amazon.de) together with Samsung EP-PA510BWEGWW Wireless Charging Plate Mini - White and this is working fine. I did try a cheap backcase from e-bay but that one started falling apart (first some cracks and then pieces around crack fell off) so not bothered to try any others.
Hey everyone,
I'm using the TQTHL extended battery which gives me 24 hours of juice for my Note Edge N915-T
Unfortunately, it doesn't come with an NFC receiver (Present on original battery), so I can't use Tap & Pay.
I was able to get an NFC antenna for the back door, but the chip is still needed for NFC to operate.
Does anyone know if we can buy the NFC receiver separately somewhere?
Search in ebay
Hi friend, there is no NFC-chip on battery pack, it's only NFC antena.
After doing a battery replacement, my NFC has stopped working. Since the battery was swollen to the point of bulging the back, I assume something got damaged during the replacement.
I have found a replacement part for the NFC antenna, but can't find where it would go. The only information I've been able to find is that it's under the fingerprint sensor. That wasn't touched during the repair.
Does anyone have more detailed knowledge of the NFC antenna?
The nfc antenna is actually placed above the battery. So it could be that someone who replaced the battery didn't plug it in
How do you not touch the fingerprint sensor while replacing the battery? The NFC wireless part gets screwed on over the battery after swapping it.
It's not on the fingerprint sensor. It's coupled with the battery and maybe the wireless charging coil if it has one

Thanks for the info. Where would it be coupled on the battery? I see the contacts for the wireless charging coil (which works just fine) but nothing specific for an NFC antenna. So I'm wondering if it was disposed of with the failed battery.
