Overscan issues and how to solve them - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I ran
Code:
adb shell wm overscan 0,80,0,0
But in some apps like whatsapp or my launcher it creates an additional border that I don't want. Is there anything I can do against it? In the attaches screenshot it's black.

Additionally, is there any way to change the color of the overscan? I would like it to be black all the time, not have the color of my notification bar.
Last but not least, swiping down for my notifications stopped working. Any fix for that? I'm also ok with using other ways to achieve what I want.

App Problem on Tilt

Some of the apps I use don't show everything in the menus like they should. It just shows the check boxes but no text next to them. I've been having this problem for a while even though I've done multiple hard resets.
This is PockeTwit but it does it in other programs too. What's going on and how can I fix it?

Do you have some type of custom colors program installed. Your text color may be set to black which may not show up on a black background?
Only thing I can think of is Wisbar Advanced 3.
I closed Wisbar and it worked lol. Thx

the arrows on the panel I'm focused on appears a few panels higher. I could fix it by going to today settings and closing/opening titanium but the problem appears again in a few minutes.
Does anyone know a fix for this? it doesnt really affect usability but it's a little annoying.
more examples:
it even appears on panels that don't scroll left or right! (sometimes)

Want to change look

This is what I want to do with my HD2 when it arrives tomorrow.
Is it easy enough to do?
I assume if I download a transparent slider.cab then it will be totally transparent? Its not like with the iPhone where I could go into the theme and increase/reduce transparency of each individual component? What about the grey bit around the selected icon in the slider? Would that be part of the transparent slider.cab? Or is that something totally different?
I cant open up a .cab file on my PC and adjust things there can I?

Notification bar won't go away (can't be hidden)

Complete noob here using M8 w/ theme from mycolorscreen.com. The phone's notification bar will not go away. You can swipe down to expand it, but when I swipe up on the phone, it still shows at the top of the screen. Within Themer, I have checked for it to auto hide but it is not working. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it an issue with Themer (happens on several different themes) or with my M8? Again, appreciate any help that can be provided.

Trying to figure out privacy settings (pic)

Hi.
Noob here.
Running RR rom and loving it.
Went to Privacy settings and found out there's an option to limit apps.
For example (see screenshot below).
My question is: should I even be touching this?
Thanks!

You can mess with it a bit in order to stop apps from running in the background, just don't touch system apps/services or you could really screw things up.
