question about Odin and FRP - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My roommate got a Galaxy S6 earlier off of Craigslist but the person who sold it to him doesn't know the Samsung Account password,so unable to factory reset. Would downgrading the firmware via Odin trip the FRP and still ask for a password?

Just go into recovery mode {press 3 keys} and do factory reset from there.

Usually when you do that,FRP trips and it won't let you use the phone until you put in the password

We know the Google account password that's on the phone right now (his). So if I factory reset it via recovery ,wouldn't it ask for his Google account password? Double checking before I do anything.

Galaxy s6 sm-g920v, reactivation lock: on, 5.1.1 (OG5) bootloop /reboots

Quick story: bought used phone on craigslist with good esn, brought it home, (DID NOT do my research about samsung account lock beforehand)...did a factory reset, previous owner does not have samsung account information to give me., and won't take back the phone. I've been messing with it for 2 days and about ready to sell it on ebay or buy a used motherboard....
After the initial factory reset it booted to setup normally, after a few failed attempts at the samsung account lock username and password, it rebooted. Now the phone is stuck in a boot loop, it reboots after about 30 seconds, after just enough time to select a language in setup
I can get to download mode but it shows "reactivation lock: on" First tried clear cache partition, and a few times factory reset.
This was as a result of just a factory reset not flashing any firmware or anything.
This is phone model g920v (VZW) running 5.1.1 OG5
LMY47X.G20VVRU3OG5
I can boot to download mode and android system recovery just fine, and the phone will not reboot, but no matter how many times I have tried factory reset, reboot, wipe cache partition, etc, no change, still reboots after 30 seconds of setup.
I tried flashing G920VVRU3BOG5_G920VVZW3BOG5_G920VVRU3BOG5_HOME.tar.md5 with odin 3.10 (not successful with odin 3.09), odin 3.10 was successful, but no change, still stuck in boot loop. checked md5, tried again with same file downloaded from a different source...
Also tried messing around in sidesync, VZW software upgrade assistant, and even kies with no real luck. I am not concerned with root, but hesitant to flash anything other than the OG5 version that is on there now. Just want to get to the point where I can try some of the "samsung account bypass" tricks I have read about like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/help/bypass-samsung-reactivation-lock-t3250282
Any details I left out? PLEASE ASK, I will happily clarify. I have searched the forum extensively and consulted google.
ANY INPUT VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED as to what steps I should try next. Thank you
Have you reached out to Samsung? Better yet can't the seller just remove the reactivation lock from his account? That should be the first thing the seller should have done prior to selling it. If he doesn't know his Samsung login info HE need to call them...very irresponsible on his part.
Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
The seller would need to figure out what his Samsung account is. otherwise it's basically a brick.
I appreciate the responses, however, I am not willing to give up yet. I believe if I can get past the reboot/boot loop issue, I can bypass the samsung account lock, as other people have confirmed on the g920v, in the link I posted above.
the seller told me that it was a phone he bought used, and it had the previous owner's samsung account info attached. The seller will not help me, and I do not have the email address or any way to contact the owner before him. Being craigslist, I do not have any leverage for a return to the seller, etc.
I have not tried contacting samsung.
I am planning to try to flash OG9 version next using odin. Then I will try to flash the newest version, OK7
After that I will try to update with kies. If that doesn't work I will try to take it to best buy samsung experience center and see if they can flash anything...
Are there any bootloaders/ custom recovery that I should consider looking into, anything that I may have missed? for 5.1.1? twrp?
Again, thanks for your help, any advice or links to relevant posts or info would be VERY greatly appreciated. Thank you!
From my understanding (while limited) no amount of flashing will remove the Reactivation lock. It's designed to be just that, a lock, that prevents someone who stole the phone from using it.
KIES does not work on the S6, you have to use SmartSwitch instead.
Samsung can't do anything for you.

Bypass FRP on G935F

Hi all!
My Dad's S7 got stolen a month ago and he got it back this week from the Police because they found it in a used electronics shop. We tried to factory reset but it asks for an unknown Google Accounts credentials. They prolly wiped all data and did their "thing" to sell it.
Is there any way to bypass Google's Factory Reset Protection? Maybe installing a new firmware/ ROM?
Flash to marshmallow, use an FRP bypass exploit.

Samsung Galaxy J3 SM-J327vl cant login

My nephew has that ^^^^ phone (luna pro) through straight talk. One of his idiot friends decided to do a factory reset on it while it had a passcode. So now it cant go pass the wifi screen on setup. it says "unable to sign in to wifi AP. An unauthorized factory reset....The sign in screen cannot be accessed". I tried Odin'ing the firmware and although it passed, it's the same issue. Is there a way to get through this so he has a phone or is it useless? thanks in advance

Costum binary blocked by FRP lock

Hi All
I have an S7 Exynos with latest Magisk installed and everything has been working flawlessly till I decided this early morning, for not any particular reason(except my increasing amount of grey hair ), to lock the "developer options". I think I have done the same maybe a couple of years ago though cannot remember how I had solved it.
Obviously my phone was instantly locked.
Would someone be able to link a good working solution with being able to keep data and apps? I am a bit desperate as my work is starting again tomorrow.
Thanks a lot.
look at frp bypass
Costum binary blocked by FRP lock is a protection, whene you do a factory reset from recovery. the only way you get this message is with odin.
this one works for me on s7, s7 edge and s6 tab
Thanks @Dagobert
I will have a look at it now and see if it is not too scary. See my S7 FRP

Do you have acces to the phone?

If you have acces to the phone then backup your data do a factory reset. Then you can flash whatever you want. Frp lock is a google protection with a google account. Whene you do a factory reset from settings you wipe the frp.
What is Google FRP?

I have access to the phone via PC/Odin only. No booting as per image above. I wand to keep Data and Apps
I assume I have to flash stock with home csc to be able to enter the phone again? Then root again, if I so wish?
Yup. Maybee a long shot but try Flashing your former firmware with Odin, using HOME_CSC. I think thats the solution
More info on that in this topic
Help! How to flash without losing data?
Good day! My phone got stuck on breathing Samsung logo after my phone updates. Now the only option I have in mind is to restore factory data. But I have some important files in my phone that is very essential in my work. I know I have read that...
forum.xda-developers.com
hmm., done the flashing with the files plus home csc and it asks for password, which I have entered without success. I know the password and it justs does not accept it.
See the factory reset warning and the FRP lock still being on now.
I'm desperately trying to avoid wipping data and apps.
edit: unfortunately I had to format/reinstall as I could not find a workable option.

I flashed my Samsung Galaxy A01a sm-s111dl with Odin3. After a successful flash it rebooted but still my frp was locked.
Is it possible to bypass a frp lock using a sdcard with maybe some downloaded files to boot from on a Galaxy A01 with Android 11?
