I have a new problem with the gmail labels since Oreo. I'm using a Galaxy S8. I am now getting huge numbers in the unread label. These numbers are around for 500. I've used the is: unread feature in Gmail to make everything read but I keep getting wrong High unread numbers. Any ideas?

Hey all.
Iv recently subcribed to facebook sms alerts and its working great.
However the messages i get sent are from slightly different numbers
eg. 32230004 or 32230010, the 3223 is the facebook address but the 0010 is the message number.
This is screwing up my threaded messages as its threading each individual message instead of grouping them.
Is there anyway i can thread a range of numbers so all the facebook messages get grouped eg 3223**** or 32230000-32239999
Thanks in advance
ive seen tons of SMS notifier apps but is there anyone out there who knows how to get something like that for google voice?
Use SMS Unread Count.
I set it up on my phone, by forwarding my GV message to gmail, with a filter to label and skip the inbox so I don't get double notifications (one for gmail and one for the vm)
Here's the set up:

It seems Google makes it easy from within the app itself:

I believe that is just in the notification bar.
I inferred from the OP's question that he was looking for something similar to the SMS notifiers that show the number badge on the icon.
I could be wrong.
Hi All,
Using the standard HTC mail app and have 2 email accounts setup - both google apps accounts using IMAP.
On my home screen I have 2 shortcuts, one for each mailbox - on previous phones (desire, hero) these shortcuts used to show a "badge" with the number of unread emails in the mailbox. I don't get this on my Sensation no matter how many unread emails there are in the mailboxes.
I can't find an option to enable this anywhere, so has it been taken out, or is it just not working?
Before I go down the route of a factory reset, could you let me know if you get unread mail badges on your mailbox shortcuts...
Thanks
I only have the general Mail icon, not a shortcut to an individual Inbox since I'm using only one Emailaddress on my mobile. That Icon shows the number of unread messages. Not sure if that's what you'd want, it would probably show you the sum of unread messages form both accounts.
Ideally I'd like the individual count like previous phones. Just noticed I don't get an unread count on sms either (htc sms and go sms). Thinking it might be a problem with sense...

THAT sounds bad. I definitely get SMS count on the default icon... I'd try a reset if I were you.
Did a factory reset, still the same. Weird.
I guess I can live with it for now - makes it look like I have no work to do
Weirdly they started working today... I now get the unread counters and didn't change anything.
Under settings - accounts and sync, u can configure the syncing of specific gmail email app.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I use the GMail app and the icon doesn't show a thing for me. I have a widget for the lockscreen that has email counts and that's accurate so its odd that the pre-loaded gmail app won't be displaying unread counts
Im not sure if this has been asked and answered... My search of the nexus s forum didnt turn up much...
In google voice (where i've been receiving all of my voice and text messages) the same contact has multiple threads. It seems like each days text messages go into a new thread by default or something. Bottom line, to look at a previous day's messages i have to back out of the current days message thead and scroll down (through other contact's duplicated threads) and open the same contacts messages from a previous day.
In the default android messaging app all texts to a single contact are grouped together. google voice on the other hand makes going back through texts a pain. is there any way to make google voice text groupings behave like the stock android app?
sorry to reply to my own question.... >100 views, anyone have any ideas? is anyone with sprint even experiencing the same issue?
Yes, I am experiencing the same issue on my Nexus S on Sprint.

That's how they are grouped at voice.google.com too so I don't believe it's an app or a Sprint issue.
EDIT: Seems like it was designed that way, the reasons for which aren't clear:

I noticed the same thing. It gets kind of annoying but I just archive the old ones in case I need to go back for something. Would be nice to have one per person but perhaps it's to limit size?
Any resolution to this? I have gvoice on my HTC vision and it still seems to be creating multiple threads for the same contact (not 100% of the time, but often)
I'm having a couple problems with the email program. First of all the counter (in the folder selection box) that shows how many unread messages I have shows -1 (minus one) instead of 0 when I have no unread messages. It's no big deal but it's a bit annoying. The second problem is that when I get a new message notification and I go check my emails there are no new messages but one or two old messages will briefly appear in the message list for a few seconds then vanish. It gets annoying because it happens each time the program checks my MSN account for new messages. The fix so far is to go into my MSN account via Chrome and delete the offending messages.
Any ideas?

Sorry for the lack of info, thanks for asking...
Stock S3, stock email, POP3 msn.com
Not sure if it's related but counter problem started after installing NOVA launcher. Notification problem started a month after NOVA.
