I know practically nothing about code.
Will this boot img work on the regular XA2? I'm looking for a boot.img file to patch in order to gain root access on my 5.2" XA2. The devices are practically the same, the only differences in hardware are a slightly bigger battery, bigger screen, extra GB of RAM, and an extra camera/flash on the front. but other than that, and the model number being different, they are basically the same device.
Thanks for the hard work!

No, XA2 Ultra's boot.img won't work on regular XA2. Furthermore the boot.img you can extract from this ROM is specifically compiled for AOSP rom, so I doubt that it will work with Sony's stock rom.
Noob question:
What are the advantages of a pure AOSP vs sony's AOSP base ROM? (besides 8.1 vs 8.0 obviously)
My understanding is Sony's ROMs are much more based on AOSP than say...Samsung TouchWiz.
Sorry for my noobishness. This is my first Sony device.

Seems to be better than official cm11 from 20140321. Stable enough. Have not found any problems yet. Phone, wifi, mobile data, bluetooth, camera, wifi hotspot working. Miracast is working but not excellent. Battery consumption is similar to stock. cm11 camera has much less functions than stock. 8Mpix only, I think.

If you have root and a recovery installed on the xperia z2 tablet, then you have your bootloader unlocked already.
Root just gives you higher privileges in the running state. To install lets say Clockworkmod recovery, you need write access to the boot partition, which comes only with an unlocked bootloader.
I´m not sure, but my LTE Tablet have Dual Recovery installed and rooted as well.. But still locked Bootloader. I need to unlock them to be able install any custom ROM.
For now i´m on Sony Stock ROM.

I stand corrected, your tablet can have a locked bootloader with XZDualRecovery and root. Sorry for that...
You can install a custom ROM however make sure you create a backup of /system/bin/chargemon in a location you know it keep secure, then just flash the locked dual recovery beta zip.
I had xzdualrecovery on my xperia z2 tablet with a locked bootloader but it would not stick when I tried backing up or flashing a custom ROM. I went ahead and unlocked the bootloader and installed a CWM recovery in order to avoid loosing a recovery because of bootloader errors/bugs.

Please note that this kernel is untested by me. So, it is up to you if you want to flash this kernel. I will not be responsible for the bricking of any devices.
This kernel is for cm12/cm based roms' users. Please do not try this kernel on stock rom. Also make sure that you have a xt1225/xt1250 model number. This kernel CANNOT be flashed onto a xt1254(droid turbo)
ZigZag kernel aims to be a more performance and battery saving kernel. I will keep the features as less as I can, as I don't want useless stuff in the kernel. If you want a more customizable kernel, then ZigZag is not for you.
Features:
Insecure
Enabled KSM(Kernel Samepage Merging)
Compiled with SaberMod 4.9.3 toolchain
Patched to kernel version 3.10.73
Enabled -O3 optimizations
Enabled many flags for more performance
Rule: Never ask for OTA's in this thread! It simply annoys me.
Downloads:
Only img files available for now. You can flash these img's through an app named Flashify. There are also files named modules_<release no.>.zip files. You will have to download the specific release file you are using, extract it and move all the .ko files over to /system/lib/modules, then reboot. Do this after installing the kernel. This is necessary for many things like WiFi to work.

The lollipop kernel source code hasn't been released by motorola. Maybe soon, they will release it after pushing ota's for all Moto Maxx versions to lollipop.

The OP says: ZigZag Kernel, Kernel for the Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo
But that cant be correct obviously... has to be for the Maxx only since Turbo doesnt have BL Unlock yet and cant do any custom kernals as a result.

That's because this is the collective forum for all Motorola droid turbo/maxx phones. So the devDB, doesn't have the option to change it for the moto maxx.
Never mind, I changed it manually.

Hi guys,
I'm gonna drop the 4.4.4 version of this kernel as everyone I see is on lollipop. So, when lollipop kernel source code is released, then I'll make the lollipop version.
For now, I'll continue by making the cm12 version.

The CM12 version is now available to download! Made a few changes.
R1(Revised):
- Patched to kernel version 3.10.43
About the file size. The kernel zips now are bigger(almost 34-36mb). This is because of the WiFi module of CM kernel. I don't know, but the size of the WiFi module is enormously big. Nonetheless, this won't affect performance.
Enjoy!!

@matheus_sc, I have uploaded simply the boot.img(you will find it as boot_R1.img). Flash it through fastboot using this command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_R1.img
Please let me know, if it works.
Edit: Found out that the update-binary error occured because it's a very old version of TWRP. Someone has to make the updated version.

They have clearly mentioned the state of the rom... It's in alpha state and bugs are as same as CM.... So for now there's no point flashing it and wait until it's in some proper shape... Too bad they didn't even mention whether Non LTE users can flash it or not... I'm just a bit lightened up that someone is taking up the job :good: Let's wait for it for a little while more and expect something from sony or the xda devs....
not working
how to install?

Your last step is wrong.... There's nothing to enjoy in it lol.... It has to be more stable to be enjoyed...

Correct .... We hope for new rom working
Guys just give a proper Bug report and tell the people for which version it is. It isn't that hard.
I can install and test the rom Sunday, I am on vacation and do not have a suitable PC to install and report any bugs. I suppose that the camera and the data are not working so it's not a rom for daily use.
I received confirmation that the camera does not work because they are not being pushed drivers in Rom AOSP/CM
what ?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
All of the LineageOS source code is available on their github.
What's working
Mostly everything.
Installation instructions
Get ROM, GApps, Addons (optional) and put it in phone. (Temporary) Get the touchscreen fix too.
Boot to recovery mode, use TWRP 3.0.2 only as TWRP 3.0.0 reportedly has issues with flashing it.
Do a factory reset. If you are coming from some previous version of LineageOS itself then this step is optional.
Flash ROM, then flash GApps, and then flash the addons if any.
(Temporary) Flash the touchscreen fix.
Reboot. First boot will take time.

F.A.Q
I get some errors during flashing, is it ok?
A. Yes, as long as you are using TWRP 3.0.2.
I get random errors like FCs etc related to Google Apps, what should I do?
A. I would recommend you to cleanly install the ROM and flash GApps just after that.
Ok, this time I see FCs but thats in other apps, what should I do?
A. As I said, CM is young, it will evolve eventually, fixing the bugs you get eventually.
But I get errors again, and I think this maybe a device related error, help?
A. Report with a logcat or atleast mention a sure shot way of reproducing it.
I want root, what should I do?
A. Enable root access from developer options.

CM theme engine isn't merged yet.
Nougat saw some changes in UI elements like system ui and other stuff, which is why theme engine needs to be updated, which will be done eventually.
Excellent news! Thank you for working on this rom! Will try it soon, when a have a little bit of time available...
Awesome!! Hope you can update zapdos too

No,
Get the latest TWRP from twrp.me and flash it in FOTAKernel partition. Recovery Installer app does have support to flash custom recoveries .
Flashing was tested on 3.0.0 initially and for some reason it did not work, it worked with 3.0.2 which is why its recommended in first place.

Still, I have a problem: when I try to download the img, the download link only downloads the 6,68kb download page as HTML (with the correct filename though)
