Perhaps I have not searched enough to find a thread about this topic, but is there a way to simply turn off the permanent Advanced Messaging Service notification (and not disable VoLTE)? I looked at a thread on the internet that suggested to force stop the app, but naturally, it restarts when it is used by a service on your phone. This notification is extremely annoying and never goes away. Although this app is visible in the list of apps (and/or notifications), the only option is force stop for the app itself, and for notifications, the options are grayed out so I can't turn them off.

I appreciate your reply but I paid and downloaded that app and it's only for rooted devices. Is this the only way to get rid of the notification?

None of my notifications do the normal heads up display on this phone even for the apps that have all options turned on under notifications. The icon just shows in the top bar. How do I fix
You have to enable Banner for the notifications on which you want heads up like notifications. To do this follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Notification panel & status bar
Open Notification centre/manager
Select your app from the list.
Enable Banners for the app you selected.
ENJOY!!
I hope this helps you.
It is like previous Huawei devices with notifications working only for a few selected apps (FB,Twitter,Whatsapp) or they finally fixed the problem and now everyone gets up even without the app being in the background?

add those apps in the protected apps section under battery manager in settings
Then is confirmed how is like other older huawei devices and the app don't get a notification if isn't open in the background even with all permission given?
Notifications are working perfect in every Huawei. Just set them right.
Did you tried protecting the apps?
I've done every step to make apps notifications work, they only work if opened in the background all the time, for some motive apps like twitter or facebook are in a white list who make them enabled to get notifications even when closed but games or unknown apps aren't in it.
I never got a notification from a minor app when it was closed, in 2 years I sue my Honor 8.
Now I discovered is because Huawei put some bull**** battery managment program in the phone who totally kills everything but their apps and some of the most famous and never fixed it.
I was hoping for the most recent devices to have a fix, Emui 5 or something but seems like they haven't changed their policy.
Go in Settings/app/advanced/ignore battery optimisation and add your apps.
Come on guys.
I wrote that I've done every step, notifications simply don't work.

Try manually updating your device by following below steps, your data will get lost so take a backup before.
Download latest firmware of your device.
Extract zip file and put the UPDATE.APP in the root of your external sdcard.
Press all the three hardware keys (Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button) simultaneously.
The update process will start.
You'll have your device like out of the box.
I hope this helps you.

My device (Honor 6) is updated to the latest version, I already done a clean restore, nothing changed, only popular apps get notifications, games, minor apps or not from the play store never get notifications. Every setting for getting them is on.

I think Honor is doing some tweaks to clean the background apps so that more RAM stays free, and the battery life gets longer.
If you were on Honor 7 I would have suggested DigiKernel v1.1 as I didn't have any issues of notification after flashing it.
I haven't touched the OS, no root, flash or mods, is clean...and doesn't work, I've heard of how Emui 5 should fix this bug but my device is out the list of the receivers.

I just signed up to say thank you for the solution. :victory:
This option is never mentioned on forums when people asking for solution to notification errors.
"Protecting apps" and " Notification centre/manager" did not help, when the appliction is not checked on the list you say.

You're welcome.
I know it's never mentioned on forums, it always surprises me.
I think that the notifications that don't appear when screen off is caused by the restricted background data that lenovo has pre-checked. Just untick the option shown in the picture to allow background data for the application you want. Tell me if this will work for you

Also turn off battery optimization for this app.
Settings->power management->battery optimization and then choose all apps instead of not optimized, find the app you want and disable battery optimization

I have done this also :crying:. Upon re-opening Messenger while on data, it shows 'Waiting for Network' then 'Connected' and all the notifications come through. Ive also tried disabling Doze to no avail. Notifications work fine when on Wifi so not sure what the problem is, looks like a software design problem made by Lenovo. I might try Lineage in the future.
I find that when I return home and phone gets WiFi while pulling in drive I suddenly get Gmail notifications so seems mine is same.
The only way to fix notifications I've found that actually works is to disable doze via adb shell.
Sadly this fix needs to be reapplied every time you restart the phone making it a bandaid for a gunshot wound.
It feels like the OnePlus 3 all over again...
Install this app...
This app should work very well...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.geroo.disabledoze
Try this.

For a few week I've not been receiving push notifications for Messenger and a couple of other apps, I've tried clearing cache, reinstalling, upgraded to beta firmware, factory reset to normal firmware, checked every power saving and notification settings I can find and I'm getting no where. I have avast and malwarebytes installed but have tried 24 hours without them.
I've noticed if I wake the phone and see the icon in the edge panel or from the app tray the app seems to wake and sometimes pushes through notifications. Very frustrating!
Anyone got any ideas?

Check the notification setting inside the apps
& check which apps can read and control your notifications in Notifications Access Setting
:good:
I have the exact same problem and none of these settings helped me. Do you think that it is an app-related problem?

In order to get app notifications , you must give app permissions to auto start. Otherwise you only will get notifications when app running .

I found that in notifications access setting, 'notification' was disabled, I've allowed this and will see how I get on tomorrow.
Today I had 50 outlook email notifications come through all at once... Phone blew up like Beyonce!
It's crazy this is happening, really puts me off the S8 plus.
Thanks for the help

Where can I find the auto start settings? Google is not fruitful on this one
Cheers!
Still not getting notifications for messenger. Does anyone know where the setting to allow messenger to auto start is.
I'm convinced it's some sort of aggressive power management feature.

I found the area where permissions are granted. Settings>Apps> {Appname}> scroll down to "Permissions" > tap the three dots at top right corner> tap "All permissions". This gets me to an area where it shows all of the available permissions to assign the this app. I do not see an "autostart" or anything similar.
OK, ever since the switch from Nougat to Oreo update I've lost all notifications from GMail. I've already done some research and tried some of the advised steps but am still at a loss. This is not phone specific as I actually to get a new phone since Oreo. Thoughts, suggestions?

Try settings

select the app you want
(gmail )
scroll down to app settings
Notifications
if it shows blocked
then select and toggle switch to on
this will allow you to customise notifications for this app.
Hope this helps.

Already checked that. Thanks, though
I bought my Nex in China, and I already turned on the settings like autostart in iManager and settings like the emergency priority in Manage Status and Notification. However, a lot of times notifications for apps like Gmail still don't show up on time; they are delayed for anywhere between an hour to hours. Anyone know the solution? Really like the phone but am thinking about going back to OnePlus 5T stock android because of this (one time I even missed Google Voice incoming call, had to go into the app and refresh to know I got a call). Thanks!

maybe you need to whitelist your 3rd party apps for speedup. start first the app you want to whitelist, swipe from the left bottom up to get in the control center, there you see your apps. swipe the app down and you will see a lock, click on that and you whitelist your app for speedup. i include some pics. hope that help you solve your problem, the software is very terrible on this phone but i love it too much i can´t sell it.
