Has anyone tried any 3rd party launchers with the Note Edge?
Which one works best?
Any suggestions?
I use Nova Pro, mainly for the fact of setting my own app grid size. It is like using Touchwiz if it were perfect and allowed endless options.

None of the 3rd party launchers support proper use of the Edge panel yet. I've been in discussion with Nova Launcher's development team and they claim to be working on it. For the time being, unfortunately, the Touchwiz launcher is the only option for full Edge panel support.
I like the Apex launcher and don't have any issues except in landscape mode where my notifications bar is a bit awkward to access

At least it does landscape. Hey Samsung, is it really that hard to do? Touchwiz should support it natively.

Yeah Samsung.. Even Apple can do it with their iPhone Bend 6+.. The Landscape mode on that is pretty cool.. Should be the same on the Note
I'm using Next Launcher 3D, and with that beast its butter smooth...
I'm waiting for Nova with edge screen support. Waiting eagerly.
Blur launcher here
I am thinking of getting an Edge too but i worry that NO devs will support the edge screen, which albeit gimmicky to some, is the main reason I want this phone.
I currently use Next Launcher on my Galaxy and I LOVE it's features and look (i previously have already used Nova and several other launchers).
Does Next Launcher properly place the app launcher dock bar on the Edge screen?? What does the edge screen do or look like when using any of the launchers listed in this thread? Is it just the regular touchwiz Edge alongside the new launcher? Does using themes and different color schemes in a 3rd party launcher also change the theme and color and icon look in the Edge bar?
Just got into my Verizon variant yesterday. I installed Nova on the store demo just to make sure it worked. I put Nova on mine almost immediately. I actually like how the edge panel is tucked away until you swipe it. I'm planning on setting a gesture to open the app drawer and hide the dock, using the edge panel instead.

No, haven't tried that one. I've used ADW and another dead one from back in the day who's name I can't remember. I like the devs at Teslacoil and the feature set is pretty extensive.
It would do what you want; I'd check it out...
Iam using nova pro

You mean like this? Enable homescreen (tw) rotation. Many ways. In rooted so i cant suggest anything for unroots phones
I use the Flow Home launcher with all of my Android phones. It's quite different.
Check aviate launcher
Hey quangtran1 do you have an invite code for flow launcher?

Using Flow Home as well. Best launcher for me hands down
I'm using the Google Now launcher on my S7, and it along with a Marshmallow theme from the Samsung theme store has given the phone a nice stock Android look. Unfortunately, the icon pack included along with the Marshmallow theme hasn't applied on GNL. I know GNL doesn't natively support icon packs but has anyone figured out a workaround for this? The TouchWiz icons stand out otherwise. And when I say icon packs, I mean in the app drawer too, not just modded shortcuts on the home screen.
In case you have root you can use Xposed and the XGEL module to use a different icon pack:

Otherwise (i.e. without root) I would recommend a launcher like Nova.
I'm not rooted.

Use Nova Launcher. You can set it up to look exactly like GEL, but it's more functional and performs better. You can use Google Opinion Rewards to build up a couple of £/$ to cover the cost of "Prime" but it's not necessary.
Fyi for anyone googling this or looking for this still. I had my s7 edge display scaling set to condensed to fit more on the screen. Once I changed it back to standard (with the material Samsung theme applied) and rebooted the correct icons appeared. Could be that the change forces the launcher to recreate icons or clear it's cache etc.
Also, stock android lovers, install good lock from the galaxy app stores to bring the stock android notification shade and status bar into your s7. Got a very stock feel now with Samsung material theme, Google now launcher and good lock.
Hope this helps someone.
So switch your display scaling after setting your theme should flush the icons ??
Hi all,
Can't seem to get the 'app shortcut' feature (long press on icon for shortcuts) of Android N working in my app launcher even though my device is upgraded to the latest Android.
Anyone worked out why this is?
Thanks.
Feature was introduced in 7.1
As far as I know we only received 7.0
Ah that explains that then. Thank you!
You can install Nova launcher and have this feature.
This launcher imitates the pixel launcher with all the features + double tap to screen off
Cheers, will check it out
Hi. I have for the first time installed a custom ROM on my xt1033 and it is the Lineage OS 14.1 official 04/07/17 nightly. I was on stock 5.1 before this. Everything is working fine and I haven't observed any major issue yet. But, I am facing an odd but very specific issue:
I use paid version of Poweramp and used to having the 4x2/4x3 widget on a separate screen. I also was using nova launcher paid version in 5x5 grid mode when I was on stock. I used to easily resize the 4x2/4x3 widget to 5x2/5x3 by tap, hold and drag using the white outlines to cover the full screen width and to make it look uniform.
I was happy to see trebuchet launcher having most of the nova features I needed and wanted to keep my phone as light as possible without having the need to install nova but I am not able to resize the same widget in trebuchet. Tap and hold doesn't give any option to resize this widget. However, that is not the case with all widgets. Nova launcher is still able to do this on lineage. Attached the two screenshots.
Any way to fix this? Seems likely an issue with trebuchet launcher?
Hi all,
i'm trying to modify the the touchwiz launcher as since few updates Samsung introduced a very annoying "feature" which is a huge gap between the status bar and the 1st icons row ( check this thread for pics: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/free-space-home-screen-update-t3650504)
Now my questions is, as i'd like to used the latest s7 official stock firmware, how can i mod the stock launcher to reduce the 1st row gap from the top of the screen? i have no idea where to start! any suggestion?
thanks in advance!
Hello,
The Touchwizz launcher doesn't have many options to personalize it. I would suggest you try an custom launcher like Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher (I prefer Apex because it has some options in the free version that are only accessible in the paid version of Nova, that's only my thought and taste). If I keep that Apex launcher example, in it you can set how many rows of icons vertically and horizontally, separately for portrait or landscape mode, you can set the margins on top, bottom, left and right sides of the screen etc... Well, you can fine tune to your likes.
If you want to keep the Touchwizz launcher at all cost, I'm afraid I can't help you because it lacks lots of options. It's not bad, but if you like specific set ups, prefer a custom launcher (launchers like Apex allow you to export your settings, so each time you have a new device, you can install your custom launcher on it and import your settings file and instantly have everything configured to your liking).
I hope I've been able to help you.
Have a good day!
