Hope somebody can help me, this is driving me insane... I swear, I want to take this sh*** of a phone and smash it against the wall....
anyways, I have received long awaited Oreo. Updated, all OK. Pretty fast, nice new look like list view in recents etc. Then I found out that when I run Secure folder, it simply freezes. It displays Iris scan/pattern and for like 20 seconds, doesn't react to touches. I can see it working in the background, CPU monitor is changing numbers, but it simply doesn't allow me to draw pattern. When It does 20 seconds later, the pattern is drawn, and Sec Folder opened. Then it takes like 10 seconds to react to anything. and from then on - it works OK. Then I exist Sec folder - same thing! It stops reacting like 20 seconds, and after all is OK.
OK, I say, I have Plasmalite which does something on System level, I'll uninstall it. I uninstall Plasmalite, couple more apps that have anything to do with system (0pt navbar), AdHell2 etc. Later I found out Adhell2 doesn't work, nor does 0px navbar). So I try everything, even uninstall Secure folder, install again - same thing. I wipe cache partition, same thing.
OK, f*** it, I will do Factory reset.
so after factory reset it is much better. No delay on running Sec folder but Sec folder sometimes just closes when launched. not always, but often. it is either closed immediately after launch, or it works. some delays and STRANGE screen redrawing when moving pictures from gallery to Secure folder (like empty screen!!), but it kinda works.
I restore f***ing phone ,took me 2 days. I want to hide navbar, so I install Substratum, Andromeda, Immersive bar and some other navbar replacement app, and it kinda works. But! The Freeze problem on running Sec folder is BACK!
I uninstall everything, reboot phone, but still, there is delay on running Sec folder....
Is there anything I might try? I really can't spend another 2 days restoring my phone it is so boring and frustrating. Damn Samsung.
Thanx
D.
I solved the problem. For more information please contact me by e-mail [email protected]
I solved it too. The problem was restoring the (Samsung) backup. Once I did "clean" install and restored things selectively (w/o restoring data or eveything that was in the backup) everything was fine.

Hey guys,
So basically I do have a hell of a lot of apps and stuff install, and I was wondering, what's a decent about of time for HTC Sense to finish loading?
It take probably 3 mins from when I press the power button to when I can start moving around on the phone.
Is there a way to maybe decrease the time spent on the splash screen (not the animated one, I have a a cool gif and sound for that, but for the screen that follows)
I don't particularly mind that much coz at the end of the day its just 3/4 mins and then I'm on my way but I've been in such a tweaking mood the past few weeks with my HD2 I just keep wanting to make it perfect!
I noticed when I upgraded from Energy's 9th may to 13th may with the same maybe a few more mods installed, the duration of the "launching HTC Sense" has gone down by a minute or so.
Oh and also, I have extensvely checked the forums around for this but it seems all there is, is changing the ink shortcuts but that's not what I want. When I press the end end, it coz up with the quicklist, then I have to click turn off and then the slidetoshutdown comes up. I want to go straight to the sidetoshutdown screen and skip the quick list. I've tried changing the end key in settings>personal>buttons but still nothing
EDIT 19/5/10:
Seems to have found a fix, deleted all my emails and sense now loads in 20 seconds or so. My emails and messages are stored on my SD card via relocation in Pocket Mechanic, maybe keeping them on the device resolves the issue, haven't tested.
Bump please
Sometimes it jungs hangs. Touch the screen if it gets stuck and it should come back just fine.
There's no need to wait until it remembers where it's supposed to be.
It doesn't hang randomly at all, it's just takes a longish time to load when i start up my phone
Maybe have a look in \Windows\Startup\ Maybe with so many installed apps and games this folder is full of shortcuts to let the apps start on startup for quicker access. Cleaning some out of heren maybe makes the phone faster. good luck!
Fair enough, you don't mind the wait, and I understand (it's not as if you restart your phone every 10 minutes!)
But, there's definitely something doing something. I've got plenty of software on mine, and from power off and pressing the power button, right up to a completely loaded and stutter-free Sense, it takes just over a minute (I just timed it at 1:02).
For the end key leading to the slide to shutdown automatically, search the energy thread, I honestly can't remember exactly where it was, but a member posted a fix for it...the same guy that posted the Home button fix, the music player, etc.
Same here.
It's Sense that takes a huge time to completely load. Appears quickly, but veeeery slow and laggy for one or two minutes. Same when i only relaunch Sense, not only after a reboot.
Don't have much in the startup folder, a lot of tabs deactivated (music, docs, footprints, ebboks, twitter, facebook etc), but still...
And even after a fresh flash - with different roms from different cooks.
It does that too when i unplug the phone from a usb connection with my computer - but not if it was connected in activesync mode.
--edit--
just thought of something while typing this. i tried with no sc-card in: way way much faster.
so basically, Sense is scanning my whole 16gb card when it starts?...
Wow I actually cracked it,
I spent like a good hour or so experimenting around with everything possible from apps, to addons to random registry fixes I made. NONE of them did anything.
My sense now loads in 20 seconds flat.
How?
I deleted all my emails... lol
I think it is an SC card issue, because basically I have all me emails and messages stored onto my SD card (made the relocation via pocket mechanic)
Everytime I reflashed new roms, I install me apps games and whatever first, restart and its fine. I import my PIM backup stuff last and then it goes slow, I never really picked up on it because I'm usually finding other random cabs I forgot to install and add them at the same time, leading me to think its those that slow it down. But no, its all the emails, which I suppose makes sense seeing I have a couple of thousand stored.
Hopefully this will work for you guys, move/delete you emails from your SD card! Or it could well be an SD card issue in general.
You know how when you first set up the phone, let's you swipe up on the lockscreen to start right away, or down to "tune a few things first?" Well my phone repeatedly keeps doing that any time the lockscreen comes up, like whenever I turn it on or when the phone sort of crashes. When it happens, I have to wait for No Lock to disable the screen again, because if I use either option, the animation freezes half way through the unlocking and the phone crashes, going to a black screen and I have to turn it off to get it to work.
I thought it might be due to system apps I froze with bloat freezer, so I unfroze them one by one and did resets, to see if that solved it. I did this until everything was unfrozen, to no avail. I thought maybe it was due to a glitch in the extended controls widget I used to disable the lock screen, so I switchedto no lock; same problem. I don't knowb what else to do. Any ideas?
God I hate samsung and their glitch riddled android hacks. They improve literally nothing from stock android, its just glitchy hacks and downgrades.*prays for the next nexus to have a hard keyboard.*
Just fixed the same issue with my sk4g. I tried installing with terminal and various install apps, no dice. There is a workaround until you get the apks back in place. Turn on the pattern lock and set it. When the curtain lock comes up DO NOT SLIDE IT, just open the screen and the pattern lock should pop up. First install Systemapp Remover, if not done already. Download the dump in development section and pull the apks from the app folder. The two apks causing the error are PhoneSetupWizard.apk and Learn.apk(maybe not learn but i did both to be sure also copy/paste the .odex files). Make sure neither can be seen in the system app list in Systemapp remover, if they are there uninstall them. Take the apks from the dump and copy/paste them to SysteAppBackup folder on the sdcard. Go to the restore menu in Systemapp remover and tap to restore each apk. Reboot and all should be well. Thanks to the kind people of xda for this, not me.
edit>>> Run the setup wizard and uncheck the data options to stop maps from running all the time for no reason.
*** I have spent an hour searching through posts looking for this issue. Unless my search-fu is way off today, I can not find this issue.
Problem Cause
Improper shutdown
Was in a game of Battleheart, battery was dying, I plugged it in;not realizing that the power bar I plugged into was not on, tablet power off mid play a few moments later.
So I plug it in for a few mins, then turn it back on to nothing but a bunch of force closes rendering the tablet nearly inoperable.
Problem:
Constant force closes.
-com.google.process.gapps
-com.google.android.patrsnership
-com.google.android.gm
-com.google.android.vending
-com.google.android.calander
com.google.android.gmail
-com.google.providers.calander
etc
Force close Issues
-No Wifi,
-Cannot modify home screens in any way. If I try to remove a widget, the launcher goes into a constant force close loop com.android.launcher, effectivly disabling the tablet.
-Settings will not "take" I have read that solving the typical force closes that I am seeing is disableing the syncing via google and also clearing data/cache from gmaps, calander, bookmarks etc. However, while I can access settings and choose the options to remove this data, nothing actually happens. I deselect the sycing options under settings, but after reboot they are re selected.
-Cannot install any applications. Another solution mentioned was to install a new launcher, like ADW, or LP. Trying to install an apk immediately sends the device to the ausus boot logo and it will boot loop 5 times (loading circle dots rotate, then disappear while still at the asus logo) before finally loading to the home screen and its many force closes.
Solution?
I have not found one yet that is satisfactory. I was hoping toi pick the brains among some of you here, who may have more knowledge insight in solving this issue,
-Factory Reset? While this is always an option, it stinks. Like really. I'm about 15/16gb used on my internal mem. I have tons of apps, music, books, pics, progress in games etc that really sucks to lose.
-Hard Reset? See above
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear em! Thanks!
have you tried a cold linux boot? hold the power and volume down for 10 seconds. You will then have the option to wipe the tablet. wait a few seconds, and another option becomes available(a not wipe symbol). This cold boots the os
Try clearing your dalvik cache.
+1 on wipe caches
had this problem, just wiped 'em and tada

Thanks for the quick replies.
Sorry I should have mentioned, I am running stock. No root, no custom recovery.
Is wiping the dalvik cache still an option?
aaaand people ask why we use CWM. This is why.
idk unless nvflash can fix it you have to lose all your crap in a factory reset.
My stock ROM crashes (or auto-reboots) every 9 days 9 hrs 30min like a clock.
It happened for at least third time in a row, or most likely it is going on like this all the time because I only noticed this odd behavior when I installed a little "uptime" app. After 3 times obviously that's not coincidence, something is causing my phone to crash or reboot every 9d 9hrs 30min.
Has anyone else notice or had same problem?
Stock rom, locked/unrooted, with stock apps and very few extra apps installed, after previous crash I removed almost everything I had installed in the past, I kept only AirDroid, ColReader, Google Drive, File Manager, Mobo player, Skype, SPB TV, TeamViewer - nothing else, yet it still crashed. I can't figure out is it ROM or any of the apps.
edit - perhaps I should have posted in ROM development... Moderator, please move it?
I wish I could help but I've never been able to stay on the stock ROM for that long.
But....no, you've posted in the right place. Put it in developement and it'll get moved to HERE.
There's a TMobile app on there that monitors the days until suggested reboot (7 days) and will then proceed to "warn" you consistently when you're over that period. It is possible that this app is clashing with one of your other apps or doing something in the phone - maybe using too much memory? /shrug
My phone does the exact same thing after a week but it doesn't reboot, it just randomly "soft-crashes" after I hit the back or home key while playing a game or backing out of dialer, apps, etc.
It's extremely annoying and happens whether I have few apps or my normal stock of apps; the only time it doesn't happen at all is after a factory reset (if I don't update anything).
The only thing I can do to stop it is to reboot the phone, as suggested on the 7th day...as soon as I see that notification, I reboot and so far so good.
Good Luck.
I think I killed my phone hahaha! Right when I need it for job interviews :silly:
So I rooted my phone, installed Titanium backup to uninstall useless applications on my LG optimus one (LGP500H). Started backing up everything and removing one application at a time, being careful. When I got to "Nuance", I thought it was a useless program for voice control, so I backed it up then uninstalled. Then before it finished (Or after, I don't know), "force close" messages kept looping and I couldn't get out. So I restarted my phone (managed to do this between two "force close" messages).
Surprise, my phone reboots, but to a black screen with only the notification area up top. When I lock then unlock the screen, I see my background, then I swipe to unlock the screen and it goes back to that black screen. Even the "Search" hard button does not show up anything. So all I can do is check my notifications, turn on/off the wireless, gps, data, sound. Nothing else.
So I decided it was time to install CyanogenMod, but found out you absolutely need to install ClockworkMod to reboot in recovery mode. So I'm stuck. Can't do anything, can't find on google how to flash CM without ClockworkMod, no idea what is the problem.
I even tried to reset to factory default, I get past the configuration screens to choose the language and the time, then it goes back to the black screen. So I need to completely wipe my phone and replace it with cyanogen mod, I think it's past trying to recover anything.
I saw one other guy with that problem on google and nobody really answered.
EDIT:
I think maybe I just found out that I might have deleted the home screen somehow? although I didn't delete anything that I wasn't sure of.
If anybody else has this problem and can't get an answer like me, I figured out the solution.
Send a message text to your phone from a friend's phone with a link to the market for any application. Then find Titanium backup and install it. you will be able to run it from the notification area, then find your backups, and reinstall them. Boo-yah!
