Can I re-lock the bootloader? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Guides, News, & Discussion

I've oem-unlocked my device to install twrp and magisk.
Now, Can I re-lock it? Just to remove the ugly alert when rebooting...

If you've flashed magisk and installed twrp you can't lock your bootloader, because your phone would be unusable. So you have two options (1 Deal with the ugly alert (2 Wipe your device with MiFlash and choose clean and lock

How to root 33R OTA without unlocking the bootloader?

Has anyway found a way to Root the OnePlus One without having to flash a custom recovery with the new 33R OTA?
(yes I didn't check the CM recovery)
*But after I updated to the 33R update I still had root access intact, despite gaining root by boot and not having unlocked the bootloader under 33R. The problem was I did a factory reset and obviously it reflashed the newer bootloader and I lost root access (yes stupid)
This can no longer be done 'fastboot boot twrpimgname.img' with the 33R update ;
Aren't One Plus all about give you the power so why did they go ahead and block boot custom recovery that worked before ??
This is the under 33R OTA =
C:\adb>adb reboot bootloader
C:\adb>fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img
downloading 'openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-bacon.img'...
OKAY [ 0.402s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot boot)
finished. total time: 0.404s
Seems the have patched being able to boot a custom recovery without unlocking the boot loader
Yes I realized the the 'Update CM recovery' option but not after I updated to 33R (my oneplus was rooted without having to unlock the boot loader)
I did do a Nandriod backup of course before the 33R OTA.
The nandriod backup is rooted without having to unlock the bootloader via this ' fastboot boot twrpimgname.img '
Is their no way yet to boot a custom recovery without unlocking the boot loader ? Does one have to wait for a update twrp recovery to boot not flash ?
The question is: WHY?
the locked bootloader is locked because it allows only booting a signed recovery, if you use a custom-unsigned-by-manufacturer recovery there is no sense in keeping the bootloader locked.....
OnePlus knows that 90% of the users are rooting and unlocking, so there is no sense to keep it unlocked.... in case of necessity, you can relock the bootloader !!!
Anyway, you wrote in the wrong section !!!

What area is the right one, my bad.
Also asking if their is a way around the 33R to boot custom recovery
Why though?? You don't need to boot to a custom recovery. Just unlock the bootloader, it doesn't void your warranty. You have absolutely nothing to lose by doing it, and absolutely nothing to gain by leaving it locked.

Just an innocent wipe... and he only wants root.
Yeah and the right way to get root is to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP, and flash SuperSU.
Back stuff up, unlock bootloader, restore stuff. It's stupid to try to 'hack' into the world's easiest phone to root.

go back to 25R an root it
then untick the update recovery in develop settings
install recovery twrp
now remember to have the update recovery
install the 33R
with twrp an in the end choose fix permissions
now u can download from phone it will come up to fully root
just hit fully root an install with twrp
it will download root
an restart in recovery wait fore it to finnish an u are now rooted on 33R
Have you tried towelroot? https://towelroot.com/

Cant unlock bootloader after 7.0 update

Hi, i have following problem.
I have installed MIUI EU Rom with Android 5.1.1 with Root and unlocked bootloader.
With Titanium Backup i freeze some Mi Apps, like Mi Account
After that i installed newest Update of MIUI EU Rom with Android 7 with Update function, not with twrp. i lost root and my bootloader is locked.
I received the unlock code from xiaomi and want to unlock bootloader. But for that i have to link my device with my xiaomi account.
The problem is, that i cant unfreeze the mi account app, because i lost root
I found no other way, to unlock my device or get root.
Downgrade don't work, factory reset don't work, reboot to recovery don't work
Device shutdown and must be started manually every time. After Reboot it stays on current rom without any changes
Any idea how to unfreeze or reinstall my mi account app, link my device to xiaomi account or to unlock my device?
You have to erase all the data and reinstall the last build.
Then reconnect to your Miui account.

But how can i do that?
I cant access recovery or flash things with fastboot
I cant flash a rom with Updater App. Phone restarts, shutdown und must be restartet manually. Rom not changes
When i try "factory reset" in settings, phone shuts down, same thing. Nothing changed
It seems, like revovery is not working anymore and i cant flash new one because bootloader is locked.
Is there an option to reset data by fastboot?
Does "fastboot erase userdata" work with locked bootloader?
And will it unfreeze "Mi Account", because its a system app, not a user app?
Mitools via fastboot. You'll have to erase all

(Unofficial) Huawei Honor 8 Lite rooting

ROOTING HUAWEI HONOR 8 LITE (acterhd edition)
(x) acterhd probably void own warranty, so have no much chances to happy life; also probably corrupted stock firmware, and await replacement
/!\ Do it on own risk!
/!\ After unlock bootloader may disappear most apps.
/!\ If you stucked on "Unlocked and not trusted" and cannot go to bootloader, try uncharge battery to low as minimum, system will forcely shut down.
Unlock bootloader loader getting code (http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/hwdownload/download)
You can load modded SuperSU (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...-to-root-huawei-p8-lite-2017-android-t3582179 or https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298935423)
Some files also included
Gapps here not included (You may get http://opengapps.org/)
1. Enable USB debugging and type `adb reboot bootloader` i.e. boot to bootloader if possible
2. Unlock bootloader by `fastboot oem unlock #CODE#` (you can use side buttons), after this action will auto reboot with "Factory reset", which you can disappear most apps
3. Load most compatible recovery (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...on/recovery-twrp-huawei-p8-lite-2017-t3591762)
4. Flash recovery `fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.0-2-v2-prague.img`
5. Reboot to recovery mode
6. Install SuperSU for EMUI5.0 by flashed TWRP
7. Reboot device
8. Also you can `fastboot oem relock #CODE#`, but be accure with this moment

locking Bootloader again?

I unlock the bootloader to install twrp and magisk, it's possible to lock the bootloader again without problems or the phone don't boot?

Locking you bootloader while TWRP and Magisk are installed will give you a guaranteed brick. Use a Fastboot Rom to return to stock, then you can lock it
If you want to keep TWRP and root, do not lock the bootloader. As the user mentioned above, you'll brick your device.
if i flash stock rom, than is that ok to lock the bootloader ? and how to lock it ?

If you flash a full stock rom then yes. All you do is use the fastboot rom we talked about earlier, let the phone boot up (don't bother completing the setup process, just let the phone boot up), restart to bootloader, and use the following command from the command prompt on your pc:
Fastboot oem lock
It will give you a menu on your pone asking if you want to lock the bootloader. Tell it yes. It will then lock the bootloader, factory reset the phone, and then boot up normally with the bootloader locked. It's that easy.
ok thanks.one question. is that important to flash the stock rom using fastboot only ? or can i flash it using twrp ?

I did it through twrp, worked just fine. Make sure to wipe beforehand though, don't want to risk bricking your phone

Doing it with a Fastboot Rom will guarantee that things needing wiped will get wiped. When returning to full stock I will always recommend the Fastboot Rom just because of how it completely handles everything it does flawlessly. I imagine flashing a full rom in TWRP will work but I have never tried to return to stock this way
i did try stock using twrp and it was perfect
I have unlocked bootloader but in the end NOT installed TWRP or root (just wanted to test if i can live without it and still be able to install without wiping everything)
Now I just want to lock bootloader again for selling device.
Can I do so with simple fastboot command "fastboot oem lock" without bricking phone?

Use msm download tool to be sure. It will however wipe all.

You can, but if you are selling the phone I would still use a fastboot rom just to be sure everything is wiped and no data sensitive to you is being sold along with the phone.
Thanks a lot for the shared info here. This is just what I need and had been asking myself for quite some time now.??
So never lock bootloader with twrp and magisk installed.

I have two Redmi Note 7 Pro devices. (Global Devices - A.K.A Indian Variant)
first device is unlocked but no custom rom installed like ever
second device is unlocked with lots of custom rom history
While trying to relock my bootloader with MIFLASH (clean all and lock) and Global firmware 11.0.8
First device firmware flash worked perfectly and bootloader is set to lock state - (Widevine status is L1 )
Second device as stated in OP . Flashing success but device showing "SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESTROYED". If i unlock the bootloader of the device then it boots normally but device is in unlock state (widevine status L3)
I think some modifications might have happened to some system partitions which causes the VBMETA - SRCLIST check failure.
ANY DEVS PLEASE LOOKS INTO THIS ISSUE ...
Yeah someone out there I"m trying to relock bootloader bcoz to get access to my corporate mails , netflix HD content and GPAY
(On other hand magisk is having CTS profile check failure as google changed the approach to check the unmodified system)

If you wanna lock your bootloader then don't untick the option, use MiFlash along with lock devide option. That should give you stock ROM and a locked bootloader, but don't try this on a custom ROM.

There is no harm having unlocked bootloader with miui stock you still secured and still gets all updates pushed by Xiaomi.
I recently flashed rom miui by mi flash tool and with unlocked option on and as I started from fresh got latest update 11.8.0 hope so but you do one thing uninstall the mi flash tool and reinstall it then do the same steps again you will get successful

I have talked to some developers and they have said its happening to everybody due to some issue by Redmi side you cant rollback from anrdoid 10 custom rom to miui 11 android 9 based you have to wait till redmi releases miui 11 based on android 10 then you can lock the bootloader or you can use edl mode
Did you find any solution to this?

Even EDL mode isn't a solution.
One of my known violet user went to service center and they failed to revive the phone even from EDL flashing. At last they changed the mobo.
Hope this gets fixed after miui 12 with android 10 comes.
P.s : i lost all my hope of relocking the bootloader & i don't think so that android 10 update from Xiaomi will fix this.
Lets hope it gets fixed
I always use the fastboot method to restore original system. Works 100% of the time. It has scripts to flash stock without lock
