Hey guys,
and thank you in advance for helping me!
Well, yesterday I wanted to install the latest Lineage OS on my S7. As usually I installed TWPR (latest version) first, put the Lineage image on the SD Card and flashed it. However sth went wrong and my "data" partition was wiped as well... Now ithe phone was only booting into the TWPR Bootscreen. Nothing else happend. So I thought i messed it up.
So i formated everything possible into "EXT 4". Finally I could run TWPR again and also install the Lineage OS. So far so good... However now my Sim Card is not detected. I tried to reinstall the Lineage OS serveral times - the issue stays the same!
I used latest Odin3 on a Win 10 machine to install the TWPR...
My provider is 1&1 if that matters.
Can anyone please help me? Because I just called a Samsung certified reseller and they told me, that the only chance is to install a new motherboard, which will cost around 300€!!!!! Thats not an option, when u take a look at the prices right now for a new S7
Thank u sooo much!
Have you also formated your EFS partition? Your IMEI is stored into this partition and without IMEI the phone cannot log in into a mobile network.
If you have a backup of your EFS partition, restore this, and the SIM should work fine.
Phone does not detect SIM

Hey,
I have the same issue today, how can I get EFS partition if for some reason I have lost it?
I still have phones imey at the back of the phone though.
Just male a backup of the EFS and store it at a save place (PC/Cloud). If the IMEI on the phone wont work, just copy it back from the PC to the Phone

Hello,
I started with Galaxy Note 2- i317M (rogers, canada), rooted with DN3 V4 beta installed. But I wanted to try DN4, so I created a back-up using TWRP and tried installing DN4. However, I later realized that it is not for the LTE versions yet and phone did not recognize SIM anymore. So I wiped the data and tried installing dn3 v5.5, but the phone still did not connect.
Losing all hope I installed DNv4 again, but it still did not work. So i finally just tried restoring from the back-up I made using TWRP. Everything in the phone is same except no network.
Finally I tried restoring from back-up after doing a complete wipe of internal storage and everything except the external card. But still the error does not go away. I researched more about the error and the fact that my imei shows up as null/null. I used the instructions of using EFS professional, but it did not work. The model number in my phone now shows up as SM-G900F and baseband shows as unknown, and it shows DN3V5 Rom despite the clean-up and restoring from DN3V4.
Any guidance available on this please...I need specific steps because after 12 hour search and try-outs I am lost now.....
UPDATE:
Solved it! Here is the solution for anyone in this problem

worked like a charm.. No reason to throw this and get a new phone
I have had this problem. It didn't happen whilst flashing though. My imei number is now a generic one and I had no efs backup. After 5 days of trying everything I can find I'm giving up. My note 2 is dead as far as I'm concerned. As far as I'm aware to get my imei back I'll have to send it for repair so I'll buy another phone and not a Samsung
I don`t think your phones are dead. I didn`t try it personally, but I`m sure you can restore your EFS back. Just you need to do some research, maybe you could start here:
https://www.google.ro/?gws_rd=ssl#safe=off&q=how+to+recover+efs+folder
Do not give up, read on end you will eventually do it! And, by the way, next time maybe you don`t forget to back up before doing anything to your phone!

I did back up. with both titanium backup and twrp but it is not working. And I dont think I will give up. I will format is all together and start over if i have to.
Do you think it will work if I format it entirely and start over?

Hi,
I've a Nexus 5 (D821) and I was under Slimkat (4.4.4) since a long time with no problems.
One day, the phone lost the network, and impossible to see the internal storage (I've lost all my pictures...)
I look into IMEI (I allready had this problem with my NOTE 3), and saw that there wasn't IMEI....
Ok. I've a backup of IMEI with TWRP and nandroid backup. I try to restore, but no-way, still the same problem. In TWRP, with mtp, I can see the internal storage, and done a backup of my pictures.
I tried to upgrade to 5.1.0 with factory image, i flashed all step by step manually, but the phone doesn't boot...
I try to relock, unlock the bootloader. Impossible to boot.
With my old Note 3, I solved the problem when i only erased the EFS folder. It was rebuilt at the next boot, and problem was solved. But I didn't saw EFS folder on Hammerhead, or, I don't know where it is...
In TWRP, when I flash something, it said "unable to mount /persist" no problem with other partition.
Any idea? Sorry for my language...

Great!!!
Thank you very mutch! I'll try this evening!
Perfect! I recover my phone.
Thank you very mutch !!!
So I had a custom rom on my phone and it went in to a boot loop and after messing about I wiped the wrong partition and now have no IMEI on the phone. Worse still cant find the back up of the phone so unable to restore. Its ok as I have a second Mi4c with sMiUI on and working flawlessly but I would like to recover the non working one. I still have the IMEI, SN etc on the box but need a way to get it back on to the phone.
The phone is not bricked, I have sMiUI back on and can flash back to MIUI if needed but the phone works just no IMEI so unable to connect to the network.
So after a lot of googling and translating Russian and Chinese posts it seems my best option is QPST however I cant seem to find a diag driver for this phone. So QPST isnt recognising my phone.
I dial *#*#717717#*#* to enter diag mode, run device manager and see my phone showing that there is issues as no driver for this mode. I tried the Mi2 diag driver in the hope it would be compatible but it doesnt seem to be.
So now Im at a wall that I cant seem to get over and was wondering if there was anything else I am missing. A fresh pair of eyes is needed as I have flipped through so many browser tabs. Maybe I have missed the correct driver or another route is needed.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for replying. Its a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core 1.8GHz
Maybe you can find it here :
http://www.technokick.com/2015/05/find-imei-number-of-a-lost-android-phone/
But putting it back on your phone is an other thing...
---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:19 AM ----------
For putting a french IMEI, I saw this :
with terminal emulator try :
echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_1″‘ >/dev/pttycmd1
echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_2″‘ >/dev/pttycmd1
If you have a $
It did something
On the tutorial I saw, reinitialisating should recreate an IMEI.
It's weired but it's something I saw there :
http://www.android-mt.com/tutoriel/hackzone-changez-numero-imei-16379
No guarantee it will works...
What did you use to wipe the wrong partition?
Can't you flash miui ROM with their recovery tool?
Cool ill check out those links now.
I wiped with TWRP as formatted and cleared the entire phone. Im in Beijing and theres a Xiaomi store I may end up taking it to if I dont get any further and see what they can do.
Didn't know twrp had such a dangerous setting that wipes the imei

There's no such option to clear the entire phone in the wipe menu of twrp. It's dalvik cache, system, data, internal storage, cache and USB.
What did you do to have imei removed?!?!
As stated in the quote you posted I formatted the phone. I wiped first when I first flashed the rom and the phone worked fine. I changed the phones band in the phone settings and it went in to a boot loop and wiping wouldnt fix, flashing wouldnt fix so I first formatted it again didnt fix so I then MiFlashed and it was working but with no IMEI. Although it could have been changing the band that corrupted the IMEI now thinking of it I assumed it was the format that removed the partition with IMEI. Regardless though the phone now has no IMEI. I have another Mi4c working fine with SMIUI so its in no rush to fix this broken one and since it doesnt look like its possible publicly Ill have to get in contact with Xiaomi at some point.
Can't you change the band again?

I don't understand you saying "I formatted the phone." Meaning you wiped dalvik cache, system, data, internal storage and cache? None of those partitions have anything to do with IMEI. You might have flashed a mal ROM with MiFlash??

Hey guys,
It's briefin here. So yeah long story short, I recently restored a TWRP backup file of the EFS partition from another OnePlus 7 Pro. Now everything else seems fine but unfortunately my whole IMEI is just messed up (It's showing 0(zero). And that's why phone 's network signals isn't working anymore. Also I don't have any backup of my original EFS Partition. So is there any way, that I can rewrite my IMEI to my device?

I currently own a GT-N8000 running the lineage 16 os, but theres no sim detection going on, & I'm having issues with efs partition staying mounted.

Hi,
you are the first person who mentioned this problem.
In usual cases, this is working fine.
How was it before you've installed LOS16?
Is there general a mounting problem with EFS?
Is your baseband working or unknown?
It works sir, even sim detection started working, but no signal at all, i assumed so because i saw some threads about using sim, and bugs with phone calls.

Does it work with stock rom?
The most important thing, dont wipe or format efs!
This will destroy your imei data.

Never wiped the efs, i got the note as a christmas gift from an aunt, it wouldnt boot up, checked stock recovery, it said "failed to mount efs (invalid argument)" i didnt know any thing about that, so i thought flashing stock rom would fix it, it didn't. One way or another i finally got it to boot, but it displayed a transparent window with yellow letters on the home screen. If i left the home screen, the window disappeared. So i decided to switch to custom rom, but anytime i enter twrp, i still get the efs not mounted error, i usually mount it manually to stop the error from showing, i still have imei so i'm not sure the efs is corrupt.

Ok this doesnt sound so bad, if the shown imei is yours (and not a 0049****** IMEI),
you just have to disable factory mode and your sim card detection should be back.
But TWRP should be able to mount it!
I'm pretty sure, that I could fix your problem (build some things years ago to fix a corrupt efs dumps, withoult loosing the imei and certificate).
