Cant setup Hands-Free voice recognition - Pixel 1 - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hey guys!
So I just got my pixel (first gen) a few days ago and I've been trying to setup hands free voice recognition, but there seems to be a problem :<
After I press "Ok Google" Detection my phone asks me to repeat the phrase "Ok Google" a bunch of times so the assistant can learn to recognize my voice, but that is where I'm stuck...
It doesn't matter how many times I say Ok Google it just wont recognize it... it just stays on the first step and the little blue circle keeps turning...
The really wired thing about it that if I say Ok Google on my home screen everything works! The assistant comes up right away...
I tired talking to google support and they didn't know what the issue was, so now I'm stuck, and I'm clueless what else I could do...
Anyone ever encountered something like this?? I'll appreciate any help I can get. I'm also attaching a few screenshots that seems to be of interest to the google support team, might provide you guys with more information.
Thanks a lot!

Issues with Google Now - Voice input stops working

So it's happened 2-3 times now since I got the phone...all of the sudden voice input stops working. I can no-longer say OK Google to open it up, and even if I open it manually and hit the search button, it doesn't record any voice at all.
The weird thing is, I can still use voice input in any keyboard location (like in SMS or Chrome), but the basic functionality doesn't work.
Anyone else have this happen?
did you by any chance use third party launcher?

Nope, stock launcher. All options for Google Now are enabled, and it works great 90% of the time, but then it just...stops. Only way to get it working again is a restart.
Hi there. I also have this problem. I have narrowed it down to MX player or chrome video player (also same issue with headphones + video). When you play a few movies and exit MX player, "OK Google" will not respond to voice commands. The only fix is to reboot your phone. I have tested this today. I played a few movies after i made sure "OK Google" was working fine and sure enough, the feature stopped working immediately after i played a couple of movies. Sometimes it will not get affected, but most of the time MX player or the integrated Chrome video player will break this function. I would like someone else to confirm this, thanks.
ps; Just tested my theory again after a phone reboot and now it seems to work fine... I have no idea wtf is going on with this feature, but when it breaks, even the search bar stops working. The whole thing just stops functioning - speech , search just stops working.

Sort of. I've had a few things happen like this in the past, and I've realized there's always been a reason (sometimes it's changing settings in Android Wear that pertain to Voice support, sometimes it's switching the voice stuff on on my iPhone 6, sometimes it's changing my Google password, etc...).
The way I've always been able to fix it is just to log out of Google Now and log back in. It says it'll lose things, but it doesn't at all. Takes ~15 seconds, and it's always fixed all of my voice issues, including the one listed above and the other one where it recognizes everything and opens the Google Search...but then everything is blank.
hey, thx i got google voice input working on apps and saying ok goole works but voice input isn't working when i'm in the search bar strange haha
UPDATE: try flashing another Official Rom, gd luck

[Q] "Ok Google" not working

It is very hard, nearly impossible to use the "OK, Google" voice action with the OnePlus one. It works in 1% of all attempts inside the Google NowaApp. No matter what I do. I tried is with a normal voice and shouting; with a big distance and a small one. I can't get it working.
It works perfect on my Nexus 5.
I tried a voice call to check if my mic is broken. But it works as expected.
It is even impossible for my to activate Google Nows "work everywhere" feature. It's impossible to trigger "OK Google" 3 times.
Any ideas?
I've got a similar problem.
It does work but the microphone is not very sensitive.
Have to a) hold it close to your mouth or b) talk loudly.
I expect future update will sort it.
I was having the same problem but followed the directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fixed-microphone-ok-google-low-t2805568 to increase the mic sensitivity and it works fine now. Mine wasn't working at all before. A few people report force close issues so make sure you backup first. I have not had any problems though.

ya, I've seen that. Just thought I would let impatient people like me know it currently has been addressed.

Waking up device with "Ok Google" voice command?

Has anybody had success with waking/unlocking your phone with the "Ok Google" voice command? I enjoy using it but I don't want to have to unlock my phone to use the voice assistant every time, particularly when it's for simple questions (I know, first world problems). I enabled Trusted Voice but that doesn't seem to work when my phone screen turns off. Any help would be appreciated.
Same here. I also tried to do that. Ultimately i came up with nothing.
same here man.
I can't recall the source, but I'd read somewhere it only wakes up to the Dear Honor voice command activated in settings. Seemed to work when I tested it. Also found an automate module that senses the honor voice app open, closes it and loads the Google one. It's pretty sluggish but that's the only workaround I was able to find.
The okay Google command only works with screen off on Nexus and Pixel devices. Honor has another command that you must use, but it doesn't tap into Google assistant.

Looks like it's been removed from the list. I went ahead and zipped a copy of the flow so I can upload it here.

Google listening in on all the time, 24/7 , and i do not even say OK Google

Have anyone experienced, that the microphone of "OK Google" shows on screen, when you unlock, like someone said OK Google, i keep thinking my phone uses a lot of battery on listening in on the conversation.
A second note, my dog barking can even make OK Google react, that is so weird , anyone else on that topic having dog barking making Google assistant open?
I could even replicate the problem, making my dog bark, and it opened, and waited for a command So im not kidding.
Maybe my first question has the answer in my second question, that it hear my dog barking, and when i unlock, my dog activated this screen ;(
Do you have the Google Search bar active on your homescreen? Try to remove it. I know that this is what keeps the ok google on at all times.

Hey Google Hotword Not Working

My wife and I both have a pixel 3 and there are numbers times when the assistant is not triggered by saying "ok Google" or "hey Google" while the screen is off. There have even been a few times when it won't respond when the screen is on. Does anyone else have this issue?
And yes, we have retrained the voice recognition.
Yes I've had the same issue. Not sure what helped in the end. Maybe a phone restart? or reinstalling the google search app?

Had the same issue 2 days ago on my P2XL. A cache and data wipe of the google app fixed it :good:

Personnaly I've noticed I have to yell the word in order for the phone to wake up. I first thought it was wrongly configurated and wiped the app data several time, until I figured the pixel was a bit deaf..

I have noticed that Google Assistant been buggy during last few days. Clearing storage and cache does help but even when its back working sometimes it has issues making the registered action. For, example, setting alarm/timer gets registered (the text appears in google assistant but google assistant is sometimes slow to read the registered command + even after google assistant repeats the command and says its done the actual action does not following, meaning the alarm/timer is not set and only on second try it gets through. Never had similar issues before. Not sure if its google app or December update, but I did not have any issues before.
No issues with things like Weather reports and reminders though..

This kept happening to me last week. My phone was on battery saver which did not turn off automatically after charging. Had to toggle the battery saver and do a restart to have OK Google work somewhat reliably.

I thought this was just a glitch, but my wife's old phone did this right before we upgraded to the Pixel 3. She burned the food in the oven because the timer didn't get set even though the assistant confirmed the command.
Maybe we should start saying please and thank you before the machines rise against us.
