Noticed Firmware finder showed a security patch for Nougat, dated in June. Since my phone shows
April as the last patch, tried to install it, bombs out....FYI, if you are like me and run a adblocker like ADGUARD
which is basically a VPN....TURN IT OFF FIRST!!!!
So after I did that, updating via proxy, the default system update program on the phone, shows updates
available and started downloading.
My question is, after it gets to 100%, it pops up and says another patch is available, downloads it, and another
patch, download s it and so on. Now I'm up to patch #16....
The entire thing is suppose to be 3.87GB. Instead of downloading the entire file, does it just download it in
chunks of around 284k?
This is a USA branded version of the 9 by the way.
Was gonna update this morning via FF but it says it's not approved using my IMEI (or not) :/
After you see that there is an update (the 200 some mb security one), start downloading, pause, disconnect from proxy and resume. It wont keep downloading updates after that.
However, after installing the update, my security patch still says april. So i guess its a no go.

I switched my wireless, to another one that I had not set up the proxy for. It finished, updated, said it updated, but the file specs still show April security patch. So like you mentioned, apparently it didn't work.
I'll just wait til it hits the official EMUI update app. FF never seems to get it right for the USA variation of the phone.
New firmware but I can't seem to update. Firmware not approved for installation.

FF has become pretty much useless for me lately. For my Porsche Design Mate 9 it just doesn't detect anything newer than B180, while there were a couple of more recent official firmware updates after that one.
Hi. I got an Honor 9 through Three in the UK approx 3 months ago. It came unbranded and is currently on C432B100. Has anyone in the UK received any updates since getting their phone via OTA. I have already questioned this through HiCare chat and they have stated that there are some security updates coming soon. I previously had a P9 which never received an update in the 2 years I had it. Live chat also said that the updates are done in batches but i doubt there are that many Honor 9's in the UK to receive updates that warrant it to be put in batches.
Im stuck in the same situation, still on B100 firmware, with, what seems like no hope of any updates, im waiting on official oreo, as from what i have read, huawei already has the correct partitions for project treble, and someone has got oreo treble working on a mate 9, which has the kirin 960, and i think someone else got it booted on an honor 9.
i guess its just a waiting game for now. oreo is in beta, so i expect an official update soon.
Just use the firmware finder app to spoof updates to your device. I used this and am now on B180 working fine.
do the capacative buttons work on B180?

I have no issues with full stock B180.
Thanks. Will give it a go later when I have time.

Ive got firmware finder installed, and can download the latest firmware, i'm assuming i need to then flash the zip with TWRP, only problem ive got is that I don't have a microSD card.
unless you can perform a 'fake' OTA with the firmware finder app?
It also says that the firmware is not approved for installation when I check access
i've found a B180 firmware on ff and used the in app proxy to install but got an unstable network message after 65% which then reset to 0. Am i doing anything wrong?
This is a bug in firmwarefinder, happens to me also sometimes. also you guys dont need a custom recovery, leave everything stock, bootloader locked and frp and the HWFF update can still be done. When unstable network message occurs for me it always helped to stop the HWFF proxy and restart it, then when everything is downloading well i leave the phone alone till 100%. Then update starts in the same way as OTA directly out of settings menu. No need for recovery, sd cards etc. Only make sure that you get the FULL OTA package and proof your imei first. If its not approved the huawei check wont verify the firmware and the installation will fail (without consequences).
approved firmwares are B120, B150 and B180 as far as i have checked myself. For the other ones i think the best is to install the nocheck_recovery
Hello
You can use also Funky Huawei. However, it is not free. But, it works fine.
Do tools like funkyhuawei and dc-unlocker execute more sophisticated code than you can do yourself?
Hi. Just updated to B180 via FF proxy. Had trouble getting it to download via WiFi so used my mobile data and worked perfectly.
I finally got it to work, successfully on b180 now, don't see why b181 etc.. is listed as they are not approved for install

It just lists all of the firmwares that are available for the model. There is a seperate check whether they have been approved for install.
I think the proxy in FF is only to trigger the download. I always shut it down straight after the download starts.

Ok, I think not.
See demo: https://youtu.be/pt5pWPhcsW4
There's a short pause when you shut it down, but it resumes quickly afterwards on your standard connection.
Of course, there is nothing wrong keeping the proxy on during the download.
An update for people on B100 in the UK. I updated the other week to B180 via FF proxy. I received the OTA for B182 just now and everything working fine. So at least it still receives updates. One further mention, I previously had a p9 before my honor 9 and across almost 3 years this is the first update I have ever received. It makes.you wonder how bothered Huawei are about their phone updates.

Thanks, UK on B100 as well, didn't realise there had been so many updates. I've just installed FF, can you tell me which version of B180 you selected? Was it the full version or the update?
Cheers

Thanks, I've started the download of the 3GB update file with the proxy then removed the proxy and it has continued. Downloading over a 4G hotspot so might take a bit of time. Hopefully I'll be updated soon and hopfully Three UK allow VoLTE for this handset.
Cheers
Guys,
My phone js now in B187 (Nougat) for Japan Version (C635).
Yesterday, I checked FF and saw that B361 (Oreo) for C365 already approved. However, change log is somethinglike Google patch.
I know Oreo update is started from B360, then B361 should be an update for it.
My question is that, is it safe for upgrade directly to 361 (via FF) and skip B360 - which still seems not approved at the moment.
Thank you
If youre on C635 you shouldnt be able to upgrade to a C365 version without rebranding.
New firmware in FF approved for install FRD-L09C432 and FRD-L19C432.
anyone try it?
I think is just Security patch but i didn't tested it because I have root
It's a January patch
Is one month old...

Right, but it's becoming installable for full stock devices
I have FRD-L09 and the firmware results Not Approved for installation if i search by IMEI. Without it looks like approved. Ahahaha . However just security patches of January
Its just the January patch that appeared in FF a month ago. Its seems like it is available now for certain countries. I have just checked and in Germany its still not approved for installation(checked via IMEI) but I heard some people in Italy are receiving it. Would you guys be so kind and check if its approved for installation in your countries and post in where it is rolling out?
Officially the only completed update roll out is of August security patch, in EU. So I would say they are a 5 months late. And that is even worst given Meltdown and Spectre threats.
I received it in France I wait some noticeable changes to unroot and update
Looks like it will be rolling out soon for the whole EU... Wow just one Month late they are improving!

I mean they develop it as soon as google releases the patch but release it a month later? I dont see the logic behind this since they havent changed anything since it appeared in FF
My FRD-L04 is still on B389...sigh...

Is that the August patch? Have you looked in FF is there are updates available and approved for installation and you just have an issue with the OTA-Updater?

I believe that the last update that I received was the October patch. Up to this point, I've just used the System Update search under settings. Getting the FF app, It shows that B389 came out 2017.10.28. and I now see that B391 from 2018.1.11 is available. I guess this is just the January security patches??
Edit: B389 is no longer on the server and B389b is the only one that is available for Installation. It says that B391 is not approved for installation.
I install it...only patch security..

Please explain the process of redlotus procedure. I'm unable to understand the process from Original thread.
Guys, can you test how Cell Location works?
Open Location in Settings
Set "Save battery" mode
Then press 3 dots in upper right corner and disable both WIFI and Bluetooth switches
After this, disable wifi (is enabled) and wait about 2 minutes (or make reboot)
Then open Google maps and have a look to location
If location is not working, the point should be gray or absent
For me, in 387 firmware location does not work ^(
U can use Google translate

Tried B391 multiple ways, not working on FRD-L04. Dont try please. not approved yet.
Hi all,
Apologies if this is an obvious question but I am trying to ascertain the upgrade path for my UK unlocked (region 432) Mate 9.
After waiting in vain for months for my phone to get the Oreo update OTA I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade it via Firmware Finder to 8.0.0.363 (C432). I would now like to continue applying subsequent upgrades via FF (i.e. those for which my EMEI is authorised) to receive the latest Google security updates plus the recently offered Face Unlock.
My question is...... do I need to sequentially apply all of the Google security patches (e.g. February, March, April, etc.) or can I jump straight to the upgrade that includes May's security patch plus Face Unlock (8.0.0.368)? Are the security patches applied incrementally or would 368 contain everything I need to jump from 363? I would rather upgrade my phone once to get to 368 rather than 3 or 4 times.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Your phone will find and download the latest firmware. You won't need to do multiple firmware installs.
At the moment though FF is playing up. I'm on C368 and waiting for my phone to pick up C369 which is release and authorised according to FF.
