[Guide][2016] Genymotion with Play Store, SuperSU and Xposed

[email protected]!
Genymotion is a very popular Android emulator, for users as well as for developers. There are several tutorials and videos out there about how to install the Google Play Store in Genymotion, but most of them are outdated. That's why I wrote this new tutorial.
The most common problem is force closing Play Services. The problem is solveable, but annoying. You have to flash one version, flash over a second version, wait for self-update, that sux. Everyone prefers everything working out of the box. There are also a bunch of flashable zips, which work with custom recoveries like TWRP on real devices, but don't work with Genymotion.
The crucial point is using the right Google Apps package. OpenGapps have a special script structure included in their flashable zips. Unfortunately they don't work with Genymotion. Fortunately there are BaNkS Dynamic GApps. These work with Genymotion, are up to date and don't crash.
It's the same for SuperSU. You have to use the right (old) version and update later, newer versions of SuperSU's systemless root don't work with Genymotion.
What you'll get:
Genymotion VM with
Android Marshmallow
Google Play Store
SuperSU
Xposed
What you need:
Genymotion
Genymotion ARM Translator
BaNkS Dynamic GApps (only this package, not OpenGapps or any other)
SuperSU v2.46 (yes, old version)
Xposed Framework SDK23 x86
Xposed Installer (Thread with attachment)
Short tutorial for experienced users:
Create new virtual device with Android 6.0.0
Flash Genymotion ARM Translator and restart
Flash Xposed Framework and restart
Install Xposed Installer
Flash Gapps and restart
Flash SuperSU and restart
Update SuperSU via Play Store
Update su binary via SuperSU and restart
Detailed tutorial for beginners:
Create a new virtual device
Open Genymotion
Click the Add button
Choose Android version 6.0.0 (no former version!)
Choose any device model
Click next and wait until finished
Start VM by clicking the Start button
Flash Genymotion ARM Translator
Drag and drop Genymotion-ARM-Translation_v1.1.zip on the VM window
Click OK when asked if you want to flash the zip
Wait for success dialog
Restart VM by shutting down Android, closing window and starting VM again
Flash Xposed Framework
Drag and drop xposed-v85-sdk23-x86.zip on the VM window
Click OK when asked if you want to flash the zip
Wait for success dialog
Restart VM by shutting down Android, closing window and starting VM again
Install Xposed Installer
Drag and drop XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk on the VM window
App opens, when clicking on Framework, you should see version 85 active
Flash SuperSU
Drag and drop UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip on the VM window
Click OK when asked if you want to flash the zip
Wait for success dialog
Restart VM by shutting down Android, closing window and starting VM again
Flash Google Apps
Drag and drop BaNkS_Dynamic_GApps_6.x.x_6-10-16_14_15.zip on the VM window
Wait until transfer is completed, this may take a while
Click OK when asked if you want to flash the zip
Wait for success dialog, this may take a while
Restart VM by shutting down Android, closing window and starting VM again
Update SuperSU
Open Play Store
Login with your Google account
Update SuperSU app as usual
Update su binary
Open SuperSU
When asked for su binary update, choose Normal (as there is no TWRP/CWM on Genymotion)
When asked for reboot, click OK, not Reboot (this doesn't work in Genymotion)
Restart VM by shutting down Android, closing window and starting VM again
Voilà! Have fun with your virtual Android device!
Updates:
There haven't been Updates of Genymotion ARM Translator for a while, but it still works.
The tutorial should work for new versions of BaNkS Dynamic GApps, but if you have your VM up and running, they are getting updated automatically.
The tutorial works for new versions of Xposed, simply flash a new framework version the same way as in the tutorial.
SuperSU is getting updated via the Play Store, for new VMs use the old version and update as described in the tutorial.
Troubleshooting:
Genymotion uses VirtualBoxHeadless as its backend. If your VM doesn't start immediately after shutting it down, give it a few seconds to quit VirtualBoxHeadless and try again.
If your VM still doesn't start, kill VirtualBoxHeadless via your task manager. If you don't know how to do that, simply reboot your computer. Your VM should work again.
I have tested all this on Linux, but it should work on Windows and Mac OS X as well. If you have improvement suggestions for this tutorial, let me know.
Greetings
Thank you very much!
It helps me a lot.
Would you mind my reposting (translated to Chinese) on my blog?

The official microG apps are working well on Android 5 and 6 so why don't you support these versions?

I will support it in the future but currently not, because I don't have a phone that run these versions of Android.
There are some big differences and if I add support without test it I will probably broke something.
Sent from my Samsung GT-S5830i using XDA Labs
It would be nice if anyone could post the phone model, the type of recovery, the android version and say if the installer works and if the detected CPU is correct.
Purchases and IAP
@ale5000
Hello!
I have set up my device (OPO running Darkobas MM ROM) using your script. Are purchases through the play store and in-app purchases working for you? Because my play store keeps crashing when I try to buy something.
EDIT: By saying "using your script", I meant that I enabled signature spoofing via your script.

This thread is about the microG unofficial installer and it doesn't yet support MM ROMs (only the installer, microG itself support it).
Instead the thread about the script that enable signature spoofing is here (this one already support MM ROMs).
About purchases I cannot be sure since I don't buy, it possibly work, but you need some things:
- You need to put the original Play Store apk in /system/priv-app (any other position will not work).
I'm not sure if the latest version work, to be sure manually extract the one inside the microG unofficial installer and put it in /system/priv-app (it is an old version that should work on almost every phone).
- Then restart the phone.
- Then open microG self check and check that everything is working as it should and re-try to buy.
After that please tell me if it is working or not.

@ale5000
I did what you suggested and tried using the version you provide in your installer. I was able to complete one purchase too, but then Google Play Store updated itself automatically to the latest version and purchases broke again. I read these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-y/general/trick-how-to-disable-google-play-store-t2951378/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/delete-disable-downgrade-prevent-update-t3091832/
but didn't find a solution to the auto-update problem for marshmallow. Do you know of an other way?
Thanks for your help so far.
I need some time to look for a solution.
I have released a new version.

Oh hey. Thank you for all your help on GitHub. I wonder if I could flash this onto my S4 Active with FlashFire while it's running Kitkat instead of Lollipop. It would definitely be easier.
@PrincessPeach457: My installer works perfectly on KitKat.
PS: I will create a tool to automatically remove GApps through adb in these days.
@PrincessPeach457: Now there is ADB Toolbox, currently it only work with unlocked adb.
I plan improved support later.
Version 1.0.3 Alpha released with support for newer Android versions, see first post.
It need testing so don't use it if you don't know what to do.
If you decide to try it please report back.
Do you plan to support 64bit CPUs any time soon?
@PhatUgly: Yes, soon.
Can you please run these commands and post the results?
Code:
adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abi
adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abi2
adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abilist
adb shell getprop ro.product.cpu.abilist64
adb shell ls /system/priv-app/*/lib/

Thanks, now I need the same thing from someone with a phone with x86-64 CPU.
I have released a new version with support for 64-bit ARM CPUs.

[GAPPS] [EUI] Gapps packages for EUI roms

When GApps packages of any versions from OpenGapps is flashed to EUI ROMS, it swaps the default EUI package installer with Google's package installer. So, Developers & Senior Members, plz find a way to keep the default EUI package installer instead.
Default EUI package installer has more advantages with preinstallation virus scans, take lesser installation time & looks better than Google AOSP package installer.

[HELP] Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos China (SM-G9200) CHC/TGY MegaThread

Hello everyone,
I'm one of the few unfortunate to end up and stick with a Chinese variant of Galaxy S6 model SM-G9200. This particular model (SM-G9200) comes in 2 variants(CSC): The Hong Kong (TGY) version (last ROM G9200ZHU2ERK2 Nov.2018 v7.0) packed with Google Apps and all the goody goods, and the China (CHC) version (last ROM G9200ZCU2ERK2 Nov.2018 v7.0) with fewer features and which I happen to own.
Both are virtually the same phone with just different firmware. As some of you may know, the Chinese ROMs don't include Google Apps package due to local restrictions and naturally I've downloaded the Hong Kong variant but this is where I got stuck. The HK ROM won't flash through Odin and it fails at flashing sboot.bin while the phone saying "SECURE CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER)". This generally indicates that I attempt to flash the wrong ROM but SamMobile says the SM-G9200 has 2 CSC ROMs in which only the CN version seems to work in Odin. I've already unlocked the bootloader with CROM apk (link provided) but with no use still. I've also tried a .pit file for the HK variant but I get "SECURE CHECK FAIL (PIT)". Also, some have suggested a 4-file method of flashing but that's no where to be found.
Now I know that I could just stick with the CN ROM and root with CF-Auto-Root (link here), then flash the GApps but it goes much deeper than that. What I usually do with Samsung phones in the past was to just flash TWRP in Odin (link here) then flash/debloat/modify files only through TWRP because it won't modify the system files and break dm-verity, SafetyNet, SELinux and other Knox security as these are crucial for another app that I'm used to, the Barclays Mobile Banking app. This app won't work without Google Play Services and won't work if the phone is/was rooted in any way, even after a unroot and full restore. TWRP won't do the trick because as soon as I mount the /system partition, it goes through a boot loop (the bootloader detects that dm-verity tree hash check fails and resets itself). One trick that I use to bypass this is to repack the boot.img patched earlier by CF-Auto-Root generated bootloader (link provided) and flash it. However this method doesn't work either as the ROM is in Custom mode again and SafetyNet is missing. Maybe the rom lacks this feature altogether.
I've literally searched the entire internet for resources (Google, Baidu, xda, chinese forums) to get as much insight and files I can gather but my search went as far as it goes.
In conclusion, I've opened this thread to ask for help from the broader community and maybe research additional mods & root methods like Magisk and how to flash the HK or any ROM. My theory is that the block is related to Odin Mode's "Secure Download: Enabled". Please don't reply with things like "please root my phone", "pm please help"..... as I've already provided with all the possible files and what we need is a constructive discussion on how to bust open this phone.
Courtesy to those who made those tools. Their name is in he filename or link source. All files are relevant to the GM-G9200 CN model.
Conclusion
Alright guys, after a lot of research and hard work I came with the best solution. It turns out that there is no way to flash the TGY firmware, however this is not a problem. The solution that I found would be to manually install Open Gapps from TWRP recovery. So here are the instructions to get a clean rom with Google Play and no root traces for banking apps:
- Flash your original ROM with Odin.
- As soon as that finishes, go to recovery and choose "wipe /data" to clear any modified files left out.
- Flash TWRP provided from this post.
- In TWRP you do all the work, firstly you need to make space for Gapps so delete unnecessary apps. You will find a list of apps you can and can't delete in "Knox Out.txt".
- Now flash OpenGapps zip and you may also customise it to install only required apps.
- Now that you modified /system you have to disable dm-verity. Flash the "no-verity-withSE.zip".
- All done! Now you got a phone with Google Play Certified status and passing all SafetyNet & Root checks.
After using the S6 Duos for a while and testing literally every feature I have to say that it is worth using it. However, it does have a few issues which I've yet to fix. so you may want to consider them.
- Not all languages are available. Certain UI elements & apps might not be translated when using an unsupported language.
- I cannot hide the data type indicator (4G/3G) even after disabling Mobile Data, and Dual SIM mode really clogs up the status bar (5 items).
- VoLTE does not work on some networks (UPDATE! Needs to change customer.xml to add the IMS settings and other carrier related features) and Wifi Calling does not work at all because ePDG subsystem is missing on this phone.
- Floating Messages UI crashes when WeChat app is installed. However the feature works flawlessly, only the UI control in Advanced Settings doesn't.
- Maps for SHealth and other apps use the Chinese Amap instead of Google Maps. (UPDATE! Needs to change customer.xml and change Country and Region for your specific language).
- Phone number locator a.k.a Caller ID is only in Chinese.
Hi, Alex.

Installing google play on LineageOS 18 on Samsung Note 3 (90005)

Hi,
I managed to install LineageOS 18 on Note 3. When I download the apk and install-that works. When I open it, the app crashes. I found this solution, and download the armeabi-v7am but does not work. Tried the arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a, does not work also.

Thanks for the reply. I am not stuck after installing LineageOS 18. I can't get into TWRP even after flashing it with Odin. I followed this video. up to flashing the TWRP. But when I press the the power, vol up and home key, and I get to the LOS recovery screen and not the TWRP screen. Stuck here now. There are 4 options here, Reboot system now, apply update, factory reset and advanced.
Do fastboot boot twrp.img
