Hey guys,
I currently have an LG G6 and am not happy with it, Oreo is taking forever, and worst off all , the variant I have cannot be unlocked/rooted. Hows the love of this phone? Still good after all this time? I miss running custom ROMs
I had the same variant G6 and moved to the U11.
Absolutely no regrets, the U11 is far superior in pretty much every way - especially the camera; I found the G6 camera to be average at best, and at worst absolutely shocking.
Do it!
Moved from an S8 to U11 last week and I have absolutely no regrets, the UI flies, the touchscreen response is so fast that you enjoy every moment you pass with the U11.
Camera of U11 + gcam is superior to S8 + gcam
Battery? as for now i get 5 hours SOT (and I don't have a week of battery settling yet) with the U11 VS 3h30 at most with the S8
It's not such a BIG BIG upgrade, I would wait for htc u12. I have both g6 and u11, yes the u11 is better but not that better
It depends, the U12 will not be out before May/June and will cost more than usual, rumours are saying about 850 to 900$, so by the time the price settle down a bit it will be August or September.
Personally I couldn't stand the S8 anymore even though it didn't have any problem, I will be having fun with the U11 till the U12 price settle down to 650-700$, so meaning 5 months
Go U11. You won't regret it unless the u12 comes out soon..
From a cost perspective, it's not going to make sense to wait for the U12. On top of that, as of this writing, it's feature set is speculative. With the reduced cost of the U11, the ease of rooting it, and the custom ROMs out here (I use the Bad Boyz ROM with 100% satisfaction), I'd say if you're leaning towards the U11, go for it ?

Also which device you currently own and are you planning to upgrade for the new Samsung's flagship ?
I will be preordering the plus.
Spent the last year suffering through an Alcatel Idol 4S.
I know, self inflicted wound.
Currently S8+. Going to get S9+. Thought about waiting for Note 9, but the updates to the camera and ram seem sufficient for me.
Upgrading from S7 Edge to the S9+
i just ordered s9plus yesterday on clove !
now, using s8.
but i worry about galaxy X...
Have an OP5T and I'm planning to order the S9+.
Just holding off a little bit as I want to see more about it when in use.
Going from S8+ to S9+ the camera and ram and speaker upgrade is all I missed on the S8.
Sold my S8+, using a OnePlus 5 temporarily.
Will be pre-ordering the S9+ as soon as pre-orders are open in Pakistan, which is on the 2nd of March.
Currently S8 and I've pre ordered S9+
Camera main reason, but also screen size as I end up watching a lot of video on my phone.
Ordered an S9+ yesterday. Currently on an S8 - mostly upgrading for the better camera and larger screen (for books, etc.).
Considered holding off for the X, but I'm expecting the price to make the S9+ look cheap!
I have the Note8 and will be getting the S9+.
I'm confused about getting the normal or the plus version.
I had a Pixel 2 XL and now I'm with a U11+; this would be my first Samsung ever, but I'm a little bit worried about the battery life, which in most threads I have read is kind of average.
Size is also weird, feel like the normal version is small and the plus is too large, not used to this new 18.5:9 ratio.
I don't care much about the dual camera, because the normal version gets also most of the good things.
Any advice would be more than welcome.
:fingers-crossed:
Ordering the S9+ for myself. Most likely will order the S9 for the wife (not a power user) so it should be sufficient for her
Proudly S7 Edge owner and now Pre-Ordered the S9+ and waiting for it to be delivered (hard time )

I originally struggled with the same question when the S8 and S8 plus came out. I finally purchased the S8 plus and in the end was glad I did. I have no questions now, I have ordered the S9 plus from Clove yesterday and am eager to get it. The size difference is really not that great between the two phones - and the benefit of 2GB more of ram and the Dual Camera make it all worth while. There is HUGE difference between a single camera and a dual camera. I have the note 8 too and the difference in cameras and options is significant. My advice is to go for the S9 Plus, you won't be dissapointed.
Going for S9+
Currently on S7.

What about the battery?, in most of the threads I see average consumptions.
I'm not a heavy user, actually, any $100 could do the job for me, but I buy flagships because I rely on the phone's camera a lot by not having a DSLR or any other kind of camera outside the phone.
I'm just a little bit worried about the battery because Samsung has fame of not giving the best results. People starts with 5-6 SOT and they end doing half after a couple of months.

Well, I can't comment on the S9plus battery because I don't have it yet - but I can say that with every Samsung phone that has been released, the battery has been better than the phone I had previously. I have the S8 Plus and the Note 8 (the note 8's battery is the same that is going in the S9plus) I can't give you a screen on time because I don't ever look - but I know I am very pleased with how it performs and I have never had an issue. I also expect the S9 plus to do even better than the Note 8 because of the improved processors and chips they are using, which will run much more efficiently. Honestly, I would suggest that you stop worrying - and jump in - the water's just fine.

When I had my S8+, I was regularly getting 7h of SOT for the 6-7 months that I had the first one. Then on my second S8+, same results. Pretty good battery life on the plus models.
I can get both for around the same price range, and I actually like the notch, so that does not bother me. If I do go ahead and buy the s9 plus it will be the US variant meaning no custom ROMs or nothing while the oneplus 6 will definitely have all of that and more. But the s9 plus will probably have a better camera as it does every year. What do you guys think? In a dilemma of sorts right now....
hmmm its a close one, the one plus 5t seemed majorly less laggy than my note 8, we all know samsung fimware can be laggy at times.... benchmarks were just about equal even though my 5t had 2gb more ram... you cant beat the samsung screen though 5t was very close. i suspect the same with the 6. of course camera on the OP may still be behind the sammy's.
the extra space is a moot point as the newest SD cards almost rival internal write speeds these days ....
i loved my OP but i ultimately changed to sammy as my netwrk in the UK would not support wifi calling and VOLTE on it even though it was ecxlusively sold throigh them (O2 take heed and stop smoking crack!!). Im on three now ad they prob will not support VOLTE and Wifi Calling either on the one OP... so only choice i have is the S9 Plus with Three firmware...
As a OP 5 owner, I'm waiting to see how good the camera is on the OP6, if it sucks I'm not bothering with OnePlus this year. My Nexus 5X had better picture quality than my OP5 (sadly).
I went from the N6 to the OP5T. I couldn't be happier with. I'm not a big camera buff so the 5T camera is better in certain lighting than the N6.
I'd get the OP6
I'd pick the 6. If you don't mind the camera quality, go for the OP6, it's cheaper and will have a better development support.
A difficult one, an open, development friendly phone vs features
I would probably choose the S9 Plus for memory expansion and carrier support (VoLTE and VoWIFI) ...
I think if price is not an issue than a GS9 or LG G7 should serve well. However, for most people, oneplus becomes relevant due to it's price. And if one is hard pressed for cash then Oneplus should do well.
Samsung? NEVER!
Have been using S7 Edge for more than 18 months now and very satisfied with it. Even though the ram is only 4 GB where OP was giving 6 or 8 GB Ram, S7 edge has always stood its head above the OP 5 or 3T or 3. I also use the OP3 as my secondary phone and just love the dash charge.
One of the main reasons that I bought the S7 edge was its IP 67 certification. Hence with the new OP6 with IP certification and the notch, I am inclined to buy it. Will give my update after using both.
S9+ 1M out of 1M time
how come?
install Gcam man! op camera APP sucks, it's nearly top notch with Gcam with HDR+ working
Oneplus 6 as touchwiz or whatever they are calling it now sucks.
S9+ is an overpriced meme piece of crap just like iPhones have been since the 4 basically.
I have the OP6 since 2 days, and I also still have my S8+ here which I'm about to sell.
In terms of speed this is hands down the fastest smartphone I have ever used. I was always happy about my S8+ but after using it again after being 2 days on the OP6 the S8+ literally feels slow and laggy. OxygenOS combined with the SD845 and 8GB of ram is really pushing the speed of android to the moon, it's simply amazing. Multitasking, heavy apps like games etc, you can't drain the power and speed of this phone, it stays so snappy, wow.
Build quality ? First impression in my early days of ownership is very good. Slick and solid design, I don't mind the notch personally, this is going to be the trend of smartphones in 2018 and maybe onwards I guess, until they find a solution for the FF camera. I'm also not too bothered with the back camera's bulging out as I'm using the nylon bumpercase. Let's see how it holds up after a few months of using.
The screen is good for a 1080p Amoled, although I do think the S8/S9 (even on 1080p mode) still are looking sharper. But you need to put them next to each other and really look close for that. It's not a dealbreaker but not gonna lie, I guess those 150'ish higher ppi density on the Samsung displays are noticeable, even on 1080p. Then again Samsung has the best screens in the smartphone game right now.
Wireless charging ? Never used it on my S8+, so I personally don't care, especially with the dash charging on the OP6 being this fast.
The camera is good, not S9+/Google Pixel 2 XL good, but good. I would say similar quality to the S8+ pictures (although the colours are a bit different and this will be subjective whichever you prefer. I personally do like the software of the picture processing of the S8) but the FF camera on the OP6 is better. More detail and better in low light. The cons on the camera right now are mainly software things which I hope they will fix in the next OxygenOS software update. Taking a snap goes slower than on my S8+ for example, and the autofocus problem is present most of the times especially if you try to take a picture up close of something.
The speaker is actually alright I think in terms of volume. However the placement is kind of bad as you can accidentally cover it up with your hand.
Vibrations could have been a bit better too, but it's not as bad as I thought having gone off from the first few reviews.
IP67/68 rating would actually have been nice if they finally added this too, but for me not a reason to not buy this phone. It will handle a casual splash of water or accidental drop in the bath tub if you get it out right after. And even with my S8+ when I was on vacation with my girlfriend last time I still used one of those pockets you can put your phone in to film while being in the pool. Better safe than sorry and works perfectly fine.
For this money, this is indeed the best package you could possibly get if you're looking for something which is 90% a flagship phone for 70% of the price of one.
I sold my 7 months old Galaxy s8 plus for Oneplus 6 and no regrets
Ordered my 8/128 and looking to sell my S8+. Samsung phones are nice, but too locked down for me and too much crap on them. I love the speed and simplicity of the OP6. It's funny cus I'm usually the "bells & whistels" kinda guy. Give me everything...which is why i've had Samsung phones for quite some time. Always good "features" thrown in. But after a while they just become "gimmicky" and not that practical.
I really wanted a simple "minimalistic" phone experience as close to Stock Android as possible (without the hefty price tag of the Pixel 2XL). This is a perfect phone for me. A few gripes here and there, but nothing that can't be addressed in software updates in the future.
Same here, sold my S8+ still under warranty for op6. No regrets. Just to be fair, I would say though S8+ does have better finish and sharper screen. But no match for OP6 when it comes down to the speed and no bloatware. I am satisfied with OP6 purchase
I switched from the S8+ to the OP6 as well and I actually feel the screen on my OP6 looks sharper than the one on my S8+. The white is also more white instead of that greenish hue on the S8+ and it's also a tad brighter. The OP6 is definitely faster and the build quality is just as good. I don't have any issues with the vibration motor as it's kind of low but not annoyingly low just like the speaker. I'll be selling the S8+ soon as well as I'm glad I'm able to unlock the bootloader and root once again. The only thing I hate is they could have found a way to get rid of the bottom chin and maybe put in a larger battery.
I sold my 11 month old S8 to get the OP6. The only thing I miss from the S8 is Samsung Pay and the sharper QHD display.
I sold my 7 month old s8+ for a one plus 6. Much happier!
I sold my S8+ too for the OP6. Software for the camera is my biggest gripe!
Anyone notice the Bluetooth's 100% louder on the OP6?
on 5t strong vibration was unable to understand..if i sit and keep the phone besides i sometimes missed many calls...but Samsung's vibration motor is very good...i thought they would improve in 6 ,did they?
Not really. Vibrations on my S8+ still better than on my OP6.
I have actually been thinking about replacing the S8+ with the OP6, what is the battery life in comparison? is the OP6 any better?
Switched from my Note 8 (Exynos) to the OnePlus 6 256GB variant. I really love my Note 8, but it never felt like it was really built for me. The camera is excellent, the pen was barely used but useful sometimes. The screen is perfect, the speaker normal and overall it should have been a perfect phone... for another person. You know... you hold your phone and know: This feels right? Never thought, it could be the OP6, because I simply was bored and ordered it.
I missed flashing. I missed some flaws to fix by myself. I miss LineageOS so much, I can't even tell. Never had a phone, that lasted on stock as long as my Note 8. Simply, because Samsung locks down everything and annoys every AOSP-dev that much, so development is rather stuck than alive. I also miss kernels and playing around to tweak the phone to my needs.
The OP6 is far from perfect, but will give some peace to my addiction. Also, it really feels good in my hands. Fingerprint is usable again (bad placement on the Note 8), unlocking via my face is blazing fast, the camera isn't that far away from the Note 8 (I know, it sounds crazy, but I don't see that much differences anymore), OxygenOS is blazing fast, vibration is decent and don't feel rugged. Overall I can say, that I never should have bought a Note 8. For me and even if I tried to hate OnePlus for several things in the past... The package I got is more than alright.
@MajorCombover: Don't have my device that long to do a perfect comparison, but compared to my Note 8: Yes, it's like day and night. OP6 wins without any doubts.

For me battery life is pretty comparable (that is: comparing S8+ with Renovate Ice ROM and TGP Kernel, so an optimized setup) with stock OOS (only Magisk added) on the OP6. It seems that the S8+ has slightly better standby drain (~1.2%/h vs ~1.9%/h on the OP6) whereas the OP6 has slightly better (lower) drain during usage of the phone.
I put high hopes in this fine community to come up with great custom kernels, at least those helped a lot on my previous OP devices.
I sold my s8 after using whole 1 year n 12 days.. n yeah i got this beast so happy with op6...

With the same usage pattern, same apps etc.

Standby drain is good on the OP6. Better than my S8+, but that might be because I used AOD.
Battery life overall is just amazing on the OP6 considering it's "only" 3300mah.
Hello folks just want your honest opinion assuming some of you had in the past HTC 10
As a big HTC fan i still run my 10 and i love it.
but if i upgrade a litle will probably have Android PIE with Sense officialy and well better working Gcam port.
I have an offer to get a HTC U11 128 6ram version for abouth 240 USD in mint condition my question is do the HTC U11 worth the upgrade from 10 im asking ex 10 Owners. do you miss something from the 10 when you turn back.
Thanks in advance
yes ofc!
better camera in all contitions, much better battery life sound is better too.Bigger and sharper screen. waterproof. and the colored are awesome ihad the red and now the amazing silver...
The price is very good for 6/128 so go for it..
ive had both phones, yes the upgrade is worth it
I had all HTC flagships since P3600 trinity
U11 was - sadly my last one. I am NOT going back any time soon.
My last phone was the htc10 and yes, the upgrade is awesome.
Better display (more nits and excellent contrast), design (I really love the sapphire blue, is awesome), camera (better in all conditions), ip68 certification and the usonic is just impressive the work htc made.
Just one thing, you will loose maximum volume with headphones when using the usbc-jack adapter, but with the usonic headphones it does not happen.

& why's that may I ask ???
I have a HTC 10 and I can upgrade in another two months max. My wife has a Note 9 and my son has a S8+ and I honestly don't wanna get a Samsung. I consider myself an audiofile and HTC has delivered on that front :good:
If you have the htc 10 then the htc u11 is a good deal to upgrade.
I had few issues with htc 10 specially the display under direct sun light with polarized sun glasses
htc u11 worth it ...... yes
Believe me it is a good deal specially the camera & speakers
I shift to the htc U11 from Galaxy A8 (2018) & I'm happy with the U11 .....I have used Galaxy S7 edge & iPhone 8 plus previously and I found that the U11 is such a good choice.
I had htc 10 (i also had m7 and m9) and now have 11. Way better phone. Bigger screen, better camera, better battery life, not overheating like 10 and more.
Just do it. My main reason for switch was battery. It just sucked on 10. Also camera on 11 is the first proper camera. All my other HTCs have had some kind of problems with it.

Quick question for those that already have an S10: I'm getting a new phone in the coming days. I'm debating Pixel 3 XL vs. S10(e). Both cost the same in my case. I don't care for specs to much. Camera is important but not priority one. A solid and fast system is more important.
I have had an S8 and several Nexus's. I now Samsung Software an don't mind it. I'm in Europe, so AOSP for the S10 might be an option. I don't mind the notch or holepunch on either phone. Solid battery life is a must. I'm now poweruser, but i'd like to 3-4 hours of SOT.
So i get the 3XL for guaranteed Android Q, better camera and faster updates, or the S10e for being overal newer and faster, with longer expected support and more development (assuming from past samsung phones i've had)?
This is my opinion
S10e:
One ui with far more functions
Better display
Better stereo speakers
High quality audio + very good earphones
HDR10 video recording
Camera not as good as in pixel in low light
True dark mode, not grey
Pixel:
Night camera
Stock android
Custom roms
Will probably get more update
I bought the 10e because of the form factor.
I am satisfied so far and it is a super good smartphone.
But if I'm honest, I'm actually waiting for the Pixel 4.
I'm a playful guy who likes to get fast updates and does not want to wait months for Samsung to do something
