[Q] so where are the official reviews?

so the sensation is out for a few days, but no official review yet on any site... odd

Apparently HTC hasn't sent out any handsets to reviewers yet which i find a bit odd :\

Why would a device go on sale before it can be sent to reviewers....have they got something to hide or are they trying to maximize sales just in case its a bad review, either way it doesn't give me great confidence.

I remember that the first day the galaxy S II was out, the net was floded with reviews, starting from engadget, techradar and so on... on the sensation case... nada

This is what i'm worried about
I've been waiting for this device since it was leaked as the pyramid all those moons ago.
It's been released and there's barelty a squeek on the internet about it. Only here is where you can get info about it really. Slashgear did a minimum effort with news to follow...but other than that...not really much.
For a company that are producing record profits, you'd have thought that they would spend a load of money on marketing and advertising to increase sales....I went into the vodafone shop on day 2 in Colchester and they said only one person had enquired about it all day (this was 3pm).
Are they saving everything for the Evo 3D?

Have I understood something wrong or is the phone only available from Vodafone at the moment? And isn't that exclusive for them for a couple of weeks or so? Maybe htc haven't sent any to reviewers yet, because the phone is not officially available until 27th of june?

However, why do you say June 28th is the official date? It's widely rumored to launch on T-mobile US on June 8th. Is T-mobile also getting some advance?

Pretty generic quickie review there. That recorded video is still awful looking, and falls in line with the other video captures floating around youtube. They seem to be giving it a pass, along with the "stereo sound". Their idea of a battery test is also as unconvincing as ever. Instead of running benchmarks in their videos, they should actually show the browser performance between the two, because that is really the only thing that will stand out the most. Ugh, I expect as much from slashgear.

I picked that date from some website and don't remember which one it was. But it will be released earlier than June 28th. I know that because my operator here in Finland is expecting it to be available around weeks 23-24. They are usually at least a week behind of the other operators here, so the T-Mobile launch for June 8th might be quite accurate.

Yea, it's going to be on T-Mobile June 8th. Once there you'll see plenty of reviews.

Argh!! I was hoping for official reviews so I could get this on launch day... (June 8th) guess I will have to wait another week or so.

You still have some time and it's quite likely that GSMArena will review it by then (I said likely, not definite).
There are still 2 weeks before the 8th after all

Next phone?

Have had the Phab 2 Pro since Jan. I purchased this for the large screen and it does deliver. I love the large screen, and the phone is fast also(at least for me). But I can't help but feel left out on the software upgrade bandwagon. Still stuck on December Security updated and Android 6.0.1. I knew going in that updates could be a problem so I am not trying to sound like I am complaining. I have started to eye new phones and there are just not that many prospects for large screen phones in the US. Samsung is getting close with the S8+, but I don't want to lose any screen real estate at all. If anything I would go larger. I am eagerly awaiting the final Note 8 specs.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a replacement for the Phab 2 Pro that at least has the same screen size or larger?

It was the right purchase at the time for me as I wanted a large screen phone and I love it, but I am starting to look ahead and do not see any alternatives out there for the US as far as large screen phones. I admire the ASUS Zenfone 3 Ultra but it does not support ATT LTE here in the states. I guess we just do not have enough people wanting large screen phones in the US. As for me I love them!

I LOOOOVED the phone but it didn't text reliably for me in Suffolk, VA (although it did for someone in New York).
I, too, am bummed that large screen phones are not popular enough here in the USA - I don't get it... Anyway, I have seen the Note 8 and feel like it's the wrong shape. Long and skinny???
I got the Huawei Mate 10 Pro 128GB which was released 9n February 18th. I got it with a $150 gift card from Amazon and received it on Sunday, February 18th! I know you are not going to believe it - but I haven't even set it up yet! But today is THE DAY!!! I have been holding off because it doesn't have an sdcard slot (I am just comfortable with an sdcard) and I didn't really like the shape of that screen, either... But realized that I wouldn't get any better specs for the price and, being a USA release, I might have decent luck with updates.

is that even true? since i have gotten a security patch in every firmware update. But i live in sweden thought so might be different between UK and Sweden i guess.

how often are u getting updates - the UK models are poor at getting updates, my Mate 10 Pro is still on security for March 2018 and not received any updates since, my P20 Pro was only updated yesterday after being on April 2018 security, so I would guess they are probably correct based on when we are getting updates..

I get new update every 1 month if i'm now thinkin it right, but i think i was on may security patch in june and got june update like 3 days ago. next would be july.

I went from iphones to the p20 pro, so far my android experience is making me want to go back... The lack of updates is just sad...

Huawei update cycle is quarterly at best, I had mate 9 and now mate 10 pro forma which will be my very last Huawei device ever. Had to buy a Pixel 2 XL

Don't be disheartened with android and updates, it's only certain manufacturers that don't update monthly or bi-monthly with Huawei being main culprit of where u never know when u going to get an update.

I have Mate 10 Pro and P20 Pro and won't be buying Huawei again. They say my 10 is on latest update with March Security update and unknown when next update will be.
They tried saying that security updates are regular but don't show in the section where it says security updates.. That is how bad they are.
But I will be back with Pixel (skipped the 2 XL due to all bad press over it) or the OnePlus by end of year

Not had any updates yet.......still on Apr 2018 update with phone on 8.1.0 from EE so definitely not monthly. Hopefully will receive updates at some point!

Just chatted on HiCare they say 782 firmware 130 was released on 9th July and it may take up to a month to deliver to my device..... Pathetic

It was for the CLT-L29 C782 on Three UK and according to Huawei all their devices should have it by today.

On O2 here and still no update

EE UK here - still no update.

All non-Pixel devices are the same. Google should make all manufacturers post security uodates., Especially for newish phones.

I tend to disagree, OnePlus were pretty sharp on updates but agree the security updates should be mandatory. Finding a delivery method to avoid phone company's interference is the key issue.

My phone was delivered today, i have c782 (EE)

On their website, they have a give away for the Zenfone 6 to come to North America in 47 days.

B&H has it on their website. If you enter your email address they notify you when it's in stock. I'm getting impatient though. I think ASUS really needs release their phones a lot sooner after they unveil them. If something more appealing comes out between now and then I may get that instead.

With the sweepstakes ending later this month, there could possibly be a new model with the USA/North American release. I hope so, at least.
Why would Asus have it available to the USA via importer websites but not officially? Maybe so far its taking a while to get through FCC certifications...

I would buy the international version, but I want to be sure all of the bands in the USA are available on the phone. I use AT&T and want to be sure I get full coverage. From what I've read, Gearbest mainly sells the international/Europe version and this one is spotty with the USA bands available. Hence, I wait for the USA release. But I'm with all ya'll . . . If they don't hurry up another phone may grab my attention and they lose that sale.

BHPhoto now have July 15 for the start of pre-orders... Still no price or ship date.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone following the saga of trying to buy one of these in the UK.
Preorders went up late may with a mid June shipping date suggested by customer support. Then preorders were closed, but no phones arrived. Delivery date is now suggested as end July with the phones hidden on the Asus UK store.
I still really want my zenfone,, but this is as botched a launch as I've ever seen.

I called Asus and they said "middle of July" but I take that with a grain of salt.
The botched launch plus reports of bad call quality/volume (has to do with the flip cam I think) are making me look for another phone.
I like big battery phones, there are others to chose from (though not with an 855).

B&H posted a July 15th preorder date for the U.S. version then immediately took it down over the weekend that's the latest I've seen. We will have to see what happens in a few weeks I'm tired of waiting too

I dont think anyone will get review units until next week.
Probably friday they will get them.
After the release

They will get review units at the event next week but they will not be able to upload review videos and thoughts until 2 to 3 days before consumers will have them in hand.

The initial hands on videos just after the event, full reviews a day or two before the phone is officially released.

I think we will see initial impression & unboxing videos uploaded as soon as the device is launched..some reviewers like Supersaf in UK have posted pics where they are hiding the device with their hands while posing for the pics..
