Hey guys,
I purchased a PX5 unit from aliexpress - search for "android 997 8 inch" and you'll see my unit (newbie, cant post links yet).
The issue I'm having is the Wifi will not let me toggle it on in the settings menu. The MAC address is reading as 02:00:00:00:00:00, which indicates its not really interfacing with the hardware to me.
Bluetooth works though, as does GPS (can't load maps though, no internet...).
I've tried:
*MCU version was 2.72_3, I upgraded to 2.78 and saw no change. Reverted back.
*Refreshing network settings
*Re-loading the ROM, provided by vendor
In addition, I'm getting an error on startup, "android.microtek.canbus" failed to post notification on channel null. See log for details". Also a fair amount of white noise from the unit.
I'm ordering a wifi USB dongle and will try that out, but does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issue? Maybe factory reset? Maybe motherboard is broken?

Hi, same problem here, did you manage to solve it?
Thanks

Frenky,
I had to buy a USB wifi/bluetooth dongle! It works great now though. I bought this one from Amazon, search for "Wireless WiFi Bluetooth Adapter, USB WiFi Dongle Network Adapter 150Mbps & Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver(External Antenna) for Desktop/Laptop/PC, Supports Windows 7/8/8.1/10/XP/Vista"
Try going into Factory Settings (password: 126) change CANBUS setting to your CANBUS or car make. Also make sure WiFi is on in factory settings.
Did you solve your white noise issue? How about the CANBUS issue? I am experiencing both of these issues. Thanks.
you have found a solution=?
My solution to the white noise was return it.
Sorry but nothing fixed the issue and I tried everything I could find on the net.
Installed a kenwood android unit and no more white noise or any other issues.
no wifi...
mac address 02:00:00:00:00:00 ....
tryed with stock rom 8.0 , malaysk rom 8.0, hal9k 8.0 .. no working..
downgraded to android 6, loaded malaisk 6.0 .... nothing.. wifi still not working with the same mac address .. 02:00:00:00:00:00 ..

Hi,
Since a few days im a proud owner of a HTC desire.
On this device i am trying to connect my bluetooth OBD2 car diagnose device.
Unfortunatly i cannot get it working.
What i did was search for the device in bluetooth settings, pair it with the phone (The bluetooth device says paired, but disconnected), and change the settings in the obd2 app to make sure it uses the device ( i tried torque and obd2 reader). This will result in the following bluetooth error :

The previous phone i had was a touch pro 2 running Windows mobile. I managed to use the diagnose device on this phone for a while without any issues.
What i am thinking is that i maybe miss out on a step on the android phone to get it working. This is because on my windows mobile phone i had to setup a serial port first. Could this be different in android, or am i doing something wrong?
Any help is welcome!
Anyone with ideas ?
Thanks alot!
do you need the software on the phone to run the obd2 connector? do they have that software available or is it just for data logging? the connection is there but there is no software calling for the data connection.
good luck. hopefully. the manufacturer developes or ports their software to Android
Yes you need to software to communicate with the obd2 bluetooth connector. You pair it with the phone, and then need to software to get the info.
There are currently 2 apps available, but they both fail to work. I thought it could maybe be a bug in android, but i can't seem to find any info about it.
I also expected i could have made a mistake while pairing the device to the phone, since i am only using android for a few weeks
it should be working, the only thing is that further down the debug the bluetooth stack blows up inside a native method

I'm itching to see what the UUIDs your bluetooth device advertises
Hey ! we have spoken through email
Im trying to see how i can get the UUID of the device. I tried it with my ubuntu laptop, but couldnt find it yet.
Im using the same bluetooth device as listed on the torque website, the one with the blue sticker on the side
I have bonded the adapter with my laptop. Then setup Serial port.
I did not manage to get the UUID yet, is the info below helpfull?

Yep thats fine on the bluetooth info, this is looking like a bug in androids handling of bluetooth, and it's a weird one at that.
Is your firmware a completley stock ROM for the phone? You haven't put a modified ROM onto it?
Well good to hear you at least know what is wrong.
My rom is a stock rom. This is the info from settings, software information :
Firmwareversion :
2.1-update1
Smallbandversion :
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
Kernelversion :
2.6.29-97da29ed

Build number :
1.14.405.4 CL144070 release keys
Software number :
1.15.405.4
Browserversion :
WebKit 3.1
The phone's model number is HTC Desire A8181
Do you know what the bug consists of?
Thanks again !
Sorry, I haven't replied earlier, been busy for a few days.
It's looking very much like a bluetooth stack issue on the HTC Desire. Googling a reveals a couple more grumblings with the desires bluetooth stack but nothing concrete. Unfortunately I haven't got one of the devices directly to play with to verify my assumption, so fixing it is probably not going to happen (if I am able to work around the bug at all!).
Unfortunately I'll have to say you're out of luck /for the moment/, if one of my friends aquires one (or I can reproduce it on my Nexus one if/whenever Google/Brightpoint decide to deliver it!) then I will try to reproduce the fault and to get it to work for you (from my point of view I want this to work with as many devices/vehicles as possible!!)
Ian
Is there anything i can help you with? as i also really like to use this app.
If you provide me with things to check, gather or investigate i would be happy to do so!

I've been a android user since Sept '09 (G1/Dream) and now I recently got my X10.
I've had a Nokia 770,800, and now N810. I used a application called 'Carman' which would read a OBD2 Bluetooth unit which was connected in my car. I would simply plug it into the port under my steering wheel and it would show up easily on my Nokia. The software worked great.
There is code available, and the website for carman is: http://openbossa.indt.org/carman/
The bluetooth unit I got was this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16921 (although mine is orange, got mine back in Dec '08)
It would be great to see this being ported over to Android. Hopefully this is helpful!

Hello!
Are there any known issues with Android and bt devices? I can't seem to get my desire and a bt obd reader to pair, the phone doesn't even see it.

yeah i've been searching for awhile and apparently HTC broke the stock bluetooth stack with some kind of proprietary settings that makes most advanced functions not work (HID, SPP, etc) it appears if you use a rom thats not sense based (like cyanogenmod) then the profiles work
Hi community.
This is my first post, so please be nice. I just got my first Headunit and i am having some trouble. It´s an Xtrons TE706PL (MTCE Oreo).
The first problem is WIFI. When starting the connection is always good. But after a few minutes of inactivity its is going down to nearly nothing. In this moment the head unit is on my desk only two meters distance to my router and it gives me only 0.5mbit/sec.
The second problem is USB and SD. I cannot see any pluged in devices in USB or SD-Card slot. The File Manager does not detect them. Only with ES File Explorer I can see the devices pluged in USB and use the files. SD-Slot seemes to be completely dead. But this cannot be right, can it?
So please help me. Did I get a defective Headunit, should I send it back? Or is the software so buggy and I should try another software?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: If I don´t connect with Bluetooth the Wifi seems to work. Strange!

Probably you have a md725 bt module (is a rtl8723 wifi+bt chip) that some guys reported to be interfering bt and Wi-Fi signals.
(Check which bt module is set up on factory settings)
Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk
The factory settings say: WQ_BC6
Maybe it would help to use a seperate bt/wifi dongle.
Some people here seem to be successful with the Comfast CF-WU725B.
I have update my mtce px3 Android 7.1 MTCE with a px5 Android 6 and charged malaysk rom based on Android 8.0... but afther that i can’t turn ON my Wi-Fi. Bluetooth working perfect... all the thing working good.. only Wi-Fi don’t wont to turn on. if i try to start a wifi hotspot i get an error
Thanks to the people who can help me ?
edit:
I solved my problem by buying a new px5 upgrade kit, with preinstalled oreo 8.0 .. now before working on this new px5 I will try to install the same rom (provided you find it) on the previous px5, and I will update you on the result
Does your usb port(s) also stoped working?
Which MCU version are you running?
Did you preform a full wipe after flashing?
What are your current factory settings? Are those correct for your board?
Can you provide a logcat?

Full wipe before and after flashing the rom, cache wipe, i’ve Made a reset from the setting mod in car related...
How i can Made a logcat? Can you tel me how i hate to do!? Thanks
Any one can help me? Any suggestion?
Lets see if we can find out why it is not working use this app to email yourself a full logcat:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog
Secondly do you want to connect your hu to the internet through wifi. Or do you have a sim in your hu and do you want to share the data inside the car.
If it is the first you should only turn on wifi, if it is the second you should turn wifi off an only tetering on. On most wifi chips these functions can not be used simultainiously.
I suspect you need to select the right wifi chip in factory settings for the wifi to work after the board swap and mcu update.

May this can help you. With Oreo some head untis doesn't awake the internal usb-hub ...
But:
Hal9k: If you have a Bluetooth module MD725 type 2, it will not work in Android 8, although Android 6 works.
The reason is that from Android 8 its driver was removed.
How do you know if you have such a module?
On the first page of the factory settings in the BT item, MD725
The command getprop bt.md725.type, executed in the terminal, answers "2"

I tried the method you suggested but unfortunately for me it does not work .. it seems that the px5 does not want to know to communicate with the wifi module ... I understand that my head unit is equipped with a wifi chip
REALTEK RTL8188ETV
if I go in
"CAR RELATED SETTING" then on factory setting
TO THE BLUETOOTH MODULE I see:
WQ_BC5
DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IT DOES NOT WORK, IF REINSTALLING THE PX3 WORKS ALL CORRECTLY, WHILE WITH THE PX5 THE WIFI CONTINUES NOT TO BE ACTIVATED
I tried them all now and I still have the px3 that works properly including wi-fi while If I install the PX5 there is no way to make the wi-fi work .. it seems that I do not see the form and I can not understand why. I also noticed that on the px5 is missing the file system / bin / sdsdk.bin, I tried to copy it from my px3 but without results ... (I simply copied the file, doing nothing else) Someone can help me Thanks
I got the same error. Today I got a new px5 board from the seller. Problem is I desoldered the internal wifi chip and an external USB wifi dongle doesn't work. Later in I'll try to resolder the original chip and see if it works. If it works then, there seems to be a problem with the px5 board. When I got the unit new everything worked flawlessly after 3 month it began to turn off the wifi sometimes, but it could be turned back on. Some time later it was totally dead. Turning on didn't worked at all
Quick Update: Soldered the Wifi Module back into it's place. Still Wifi can't be turned on. It's really frustrating.

I am facing similar problem. Here is the youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysQYn9B-a-Y
Tried a lot of things to fix this thing, ended up updating firmware to "[ROM][PX3][RK3188][Nougat][7.1.2] Hal9k ROM 2 for ALL RK3188/PX3 MTCD/E head units" but nothing fixed problem.
Solved !!!
I bought another px5 with pre-installed Android 8 ... and with this everything works !!! including Wi-Fi???? now I'll try to find the rom that is installed on this px5 and install it on the other ... let's see how it goes
Just installed this unit amazon link
Now that everything is connected I have several problems
- play store won't download any apps
- dab+ app stuck on connecting
I am able to browse internet on it, so it doesn't have internet connection issues.
I didnt properly check the internet over bluetooth, but this should work with Bluetooth 5 right?
Anyone with any info on these issues, much appreciated.
--- update
for this car I changed the unit to a different one (better fit)
now tested this unit at home, play store works. Maps is bad because of the resolution (status bar is taking off a bit ofscreen) so have to change it so that bar goes away.

I have contacted them, no word yet. Just asking here if someone has experience with issues such as these.

also told me to get the dab+ box, which I obviously have and mentioned in the message to them.
Hi all,
First, thank you for all the job everyone does here. I'm new to this forum, so I hope I am posting in the right category and I respect the post format.
I am posting here because I recently bought a Junsun V1 (non pro) for my Mazda 2 on Aliexpress, but after one week of back and fourth with their support chat, I am unable to use Carplay over USB (not even talking about wireless).
First, I wasn't even seeing their "phonelink" app icon, which is needed to use Carplay over USB. After some exchanges with the support, they suggested me to "show" the icon using the secret menu 8888 beucase it was apparently hidden by default. And indeed, it was. So I was able to get the icon to show on the home screen, but every time I tried to open it, it would show "loading..." for ~15 seconds then close itself without saying anything.
I am using the original 4-pin USB cable, and also tried with the 6-pin one, without success. I also tried several lightning cables, and even with another iPhone (but my actual phone can use carplay in another car which had built in) but I can't manage to get it working. I have tried messing with the advanced USB settings, enabling carplay in the "engineer menu" (code 8877) enabling debug, but nothing works. I have also tried doing a factory reset, and the Junsun support sent me a firmware update, which didn't solve the problem.
I have found this post on XDA Developers of somebody mentioning the same kind of issue, but they seem to have fixed it by doing a factory reset, but in my case that didn't change anything.
I'm a little desperate to find a solution to this problem and even wonder if my unit doesn't have the necessary hardware to run CarPlay as apparently, the non-pro Junsun V1 didn't support it previously.
that's why I came to see if anyone has already had or seen this problem and would have a possible solution to give me. Otherwise I will turn to buying an external CarPlay dongle.
Thanks in advance and best regards !
Is it an MTCD type device, post Android system info with MCU version.
Don't hope, have a read through the forums.
