Hello xda,
Today I'll guide you how to Unlock/Recover your data in private mode if you forgot it's authentication.
Before proceeding: I'm not responsible for any damage to your device or data.
Pre-Requirements:
1. Rooted Device (If you have enough knowledge of adb, you may go with adb instead of root)
2. Root Explorer installed.
Let's Get Started:
1. In your Device, when you try to turn on 'Private Mode' , What does it ask for?
a. If it asks for pattern , Download this file
b. If it asks for PIN (Only numeric keys shown), Download this file
c. If it asks for Password, Download this fileIf you are not sure what to download, download all 3 files given above.
2. Copy the downloaded file(s) to your phone.
3. Open 'Root Explorer' , Navigate to data/system/
4. Copy the file(s) downloaded from above in this directory (data/system/) , If it asks, Tap 'Replace'
5. Long Press the file you just pasted here, Tap 'Permissions' Check only 'Read' and 'Write' of Owner. So that it looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Tap 'Ok'.
6. Reboot Device.
7. Un-Root your phone. [This is not compulsory but some phones cause problems if you don't unroot]. Thanks to iderayoub for useful point.
8. When it reboots, try to turn on 'Private Mode', Enter PIN: 1234 / Password: xda123 , Pattern: See this Image
Now, you may change the PIN/Password/Pattern anytime. ___________________ [Try to Smash the Thanks Button Below :fingers-crossed:]
It works!
For reference, the contents of that /data/system/personalpin.key file should be:
FA6C0E1B2B0581C2F359B8923F2FA7164B21CC7E
I had to really reboot and close Gallery before my "Private" Album came back, but it eventually did.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that, BTW, Was it necessary to close the gallery after rebooting?
I mean, Just a reboot was not enough to bring the Private Mode back?
Can you provide instructions for ADB please?
Also, doesn't rooting the phone trip Knox, which disables private mode? Would this method still work if rooting disables private mode?
Which rooting method would you recommend that does not factory reset / wipe data?
Will this work on G935V with Android 6.0.1?
Please respond with whatever you know, even if you don't know all the answers to all these questions, thanks in advance!

Google it: "How to push files using adb". So, You just need to push your relevant file (i.e. PIN/Pattern/Password) to /data/system.

I can't say a word as I never had a Knox-powered phone and never tried it. So If going to root, Proceed on your own risk.
(If you ask about my opinion, I don't think that you will lose your data which is in Private Mode).

Here is the page where you can download the rooting files for your device: (Only for G935V). This method doesn't factory reset / wipe data. I've tried it 50+ times. If you don't know how to use these files. Google it "How to root using AutoRoot". Good Day!

Did you copy exactly the personalpattern.key file and pasted it in data/system/ as mentioned?
P.S. Don't forget to reboot after placing the file in data/system/.

Sasmsung s5 neo adb enabling by boot.img/Pattern forgot
Hey I already asked this on another thread but this might help me better:
Hi I am locked out of my galaxy s5 neo because of my stupidness. (guess what happend...) While changing the pattern I received a call and answered it. I then talk to the person for about 5 min. I leave my phone for 30 mins then I comeback and forgot my pattern. So far usb debugging is not on and oem is locked. A way to get in my phone would be to enable bluetooth since I have a trusted device that I can unlock my phone with. Something I also tried is taking the boot.img of my device and manually enabling the adb by editing default.prop in ramdisk. Only problem is when I repack it, it is detected as a custom binary wich is weird because it's the original one for my device. Anyway out of ideas, and I can't upload twrp or any custom rom either (unless there's a bypass that I don't know). Thx in advance.
Send from my browser since my phone is locked otherwise my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo (SM-G903W/Canada) with stock android 7.0.

So, The point is: You don't want to lose your data, otherwise you'd just have resetted it. Right?
If yes, You can copy your data using adb pull command If you have authorised any computer in usb debugging. And then Reset it?

Thanks for reporting!
1. Please don't quote such a long post, Simply "Reply".
2. Some other users of S7 have reported it not to be working for them, As I don't have S7 , I'll try to test this on someone's phone if he agrees.
It will take a maximum of 1 week.
Then I'll update. Now it's up to you if you can wait.
Ok
Thank you. Waiting you.
Private mode failed to turn on
Galaxy S7 edge cannot access private mode. It allows me to enter the correct pattern and then says,"Failed to turn on private mode. Try again"
As I said before İ forgot password then backed up with titanium and deleted private mode. Then tried to restore with app only choice. Titanium couldn't manage to restore. Restarted phone. Then it started to work, remembered forgetten password then changed it to pattern. As far as I remember I managed to enter to the private mode once or twice. But now gives this error. I think no way except to resetting phone.
+1 but with PIN

Rename File in Android 7.x.x
I was try your way but doesn't work so in android 7.xx and may be higher you must remove all locksettings.db in /data/system and then rename getkeeper.password.key for password getkeeper.pin.key for pin and getkeeper.pattern.key for pattern.
REBOOT NEED
after reboot and open private mode or even applock mode(remove applock.key) you must force stop Gallery!
Note:before proceed remove all getkeeper.xxx.key files in /data/system

ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS FROM HERE ON WE WILL ATTEMPT TO SEE WHAT CAN BE FIXED BUT DO TAKE NOTE THAT BRINGING IT TO A SERVICE CENTER AFTER MODIFYING ANYTHING AND THEY WILL TELL YOU THE PHONE NEEDS A NEW MOTHERBOARD FOR THE PRICE OF A NEW C3. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, SO TAKE EXTRA CAUTION
Hi everyone, this is a general thread for those wishing to break into your new C3 device now that a window has opened in terms of firmware.
Be advised, Sony has stated there will be no rear camera fix and no Marshmallow for the C3
This guide will assume your bootloader is unlocked, if you do not have any idea what it means or how to get about it, you must divert your attention HERE for a bit. Use that link for know-how to unlock your bootloader, and only proceed after successful unlocking. For bootloader codes, select the Z3 Compact as your device, because it shares the same unlock key generation algorithm.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, first thing's first, let’s get root + custom recovery. This is important, because people have been recommending KingRoot and as far as I'm concerned that is the most asinine way to provide system privileges. You wouldn't believe the pain I endured just to remove it and install SuperSU, which is far more reliable. Anyone who wishes to disagree or feels offended by this preference may kindly sod off, no offence.
STOP!
This section is only for Lollipop 5.1 firmwares, anything else and we can't guarantee safety.
Now that you read the warning, let's continue with recovery.
Head HERE for the D2533 files, and HERE for the D2502/D2503 files.
D2533:
1. If you want root as well, get SuperSU and copy it to your SD (Internal/External)
2. Unzip the .zip archive, this contains everything you need.
3. Turn off your phone and plug it into your PC/Laptop while holding the VOLUME DOWN button. It will install a driver first.
4. Double-click the .bat file in the folder of the extracted archive.
5. Read and accept the T’s&C’s
6. The recovery will now install XZDR. When your phone reboots, hold VOLUME DOWN. The green LED should turn PURPLE.
7. You will now be in TWRP recovery. At this point, you can install SuperSU, Custom ROMs, or anything you may otherwise want.
8. Once done, reboot your phone.
D2502/D2503:
1. You need these files first. If you want root, get SuperSU as well.
2. Add the .img file into your fastboot folder.
3. Now, turn off your phone and plug it into your PC/Laptop while holding the VOLUME DOWN button. It will install a driver first.
4. Right-click the space inside the folder while holding SHIFT then click 'Open Command Window Here'
5. You will see a command prompt window so just type
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. It will send the .img files and let you know when done
7. Now type
Code:
fastboot reboot
to reboot your phone
8. When your phone turns on, a green LED will light up. Hold VOLUME DOWN, the LED should turn PURPLE.
9. You will now be in TWRP recovery. At this point, you can install SuperSU, Custom ROMs, or anything you may otherwise want.
10. Once done, reboot your phone.
Soooo, what now?
If you are a dev or would like to become a dev for this device, head HERE to restart CM12.1 development.
Come to THIS THREAD for information on deodexing your device and give it a fresh look. This is a relatively new development so be patient and check in once in a while for forum news.
Check out the custom stock kernel for the 5.1.1 stock ROM here.
In addition, with a recovery you can now instant reinstall your system for your D2533 or D2502 via zip flashing without adding root and recovery all over again.
Did you know that our phone is missing the Bravia Engine? Yes, a Sony without Sony's best feature. Fortunately it can be fixed, with your recovery just download and flash the files provided in this thread.
This thread is a work in progress, any questions are welcome. It is encouraged and we'll try our best to help so anyone can learn on what to do and what to improve.

Upgrading and downgrading your firmwares
Warning:
Code:
Your bootloader must be unlocked.
Doing this has the potential to brick your device if not careful.
All your data and settings will be wiped as well.
So now you realise you prefer the simpler and uglier KitKat version, or miss the horrible camera in Lollipop 5.0, or you just want to use the weirdo Lollipop 5.1 for the LOLZ.
This is simple enough but will require some a lot of internet bandwidth so be prepared.
Download Xperifirm and find your phone model, it will tell you what are the available firmwares you can download for your country. Just download them, remember where you place those files.
Next you will need Flashtool by Androxyde, just unpack it and install.
Running it will synchronise the updates so just wait a while for it to load. Once done, click the lightning symbol and select Flashmode.
A window will open up asking you to select firmware, which is the .ftf file you downloaded using Xperifirm a while ago.
The only options you modify is Wipe: Tick all and Exclude: Untick all. After that, click flash and it will instruct you to insert your phone.
Make sure your phone is turned off, then plug in while holding the VOLUME DOWN button.
The process will automatically start so you just have to wait until it's done then it will auto reboot and start setting up your phone like new.
Optimising your device
First off, download Kernel Adiutor and grant it root access. Open it, and look in the Build Prop Editor section.
Look for this code and edit it to this value:
Code:
ro.min_freq_0=300000
Now reboot your device, this will make your phone unlock minimum speed to save some battery.
All good?
Now, let's look at the CPU section. Set the CPU maximum frequency to 1190 and the minimum to 300, then set CPU governor to Interactive. Open up CPU Governor Tunables and edit the values according to this picture:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That completes the CPU section, now we have to edit the Kernel Samepage Merging. Go into that tab, and enable KSM. Set Page scans to 100, and Sleep to 500.
After editing each tab here, make sure you tick Apply on Boot so the settings will stay there.
This section is still under construction.
awesome!

Install TWRP XZDual
Hello. I have a Sony D2502 with 5.1.1. Used Kingroot to root my phone so I can disable annoying Sony Bloatwares and without having to unlock the bootloader. So I am not sure if bootloader got unlocked as well. I have 3 concerns and would to ask for your assistance and proficiency.
1. Is possible to install TWRP with a locked bootloader? If so, how? I'd like to request for the procedure without the android tech jargons.
2. If it can't be done, what is my contingency plan in installing twrp without having to reformat my phone.
3. Tried several methods on how to enter default/stock recovery mode on my Sony D2502. Tried, press and hold Volume Down and Power, Volume Up and Power, Pressed All 3 at the same, it only vibrates. No problem with rebooting to safe mode and normal mode. How do I enter the stock android/experia recovery mode?

1. I think it's possible with the T2U Dualrecovery, it contains TWRP already. I was perturbed at first about android lingo as well, but most guides are simplified enough and there will be people who are willing to answer your questions.
2. You can use the guide you found in the nut-xperiafiles website. Other than that, there's no other way.
3. The C3 does not come with a stock recovery. Sony hates anything that isn't their flagship phone.
T2U-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip <--- Is this the correct/compatible release for Sony D2502? If so, I would like to write down the steps as I understand them:
1. Extract Zip file and Run .bat file
2. Connect Phone, with USB Debugging Enabled. (Should the phone be turned off or leave it on?)
3. Select 1 from the CMD Menu? Follow the process and it will reboot for the first time to TWRP?

Kingroot will stay until you do a full reinstall or brute force uninstall. It would be better to just do a full wipe, and flash the prerooted stock roms instead. Just make sure to backup any apps you might have.

I was able o install XZDUAL easily but had to install SUPERSU with a different approach though. KINGROOT was blocking it somehow. Hello Autumn.
Based on your snapshot below, is this a balanced setting? if so, then i'd most likely replicate this. I'd like to make some speed improvements while having stability at the same time. thanks

Kingroot Leftovers
Hello Autumn, after fiddling around with my settings, came across CPU Processes and ran into KINGRot. I am all set, I have XZDUAL, SuperSU. Everything is running great except having the remnants of Kingroot. Please see attached file. How can delete this? Is it safe without bricking my phone? If so, how?
Caution when modifying your phone, although you can revert 99% of issues you may come across, be cautious.
I take no credit other than compiling info and making a guide. All credit goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4911585 (br3w3r, Chainfire and Princecomsy)

Well, root has been achieved on all of the variants. All the information is spread, therefore I will compile it.
It is confirmed working for the G935T/A/ (All firmwares so far) can anyone verify it works for Verizon?

MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR PHONE, YOU MAY NEED TO FACTORY RESET AFTER FLASHING THE ENGBOOT FILE. ( MAY BE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DISABLED SYSTEM APPS)
1- Put your device in to download mode ( Power off--- Hold Down arrow + Home + Power button)
2-Open the provided ODIN and where it says "AP" select and open the file "Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR" -- FLASH it--
3- The phone should now reboot
Installing SuperSU
easiest way to put it for flashing su.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLvRuzQMPLk
1- make sure you have the adb toolkit installed( place it in the root of the "C:/" drive. Mine is "C:/adb"
2- place the superuser folder you downloaded in to c:/adb and rename it "super" to make things easier
3- open the command prompt. Either search for it or press windows key + r and type in "cmd"
4- once cmd is open, navigate to the "super" folder. To do so type cd c:/ , then type cd adb and finally type cd super
5- type in root.bat
You should now be rooted.
To remove the security warning, use a package disabler like titanium backup and disable SecurityLogAgent
NOTE
For those having lag, heat, and battery drain issues. Try doing this.
I had those issues on PD6.
What I did was, ODIN'd a factory PD8 file and rerooted, then I used KERNEL TOOLKIT and changed to the ONDEMAND Governor, next I increased the CPU(small cores / and large cores) to max FREQUENCY allowed and reduced the min core frequencies to the lowest setting. Be sure to apply settings on boot so they stick.
The phone is very fast now.
I disabled the KNOX packages and tmobile package.
It fixed 95% of my issues, im even running xposed
For anyone that needs the complete firmware from Sammobile:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935T/
I also attached the root files necessary in the zip file here.
BUT... you also need to unrar it. Stinking forum set the zip limit to 20MB for zip files but it zips to about 23MB.
Rar limit is 8MB but in a rar it was reduced to about 18. So... rar'ed it up, hid it in a zip.

No guts, no glory. Try it and let us know. Root hasn't been out but for a couple of hours so it's hard to know for sure. Make a backup with Smart Switch and try it out! My guess is that you shouldn't have any issue.
If anyone has disabled any of their apps, make sure you re-enable them.
If you get stuck at the white T-Mobile screen for longer than 5 minutes then reboot back to stock recovery and factory reset. Sucks... but some of us had to do it. Afterwards, it should boot fine.
By the way... HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

Switch your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge completely.
Boot into Galaxy S7 recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power keys at the same time.
Release all three buttons when Samsung Galaxy S7 screen flickers and you see a warning sign.
Press Volume Up to continue to the main screen of Recovery mode. Or, press Volume Down if you aren’t sure and want to go back to the normal mode.
That’s just about it!

Yes, specifically the root.bat is Windows based, but you could read the .bat and figure out how to do it in linux. Either way, yes.
Worked flawlessly with the guide. Thanks for compiling it
Edit/Update:
I am getting the same lag that others have reported previously. One thing I'm seeing that stands out in logcat is Secure Storage Daemon throwing warnings and then an error "Kernal binary has been changed. Please use the same version of platform/kernel binaries"

If you follow the guide, you'll have everything you need and there wouldn't be any questions needed.
I guess more specific to ask, where are you getting hung up?
On a windows machine:
Download all the files listed and get them installed
Follow the instructions (boot phone into download mode, put adb folder into c:\, rename the SuperSU folder from the zip archive to "super" for easy access, execute the cd's and then execute root.bat)

It's in the guide.
Please just read the guide and understand it before you move forward. Ask what you don't understand from the guide so that the writer could make it more clear if it's needed. But what you just asked is literally written clearly with what to do.

Requirements
-----------------
1. A phone That cant be unlocked witha your Pin/Pattern
2.Any custom recovery installed(TWRP i will say)..Get TWRP from https://twrp.me/Devices/
Steps
-------
1.Once You installed twrp boot into recovery mode.
2.Go to advanced>filemanager to acces the files in your phone.
3.Ggo to the /data/system folder. Scroll down and find the two files with the .key extension. Delete both of them (by tapping on the file and then tapping the Delete button). Then, delete all the files containing the word locksettings.
password.key
pattern.key
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
Once youve deleted all the key and locksettings files, reboot your system. If it asks you to install SuperSU, choose Do Not Install.
Once Android starts, your lock screen should appear, with no PIN or password prompt. Unlock your phone (yay!) :highfive: :fingers-crossed: and head to Androids Settings. Scroll down and go to Security > Screen Lock. From there, you can choose a new PIN or password to lock your phone.

Dirty flash the ROM again..
Basically problem with the ROM..All we do according to this thread is delete the file containing lock settings....See whether problem remains after dirty flashing
dirty flash doen't work
when I delete only:
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
I can get in again, but I can't set a new lockscreen...
when I delete also:
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
I can't get in anymore...
only wiping data, cache and dalvik works (clean flash)
-
could this be a problem with system profile settings?
(disable lockscreen when wifi is connected)

Nope I don't guess so...didn't faced a problem like this..I would say report it to original developer of ROM ... I tried this method on almost 8 ROMs and all went well
I'm guessing that this works for Nougat? My son locked himself out of his G4 Plus.... This will be our last hope.

I have a similar but different issue. After restoring my nandroid backup with TWRP, I now get a "Your phone is encrypted" lockscreen at boot. My passcode works, but my data partition had supposedly always been encrypted - and only after the restore have I gotten the lockscreen at boot. Any ideas what caused this?

I seriously applaud you for finding this and sharing it with the community. I have run into this before and had a difficult time finding an answer to this issue. In the past I was forced to do a wipe and start over. Obviously that's extremely tedious and inconvenient. I found some things online similar to your guide, but they didn't work for me. Your solution worked perfectly! I can't thank you enough!
The ONLY difference on my phone from what you posted is the password.key and patter.key files had a prefix "gatekeeper". In other words:
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key

this guy is a legend
can i paytm on your number i just got my whole ****ty data back as it was
thank you very much , working with RR 7.1.2
Guys, please check your phone version before downloading the toolkit - dont use 2.19 toolkit on 2.21 phone-version! I don't know why everyone is killing their phone right now! This is not an easy-to-do tutorial! It requires time and at least a bit knowledge. Please read this carefully - use google for the most important words and start after understanding everything! I won't help via PM when you 'bricked' your phone!
Welcome to the WIP Tutorial "How to use GApps on the Nubia X"!
Keep in mind this is a workaround and should not be the official way in how to do it! Im not taking any responsibility if anything goes horribly wrong
Understood? Let's go then!
STEP 1 - Preparation
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
We need to prepare the phone now.
Note: This is mandatory for the rest to work
Unlock the Developer options by going to Settings ►About phone ►Rapidly tapping on the "Build number" field until the phone returns "You are an developer".
Go to Settings ► Other system settings ►Developer options - and change the state of "OEM Unlocking" to ON.
Again in Settings ► Other system settings ►Developer options enable "USB Debugging"
Now, you need to prepare your PC (in short: install adb). Please Google this on your own ("How to install adb on {your OS}").
Alright, we are done with the phone for now.
Let's go to the downloads!
STEP 2 - Downloads
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
nubia-root-toolkit V211 (Actually the magic behind everything). Source: 百度云, pw: 7m9s - by 绯色玻璃
nubia-root-toolkit V219 (Actually the magic behind everything). Source: 百度云, pw: 7m9s - by 绯色玻璃
Link2SD (in order to convert to system later)
GoogleFrameworkInstaller
Great job so far.
Now, we can start doing dev-things !
STEP 3 - Let the magic happen! (ROOT)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Note: this is the part where we change system files. Please continue at your own risk! If you don't know what a root is you should better not do that.
Note: I don't own this toolkit. The source is linked above. I would recommend translating the original page source and reading throgh it. Source
Alrighty then? Damn, ur edgy.
Plug in your phone and wait until it gets recognized by your OS.
Extract the "nubia-root.zip", go into nubia-Root ► nubia-X, and run the "nubia-X_Root-V211.exe" with admin priv.
We don't understand nothing, because it is a chinese source... But according to the original thread, close (X) the first window that appears.
You will now see a window with "(Random text) ROOT"-Button on the right. After you click it, you'll get a log output of what your phone is doing via ADB.
Finished? You will see "Success" at the bottom including some weird characters. Lmao #chineseprograms.
What happened right now?
Well your phone is rooted. The program archived this by flashing a partition on your phone with adb.
First, it unlocked it (see my dev thread for more infos) and after that it flashed the bootimage. In short.
Now boot back into your phone and continue your journey!
STEP 4 - Installing apks on the phone
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Remember all these apk's you have downloaded before?
We are going to use them now.
Make sure your phone is still plugged in. We are using 'adb' now so open up a command-prompt / powershell / bash.
The syntax is the following: "adb install NameOfTheFile.apk" - do this with every downloaded apk. Example: "adb install /home/user/link2sd.apk".
STEP 5 - Install GApps
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Now the fun part.
We are going to install the required Google Apps as a normal user.
IMPORTANT: Don't run any of the Google Apps after you see them on your phone. I know you are hyped but its not time to do this right now.
Run the App called "谷歌安装器" (or the app with a playstore-like symbol). You will see a screen with chinese text and a blue button.
Click the blue button - the app will now download every GApp you need. After every download you will be prompted to install the app - confirm this and deny any Nubia tips for "hey you can download a newer app". Just install it like a normal app.
If you encounter the "unknown source"-error, follow the instructions on the device (or google "how to enable install apps from unknown sources").
Thats it! Wohoo.
Well no.
Please restart your phone, before continue!
STEP 6 - Make GApps powerful (using Link2SD)
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Well I didn't found a better way as making the GApps System right now.
Because we don't have access to TWRP (right now ;D), this is the way to go.
I assume you have Link2SD installed (if not, go to Step 4 and install Link2SD!).
Open up Link2SD and click on the three dots located in the upper right hand corner.
Click "Search" and type in "Google". You will see a bunch of applications there but we only care about some of them.
We will use the following procedure: Click on the searchresult ► Click on the three dots ► "Convert to system app" ► Confirm. (It might be called somewhat with "system" in it, if you dont find it).
Do this procedure with the following apps: "Google Service Framework", "Google Play Store", "Google Play Service", "Google Contacts Sync", "Google Calendar Sync" and "Google Account Manager".
Done? Restart your device again. (You can do that by clicking on the side-menu of Link2SD ► Reboot ► Reboot.
Step 7 - Enjoy!
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Well, you are an official hacker now... Well not really.
But you did something which is not that easy.
If you want to learn more or if you have any questions left contact me on discord (My ID: Captain Teemo#9394).
And if you are happy with the result, consider my time writing this for you and drop me a coffee: https://paypal.me/THeckel - your awesome!
Thanks for reading and enjoy your nubia - as you want!
@Teeemoo, most of the people will do that for first time. It will be good to include:
BE SURE THAT THE PHONE VERSION MATCHES THE VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE!
The described process up it's only of v2.11. For v2.19 and up you need the corresponding tool.
If you ignore that, you risk to soft brick your phone.
1. Magisk and Xposit will be loaded on the phone - do not play at any cost with them (upgrade or stuff). That will put your phone on a boot loop. I know it form personal experience. To fix that it's a bit tricky.
2. When you start the root - be sure that your phone is unlocked. Watch it when it ask permissions.
3. Moving apps with Link2SD can be tricky as well. The app will be moved to /system partition and it's limited. Also if you promote and demote app, doesn't mean that you'll get the same space on /system again. There is option to do that, but need some expertise level.
4. Abut when the GApps to be set at system - after the reboot or before it - I'm not that sure. For me was working the option only after the root. For that reason, preload the Link2SD in advance.
5. v2.19 root reports a virus inside. If you're afraid to open it, then use a sandbox for that purpose (shade sandbox is pretty ok for that purpose).
this is awesome, thank you so much. Let's get you some coffee

Thanks for the great job :good::good::good:
Thanks for the quick reply , i did not have an update to do on the phone, i used the chinese software to root first like mentionned in the tutporial , then phone went into device corrupted ,
now im trying to install the oem firmware on the phone im trying with smart flash tool , but in the nx616j update file has no map.txt file
what can i do to reload oem software on the phone?
There are 2 versions for the software.
One of them has a single button on the right side with strange symbols and "root" in between.
The other one has 2 buttons - one is with "root" and the other "fastboot" in between.
If your phone is in boot-loop and before you do something stupid hard-core.
Reboot the phone in fastboot - long hold power, then when restarts - volume down + power.
You may need few restarts before stabilize it in fastboot.
Then use that second software and press the button which has label "fastboot" in the text.
Restart and you have to be ok
here is th escreen after root

I read but it's not so clear you mentioned something like 2 programs witch program are you referring too?. Also if you saw my picture I think the software must been reinstalled. I normally works with Samsung and having all the software to fix it but Nubia it's something new for me . Thank you very much for your help.
Br_other refers to the original Chinese link (see the tutorial there is the link somewhere).
The new tool includes a fastboot option.
Try to get the new download, otherwise I will reupload it later.
Otherwise:
Your bootloader is unlocked and a wrong bootimage was flashed.
So basically to repair you need to get into fastboot or recovery by pressing (phone must be off) volume down or up with the power button simultaneously.
If this still works you can download the official firmware, extract the boot.img out there and reflash it with ADB.
Basically adb flash boot boot.img
Hello. Thanks so much for the tutorial.
I have finished all the steps, however when I open playstore, stuck at "checking info" status. What could have I done Wong? Or missed any.
Thanks
phone is brick now
Hi guys
let me explain you whats going on with my phone ... But first i would like to thanks @Teeemoo and @br_other they've helping me a lot with my rooting issues but since then my phone is in boot loop mode and i can't use anymore I read everywhere on the net to found a solution but it's seems to not having anything works!!!! To do a short story my phone was working fine with the chinese rom but was useless without google play services. i was waiting every day for a root or global rom to flashed. Last week i receive a OTA software update version 2.19 so i did the update. 2 days ago i saw a post with all the instructions to root the phone and install the google framework with working apps in the main pages, not like the stupid sand box that was terrible to use. I followed the instruction and root the phone . After the root complete the phone reboot in bootloop mode and with no way to recovery my original software. I've posted my issues in this forum and get help from 2 member mentioned above. They told me to found the other root file with fastboot recovery it was really hard to found because the link is not active anymore but i finally found and install. I've put my phone in fast boot mode and try to recovery but i always had the same error message see the pictures attached. I decide to do more researched on the net and i found a way to install the boot loader IMG using ADB command . I try to install but i realize by making some test that my bootloader is not unlocked so i'm not able to install the image . I d'ont know what can i do now but i think i will throw my phone out the windows .......

Hi guys
let me explain you whats going on with my phone ... But first i would like to thanks @Teeemoo and @br-other they've helping me a lot with my rooting issues but since then my phone is in boot loop mode and i can't use anymore I read everywhere on the net to found a solution but it's seems to not having anything works!!!! Code:
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX616J

Because you need to replace the 'boot.img' part with the location of ur boot.img file.
If you don't have the boot image, tell me and I will extract it for you.
Cheers

Hello guys. Does anybody know when would we be able to root our beloved Flip 4? I haven't seen any thread for it. Is there something that's blocking the devs from discovering a root method? Just trying to understand.
Thanks!

Probably just need to wait for John Woo (developer of magisk) to update it for the fold and flip 4 series. You can try asking in the magisk forums if anyone knows anything.
if you can unlock the bootloader (not possible on the US versions) download the stock firmware and transfer the AP file to your phone.
then install magisk and patch the AP file, transfer back and odin flash the patched file and you should have root.

Well unfortunately I'm not that expert as to discover how to unlock bootloader myself. But I guess the expert guys could help us if they would like to.

if you can get into the development options in settings you should be able to see OEM unlock toggle but be warned if you choose it it will wipe all your data..!
1) go into settings/about phone
2) then software information tap on build number 7 times
3) go back to settings and you should see development options at the bottom
4) if the OEM unlock is there choose it and it will reboot to the bootloader screen
5) it will then ask you do you really want to unlocck it, if you choose to yes it wipe all data and you have to start from scratch re-installing everything
6) download the latest firmware and extract it to a new folder on your PC
7) copy the AP file to your phone
8) download and install the latest Magisk apk
9) in Magisk choose the top option 'install' then select patch a file
10) after patching transfer the file back to your PC (it can be found in the download file on your phone)
11) download and install Odin on your PC
12) open Odin and put the AP patched file in the AP slot and the CSC file in the CSC slot
13) after flashing and rebooted install the Magisk app again and it should confirm being rooted after Magisk reboots the phone

Wow. Are you rooted?
yes, rooted on the flip 3 but it will work on the flip 4 aswell. I know it looks quite difficult at first but it does become easier after doing it a few times

I'm not able to get past the step #3 on this phone, its locked down.
Can access recovery but the "wipe data" option is removed.
Any advice? It's a demo unit with an IMEI number I kinda got scammed into buying, trying ot figure out if its a lost cause.

unfortunately all US phones are bootloader locked
that's annoyingly unfortunate. I suppose i'm out 750 bucks, gonna file a police report if nothing else, what an uncool guy.

I own a Flip 4 from Austria and can confirm your described method works, except I had to use CSC —> CSC instead of the Home CSC, cause it didn’t boot before.
Google Wallet (ex Pay) works with Magisk Props module as well!

Sure it will. Just pay $150 and let some unknown asshole remote into your device.
This info came out today, but I have the unlocked version that I bought directly from samsung (U1) and I can confirm that I cannot "OEM Unlock" my Flip4.
Samsung uploads Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 kernel sources to the joy of ROM makers
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 are going open source:

good evening @
shreyas.kukde @jdenman03 @entropism @beanbean50 @Plazza86 @Jmoney55 @ankur079 @Philnicolls89, I have just bought the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in Europe (France) and indeed to ROOT it you have to put the Tarmd5 AP file in the AP box and the CSC file (and not Home CSC) in the CSC box to that everything works fine, when the phone restarts, you have to reinstall Magisk and everything is OK. Thanks for this tutorial, hope it helps other people.
