Prerequisites for Installation
- Must have an unlocked bootloader
- Update TWRP to Android-7.1 builds located here. Please make sure to use the recovery image which is appropriate for your device (Thor or Apollo).
Fresh Installation
- Backup your existing ROM first
- Wipe the /data partition (but you can keep the media storage)
- Flash the ROM File
- Flash Open Gapps: use an ARM 7.1 version smaller than the "full" size to make sure it fits
- Reboot
- Enjoy!
LineageOS-eXtended Downloads
LineageOS Builds for Thor (ggow)
LineageOS Builds for Apollo (ggow)
Gapps
- Open Gapps (use a size smaller than "Full" to make sure it fits)
NOTE: Here's what I do to solve the "Play Games" side load issue... Anytime I update my GApps zip file:
- I download the "full" and "mini" versions of GApps
- Extract the "GApps/playgames-arm.tar.lz" file from the "full" file and add it to the "GApps" folder of the "mini" file.
- Open the installer.sh script in the "mini" file and move the "playgames" line from the full_gapps_list= section into the mini_gapps_list= section
- I use this modified "mini" .zip when flashing CM-14.1 ROMs so that my Play Games install always works.

I tried to delete the LineageOMS DevDB thread but it doesn't seem to have worked.
@Moscow Desire or @Darth
Would you mind deleting the following threads, they were created in error. I was experiencing a problem when creating this thread that is looked like a failure but in fact multiple were created unbeknown to me.
Here is a list of threads which need deleting:

Responding here as this is the core thread. See feature list in OP. In a nutshell minor UI tweaks and theming support. For general use suggest sticking with 'regular' Lineage. At least until this build gets some further feedback/testing.

Will the original LineageOS be developed further or is this a complete switch to LineageOS-eXtended?
Best regards
Matthias

Give it a try, it should be fine, I'd be very surprised if it didn't work

This is an additional build option not a replacement for the original. You can always assume there will be further builds. I will announce if otherwise.

So over there https://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/orig-development/rom-cm-14-1-thor-t3517481 I can hope for updates?
As far as I see from the feature list, the eXtended build mostly adds fancy stuff, no functional improvements. As I'm happy with the not-eXtended build I would stay with it.
(I still use the tablet mostly for kindle reading, just with the up to date app. So I do not need much fancy around this.)
Best regards (and thanks for the great job of keeping this great device alive!)
Matthias

Thanks you very much! I like your roms very much! You roms is too good!!!
Thanks you very much! I like your roms very much! You roms is too good!!!
BUT it's bluetooth is not work? I t think I need it ,thanks

Just put this one on, since I wanted OMS support, and all is great so far. Also donated because I appreciate the work. Thanks again, ggow!

Does this ROM support 4G LTE? I have the LTE version of Thor, and I'm looking to upgrade my ROM.

Likely not. Data/LTE support is only available in KitKat based ROMs.

Could we get an up to date build of this ROM? I can donate to support if necessary.

[ROM + KERNEL][2017-12-03] AOSPA Extended 7.4.0 [UNIFIED] Oneplus 3(T)

AOSPA Extended
#Be Extended
Code:
/*
* Your warranty is now void?
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

*/
This ROM was created specifically with my kind of people in mind. When I used AOSP Extended,
I fell in love with it's balance of quantity and quality, neither it was crammed like RR and nor was it super stock like AOSPA. So I decided to take AOSPA as a base and make it's EXTENDED version with all the cherry-picked features that I would have loved to have in AOSPA in the first place. This is the outcome. There are still a couple of features left out. But everything else is working as expected.
It has got all the features that official AOSPA has but now more and better. Here is the list::
- Inbuilt screen stabilizer(accessible from QS tiles)
- XOSP blur personilazations + Full notification Blur + Lockscreen blur
- In-call vibration options
- Statusbar clock and date customizations
- Statusbar network traffic
- Recents UI FAB addition
- Recents UI memory display bar
- Battery Bar
- Alert Slider customisations(fully customizable)
- Improved pocket lock
- Unlink notification volume
- Variable Lockscreen pattern size
- Safe headset volume toggle
- Fixed battery qs tile not getting themed properly on white themes
- Add signature spoofing
- Add toggle for DoNotDisturb in-call
- Update to latest oneplus display callibration.
- Added "kill app" option in list in buttons settings. Can be mapped to any button. (screenshot)
- Reverted back to the old boot animation as I personally like it.
- Added modded GCam app with HDR+, 120fps Slow-mo working, 60fps 1080p working, and far superior quality in low light (here v1.5)
Custom kernel included:-
- Full sound control
- Boeffla Wakelock control
- More to explore

Useful Links::
OpenGApps (pico recommended)
Magisk SU(You can use any SU package you want)
Install Instructions::
1. Flash AOSPA Extended zip
2. Flash Gapps zip
3. Flash root package of your choice (optional)**
4. Reboot System
NOTE1: This ROM is not pre-rooted.
NOTE3: This ROM has all the features official AOSPA has(some tweaked a little), and also their Custom Camera HAL.

Info on screen stabilizer and screenshots
Have you tried to read a book or an article like this while on a bus or walking down the street? I bet you tried! In this case you should notice that reading text in a such way is not a good idea since the screen constantly shakes. It seems that screen shaking is a big enough issue and eliminating it can promise a good UX. This application uses the device accelerometer sensors to compensate for and smooth out screen content shaking in the same way as DSLR camera stabilizes its sensors/lenses
Parameter Details:
1] Velocity Friction : It is used to adjust the friction of the movement of the screen when walking. If the value is greater, the screen translation will be slower.
2] Position Friction : It is used to adjust the speed at which the screen tries to adjust to the normal position. If the value is greater, it takes more time to adjust to normal position
3] Velocity Amplification : It is used to amplify the calculated velocity and use it to translate the screen

See, this ROM's base is AOSPA, so itinherits all the AOSPA bugs as well unless I have fixed them separately. As for the random reboot, haven't gotten any for about 3 days. I shifted from f2fs to ext4.

If the initial Setup Wizard crashes, use JT1510365's Setup Wizard Fix - Google Drive.
@JT1510365 wrote about this issue in Post #58.
If you continue experiencing issues even after applying this fix, refer to the Possible Bugs paragraph below for walkarounds.
First time installation of crDroid to your Nexus 7 (2012), or new ROM instructions:
- Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (TWRP or CWM)
- Boot into Recovery by holding Down Vol- button and Power button
- Wipe System, Data and Cache partitions (Wiping Internal Storage is recommended, but you will lose any files, bookmarks, etc.!)
- If you want (recommended), you can format ONLY Data and Cache partitions to F2FS. System partition must be EXT4! (Once again, you will lose your data!) (If you use EXT4, you can run fstrim to maintain ROM.)
- Copy crDroid ZIP and openGApps ZIP and gapps-config-grouper.txt to your external SDCard or Internal Storage
- Flash crDroid ZIP
- Flash openGApps ZIP
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot
- Wait around ~ 10 minutes ~ for first boot
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
- Copy crDroid ZIP to your external SDCard or Internal Storage
- Boot into Recovery by holding Down Vol- button and Power button
- Wipe System and Cache partitions
- Flash crDroid ZIP
- Flash openGApps ZIP
- Reboot
- Wait around ~ 10 minutes ~ for first boot
Possible Bugs:
- Initial Setup screen might crash with "Setup Wizard has stopped" depending on Open Gapps or Lineage OS version. DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET step should help. Otherwise, you can skip the initial Setup screen by tapping on 4 edge points on screen starting from upper left corner clockwise. You can also "fix" this by enabling WiFi from notification bar as seen in this YouTube video.
- crDroid 7.1.2 is mostly stable, but depending on different builds and configurations, you may experience System UI crashes. A simple Reboot usually helps in this case. Rooting Grouper with SuperSU and uninstalling some unnecessary System Apps to make System partition have more space may also help.

repo sync --force-sync
. build/envsetup.sh
make clobber
brunch grouper

EDIT: Nice use of MEGA though, that is honestly my favorite file hosting site
files don't expire for a very long time
you only have to log in once a year to keep everything
its fast and stable
Good on you dev. :good:
its running really fast so far, been running it all day. I don't want to jinx it, and I hope I can keep this performance for more than a few days (only having to fstrim once a week would be nice). I'm surprised that crdroid runs better than slim 7 on the grouper.

Thanks for trying crDroid out. Yes, so far crDroid runs stable for me. The battery life is amazing in Doze mode. I got the idea of building crDroid for Grouper because I have it on my phone as well and its rock solid.
I was wondering if people would like to use Mega as a file host. I tried using Android File Host, but there were some issues and I couldn't open an account. If anyone objects to using Mega, please let me know. I will make an additional upload on Drive or another file host.

Would really appreciate if the build is uploaded on other platform too. Mega is kind of difficult for mobile users

I made an additional upload link on Google Drive. I will also upload the rom to Android File Host.
Really nice !
The tablet is not butter smooth, but really close to ! For a Nexus 7... it's an amazing improvement.
Any custom kernel to advise ?

Like geko95gek said, any LineageOS compatible kernel should work. The reason why I chose AndDiSa's kernel is that it seems to provide a relatively good experience and the battery seems to last longer between charges. However, if anyone else has any recommendations for a custom kernel, let everyone know your experience with the kernel.
Hello, i am new to this, and trying to to put fresh life into my old tablet (NEXUS 2012)
I know this ROM is for the grouper version, i have tilapia, i hoped i could install this and not use the 3G features, but TWRP errors saying "device is talipa and ROM is grouper" is there a way to force TWRP to install, or will it simply not work unless i use a tilapia rom, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey there,
For now, I modified this rom so that it could be compatible with Tilapia without 3g. Try this crDroid rom:. With this open gapps tilapia fix: . And of course, get open gapps arm 7.1 pico online. Let me know if it works.
Hi, Thanks for the reply, just tried the downloads and get the same fault TWRP still thinks the rom is grouper and wont install it. TWRP gives "error 7" and says the device is tilapia.

I was thinking about making a separate build for Tilapia that has 3g, but I don't have Tilapia so someone else would need to test it. However, before that happens or if it happens, you can just flash the TWRP for Grouper on your Tilapia. You will be able to install any Grouper rom, but it won't have 3g. In the future, if you ever decide to use an actual Tilapia rom again, you can just flash the the Tilapia TWRP back.
TWRP for Grouper is available here: https://dl.twrp.me/grouper/
Awesome stuff, works super smoothly.
I had to exit out of the GApps (by tapping the corners, as suggested [thanks!]), but then all was well.
One thing I've noticed though, when I use the Google app (that I downloaded from the play store), the Google Assistant, "Use 'OK Google' Everywhere" is greyed out... No idea why, or how to fix, but maybe someone knows?
Anyway, thanks for this, my Nexus 7 is useable once again! Hurrah!
Seems to be working great for me. Had to exit the setup by just letting the device lock. Unlocked to launcher, add google account worked fine.
I formatted to F2FS.

Before the Google Assistant problem in this rom, where you able to use this feature in other Nougat roms for Grouper? If this is your first time using a 7.1.2 Nougat rom on Grouper, maybe you can try to fix the Google Assistant problem by rooting with SuperSU and installing the "Get Assistant - Root" app by Shane Smiskol on the Google Play store. This app is intended for Nougat Nexus devices, and it might fix your problem.

Thanks for the idea about swapping from tilapia TWRP to grouper TWRP, that allowed the install.
You can boot into TWRP and flash another copy of TWRP from within its menus ( 2.84 and above ), very quick and simple. (no need to have adb/fastoot)
If you decide to make a tilapia build, ill certainly give it a go.
Once again thanks for the help, the tablet will get some use now.

I didn't actually try to use it with any other roms I used prior, so I'm not 100% sure if it's an issue with the rom or not.
I tried the app you suggested before posting actually, but it didn't work. One thing I did notice, when the "Get Assistant" app went to make a backup of the procbuild file (IIRC), it said that the new file was a duplicate of the backup it made, which implies the line was already added to the rom by default?
Anyway, like I say, not a major issue.
Love having my new (old) Nexus back in a working state!

BTW: just for be sure: @ggow is this ROM 64 bit system based no?

Yes, 64 bit gapps should be fine. The ROM is 64 bit.
Great to see a custom rom development for this model. Appreciate all the hard work made by the Dev here.

Cool. So I will wait until you release the device tree. I will use it as base for compile LOS 12.1 for another mt81xx device. I don't know how you do it but you are an expert with MTK tablets!
Works like a charm.
Installed it with Gapps & Magisk.
The only problem i encounter is in youtube.
The max resolution i can choose from is 360p.
Has this something to do with the build.prop?

I'm not sure what the issue is, but you could try YouTube Vanced. A Magisk Repo version is available (Magisk Manager > Downloads). For more info: https://youtubevanced.com

Nice, just now saw this!
Any chance you want to work on pie?
Have all the sources on github, if you want to look into it.
EDIT:
Just noticed the link to unlock points to the Fire 7 unlock thread.

Hi @k4y0z, yes for sure will look into pie.
I want to create a stable cm-12.1...
Then we can at least have a stable ROM whilst working on future versions.
I'll soon push all my device configs once I've sorted out the mess from today's prototyping.
Thanks for the head's up about the unlock link been wrong... Updated now

Yes definitely makes sense, and in hindsight would have spared me a lot of headaches starting with 12.1
My kernel has a few patches that might also be interesting for 12.1 such as SDCARDFS:
https://github.com/chaosmaster/android_kernel_amazon_suez/tree/lineage-16.0
Haven't yet properly upstreamed the kernel, but still planning to (unless you do first )
@ggow, one more thing I'd like to mention.
You could fix the symlinks for boot and boot_x like I'm doing in TWRP:
https://github.com/chaosmaster/android_device_amazon_suez/blob/master/recovery/root/fix-symlinks.sh
That way updating Magisk should also work with MagiskManager.
Netflix working for anyone? I've tried the static wallpaper fix, magisk lib module, magisk hide, and anything else I could think of. 5.10 error mostly, 0013 with older Netflix apks.
just to let you know, After installation, on the setup screen, I keep getting *Google services framework has stopped* message and it doesn't let me go beyond that screen.

Just as an update, after flashing, the Os goes into setup mode but keeps saying "google services framework has stopped"

I had similar problem on the Fire HD 8 using LOS 14.1. I just reinstalled the release from TWRP (dirty, no wiping) and then Netflix worked fine. Experience is from a different platform and rom, but might be worth a shot.

I personally flash the OS first, run it once and the reboot to twrp to install GAPPS. It might not matter, but sounds like your gonna be reinstalling something anyway.
Personally, I'd re-download GAPPS and then try that install again first. If that doesn't fix it, worth trying from scratch.
