i got lags every now and then but i think its because i use touchwiz? i dont like installing custom home launchers so i dont know if its the same case with others
My s9+ run a great, but I choose to install lean launcher and it works great with that too.
Samsung will lag with 10GB of RAM. SAMSUNG don't know how to fully optimize their devices. So don't expect too much

Sounds like an anti-samsung-fanboy. As someone who has avoided buying samsung for the longest time because I hated their android overlay (I've historically gone for moto/nexus devices and installed custom roms), this is one of the best phones I've ever used.
I got the LG V30 a few months ago but traded it in last week for the s9+ (SD variant on T-mo). For only costing $40 more, this thing puts the v30 to shame. Only thing I miss from the v30 is the quad dac and the wide angle lens
with the s9+, I'm amazed at how long I can wait to come back to an app and still have it exactly where I left it, without it getting garbage collected and having to relaunch. I am COMPLETELY surprised because I always heard and would have expected samsung's memory management to be hot trash, but it has totally blown me away so far.

Using S9+, No lag so far
I can only rate this phone with Nova Launcher, but with that, there is no lag. I have run over 20 different apps, all while having the deep town game in the background, and it's right where I left it!
No, in fact, it's beyond where I left it and still running. This is hours later. Opens right up! Everything seems to keep running, I didn't even expect so many at once.
6GB is *great*
However, I'm beyond disgusted that when every app is shut down and cleared out of memory, it is still using 3.3GB of RAM just for the O/S and other apps we can't get rid of.
I don't understand how other "new" phones with 3-4 GB of ram are even functional with the latest O/S versions sucking up so much RAM.

You should change to S9+ to see how fast it is, I got S8+ which use SD835 just like Note 8, and my S8+ running on Android 8.0. When upgrade to S9+, have to said, SD845 is faster than Sd835 like at least 2 times, no lag at all so far for heavily use during the day.
I have no issues regarding lag....I actually sometimes think the phone with certain apps are too quick... I used a S7 edge before the S9+ and for me the speed difference is major with the apps I use.
Im mostly curious to know how the S9+ handles background apps. I play SWGOH and on my S8+ i have to constantly reload the game when I switch to send texts, check slack, another random app or two. It's super annoying but I otherwise love this phone (S8+)
Held off on the S9+ but I've been hearing that it does better with background app management.
Can anyone here confirm that it doesn't close games running in the background as often?
I was considering the Pixel 2XL but it's just as bad as the S8+ if not worse at background app managements.
In the first 2-3 day of use is ok but after that the RAM is remains taken even if you press Optimize. At almost 4 days a restart is needed to free the ram. Very bad optimization if you ask me. My J5 2017 restore the same amount of RAM after a Optimization even if you are not restarting the device and even after a week without restarting.

Annoying. Because of a poor ram optimization I have to performe an unnecessary step.

Still I have concerns that the ram management is because of Android Oreo. I will look forward to see that if will be similar issues when my s7 will get Oreo.
I was talking with people who are facing similar issues on different brands and theirs devices are also running Android Oreo.

That's interesting. The only app that doesn't stay in ram for me is CoC. Server based games always force refresh. I can open other apps 4 days later and they are where I left off. Unless I have to sign back in, like Wells Fargo. No issues at all with ram management
I am using G-965F and G-9650 models both. Multitasking is good on both but with 6 GB RAM and top notch chipsets, it could have been better. The OS needs refinement.

I am liking how snappy and smooth is S9+ is.
I loved the S8+, especially coming from a Note 4. I have the option to upgrade every 12 months and did so for the new camera and relocated fingerprint reader. Still love the S9+ but the 'wow' factor wasn't the same obviously.
Liking it so far besides the fingerprint sensor doesn't work properly on either of the 2 I purchased. Hopefully Samsung will get the bugs worked out soon.
currently liking it but almost identical to my previous s8 minus the new little feature gimmicks i got the purple one even I am a man because I want to be unique.
This is my first Samsung, and I have to say is the best phone I have ever had in my entire life.
For reference, my previous phones were a Mate 9 Pro, a Pixel 2 XL and the U11+.
Possibly one of the best android phones i've ever used design wise. Samsung software is nice but i never like getting pre-installed garbage i can't get rid off. Will however root soon...
This is just the perfect phone for me.
It comes with quite some beautiful design (Coral Blue)
Great screen, great camera for low light and slow mo, great performance (Exynos 9810) and 6GB RAM, great speakers, great biometric options, and the list goes on and on.
On the other hand, battery life is not as good as my previous phone (Galaxy A8 SM-A8000), and I hoped it is lighter and thinner like that phone.
Overall, this is just a special treat for me and I love it by my hearts.
P.S. I am glad I went for the Coral Blue S9+ UK 128GB Exynos variant, and it performs very, very well without breaking a sweat thermal wise (Snapdragon is known to heat up a lot more usually).
Also, since all the Snapdragon Samsung phones I had in the past had their motherboard toast after 2 years of usage or so, all my working Samsung phones are the more reliable Exynos (That A8 broke too with a broken display and unreliable battery, but mobo not toast yet) and I want to keep that trend of Exynos everything on my phones.
Waiting for mine in the mail right now. I'm currently using the note 4. Can't friggen wait, tired of the note 4 sluggishness
Also, I forgot to mention that I ordered my S9+ from clove on Feb 28th. The phones shipped March 6th, but clove did not get the coral Blue variant, so they ended up shipping my package on Mar 16th, only to get delayed by FedEx due to severe weather conditions as well as the exploding parcel in USA, with me finally getting my hands on it on March 22nd, and that is with me heading to the FedEx location and pickup myself. So yeah, due to this series of delays, I was getting too anticipated to get that parcel that I literally couldn't do anything properly for the past 2 weeks.
Anyways, I hope fellow ppl who still haven't received their packages to have better luck than what I have had.

Well that's the Mali gpu drivers for you. Btw I am running android 9.0 pie beta (soilders rom on the s9+ section) The exynos 9810 mail GPU drivers has improved a bit. Getting slightly better performance and less throttling with the 9810 with 9.0 pie. So I guess wait a bit.
pros: best camera, look and feel (have the blue one without case), good performance, black themes
cons: battery could be better but is ok, major updates could be faster but can also live with that
fazit, best phone I've ever had

This is totally not my experience. I use the Exynos GS9+ and I have none of the issues you just mentioned while playing PUBG. Yes the phone does overheat but that is normal for any device which is pushing it's limits. Coming to the performance I play on ultra high settings with anti aliasing turned on and I have never as much as felt a stutter. The battery does drain considerably, around 10-12% per game but I think it's okay since PUBG itself is very demanding. For reference my device is set on QHD+ resolution.
I would suggest you to check if some unwanted app is running in the background and actually hogging up resources as that has happened to me plenty of times on my previous phones. I'm more careful of what I install now.
Really like the One UI and the performace it provides since I came from the S7
I've become very unhappy with my Galaxy S9+. Foremost is the fact that I can't root it. (I have one of those US models that you can't root.) It's my phone. I bought it; I own it; it's mine. I should be able to do anything I want with it. I tried to write a script to backup my SD card to a USB stick, but I don't have permissions to run it. Being a professional programmer, that really irks me.
Then there's all the bloatware. I disabled over 200 packages of stuff I don't want and don't need. Sorry, but I'm not going to be part of the Samsung culture - not a fan.
Samsung is acting just like Apple. "This is the way we want to you use your phone, and you don't have a choice." Well, I do have a choice - to dump Samsung. The OnePlus 7 is coming out next week, and I'm 'deep six'ing Samsung.

I have my S9+ now for 3 days and it is quick, very quick. I had a S7 Edge before this and it's much faster and smoother. Wireless and data throughput is great and no issues keeping the apps I use in ram. The fingerprint scanner is very sensitive and quick to open the phone. The intelligent scan works great and is quick to, just sometime in low light it struggles
I've had my S9+ for a month or so and I'm starting to experience the "Samsung Slowdown" I've heard so much about. I'm noticing stutters when scrolling, lag, and freezing. I attempted to take a picture a few minutes ago and the camera hung on a black screen for almost five seconds before opening. Very annoying for the specs and price of the device. My Mate 9 seemed to run circles around this.
Seriously not seeing any good speed worth mentioning. Same like my old gs8 + and note 8. This guy heats up out of nowhere and throttles sometimes. not an upgrade.
---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ----------
Poor battery too
No issues. Had mine since launch and speed has remained the same. Its fantastic!
Have been having it for 2 months... once I had to restart it cuz it heated up and slowed down... but other than that... perfect
Been using S9+ for 6 months so far. Still fast but I feel like it's slowing down a bit.
Hi guys
I am looking to buy a phone for my gf. she doesn't want a screen bigger than 5.5inch. She is currently an Iphone user but i want her to use Pixel.
I am however, a bit confused between these two models. I wanted to know your day to day experience regarding the phone? does the 3a lags? or how has it held up in performance till now?
Her usage will mostly be light to moderate. It will mainly consist of some normal games (not too heavy), Web browsing, video calling and streaming. Can any1 please share their experience with this phone and anything i need to be worried about?
Personally I'd suggest waiting for the 4a to be released.
The pixel 3 has battery drain issues and the 3a series is great, but with the 4a right around the corner it makes far more sense to wait for that.

3a has an audio jack and better battery life. Currently on sale, too.
The 3a doesn't 'lag'. It isn't as quick as say a OnePlus 8 or similar, but it is most definitely not slow.
Coming from OnePlus phones and iPhones, I don't notice a crazy difference really, it never feels slow to me.
There are some micro stutters on heavier animations or processes, but on the whole it is smooth and quick.
I would buy it again given the sale price and how much I like mine.

Hi thanks for your response! Can you tell me now about your day to day usage? And also regarding ram management?
I tend to close out apps when I'm done, so I rarely ever notice ram issues on any phone I use.
If I open up 10 random apps, it holds them all as far as I can tell. You'll probably see issues if you're opening up lots of games, but not normal apps.
Day to day usage is perfect honestly, I would choose the 3a over the Pixel 4, the new OnePlus phones or any Samsung. For me it just works. I never have to charge it during the day, the camera is amazing, the screen is good, it is perfectly fast for me and the speakers are decent.
Plus, I get better cell reception on this than any other phone I've ever had

4gb is more than enough. The way ram management works on Android pretty much means any device which has over 4-6gb of ram is just wasting ram as free ram is useless.

Just a heads up, that's not great for battery life. Opening apps uses more CPU compared to leaving them in memory, and android will automatically kill the most resource intense background apps whenever it needs more.

I think games wise my gf will probably play ones with medium usage. Say games which will use 800-1gb ram at max.
I'm using a 2xl and the issue is if i extensively use it then i there is lag if I switch between games and browser.

Thanks i think I'll wait for June 3 when they will probably announce the 4a as well. Let's c because at the moment if the rumours are right and 4a is 350$ and 3a at the moment is 280$ so that's not a very big difference.
I really don't think the 4a will be worth it over the sale price of the 3a for most people. For power users, maybe. But for the average consumer, I really don't think it is worth the extra.
I may be wrong and it could be revolutionary, but I highly doubt it will be. Phones these days are getting so good that the differences are very minimal unless you have both of them next to each other in a very controlled test
Plus, the price of the 3a will come down even more closer to/after the 4a comes out.
owner of both , I have to say prefer the 3a for the much better battery

I have tried the display models, which the display may not have been update the system. I am going to try it again later. Furthermore , do you feel like the speakers' vocals are a bit muffled and not as loud as the competitors?
I can only comment / compare against my previous S20+ but for me the speakers are much better in this phone and provide more clarity. Samsung's I found were quite tinny maybe not as loud either, the oppos were also more balanced.
This phone is hands down 100 times better then the "Can't Focus On a Galaxy S20 Ultra". Even without Qi charging, which would have made this the phone of year IMO, it runs circles around the Ultra. Here's why:
1. Auto focus is super fast and accurate. Way better camera setup than S20 Ultra. 108MP? Really? You can't focus using it and the 100x zoom is a joke. The pictures and video out of this phone are legit.
2. Super VOOC charging. You won't miss Qi wireless charging. Super charging or any other charging. All you need know is 100% in 15 minutes. You can see it go up a percentage basically every 10 seconds or so. Plugging in never felt so good.
3. Dual SIM that works and is best in class in compatiablity to essentially ever band used globally. I mean this thing even works on Verizon in the US. Get the Thailand or Malaysia version CPH2025 with dual SIM, 512 GB and 12GB RAM. Still cheaper than the Ultra.
4. 120 GHz refresh and QHD at the same time. Like others said, it works and is easy to setup.
5. It's not a Samsung. Enough said.

Agree with most of that except the zoom at 10x is no where near as good as the ultra. Also after updates there's no issues with autofocus at all now literally none. Just as fast as my note 10, and with my snapdragon s20 ultra I get literally double the battery life of the Oppo. I'd be getting 8hrs SOT in 120hz. With 1080p and 120 im like to get just over 5hrs which is pretty average.

S20 ultra speakers are definitely louder having both in front of me but the oppos are wider and clearer.
Yes and the phone isn't a brick in your pocket and you can literally top it off in like 10 mins or less at any point. Whether I finish the day with 15% or 30% makes no difference in my use. Neither phone is a 2 day phone. I can get all day performance @ QHD & 120HZ with my oppo. I've never had a problem even on a heavy use day with it. The fact that I can add 10% in literally minutes is great. I've never liked how Samsung phones take pictures. I've had plenty and tried to like them but really can't ever settle. I'd take an iPhone over a Samsung. That my own hang up I guess. I like my phone now. Doesn't mean I won't try something later. Vivo X50 Pro + looks promising especially if it comes out for the global market. Maybe I'll look at the Note 20 Ultra. It has some promise based on leaks. But really, it will probably just be more Samsung heartache

How about the immersive experience? I have heard that s20ultra got an update on dolby atmos, do you feel like it has improved? Before switching on the dolby atmos, s20ultra definitely sounds horrible for me. But after switching on, oppo's is a no match as s20 ultra gives a better immersive experience for me but with less bass. But as I have mentioned I have only tried both in the stores which is kind of a noisy environment with both phones not on the most update firmware. Have things improved on oppo find x2pro and s20ultra after several updates?
I have tried the display model. Youtube app can't use 120hz but the web version of youtube through chrome can. The speaker of oppo is better as it doesn't sounds annoying in the highs in the cinema mode of dolby atmos.

Both the app and vanguard run it fine , can't comment why store doesn't but as owner in telling you it's good .

UK version , global.
It sounds to me you have your sights on the ultra.
For me in UK I tried the plus as mentioned but the exynos chip was useless I had it throttling within 7 minutes of YouTube dropping to 30fps which was a hard pull to swallow.
This and the green tint ... Then finding out refresh rate was he restricted made me return it. If it was a Snapdragon I might have kept it but honestly for me the oppo screen is better , sound is also better , software also and design.
I think the battery probably lasted longer on the S20 but the oppo has warp charge so not to bothered at the moment.
Camera I couldn't comment both seem good.

Actually after my hands on today, I am leaning towards oppo's more, it is just a hurdle for me to jump over to buy oppo instead of samsung. In my region it is sd chip which also makes me undecisive. I am also worried about the software update frequency of oppo after the first half of the year.
I jumped from a Note 10+ to the Find X2 Pro, don't regret it at all, ColorOS is less feature packed but almost feels minimalistic to me which is perfect because the whole phone experience just feels like lightning, not the tiniest hiccup

Also for those worried about updates the Find X2 Pro is officially on the Android Enterprise Recommended list which guarantees 90 day security patches for 3 years & at least major OS update

I got my phone yesterday and noticed that in some apps the phone quite frequently drops framerate.
I'll be scrolling through instagram and all seems well the app is running at 120fps everything seems great, but then the phone will suddenly slow down to 60fps. If i go home while i'm in that 60 fps state the home screen (stock launcher) wil be stuk at 60 fps for a few seconds.
This happens in Instagram, Google News, and twitter
I never had this issue on my oneplus 7 pro.
Things i've tried:
High perfomance mode.
Factory reset
Ultra vision engine
Set the refresh rate to 120 in the settings
Set the display resolution to 1080p
None of the above worked
I'm seriously considering returning this phone if this issue persists.
The phone is only 120hz in the home screen and some apps like chrome, what a joke, and yes there is framedrops too, my moto edge is 90hz every app and more enjoyable experience
Yeah I'm getting rid of this phone very soon it's just been a pain from the very start, and updates are non existent for me haven't had a single OTA update since I got this phone 4 or 5 months back

You can't really go wrong with a Samsung phone, besides exynos chipsets

I said the same. Until I got the Note 20 Ultra....the frame rates sucked majorly! It couldn't even handle playing Fortnite. Plus, the display was noticeably worse. Some people say that Samsung displays are the best in the business - while that's true to a degree, I noticed a severe drop in colour reproduction with the Note 20 Ultra display. Especially when you consider that the display on the Find X2 Pro can reproduce 984,000,000 more colours than the display on the Note 20 Ultra. Plus, if you're in Britain and you get a Samsung device - Exynos! Nuff said...(unless you cough up £1,100 to have it imported)
The Find X2 Pro itself is an awesome piece of tech - it's just being severely held back by the software and a severe lack of development - thanks to Oppo locking the bootloader.

ColorOS 11 promises to fix a lot, only time will tell though, December release date for UK devices..
Samsung is off the table until they use Snapdragon in Europe, other than that, nothing compares to the Find X2 Pro

Yeah I'm considering getting a oneplus 8t myself.
I still have 3 weeks left in my return policy, maybe the x2 pro will win me over.
Hardware wise the phone has great spec.
Find the "oppo service" app and you can do a diagnostic test on the phone.
Also if your in the UK.
