How to update rooted european e8 to android 6

Hi guys,
I am using a rooted HTC e8 (european/german version with 1 sim only) with TWRP.
Software Infos from the about sceen: android version 5.0.2, HTC Sense 6.0, Software number 2.34.401.6 ...
I do want to upgrade to android 6 (have the notification sitting on my phone for months now) but I am not really sure how. I can't just do the ota update with my custom recovery (right?!).
Here are the steps I used to get root on the last android 5 update:
then follow these instructions
1. Rename file to RUU.zip
2. Place it in adb folder
3. Reboot phone to fastboot mode
4. S On need to relock bootloader (fastboot oem lock) , S Off lock not needed
5. Also use the htc_fastboot.exe not the normal fastboot.exe
Run the following commands from your adb folder:
6.fastboot oem rebootRUU
7.fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
8.fastboot reboot

Can I just do the same again? What would be the right RUU for me?
Afterwards how do I get the right version of twrp back and how do I root again?

Hey, thanks for the link! Great site (and even german ).
So am I right, that I need to do this to get my updates:
get the Android_5.0.2_M8_ACE_2.34.401.5 RUU from your site and flash it
start the phone and let it do its normal update to android 6
Get the latest version of twrp and flash it
Install/flash the superSU from your post here to get root again (is that one still the right one?)
If anyone can confirm this I will try it soon. Thanks :good:

I guess I do not need the whole ruu but just to flash the stock recovery from your site. Rest should still be right?!
Edit: Or not, afaik that only works if nothing else has been changed and I have superSU installed and might have changed something.

best and easiest way is twrp backup.just you must download latest twrp from snoopy-haeckers.jimdo.com and restore it from twrp recovery .with this way you never need to flash ruu or lock bootloder or flash stock recovery and........

I did just that (restored the twrp backup from your link) and after that my phone was stuck at the start screen (htc one, the white one). Any idea whats wrong or how to fix it?
Restoring my own backup from before worked and is running again atm. Might it be a problem to restore a backup with a newer version of android?

Whats your android version?and check your Hboot version

I did try it again after unzipping and copying the files to my phone again and updating to the newest twrp version. This time it worked. Thanks for the help!

you need:
1. QPST flashtools (qualcomm)
2. Qualcomm Drivers for the Device
3. a firehose file for SDM660
4. rawprogram_unsparse and patch0.xml
5.ADB (newest ADB files are in the zip) . copy the "adb" folder to C:/

How To:
extract the downloaded zip files
1. install QPST/QFIL Flashtools and place adb to C:/
2. Install drivers ( qualcom drivers. make sure that they dont interrupt with other device drivers you have .)
enable usb debugging in developer settings
you have to reboot your device into edl mode by

C:\>cd adb
adb shell
reboot edl
phone will reboot to edl mode ( black screen, no led)
Now check your device manager . the COM & LTP port should show "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"
if not then update the driver and choose it from your internal list. or google for it
if the driver is fine, open the QPST/QFIL FLashtool in
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\QPST\bin\QFIL.exe
prepare the Flashtool:
in Select Build Type:
choose: Flat Build
in Select Programmer:
browse and choose the "prog_emmc_ufs_firehose_Sdm660_ddr.elf" file
( you cant see it change to "all files" )
Load XML:
now choose the rawprogram_unsparse.xml and right after the patch0.xml
you can press the "download button"
wait a bit , at the end of the flashing procedure it will make an error, thats normal because i left the patch0.xml empty.
after all disconnect the cable and hold Power button a few seconds. phone will reboot .
the build is without userdata that means it will be Stock and like a factory reset.

What are the changes in it?
If there is not much difference then I will not change it. I would only update it if there were some very important innovation in it.

Nothing.
Not possible to lock it. It's weird that Elephone made it like that.
Only 2018227 base let you lock/unlock it. But no Fastboot CMD.
Newer builds have Fastboot . But you can't lock/unlock.it.
Lol
But an unlocked bootloader isn't a problem. There is no different. Even bank apps should work

You only want to lock the bootloader.
Then just flash via ADB Fastboot the abl.img of 0227
After lock it and go to edl mode , then flash the rom you want.
That would be the steps. But there is a little problem
The new builds are all with unlocked bootloader. Because
Otherwise for me it was not possible to take out the firmware dump. So when you flash a newer build. The abl.img would be unlocked again....
I didn't tried that:
Just replace (copy and paste) the abl.img .
Copy 0227 abl.img to 0511 folder on pc. And flash the rom with qfil again. After that reboot and go back to bootloader to lock it...
Report back if that works.
( Lock bootloader means you don't need Fastboot etc anyway, so that could be a solution, if it works.)
In newer ota /firmware updates I will try to lock it again

I edited the first post of 20180227 stock ROM
(to prevent losing IMEI do this:
Open the raw_programm.xml and search for modemst1 and modemst2 . Remove those lines. And save. Then go forward)
That's all . Then qfil will not flash these images and IMEI is save

zmieniłem na wersje 511 ale co ona tak naprawdę daje nie widzę różnicy
aparat fotograficzny jak był bardzo zły tak został
jedynie widzę że lepiej działa identyfikacja palcem
pojawił się problem z googlepay ponieważ telefon jest zrootowany i google to wykrywa i nie można płacić telefonem

1. In 511 you have fingerprint improvement and system stability is better.
2. You have to look the bootloader

I have a comment. This version can not be rooted. That is, it may be, but then the wifi network disappears and can not be switched on.
If I put back the original boot.img file then there is a wifi network but it is not rooted. I tried it several times but the above result was generated.
Do you know how to fix it or are you already rooting this rom version?

Yes.
1. Place boot.img to storage
2. Install magisk manager
3. Magisk manager/install/choose file
4. Select boot.img
5. Take out the patched_boot.img from magsik folder on storage
6. Flash it via Fastboot.

twrp loop after ROM update

Previsouly, I used TWRP v8 and EU MIUI 8.7.19 and today I updated EU MIUI 8.8.3.
After ROM installation, my system is booted to TWRP mode.
I successfully reinstalled EU MIUI ROM, and worked well until TWRP work.
After using TWRP, my system is booted to TWRP mode..
How can I fix this TWRP loop problem.
Please help me.

Would like to use the OTA files doing your instructions:

can this be done directly or before doing this, i need to do other manual updates (from April/May)?

You can do it.
(Hope there is no error 20 issue) when tell me I know how to fix.
You will nothing.
Just update.
And future also will work (at least I hope , that the ota system don't work is a Elephone issue..)

I have local updated without any issues. Thank you. At least the security patch is now 5 Sept 2018.
Not sure if it's relevant but on Play Store > Settings it now shows that the device is not certified. But i think i don't need that and will be a problem more for Android Pay users.

I know. Only 0227 and 423 base has certified play protect.
But it is not an issue at all.
All will work.
Not certified means that the safety net isn't passed.
You can fix it with root. And a patch.
But for only stock users that isn't a problem.
I think all will work.
You can check that. Search in playstore for Netflix
. If you can install that app , all is fine.
Btw.
In 3hours I upload the new 20190918 base stock rom.
With locked bootloader. So it's fully stock . I was able to fix that unlock issue in later builds...

This is the latest rom. (There is the no forward OTA file)
And flashing will wipe all.
So I would say stay on the ROM you are and wait until Elephone fixes the issues with ota

no elephone ota issue we have two the one with the factory for updated normally the one with yours april stock rom no
I have a laptop now with win 10 but I can not connect to the phone the adb commands do not work on C
can not put the phone on debag mode and can not make a back up of it
im stuck with sceletons rom and do not know how to update this

I provided a solution for it.
Flash stock 227 rom
Flash the 227ota dtv stock then
After that it's works and all fine...
Not at home now, so I can't provide the files..

[ROOT] Root for 10.3.1.0 Global

Hi all,
Is anyone rooted on global hardware global ROM 10.3.1.0? I've been getting the update notifications for a while but have been hesitant to update in case I loose root, I've never updated with an OTA on a rooted device before. To update, can I just download the OTA then reflash TWRP and Magisk and be good to go? Has anyone tried this? If so, what version of TWRP and Magisk did you use successfully?

Download the OTA, install it via TWRP, boot into the system and flashing TWRP via ADB again. Boot into the TWRP and flash again magisk. That's how it worked for me. At least with my mix 2 [emoji1360]
