Is this repairable? Plastic broke off - Huawei Watch 2

The watch was a gift brought over overseas. I live in Canada so I highly doubt Huawei Canada will warranty the device seeing it's not available to purchase here. Still, lets see how long Huawei replies to emails.
Opinions on this?

as long as I know, Huawei does not answer to emails or if they do they just give you some bs! so you'd better take to the warranty or call them and see if they would help you...good luck!

If they don't want to help you, that is definitely repairable. Some black epoxy resin, a fine file, a small drill bit. Job done. If you still have the piece that broke off even better. Some epoxy or strong glue...

[SOLVED] Just got my Seidio Innocase II. It has a lot of scratches out of the box!

I got the Seidio Innocase II Surface, Combo and the Ultimate Screen Guard. Because I live in the Philippines, I asked someone in the US to buy it for me then someone brought the items to here.
Unfortunately, the Innocase came with a lot of scratches out of the box. I don't know how the hell this passed Seidio's QA. Really pissed.
For many of you out there, this isn't too much of an issue because you can easily ask for replacements. As for me, I don't know how I'm going to get this thing replaced. Shipping it to the US would be more of a hassle than living with the scratches.
I'll email Seidio and tell you how it goes.
Any advice?
Edit: Here's the pic. Got some on the front part too but they're not really photo-worthy
Edit:
Got a reply. I pasted it below. I filled out the RMA request. Let's see what happens next

Edit: btw, the Innocase messed up the Seidio's screen protector too. It's got bubbles now. I admit that it's my fault because the protector wasn't perfectly aligned, but it's still frustrating
Feb 19 Edit: After following up, Seidio is shipping a replacement for my Innocase II to the address of the person I asked to buy it for me I hope, she gets a replacement in perfect condition.
Probably the last edit:
Finally got my Innocase replacement! I'm lucky I found someone going home from the US. The new case is very different from the first one I got. It has no scratch at all and is less prone to scratches. The first one I got probably had issues with handling and production. I'm loving this Innocase! =)

Their customer service has always been great in my experience. Let us know how it goes... make sure you explain that because of where you live, shipping to the U.S. is very difficult and costly for you.

Hey brotha I will be in the Philippines from March 4 to 12, if you need anything in regard to your phone let me Know and we can meet up. I will be staying in Manila and frequenting the MOA.
BTW.....
Are you on SMART, GLOBE or SUN ? how is the 3g over there ?
@boomer30
Cool! I'll see how the customer support goes first.
As for 3G, I don't use. I never intended to when I got my Nexus One, because of how much it would cost me. To be honest, I haven't checked, but it's like P20 for 2 hours on Smart. That's 0.43 usd for 2 hours.
I tried my dad's Smart 3G sim, though. I didn't manage 3G to work. I heard, it could be because of VPN settings or something like that. If I understand correctly, the telco has to activate 3G on the device, unless you know how to do it yourself.
Seidio's customer service is excellent...they will take care of your issue! Good Luck
Got a reply. I put it on the first post.
I really hope I get something acceptable out of this

I'm on SUN and 3G signals here are very spotty. I'm planning to switch to Globe to see if I can get better coverage with their 3g. They also have very flexible data rates, hence the reason for me for switching.
Back on topic:
Sorry to hear about you case! I've got the same one also, and thankfully no scratches on mine.

I's been two days since I submitted the RMA request, but I still don't have a response. Losing hope in Seidio
Send them another reminder that it's been 2 days w/o any update! Stay on them until u get a satifactory answer.
I emailed them 10 hours ago and I still don't have any response. Let's see...
I ordered the Innocase through my cousin. She was just informed that the RMA order was shipped to her address!
Actually, I didn't expect them to do this. I even wanted Seidio to ship the replacement to here, but they didn't even ask me to ship my defective Innocase before giving me a replacement.
That's a win-win situation for both of us. I'm satisfied. Ooops. I won't speak too soon this time. I'll ask my cousin to open the package to check for defects this time. That thing isn't flying to the Philippines with any sort of defect
When she recieves the Innocase in good condition, I'll just have to find a way to ship this defective one back and to ship the replacement in. That's way better than nothing
Other than the scratches, do you like the case?
Impressions?

Just saw the thread again. Is there a way to search for all your threads on xda? I miss this feature in this implementation of VBulletin.
Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate the concern very much.
A friend went home from the states and brought the case to me. It's really nice! It appears that my first case wasn't just mishandled. The coating is really different. It's hard to scratch this new case.
Btw, I heard that, to make 3G working on Smart, you just have to add a VPN. I don't know for other networks, though. I hope, 3G is working fine for you here
Im glad you got everything working for you.... Im enjoying the Philippines and always hanging out at the MALL OF ASIA which has free WIFI thru-out the entire complex FYI.
for the SMART 3g to work I just did the following:
text GPRS ON to 333
and the settings are as follows:
NAME: smart
APN: internet
proxy: 10.102.61.64
port: 8080
mcc: 515
mnc: 03
Im getting good 3G and 3.5G
I would suggest that you get APNDROID from the Market so you can disable the internet and use it on demand since its 20 pesos for 15 mins. I learned the hard way.

Have you tried sending "SURF" to 211 to get information about the service?

Cracked screen

Due to unresolved billing issues with T-Mobile and now to add injury to insult, the dang phone fell 2.5ft while i was getting out of the car...and guess what?
Gorilla glass is not all it's cracked up to be (pun intended)
Im thinking this is a final sign that i need to bail ship and move onwards.
What is an otherwise perfectly working stock G2X running GB worth?
Do you have the insurance on the phone? It covers drops.

Nope, no ins. Never broke a phone before...normally pretty careful dude so didnt think it was necessary. I was really really surprised, especially how bad it shattered from a short fall.
Isnt there like a $50 deductable for that anyway? the Screen's + Digi go for less on ebay.
How about this one?
It doesn not say it has the digitizer is what's stopping me from pulling the trigger right now.
any opinion on this??
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display...042?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c05e642a
I was under the impression that the two terms; touchscreen and digitizer could be used interchangably. I may be wrong though. That item would work in my mind but I would see what other members had to say.
Well nevermind the idea of a sale or value for the phone. It is worth nothing according to LG.
I sent the phone in for repair and it was returned today. I asked why nobody contacted me and was told becuase they had received the phone physically damaged and it was unrepairable. I asked for a photo but the one they sent was pretty small and shows really nothing plus i am not sure what im supposed to be looking for anyway.
So are they sending you a new one or just keeping yours?

I posted here today prior to receiving my phone back from repair. I was posting trying to figure out what my options were going to be in advance of things.
I was not expecting to receive the phone back as i had not been notified, no calls or anything from stellar/LG...
Surprised to see teh fedex man with a package for me...it was my phone...broke.
So no, They are not sending me a new one. I am bummed. I have a nice fancy broken g2x that stellar/LG deems unrepairable!

Your G2X is not unrepairable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1207651.html
There is plenty of information on the internet about repairing it including videos on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDUPPzbQKTI

There are other sources of parts too.
People make this mistake all the time. Hardness and strength are not interchangable. Gorilla glass is hard, great for scratch resistance but terrible for shatter resistance.
Basic metallurgy. Applies to metals too.

Corememory - I just received the phone back from it's authorized repair center and they say the phone was sent back to me "as is" because they do not replace phones, only repair...and mine in non repairable.
I will post the pic they sent if you still dispute it's fixable and undertstand circuit board repair or whatever the issue is.
TerryM - yes.My mistake as well as many others too. Also surprsing is in the reference thread posted it was also noted by another poster the extremely short fall it took to break.
Possibly the 'Gorilla Glass' is a worse alternative after all...more susceptble to shattering than Non gorilla or standard display glass.

LG (and pretty much every other manufacturer) covers repairs for manufacturing defects. They have no responsibility to repair a phone that was broken otherwise, and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to expect LG to do so.
Being as you didn't purchase insurance, that means you get to find someone to fix it for you, or fix it yourself. It isn't that difficult or expensive.
TL;DR: You broke your phone. You don't have insurance. Fix it.
Ummm...thanks i know it's tough luck and am aware of SOP's for getting my situation str8. What i am NOT getting is prior to sending it in i read on here as well as other sites the costs and procedures involved. So why then are two members directing me to repair on my own or find someone, if the actual USA LG auth repair facility is saying it's non??
I do not want to spend anymore time or money. I would just assume move on to the next phone and carrier. Screw t-mobile. The phone was great aside from the fragility.

If all that was broken is the screen, it isn't by any means unrepairable (no matter what LG's authorized repair facility says), but you would need to check it out for yourself in order to find out the extent of the damage, unless you already know. Without pictures or details of what is damaged, we can't exactly tell you if it is fixable or not. The way it was worded sounded a bit like you attempted to get a warranty repair rather than something you would have had to pay for.
The thing is throughout the thread your attitude towards T-Mobile and LG already shows more than a little animosity and it colors how we read your posts as a whole, or at least how I read it. I don't know what your issue with them is exactly, and I don't want to. You flat out say you don't want to spend any more time or money on this problem, so...Hope you know that moving to another phone and carrier is going to cost you (either you pay for the phone up front or you pay for it in your contract, dearly, and in the US there aren't any better deals than Sprint or T-Mobile). Either way, without more details there isn't much we can tell you.
Also, this phone isn't any more 'fragile' than any other thin slab of glass attached to metal and plastic that is less than an inch thick.

Ummmm. This phone is no more fragile than the next. I actually stood on my phone and ground it into limestone rocks. I ended up with just a couple of scratches. It isn't unbreakable, but there is no issue that makes it more fragile than any other phone. It isn't T-Mobile's fault that 1) you didn't buy insurance and 2) glass can be broken.

Not sure what exactly you are reading into...ive stated that the phone was dropped and was surprised the repair facility intimated their inability to repair.
Maybe i exagerrated when i mentioned i am normally careful. I am, but sheet happens and i have dropped other phones w/out damage. My first smartphone was the mytouch3g, it was dropped a few times from greater distances with only a few nicks and a crack in the casing. All i have is my own experience to draw from, and in this case the other thread posted where another member also complained about a short fall and the resulting damage. In my experience the phone is fragile due to completely shattering from a small fall!
I understand your lack of interest in my issues with T-Mobile. So all i can do is say: BEWARE
What i would REALLY like is info/help on determining if this phone is fixable. I assume i can go to simple mobile and buy a SIM or would anyone possibly l know if i quit on a contract with T-Mobile and could care less what they do to my credit, can i get on one of their pre-paid plans via wal-mart or something?
So, should i post the photo they sent me, take the phone apart and look for something?? how to save myself from ordering a display/digitizer and coming to the same conclusion as stellar?

I know and said nothing about this being T-Mobiles fault. I have posted on here in the past some detail so no need to go into it. All i can say is WATCHOUT FOR THEM. Be very careful and cautious if ever doing any business with them. TRUST ME please and save yourself the frustration.
as for insurance, just a risk i take. I would prefer no auto/home any kind whatsoever. That's just me, foolish or not i'd rather not pay monthly. Most insurances will look for any way not to pay. I only purchase required insurance.

After reading your other threads and going over the things you ask about (like getting a Simple Mobile SIM and putting it in the phone to 'fix' the screen, wanting to know how to get out of your contract, complaining that LG and T-Mobile won't just magically replace your $15-20 battery at your whim) it sounds like all you want is out of a contract you signed with no repercussions, or ETF. You give absolutely no details, pictures, proof of correspondence with LG's repair facility, or any necessary information required to help you figure out just how damaged your phone is. You state you have read about and even checked prices on how to fix your screen.
I want to help you, but you don't seem to want help. All you seem to want is a way out of your contract and an easy way to chum up with another carrier without spending any money. Sorry, but you won't find help for that here.

Actually. If you read what I wrote, I mentioned that I dropped my phone onto onto limestone gravel and then proceeded to STAND ON IT. And I weigh 260 lb. Screen scratched but unbroken. Does that prove it is unbreakable? Nope. In any single incident all kinds of things are possible. I used to work for tmo, I know this firsthand. You'd be surprised, even with those old "indestructible" Nokias, how many people dropped their phones a "couple of feet" onto the carpet and ended up with something broke. It happens. Shut up and deal with it like a man.

MT4GS full body case

Hi! I would like to ask if is there anyone that sell a full body case replacement for mt4gs? I got mine from a friend so obviously it's second hand and it's already full of scratches/nicks in the metal plate side so I thought about replacing it and failed to find anyone selling it.
I am not talking about those colored cover thingies on ebay. I am talking about the real case of mt4gs. I am loving this phone physically and I'm pretty sure I won't be shifting phones anytime soon since I am a qwerty enthusiast and the upcoming samsung relay 4g just got rejected by my taste.
I've looked into this as well, and there are a couple links on google if you type in "mytouch 4g slide full housing" or something along the lines of that. I'm on my phone, so no links heh.
I lied. Check www.globaldirectparts.com/HTC-Mytouch-4G-Slide-Housing-p/htc745670.htm.
Hmm I'm outside US and seems like they require Federal Tax ID what's that? @[email protected]
Lol that's weird, since it is called global direct parts. I'd check Ebay out Amazon if you haven't already.
Ok already email them and I got a reply saying...
As a wholesale distributor, we only serve cellphone repair shops, wireless retail stores, refurbishers, insurance companies, and other wholesale purchasers. We do not supply the general public or end users repairing their own personal devices at this time. If you are repairing your own device, we recommend you take your device to a qualified repair technician.

Checked ebay they aren't selling any lol! amazon I dunno...
Ah I guess that's why they needed a tax id: to prove you are going to resell it.
Well, I tried lol. I've been looking to buy one as well, but just to keep as a spare just in case. Maybe you can find a repair shop in your area that would sell you the housing. Idk, good luck though haha.
On a side note, my friend was able to buy housing for a SGS2 a month ago from a repair shop down here. They said they don't normally do that, but (and I seriously think this) because she's hot, they "made an exception". They didn't wanna sell it to me so she went in the next day and asked the same question. I love the world we live in haha.

alright, this looks like somewhere you would be able to buy, but the price is kinda steep. it runs about 80 bucks, and for that price i'm willing to just buy another case to hide the battlescars on my phone lol.

Gear S2 problems

Hey everyone,
I am experiencing some issues with the Gear S2. So let me list them here below:
1) after a quick spray of water, the bezel doesn't have the clickiness that was present before.
2) the bands on the watch refuse to come out anymore.
If anyone has solutions to these problems, that would be great.
Thanks, Fritz_Frigursson
Solutions? not really.
Hi Fritz,
I don't have any solutions for either of your problems. Just complaints that Samsung's Support (at least hear in Canada) is ABYSMAL. Never send your device in to them. They'll simply deny your claim on all kinds of ridiculous grounds and tell you to pay more than the device is worth to fix it. I sent in my watch 2 weeks ago because the back fell off of it. Seriously, it just fell off. Glue let go and plop! there it is on my counter. I went through their process, sent it in only to be told that it was my fault. That the back falling off is apparently "wear and tear". Then they said that there is moisture inside the device, which is obvious because I was running with it just before it fell apart and the sweat would have gotten in there...
Get rid of the watch, buy one from a company that cares about customer service - preferably one that doesn't use FutureTel to do the repair assessments.

Hey Ryan,
So you're saying that Samsung customer support is bad, so I'm going to stick with what you just said.
I can't really buy anything now because.... reasons but seriously the Gear has many problems. I twisted the bands today and it is now practically loose. The band themselves are very difficult to remove and replace. Here in Europe there are NO customer service and I can't send it in because I bought it from another country. So for now I'm searching for new straps. No problem otherwise.
Thanks for your help, Fritz_Frigursson

Cracked Gorilla Glass SR on new Gear S3 Frontier

Hey all,
Owned this watch for three days now and, while I love the look and industrial design, I was shocked to find a hairline crack in the glass right around the 6 o'clock position.
There is not a scratch on the case - not one - and the device has not been dropped. This is my third Samsung smart watch and I own a handful of reasonably exotic automatics/mechanicals. I'm not new to owning nice stuff on my wrist.
On a call to Samsung customer support, they said, without even having seen the watch, "That's physical damage and won't be covered under warranty." Three days old, not a mark... and my new watch is severely compromised. Here's hoping I just got a bad piece of Gorilla Glass and this not represent the first of many glass failures.
I'm hoping Samsung steps up to the plate and looks after this directly as Best Buy does not have the inventory to exchange my defective watch but, from their initial reply, I'm not too confident. I wish they had elected to use sapphire glass - like ALL nice watches rather than Gorilla Glass.
PICTURE ATTACHED.
So sad. First I had to give up my stunning Note 7, now this...
Holy crap. Brutal. Let us know how that works out - good luck!!
Sounds like you're going to be taken care of, though you might be without a watch for a longer period of time then you'd prefer. Perhaps the lesson for everyone is that its worth considering buying an extended warranty, which can be purchased within 30 days of sale. Best Buy has a pretty good one for $70 with no deductible. Square Trade also offers them starting at $55 with a deductible.
Samsung has stopped communicating via their Facebook Customer Service team after making a statement promising to "escalate" the matter.
Looks like they are not very proactive in resolving customer issues in a positive way. Very disappointing given all the support I've given Samsung. I've voted with my wallet in their favour from TVs to SSDs to portable devices. And now they don't step up.

Did you purchase the watch directly from Samsung or third party seller or store?

Then the responsibility lies with Best buy and not Samsung. That is GOOD news as outlets tend to be a lot more helpful than Samsung sales or Samsung importers.
You must return your watch to Best buy and insist upon a replacement. It is difficult to asses from the picture but that does appear to be a crack and not the result of a ding. I can see no point of impact that has caused the crack and surmise the problem could be one of pressure caused by a badly placed crystal.
Its always going to be a battle with this sort of thing. I hope you speak with the manager of Best buy and the watch is replaced.
Let us know how things develop.

I agree that Best Buy is the cleanest and simplest means of resolution. However, they have no stock to facilitate an exchange. I was also considering that Samsung may actually be inclined to satisfy a loyal customer given their current corporate challenges.
Further to that angle, I thought they may be genuinely concerned that this crystal spontaneously broke. Were it my product, I would want to understand the failure immediately.
I'll keep XDA abreast of the process.

That's a problem.
Samsung is a beast of a company, they are so large and diverse they probably had a hand, forgive the pun, in the manufacture of our underwear and shoes! When a business the size of Samsung grows so mega large an awful lot of what we call customer service goes out of the window.
I am one of 'those' customers who went through the Note 7 fiasco TWICE so I have first hand experience of just how poor Samsung is with customer care. The intentions in Korea may well be decent but they appear to hold zero influence of the global importers so different countries importers operate in different ways or don't operate at all!
In this country Samsung itself sub contracts all imports! Never heard the like of it before! Meant hell trying to sort out the Note 7 problem.
It is a real pain when we wait and wait for a product to hit the stores only to find we have a problem. I would again suggest you return your watch to Best buy within the return time and wait it out for new stock. A cracked screen has rendered your watch useless in any case so return it. Problem will be IF Best buy say the problem is customer caused or they send it to Samsung who will certainly say that regardless.
I do think Best buy is your only hope of resolving this matter.
Oh and BTW I don't think either Best buy nor Samsung give a hoot if they loose a loyal customer, plenty more where they came from..... Its a brave new world eh!

I just ordered one from best buy online the other day, and it's already shipped, so they have stock at their warehouse.

I have exactly the same issue after 2 weeks, Did Samsung come to the party?, if not what did it cost to get it repaired?
Cheers,
Gary

I'm not sure what you're looking at but they certainly do have them on their website and in stores, even on sale.

My post was five months ago, dude. I would indeed expect that the inventory situation has evolved.
In Turkey glass replacement costs as much as a new watch.. It means it is NOT covered with guarantee AND they do not do it.. they just want you to throw it away.. bastards..
