No cellular service? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I've got a used Mate 9 that I've been trying to get cellular service on.
When I insert a SIM card, if the card was in a device that was working, it will briefly look like it's going to get service, showing the carrier name and signal bars, then shortly thereafter go to "No service" or "Emergency calls only". It does recognize the card and pull my number from it and such.
According to Huawei when I look up warranty information it is the US Mate 9. It's currently running MHA-L29C567B130. (It was running Oreo but in an attempt to eliminate that as a reason for it not working I downgraded it with Hisuite to the last Nougat release.)
It doesn't seem that have been rebranded or anything of the sort but I can't be absolutely sure about that.
I've tried going through these forums and didn't come up with much (or if it was there, it's buried in dozens of pages of posts).
Is there anything I can do to get service on it?

Lost my number

I have an Huawei Ascend from MetroPCS that I have rooted and updated to android 2.2. All went well for about a week until I accidentally deleted Talk, I started getting the force close for a lot of my apps and my wifi was cutting out. Today I noticed that I had zero bars and looked under phone status only to find that "My phone number" is now "Unknown". Does anyone know how to set that or do I have to go back to factory and call Metro? Also the link for the recovery package (MetroPCSStock Recovery Package with Scripts) redirects to another sight, do I have to sign up for that sight to get the recovery file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One other thing when I boot up my phone it has a message that reads "no UIM card Emergency calls only". Is this like a SIM card in which case Metro phone don't have those so I am probably screwed.
hey man I am having the same exact problem NO UIM card emergency calls only Please insert a UIM card I even flashed to a backup image I made liek 15 days prior to having this problem tonight and still didn't make any differnace bro I dont know wtf to do now...

[Q] Phone stolen. Any chance to find it?

Hi everibody, a couple of weeks ago my windows phone has been stolen. Of course I went to the police and I did everything what was in my possibility..and I know that there's a localization service for windows phone. I tried to use it but this service searches phones trough the SIM number, not to the IMEI..considering that the thief has thrown away the Sim card I think it's not an useful service at all =_= Do you have any idea to suggest how to find my phone in any way, if it's possible?
Thank you for listening!
Well a couple of weeks may be too late, but its worth a try.
The localization feature uses your live id saved in the phone, and not the sim card (at least that's what I think). So just give it a try. Go to windowsphone.com and sign in using the same id that you have in your phone, and then go to my phone tab. Under that tab, there will be a smaller tab "Find my Phone" which locates your phone.
If your phone is turned on and not flashed, you could locate it without the thief knowing.
Best of luck.
p.s. In case you find it, don't lock and ring your phone immediately. If you do that, the thief will become aware and can switch off or flash your phone. Go to the shown location with Police, and then do it. The ring that the phone use when activated remotely is very weak, and you need to be really close to hear it. In case you have important information on your phone, then you can erase the phone's contents to be safe.
I tried your method but as expected This service finds my phone number and not my Windows live ID, in fact when I try to search my phone I can see it is in my house, because I made a new SIM card with the same phone number and now I am using that on another phone (with different os and imei!!!). I can say this is a very useless sevice =s
Well, if you'd used it within a few minutes or hours instead of within a few weeks, you'd have had a much better chance of it being useful... any anti-theft system can be easily disabled if you give the theif that long!
Tracking a phone by IMEI is possible, but requires the cooperation of the phone company and typically they'll require a warrant (depending on jurisdiction). It'll also only locate the phone to within a few blocks; for full accuracy you need to query the phone's GPS rather than attempt to determine it by tower signal strength.
You should have done this on the day you lost your phone and not a few weeks later.

N5 has No service, No data and SIM card sometimes not recognized

Heres whats going on
I have reset the N5, and flashed the July MM image. Everything flashed fine.
I insert SIM before booting, Android doesnt see SIM... so i pulled out the SIM and reinsert while on, and it sees it.
The Signal goes into an empty triangle... It says you have voicemail. And nothing else happens.
No data, no service. *#*#4636#*#* shows the right selection, it gives me the option to turn on the radio, but if i click it, nothing ever happens.
Under phone info, it sees my phone number, the IMEI is fine, and its not blacklisted when i check multiple carrier's websites.
I just cant seem to figure out why it wont just acquire service signal even when APN settings are right.
Anyone got any tips, tricks or solutions to this?
Possibly damaged sim card or sim card reader?

Click to collapse
dont think so, i think its software maybe.... When i do *#*#4636#*#* it will show my phone number on the top... if i remove SIM, the number becomes "unknown"... so i dunno
If it happens with all SIM cards, it could be a damaged sim reader as different areas of the SIM card contains different information? Not sure.
I have similar problem with MOB30P on T-Mobile network. The 4G LTE would work just fine (I can browse web etc), but the voice is where it is failing hard. I would have dropped calls along with calls not coming through (both calling out and receiving calls).
I downgraded to MOB30M and everything appears to working fine now. I have not opened any bug against Android yet, because I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this problem.
Hi, I was googling for a problem like your one. My N5 does not recognise the sim at boot, but only if it is "hot". If I put it in the fridge for ten minutes and then reboot, all works fine until the next shutdown. I'm sure it's an hardware problem (already tried different sim) so I disassembled all the phone, and it looks perfect. With some cleaner for electrical contacts it can survive for some days, and then starts again. So sad, I don't want to change phone just for this stupid problem XD
I'm getting exact same issue with my Nexus 5 since CM13 0803 update, which brings MOB30Y to my phone I believe.
At first my phone could still recognize my carrier (China Unicom), but there is no signal.
Then I flash radio image from MOB30Y and the phone now cannot find SIM card completely.
Even reflashing factory image doesn't help.
I'm now trying to reflashing MOB30P to see if it helps.
Update to latest August security update radio and bootloader

Missing about 5-10% of my calls...goes directly to voicemail...since NOUGAT

I am pretty frustrated with my S6 (sm-g920w8) after taking the update to Nougat. I do not know why I upgraded.
I never missed a call when I was on Marshmallow but since the upgrade in July, I have missed about 5-10% of my calls daily that go directly to voicemail and are not registered in my call logs. I tried everything from factory resets...to a new SIM card...
I am at the newest firmware (G920W8VLS5DQG1). I am NOT rooted. My phone status shows a valid IMEI (although it does show my phone number as unknown).
Please anyone with suggestions I would love to hear...otherwise I may have no choice but go purchase a new phone as I rely on my phone for business...right now I downgraded to my s4 until I do something about the problem.

HELP: "Not on Registered Network" while trying to place calls after recent update

HELP: "Not on Registered Network" while trying to place calls after recent update
Hi all, yeah I'm getting this error now after recent update, any help greatly appreciated.
Factory ROM
Unlocked S7, formerly ATT&T
Edit:
I should mention that I've already done steps 1-7 here:
(can't post links yet)
Turn off and remove and re-insert sim card.
Attempt to manually connect to all scanned networks, one by one
Reset Network Settings
Start phone in Safe Mode
Nothing works, and I can't contact my carrier, SafetyNet Wireless, because I have no means of placing a call (I used to be able to use Google Hangouts if I found myself in a situation like this)
I'm really upset about this and have turned off auto-downloading of Software Updates.
How an update could break my phone's primary functionality is completely beyond me. God damn there's some real idiots working for Samsung at the moment.
