Picked up a Verizon S3 SCH-I545 Running 5.0.1 Build Number LRX22C.I545VRSGPL1. Been Browsing multiple threads about the bootloader. Ive seen the bounties, posts all for different build numbers and was wondering if they will work with my current build, or if anyone can post a link to 1. I have already rooted the device with King and switched to SuperSU, but I'm still unable to get any features like the Factory Tether unlock that I could get with a custom rom and need to know if anyones unlocked this bootloader so I can Flash TWRP. Thank You in advanced.

The answer to your question is... Yes, it's still locked up and no way of getting it unlocked nor downgrading it either.
Sorry for giving you the bad news...
Good Luck!

I just want to say thank you in advance for any help that is given, I use these threads a lot and this is the first time I've had to post a thread because I couldn't find an answer already.
Anyway, I have a Samsung S3 SCH-I535 with Verizon running the latest bootloader and Android 4.4.2. I want to install the latest Cyanogenmod and from what I've found online. The only way to do this is to downgrade sense the bootloader is locked. I've downlaoded all the files I need but odin gives me errors because the software is not authorized. I've tried safestrap and have succussfully installed the superliterom ver. 3 but ASOP do not work with safestrap so my only option is to downgrade the bootloader and manually install the latest CM12.1. Please someone help me with this. I've exhausted all my resources and don't know where to go next.

Mobile tech videos has a site with a mail in boot loader downgrade service. Seriously reputable. Takes a couple days and when you get it back your back to 4.1.2 with unlocked boot loader and back to flashing whatever you please

I've been following the mobile tech thread for quite some time, I'd take a look at this first before even considering them

If there is any way around the q-fuse, I haven't heard of it.
442 is stuck with locked bootloader ROMs, so far as I know.
There are a couple companies that offer downgrades and unlocked bootloaders, Mobile Tech Reviews being one of them, and the other being FWIW (I think).
I've heard good things about both, but have never tried them out.

As I noted above I'd be very careful with mobile tech videos as a ton of users have reported a not so great experience with them

I have a Verizon S3 unlocked, no root, totally stock android 4.4.2 with baseband yudne1 and build kot49h.i535vrudne1
Want to confirm if I can install CM13 nightly. Everything I read indicates I need to root and update recovery and all that good stuff but it is not possible on 4.4.2
Just want to confirm if anything has changed in the past year with a new process. Forums have a lot of old guides so I would appreciate a quick yes or no. if yes, any link to a stable procedure would really be appreciated.
Thank you in advance. XDA is awesome and the people on this forum are some of the best.
Thanks,

Hey!
As @ShapesBlue says, if you took the OTA to 4.2.2 then you are locked. HOWEVER, there is a method developed by the typical enterprising XDA member that "Downgrades" the firmware by flashing part of the boot loader/firmware but leaves the crucial bit intact that doesn't brick the phone. Sort of a hybrid firmware flash. I believe it's supposed to open the phone up to flashing TWRP and non-stock custom ROMs. I know someone who used it and it worked on CM12.1 last year, but he also had some trouble after awhile (don't know if that was related to this procedure or not) and made an error later that bricked his phone, permanently it seems.
What isn't mentioned in that OP, at least the last time I looked, was that after doing this procedure, if you flash the firmware recommended in the CM12 and CM13 thread OP's, you will overwrite the partition that is spared in his zip file. Then you will be dead! He does explain exactly what partitions are flashed by telling you how to make the zip file. The updater-script I expect is not touched. Looking at it or in the other files you'll need to do this process will show you what's written where, but they have the partitions names. You can go into the CM12.1 thread OP on XDA for our phone and by clicking on the "d2vzw ROM Extras" link you can find all kinds of stuff, plus a few different partition tables that tell you how your phone is setup. There is other info in the OP itself about this and other topics related to flashing CM as well. (I'm the OP )
WARNING! Don't go into this haphazardly though. I would read through that thread thoroughly and see what if any success people are reporting, and ask questions. You don't want to ruin your phone!
It's in the "Android Development" forum in the root forum for our phone.
Report back on what you end up doing.:good:

Right okay cool thanks for that. I have bad news for you, because your phone has a locked bootloader it cannot be rooted at this point until an exploit is found. I even had a look over in the At&T s6 forums and there's not much going on. Sorry mate.

That sucks but thanks for the straightforward answer. But there's really 0 options for me at this point? Not even downgrading or flashing? (Just some terms I've picked up, don't exactly know what those mean)

Unfortunately not, downgrading is when going from one version to the previous, due to how samsung setup their bootloader, trying to say go from nougat to Marshmallow is not possible so you will always remain on nougat. Flashing is commonly done via a recovery and a piece of software called odin, every phone has a recovery but most root things need you to have a custom recovery like twrp this can only be achieved via having root, odin is used to flash stock Samsung firmwares. Hope that helps a bit. For the time being my advice to you is to keep looking at the s6 at&t forums from time to time, at some point they may come out with a root exploit that works.
Hi, not sure if this has been posted before or if I have posted in the wrong section so apologies if I may have.
Okay so I rooted my s8+ a few months ago and I decided yesterday that I want to unroot so I flashed a stock firmware. I found on updato, the version which I believed would be mine (SM-G955F, XEU version) as I purchased my s8+ in the UK unlocked. Anyway it all flashed fine but my device recognises the firmware as official but many apps (natwest, barclaycard, android pay Samsung pay) still say that it is rooted, unlocked bootloader etc. I disabled OEM but there is still no effect. Is there a way I can make my device recognise itself as genuine and not rooted etc without having to actually root it as some apps still do not work after rooting with magisk and twrp even though android pay does? Also now there are apps which I can not download from the app store such as netflix. PLEASE HELLP!! (I know I can download the apks but I want my phone to be as it was again) Its driving me insane, I just want everything back to normal as if I just purchased my s8+ brand new and have no modifications. (this is the last time I'm rooting a phone)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION!!

I don't have this device but, the following thread should be helpful for what you are looking for.

If all else fails in the above thread, then your best bet is to post this question within the following thread.

Hi guys!
I'll start this as I do many posts...but apologies if this is in the wrong place or if the questions have already been answered....
Been a while since my last post but I am a long time member and still in the phone game. Over the years I've had to focus on other areas of my life as time has gone by but I still find time to tinker on occasion. If there is a thread that adequately answers these questions please link it in the response. But again, so far, I have not been able to find the answers I need. I am about to install SafeStrape on the device anyway but thought I would throw out a line in hopes of getting a bite.
With that said, I have scoured the forums looking for a definite answer. From what I can gather it appears that if you have the 4.4.2 OTA update that you cannot unlock your bootloader....ever.
Is this the truth?
Can I downgrade to an earlier FW such as 4.1.1, etc?
If so, can I then use SafeStrape or will I even need to?
The reasons behind these questions is to determine if I will be able to root this beast or not? I am unsure what the original FW was on the device or if it came with 4.4.2 on it. I mention this as I cannot remember if you can downgrade if your device never had the older version of the FW you wish to downgrade to on it sometime in the past. Can someone verify if this is true as well please?
Thanks in advance all!!

It's impossible to downgrade any of the firmware versions for the d2vzw device. The Knox within the devices bootloader will prevent this from ever happening.
If any attempts are made to do this, you will take the chance at Soft/Hard Bricking your device (or even worse).
The versions "at & below" Android v4.3.0 AND the Firmware version "I535VZWCML1" CAN be unlocked.
Any versions "at & above" Android v4.3.0 AND the Firmware version "I535VZWCNC1" CANNOT be unlocked.
SafeStrap = NOT a Custom Recovery. It's only designed/themed to LOOK like TWRP because of its familiar look and such.
TWRP = Custom Recovery. This replaces the stock recovery.
I hope that I had clarified this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Thank you my friend!!
Ibuprophen,
Thank you for the info... It has been a long time since I have done anything with an S3, particularly a VZW S3. Btw, I've used a lot of the times you have hosted so thanks for those too.
Before I posted my thread I flashed a semi stock f/w with SU added. But the device went into the "Verizon has detected non approved software on this device, blah, blah, blah.".
I was able to flash the appropriate stock FW via Odin and got out of the aforementioned loop.
But anyway, you answered my questions brother . I appreciate your time and effort.
Have a good day!!!
Regards,
PAinguIN

Your very welcome![emoji106]
I have 2 d2vzw devices (with 1 of them that has an Unlocked Bootloader) and, though I don't use them as my primary device, I still use them for testing purposes (ie... my developments and such) but, their still a decent device to use when necessary.
Enjoy!
