dbrand skins for the 2nd Gen 2014 Moto X

I got an email from dbrand and they are planning on making a skin for our 2nd Gen Moto X! I have had a dbrand skin on my last three phones: Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Moto X (2013). If you haven't had the opportunity to deal with dbrand before, I can tell you from experience, they are a great company to work with, and they make a really quality product. I have attached a couple pictures of the skin on my now retired Moto X (2013). They said to expect them sometime in November. Hopefully they will join in this thread to keep us updated. They were very active in the Nexus 5 forum. I cant wait to slap on a skin!

yeah, i emailed them last week and asked if they were doing a Moto X 2014 skin. they got back to me within the hour and told me once that the Moto X 2014 skins should be out very shortly. the production got pushed back a bit because of the Nexus 6

I've been playing with the Nexus 6 on the site, and I dont know if I'm going to go with black leather, brushed titanium, or blue. Might have to get all three.

I bought a leather back and am kinda regretting it now. I might swap it so I can put one of these on!!

So this is tempting - I'm getting white bamboo, however the crappy part is you can't add dark metallic with white front, only black front. This could cure that problem. Go with the bamboo back, black front, red trim and then get a white matte front from db skins to out on. Anyone's thoughts?! I don't want to put something on a brand new phone and it seem cheesy...

I'm really keen on picking up one of these..the color ones most probably since we don't have a chance to use motomaker in my country (India).
Can anyone here who's used the dbrand skin before tell me if its really as textured as it looks on the website? I'm hoping so since that'll help with the 'grippiness' factor and not just look like a piece of colored paper stuck on.

That's how it looked on my oneplus one

I bought 3 skins for my N4. Black leather, titanium and mahogany. They all added grip, though the N4 has a glass back. The titanium was so textured I did not like it and gave it to my sister in law. Used mahogany the most, which I think is about as grippy as the matte black (only Canadian option) Moto X. Probably a little more grip clean but holds grease with use. I had no issues except after a while the inside of the nexus lettering came off, but that was over a year.
I will be getting a back sticker, still not sure which. I would love to see real life pics of the front and the accent ones as they look a little silly on the site.

I still haven't gotten mine. I preordered a few days before release and they shipped about 2 weeks ago. They ship from Canada by traditional postage and don't have tracking. The site says to allow 7-14 business days for delivery so hopefully soon.
I got the mahogany and the black carbon fiber.

I had one on my 13 X. It never peeled on me and when I decided to take it off, it left behind no evidence that it was ever there

I had dbrand skins for all my phones. Now for the corners to stick just use a hair dryer and keep applying pressure.

Dbrand is the bees knees....probably going to get a bamboo front skin to finish off the look

All that is good to hear. I originally planned on getting a black carbon skin but changed my mind to white last minute, the contrast between the metal frame and white looks like it will be sweet! Hope it comes soon
The bright colored ones seem to have a very high grip texture by the looks of it but those colors are just too bright for me. I was also tempted to get the black titanium one since I liked the texture on the body glove satin case.
I will post pics when it gets here.

ok, thoughts: cut is near perfect. I mean like only maybe a half mm off in certain places, but pretty much exactly the same size as the back. The camera and logo cutout are almost perfect. The skin does not cover the mic at the top and it also has a tiny hole for the mic at the bottom. Easy application. WELL worth the money IMO.

Just got mine today, and I am as impressed as I thought I would be. Fit is almost perfect, just a fraction out in places like my Nexus 4 was. The coloured back is not as grippy as I expected, the softouch is better for grip for sure. I feel like the mahogany (based on the Nexus 4) is a little better but I should let the blue wear a bit. On that note, the edge by the Moto dimple is apparent to my finger, but I think that will wear smooth eventually. I can confirm it is residue free when you remove from the softouch back since I applied it a few times trying to get it perfect.

I am not understanding this. You choose from leather, wood, or twenty some-odd other colors, and you'd rather cover it with a sheet of vinyl?
I can understand a case to protect against drops, but what purpose does this serve?

Best Color for Huawei Mate 9

Hi,
I am confused about the colours available in Mate 9. I went to the shop and liked Mocha Brown and Space Grey, but I am confused between them. Which one did you get ?
Any real world pictures would be nice too...

I bought the Space Gray US model because the screen is black which I like. The back I don't care what color it is because I always use a case. Mate 9 Space Gray is on the left, Mi Max in gold is on the right. I had the Mate 8 in Mocha Brown and it was almost a gold color, not very brown.

Likewise, I also want my device front to be black and as per the backside, if it is beautiful, why not ?
Currently I am using a Sony Xperia Z3 in Copper and it is so beautiful, I keep it naked. Even if gets somewhat scratched.
Hence, I am confused as to which color to go for... But hey, thanks for your valuable input.

I have mocha brown. It's the only colour Huawei distribute in New Zealand. Imo they all look pretty good though, it's really just a matter of personal preference.

The models with the dark front are best. You can see the screen black border with white color.

I settled for Space Grey in the end. The rear side is grey and the front is black. It may be conservative, but looks good on this phone.

I got the Champagne Gold and its stunning. It really looks so classy. And with the right case on it.....WOW!!

Btw. that include case is a bad joke. It looks and feels so cheap. Also after 2 days the glossy plastic is full of scratches.

Mirror Black. Glass is something new & better imo, (antennas) and if it's glass, don't make it to look like metal.

Not too fussed as it'll be thrown in a case and I'll not see it again until I sell it on ebay next year lol. I would prefer the Midnight Black though as it'll likely show less dirt and finger print smudges than the shiny Mirror finish version.

Midnight Black, the mirror black is only a fingerprint magnet.

Midnight Black, as it's the only one with 256GB of storage. But I'm getting a full body case as soon as I can anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Midnight, I really like its low profile elegance.
Last year seen a bit too much of glossy glass backs.
Dual tone looks good in glass, but single tone black is not appealing for me.

First time I'm actually torn between choosing a colour. All three look great to me.
I'm thinking mirror black just because it is said to have oleophobic coating, which would help remove fingerprints quite easily (inadvertent wiping when putting it in your pocket for example).
Im thinking midnight black just because it seems to be the safe choice, most clean/stealthy looking, and it's usually the type of colour I go for when purchasing smartphones.
Silk white because it has this beauty/elegance to it, with the rose gold trim.
I'm probably going to get opinions of friends and family and go from there, just because of how confused I am with the choices lol

The white for me, the should have done a gloss white version also as that would look really nice.
So how long till they start dropping the other colors? Oh wait, once everyone has already bought the device....just like always lol

They are just pricks and will release other colours and 256gb availability in a few mos. They always do this (along with other companies)

The results are in, and it seems it is a split between midnight black and silk white. Virtually no one recommended I get the mirror black because of fingerprints being visible all the time.
They also reminded me I'm a case person so that would end up hiding the gloss finish as well lol (given I don't use a clear case).
I'm still torn between the colours, but hey, at least it's now between two colours!

Silk white..... I am going to put a dbrand skin on it anyways, but when I don't have a skin on it I want it to be something that shows no fingerprints.

I went with mirror black because everyone else is buying midnight Black. ?
One a serious note, it won't really matter as the back will be covered by iron man case. ?
Plus, I can show off that mirror back when I want by just removing the case on special occasions. Haha ?

I liked the silk white, yesterday at the popup I got the midnight black - the back really hides fingerprints well - nothing like the reflective clear mirror black.

Midnight because of 256GB of storage, but I grabbed the nylon case too.

Flossy black!

I know it's only 16 votes so far but I am surprised that bronze and black share the lead right now. Bronze was heavily promoted by Samsung and tech bloggers seem to love it. I ordered that colour even without seeing it in real life, hope it lives up to the hype!

I like the bronze but it only comes in black for 512gb

Got Black as it's the only way to get 512Gb.

Got black for 512GB but I also feel (from the pics I have seen) that the bronze looks to close to rose gold. It's great to see so many people like the mystic bronze but it's just not my style, I'm more boring and always liked black. All my vehicles have either been black or white (tied at 2 a piece for white and black but my first car was grey so in the middle of the 2, lol). Also after I strayed from black phones to the coral blue Note 7 I feel cursed to stray from black again lol. Anyway, 512GB only on mystic black also forces my hand even if they had another colour. Why they don't make both colours optional 512GB is stupid but it's Samsung.

I agree. I really like the Mystic Green color, but it's only on the smaller note. And on top of 512GB in black only, no 256GB in the US ?
What irks me is that they'll release more colors later. Why not release all of them?

After going with Aura Glow last year on the Note 10+, I found myself wishing I had gone for Aura Black. I just love the look of the all black slab with the screen off. But I also HATE the greasy fingerprints on black, and I've been wanting a matte phone forever. I actually have a matte clear skin on the rear of my Aura Glow Note 10+, which made it just an irridescent silver color.
So I was all set on Mystic Black and had no interest in bronze. But after seeing it was a matte finish, I began looking a little closer at it. I finally pre-ordered it in bronze last night. After looking at it in person at Best Buy today, I feel confident I made the right choice. It really has a premium look to it, and I didn't really get a rose gold vibe from it. Plus if I get sick of it, I'll put a white skin on the back, which will look amazing with the bronze frame and camera mountain.

That's great to know that you got to see it in real life, a lot of reviewers say that the colour looks better in real life. Cameras seem to make it look more rose gold than bronze. I blindly ordered mine in Bronze because of the praise it was getting in reviews. So thank you for confirming I made the right choice )

Retailers often promote whatever they find themselves with a surplus of.

I was going to get the white, but went with bronze due to the matte finish. Was slightly tempted to the black only for the 512GB, but I have 128 in my current S20 Ultra and I don't use it all, plus will have an SD card waiting for the phone.

That's true of retailers trying to shift stock, but that doesn't apply in this case as we are talking about a product that's not released yet.
They promoted Aura Glow last year and it quickly became the 'must have' colour based on the feedback from reviewers. I still love it. So bronze is also taking the same reviewers by storm. I am confident it will still be the most popular, black being also popular but probably only because of the limitation on the 512Gb variant.

I've had my fill of boring black phones, it's what I've gone for on every device I've owned for years if a black option is available. So this time I fancied something different and went for the Green / Gold Pixel 7 Pro. A bit blingy you could say, and my wife said she really liked it when I showed her pics and her tastes with this type of thing have always been the opposite of mine (if it comes in rose gold, she'll have it) but if I get fed up on looking at it, I can stick a case on that covers it up.

I always stick my phones immediately into a Spigen case--so the color makes absolutely no difference to me.
Which means I generally order black. ;-)

Do kink of regret not going with Hazel, since that brass camera bar will be the only thing that shows.

I went with Snow because it was available, but would have preferred Hazel. Snow is beautiful too, though, and is my second favorite. But it will be my first phone that I put in a case, so it doesn't matter that much.

I kinda wanna try the Caseology Athlex black/green as well but I don't know if I'm gonna like it. Seems kinda bulky compared to the Spigen.

I'm boring. Since I was going to just slap it in a Spigen Tough Armor anyway, I went for obsidian.

I went with obsidian which does look pretty nice this time with the camera bump. It'll be in a case for me which is really a boring minimal black. It's the Spigen thin.

Well Best buy offered me 480 for my pixel 6 and I was able to buy a Pixel 6 pro for 290 with tax at Target when they were on clearance and I bought two of them so I traded my pixel 6 and my pixel 6 pro in and I got the hazel and the black p7pros. but usually I only get black. So now I got two seven pros and a pixel 6 pro. I'm digging it. This is the first time I've gone for a different color other than black.
Yeah Target had the pixel 6 pro marked down to 290 on clearance so I had called up target.com and I was like I need you to price match that and they were like okay but you got to find the store for me that's selling it. So I gave them just a random zip code in Florida and they found a store that was selling it for that price and they price matched it and then my delivery was running late and I thought it was lost so I told them I wanted to buy another one for that price because my first one may be lost. They were like okay, (my first phone showed up soon after though) so I got two pixel 6 pros for 290 a piece with tax, and then I traded My pixel 6 and my pixel 6 pro in for 480 & 545 trade in credit on Best buy and got two $200 gift cards. I really like pixel phones as you can tell
When it comes to pixel phones I'm like a monster. I'm getting mine. Nothing gets in the way between me and my pixel phones.

I bought the Snow color. I would have prefered the Lemongrass if it was offered for the Pro model. I'm not a big fan of the gold metal on the hazel option.
