[Q] Unable to mount data partition read/write

Hey
I'm trying to change from Prime to Revolution ROMs, but during wiping, I seem to be hitting a problem. When coming to wipe /data, it says it can't remove bootanimation.zip. I'm trying to go in via adb and do this manually, but it won't seem to let me mount /data as read write.
I'm using adb shell while in recovery, and it isn't giving an error message, just constantly staying as ro. This is using clockword recovery 3.2.0.1.
Anyone know what else I can try?
Thanks for your help.
Do you want to give it a try with root explorer?
Forgot to mention, since I've tried wiping, it now just bootloops. Recovery is all I can get into.
edit:
Just to make it clearer what's happening, I'll do it step by step:
- Load recovery, and open adb shell on my PC
-Mount data in recovery, check it in adb shell and it shows it as read/write
-Go to delete a directory or file, and it say's it's read only, check mounts and it's gone back to ro
-If I unmount and remount, it will go back to being RW, but then the same as above happens.
-My problem is when I try to wipe or format in recovery, it gives an error saying it can't delete a certain file
Managed to fix it now. It appears that while using the Superwipe Full script for Revolution ROM, the file table got completely messed up. I used parted to reformat the data partition as ext2, and I can boot now.
I've managed to get that awful Rom (Destroyer) Manager off of my TF101G and have got Rogue on via PERI and now I'm trying to flash the stock ASUS ICS Rom but can't delete the Dalvik Cache because I'm unable to mount /data
Code:
- - Wiping all user data - -
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sd-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure
Cache wipe complete.
Formatting /cache...
Cache wipe complete.
Wiping dalvik-cache...
Error mounting /data!
I'm assuming that /data is stuck on read only?
Manually fixing permissions and then mounting /data also shows the same error.

[Q] Modify Clockwork mod fstab

Is there a way to boot into clockworkmod, and make changes to the recovery files? I have a second partition on my sd card (formatted as ext3), but when I boot into CWM, the /etc/fstab file always has it listed as ext4. It will only mount the second partition if I manually mount it as ext3 (through adb). Is there a way to make a change to the /etc/fstab and /etc/recovery.fstab, and have those changes persist after a reboot?
This partition mounts perfectly fine booting normally, its just in CWM that I have issues.
Bump. Any way to permanently change the image and reapply them after updating CM?

No Data Directory

Title says it all. a lady brought me her moto g and on the screen all it had was no command and the android with the triangle !. so i booted it in to the bootloader and installed a custom recovery. tried to mount the sd card so i could recover her data off of it and it failed to mount so i tried mounting /data and it wouldnt mount and it says /data directory doesnt exist. /system would mount and several others would mount. so my question is, is this phone f***ed or is there a way to restore the /data directory through fastboot flashing?
Thanks for your time

Click to collapse
Try and reflash the system partition and boot into android. Then look for /data. /data might be corrupted...

Corrupt /sdcard

I tired flashing a ROM but it couldn't mount the /system so I formated everything in TWRP and tried again but this time the ZIP corrupted /data/media (/sdcard).
I'm getting E: Mount unable to find partition for path
as soon as I boot to TWRP (2.8.1.0).
I can't boot into system nor can I restore a backup. When I restore it it gets to restoring /data and fails.
I'm pretty sure /sdcard is my internal sd (because /external_sd is for the externad sdcard).

F2FS / EXT4 on /DATA partition

Im sure most of us now know /data is formatted as F2FS
i am trying to format /data as EXT4 for testing purposes however i cant get it to boot
i have added a line in the fstab for ext4 on the /data partition
once i format /data as ext4 in twrp i get a error saying that the device is corrupt and that i need to format/wipe my device
anyone have any ideas on how i can get this working please
ok no longer get 'device is corrupt' message
just stuck on the google icon with the bar loading - still no boot.
