I got a new Android TV Box (MX10) which is running Android 7.1.2
I want to set a live wallpaper like I have on my devices and other TV boxes. If I go through settings and change wallpaper and select live wallpaper (I installed several) and select one of the live wallpapers, the screen comes up and I can even edit the settings of the live wallpaper but I have no button to "set as wallpaper". All I have is a back arrow at the top which does nothing anyway. If I click to go back, the wallpaper is not set. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to stick.
If I select to pick a wallpaper from the gallery, I choose a picture and then it comes up with a rubber band box to select what part of the picture it will make as the wallpaper. Again, I can't get out of this screen either. No "set as wallpaper" button or anything else. If I go back, the wallpaper is not set.
I've tried using other apps to set the wallpaper but all they do is send me to the same UI which I can't get to work.
Is this an issue with Android 7.1.2, the live wallpaper apps, the Android TV box or me?
It seems like such a simple thing. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 but the wallpaper settings are handled by the Samsung Theme app.
Thanks for any help!

Hey Tim,
I also recently got an android tv box wth 7.1.2 and am having similar issues. I can't change the launchers (I tried Nova, ADW, AirLauncher.. but only Microsoft launcher works) or the wallpaper. I've read somewhere that 7.1.2 is more locked down than previous versions. Is your box rooted? Perhaps you could try flashing a custom ROM?
Having Same Issues
Does anyone know if there is
1. An update to Andriod TV 7.1.2 Firmware
2. A way to workaround the launcher issue, I can't get my box to keep (save) the launcher i select for default (TSF Launcher)
3. Allow for live HD Wallpaper

I installed the GO Launcher EX that came with the Google Apps RAR in the developer forum and noticed that I am unable to set my own custom wallpaper. I am only able to set a Live wallpaper or the default one that comes with GO Launcher EX. Anyone else have this problem?
When I attempt to do so, I go to the gallery, select my picture, crop and size it, then try to set it. It does the whole "Saving" thing but when returning back to the launcher, nothing has changed.
I've tried both from the Wallpaper option on "Menu" as well as under Theme Settings in GO Launcher EX.
Also, anyone know of a way to change the Amazon lock screen? The Amazon lock screen is still present after installing GO Launcher EX and will change the wallpaper to one of the random lock screen ones after turning off the screen and locking the device anyway...
Thanks in advance!!
EDIT: I should also note that I am rooted.
I have the same problem but am not rooted. I would love to disable Amazon's rotating wallpaper in favor of one of Go Laucher's.
I was planning on going into the system files and locate the folder its pulling the wallpapers from. Hopefully all we have to do is replace them with the wallpapers we like. Go launcher wallpaper doesn't shift left and right for me either when screen moving.

the problem seems to lie in the Fire's own stock lock screen. given the fact that it is rooted, see if you can disable the stock lock screen (using No Lock from the android market) and replacing it with something like Go Locker or WidgetLocker (though some say WidgetLocker doesn't work well)

The wallpaper for the launcher is located in the launchers apk. The wallpapers for the lockscreen are in framework-res.apk the standard place for an aftermarket launcher to pull wallpapers from is framework-res.apk (correct me if I'm wrong. The rom would pretty much have to be custom to fix this. Therefore it would be best for us to get a working recovery(twrp or clockwork using short presses to move through menus and long presses to select) then focus on ICS or HC(probably better off ICS) so we have a soft home, menu, back button.
Then changing wallpapers would be a breeze.

I got no lock to work. Same solution used to get Android Market to work. Get Titanium Backup installed (need the paid version) and you can use it to change the installed No Lock app to a system app. Reboot and it works fine. Will need to have your Kindle Fire Rooted.
Ok, Now I have No Log working, but how do I replace the Lock Screen?
GO Launcher EX wallpaper, make it stick
It's not a question of disabling the locker; regardless of whether the phone locks or not, the default Kindle slider screen appears on wake-up, and after sliding, the default Kindle wallpaper is there instead of GO Launcher's wallpaper.
I, too, am greatly annoyed by this.
If pyrostic is right, then regrettably there's no simple way to fix this. Which would suck. (Many of us are not developers.)
Widget locker works well for changing the lockscreen wallpaper at least..

It won't stay after you restart.
Benjyp's procedure worked for me. I posted more specifics about what you can do about them.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355267
OK. I've got the wallpapers to not change back to the Amazon ones by changing permissions on the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper file, but I can't get scrollable wallpapers to work. I'm using the long rainbow one that came with Go Launcher but it's fixed and won't scroll. I've tried changing the settings in Go Launcher to the Default setting (to allow scrolling wallpapers) but that didn't help.
Anyone else having this problem?
Would you mind sharing how you changed permissions? I.e. what app used and changed from/to what?
My mom downloaded a live wallpaper and like the others, it keeps getting changed back.
so to stop it from changing wallpapers you have to root it?
yea gotta root to stop it from changing wallpapers. I feel like a solution will come out that doesnt require root...hopefully

Hi all,
Sorry for the silly question, but this is driving me mad. I tried everything I could think of, followed a few tips, but still have the same picture...
I want to have a picture of mine I downloaded to the phone, I selected it from settings but it doesn't work of course.
I am on MIUI 7 by Xiaomi.eu 5.12.4 beta
I tried it from the settings screen but only option seems to be to choose online, other options seem to be for main wallpaper and changing them has no effect... I use MultiPicture Live wallpaper as a wallpaper, and even tried an option there to change the lockscreen.
Any tips?
Thanks,
Julien

I think you use a custom launcher? If yes, you have to go to settings, apps, default and then chose stock miui launcher as default launcher. On the stock launcher homescreen you can then swipe with 2 fingers (1 from the left side of the screen and 1 from the right side of the screen, towards the middle of the screen). Then you can change the lockscreen wallpaper. After that you can change back to your other launcher. This is a known bug/feature
Thanks. Will try this now! You are right, i am using Google now as launcher
It worked a treat. Thanks again!
I hope they fix this sometime, because this is a pain in the ass
I'm using Nova launcher and recently got the new Google Pixel live wallpapers.
After installing, I found out I was only able to set the home screen with a LWP...There was no lock screen option.
Can someone point me to any possible solution on how to set a LWP on lock screen?
Thanks
Btw, I'm on nougat

On nougat beta, there is no wallpaper option in settings.
I know on marshmallow there was one.
heya
is there anyone find an solution?
Saw on a galaxy A5, nougat, that we can set the livewallpaper on lock and home screens ...
But still cannot on S7
Both phones on nova launcher and both on nougat ..
Thanks by advance
Try not to set it from the Nova or your device Settings. Open the wallpaper you want to use, open it via Gallery app, and set it as wallpaper. It should give you these options:
1. Home screen
2. Lock screen
3. Home and lock screens
If not, use a third party app.
nope that don't give these options.. That only do with pictures, but not with animated wallpaper. That's the issue
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, and I can easily set a Live wallpaper on Lockscreen by going into Settings - Wallpapers and themes.
Then click VIEW ALL, then click in the three dot from the upper right conner, and you'll see the option: Live wallpapers. From ther you can add also to your Lockscreen a Live wallpaper.
I just tested this, just to see if it works, and it does work.
I don't usually use Live wallpapers though, I use simple ones.
I don't know what to say. Apparently stuff just works on some phones and on some, doesn't work. Weirdest thing.
I am loocking for this, with all launchers i can , since months.
I dont have this setting avaiable.
I tough it was with nougat.. but i just saw it was possible with my work's samsung a5...
Very weird indeed
Try to sideload the S8 Launcher. Or google Pixel Launcher. I know you said you tried different launchers, but maybe you missed one. Sideload the apk's on your phone.
Or, if you are rooted, try a custom ROM, or another custom ROM, if you already have one installed.
Ive tried them too.
Ive also tried sames launchers on my nougat galaxyA5 , then the setting is avaiable.
Im on stock rom on S7 , non root.
I guess i have to try another country stock rom...
Wait it is really somehow possible to have live wallpapers on the lock screen!?
I just looked for the option and can't find it anywhere...
Am I just blind or is there not an option to choose a live wallpaper for the background on the S8+?
I'm using Nova launcher and it's just a long press on the desktop, choose wallpaper icon and then the live wallpapers are last in the list over to the right. That said, some of the stock wallpapers seem to stop and start for no reason!
I can't find it either on the stock launcher. I can't get rid of the infinity live wallpaper on the always on display either.
It's in settings > wallpapers for sick, it's the first four wallpapers with a tiny play button in the upper right corner.
They call them infinity wallpapers, you do it through their theme app thing

Which clock did you pick? Depending on which clock you picked, you're gonna see the live wallpaper on the AOD. I know you won't see the wallpaper if you pick the calendar one. That's the one I'm using.
It's the default set one.

Those are different from live wallpapers. I have several live wallpapers installed and none show up. I think this is a bug. I read somewhere earlier that this is fixed in Android 7.1.2 which I don't have yet. I'm on Verizon and am running 7.0.
Yeah I can't figure it out either...
I use 3d Parallax Backgrounds, and these live wallpapers seem fine. Although I have to use the app to set them. As I also don't see the stock option for live wallpaper.
Samsung removed it with nougat. Here a link to a app to use live wallpapers https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/app-7-0-live-wallpaper-picker-home-lock-t3503347 Use the 1.21 final one

If you download a wallpaper called blow them all live wallpaper it comes with a separate app to apply this wallpaper but it also lists all other live wallpapers you have downloaded which don't show up on the phone itself so you can apply any live wallpaper you download through this app, there is a free and paid version of this app, the free one works fine for doing this, just open the app click set wallpaper and your list of all downloaded live wallpapers will pop up
anyone has the Whale Wallpaper of S8 ?
the one we see in Adds of S8
Solution!
As mentioned by someone else downloading "Blow them all Live Wallpaper" makes it possible to see all other live wallpapers you have downloaded. Go to the settings for the "Blow ...." and go to "set wallpaper". There they will be.
With all the live wallpapers I used you run the live wallpaper from it's app icon and it allows you to set it.
Easier solution
At the end of the route of "My Wallpapers" click the last thumbnail with the plus sign on it, then click the triple-dots and select Live Wallpapers. You should see you're installed live wallpapers.
Here's what I've been using to set them https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/app-7-0-live-wallpaper-picker-home-lock-t3503347
Edit: doesn't work for me now, used to use on my s7 nougat

Go to Settings -> Wallpapers & Themes -> My Wallpapers -> Three Dots in upper right corner of screen -> Live Wallpapers. It should be the only option in the pop-up menu that appears. It has been there since day one on my verizon s8+.
I'm using the Live Wallpaper Picker from here on my S8+ and Note 8.

This is the right answer, folks. Samsung has certainly not removed a built-in way to do this, but the location of the option is buried a little deeper than it should be.
If you download an app that can display and make shortcuts to "activities" (Tasker, QuickShortcutMaker, probably many more), you can create a shortcut to the built-in activity to avoid having to use Samsung's theming app to apply an installed live wallpaper.

Just downloaded google wallpapers and the live one are great - pixel 2 wallpapers work great
does anyone know why you can't install those live wallpaper in newer versions of Android anymore? I've noticed many people lost them when you'd upgrade your Android version to lollipop but i might be wrong, i suppose it must be something in the code that is currently outdated?
Here’s how to do it in Android 10 or Android 11.
Download a wallpaper from the Google Play store.
Press and hold on any home screen.
Tap the Wallpaper & Theme icon at the bottom of the screen or Wallpaper & Styles from the pop-up menu.
Tap Live Wallpapers.
Select a live wallpaper from the list.
Alternately, just tap on the Wallpaper app icon and follow the prompts to adjust the settings.
If you’re using a weather-based app, be sure to enable your location.
Tap Apply or Set to set the live wallpaper as your background.
Hello. I am new here. if there was any way I could upload a custom animated wallpaper and use it.
