Using fingerprint sensor in 3rd party apps - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Helo,
Today I was helping a friend setup something on her HTC U11 and we realized that no matter what, a third-party app canot access the fingerprint sensor. We have tried Macrodroid and Talkback and in neither case would any action assigned to a gesture be performed when triggered. In both apps the respective accessibility services were activated and the phone is updated to Oreo so everything should be fine.
Is HTC blocking their fjngerprint sensors so that other apps canot make use of it? What have been your experiences in that regard?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

I've had zero issue with the fp reader on any app. Google, BoA, Authy....everything works. You might try resetting your FP settings (remove and re-add them) and try again.

No problems here too, fingerprint works on different apps here (Binance, Banking, etc.).
What are you trying to accomplish with the fingerprint sensor in for example Macrodroid?

Hi! Thanks for your answers.
I'm not sure whether she tried it for the standard authorization purpose. What we wanted to do is assigning a gesture so that she could pick up calls by swiping or touching the sensor. Apparently it was possible to perform certain actions with an app called Fngerprint Sensor Gestures but this one must be working somewhat differently as it even works on Galaxy S7 running Nougat.
As of Oreo, there is a way for accessibility services to perform custom actions on fingerprint sensor gestures and both Talkback and Macrodroid offer these in their latest versions, however we can't make it work on the U11.

Works fine for my in Lastpass and the Play Store

HTC U11 doesn't support fingerpint gestures, it only validates if the fingerprint is valid or not or if it was a quick tap, so no more actions can be used (swipe and etc.).

Thanks for the response. As I thought. A huge pity though.

Yes, that and an RGB led for custom notification, that's two things that HTC needs to improve, then the device is perfect.

Disable screen lock

Hi all,
I installed the app CM Locker , but I can not turn off the standard locker .
When I unlock the screen first appears lock HUAWEI , and later CM LOCKER. I now have 2 locks .
How to turn it off ?
Go to security settings.
Turn on "Disable Huawei unlock"
Look in Screen Lock and see if CM Locker appears in the list as a choice. I'm not going to install it to test this because I use the fingerprint scanner anyway.
It works. tx bro

Double Tap to Wake & Double Tap to Sleep on Honor

Hi,
Do you want if there is an option for D2W and D2S in Honor 8? Or any other way to put the screen to sleep apart from the power button? My last phone was G3 and I have to say I miss this feature.
Thanks!

try Nova Launcher
Knock setting:
Screen type- Black Screen
Power Management -(ticked)
Capacitive Buttons - (ticked)
Screen Locked - (ticked)
Action Type - Gestures
(Everything else
just left default))))
Friendly reminder:
In fact, the screen is turned into black, but
not deep-sleep. It might drain the phone's
battery.

You can use Non-Root Ad-Blockers. You have many options such as AdGuard or NetGuard. I haven't tested these two, but people claim they are great and even block ads from within apps, though they reportedly slow down your connection, as they work as some kind of VPN, if I understood it right. I personally use DNS66, which is absolutely phenomenal. It blocks all ads and doesn't slow down your connection, nor does it affect your battery life at all.

[Q] Disable burst photos?

Has anyone figured out to disable burst mode when taking pictures in Auto mode? I remember the Note 3 had the option to disable the option, but no such toggle can be found in the camera settings on the 8.
Good question, anyone can help?

I've looked, as well, but read that it cannot be disabled. If you're concerned about getting a blurred picture because of having to touch the screen (which moves the camera), try using the voice commands for taking pictures.
I've heard some people are having problems with the burst taking like over 100 pictures and not stopping. I luckily haven't experienced this.
I think it's also possible to set one of the volume buttons to take the picture.

I may have to try that, it's possible they just don't give an option to disable it. It'd be nice to have that option though. It'd be easy enough to add with an update.

Lenovo K4 Note - proximity problem

Hello to everybody. I needed to advise on the proximity sensor settings in Engeneer Mode. I accidentally erased the settings. The display darkens during a call, but it takes some 10 seconds to move away from the ear.
I've tried a lot of apps to repair and reset the sensor, but it did not fix it. Also, the original ROM did not help.
Does anyone know how to fix ???
Thank you
