Hey guys, so I just found out about this site and am a super noob but managed to Root my ATT S7 last night. I have been trying to install the Xposed framework but it looks like I cant get a custom recovery program onto my S7. Does anyone know how to get TWRP or CWM or any custom recovery onto the 930A? Or for that matter, Xposed install without a custom recovery?

Actually I found out how to do everything and make it pretty smooth. Rooted, with Xposed and a bunch of fixes to make it almost as smooth as stock. Let me know if you are still looking.

Sure, I'll start from the beginning in case any other new people are wondering.
Basically, back up your files and restore your phone to factory so the root goes smoother.
Then proceed to this thread for the root. Oh yeah, install adb if you don't have it. They dont mention it and assume you know what it is, which noobs like me don't.
After a clean root, install Flashfire (you may need to disable samsung updates and reset the phones clock back to 2012 or something if Flashfire doesn't want to start). I used 0.31, maybe the newest will work? Easy to find in google.
On page 8 of the Root thread, there is a dropbox link to the Xposed apk and zip (Here). Move them to your phone and install the apk, then use Flashfire to boot the zip.
I think that's pretty much it, Xposed should be running after the Flashfire reboot (which can take a long time as it will Optimize apps).
psouza4 has an awesome thread on what to do after Root and Xposed to make the phone run smoother.
If you do something wrong and absolutely can't fix it, see here for re-flashing back to stock.
Hope this helps someone, took me about 2 days to search all of this out. The AT&T S7 is such a pain in the ass with it's locked bootloader, but this place is > AT&T!

Titanium Backup works fine. Any apps that use SafetyNet(Android Pay, Snapchat, etc) won't work once you unlock your bootloader/root.

Snapchat, and most banking apps. Except simple and chase that I know of.
There are still tons of warnings of permanent bad things happening if you relock the bootloader without stock software installed. I know no details but I recommend you research that first before starting anything.
What if you just root to modify the hosts file, then into it and lock? Seems like that should be fine
I know one workaround for Snapchat used to be unlocking the bootloader, installing the app and logging in, then rooting. Any word on if that still applies? I'm using a 2014 Moto X still on Lollipop, so I'm afraid I'm a touch out of the loop.

Test and find out if you still get yellow warning at boot. If no warning... Maybe you won't be potentially bricked by red lockout if you lock.
If you you see yellow warning, certainly that is not fine.
Sent from my sailfish using XDA Labs
Apparently, as I've been informed, to lock the BL again, you will have to do a wipe, so no good.
Just flash a custom kernel, they bypass the bootloader unlock check for safetynet. Doesnt' help you with root though
Yeah, I might end up doing that. So SafetyNet detects systemless root now?

Oh I didn't know that. I did root. Any way to hide that too?
I see a lot of custom ROMs on https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development but I am not sure which to use. My main goal is to remove all the builtin Samsung apps that I cannot disable/uninstall like Calendar and Internet. I started looking at SuperMan but then saw it has a lot of other enhancements too. I also want to avoid my device being rooted because I have to install apps that won't install if my phone is rooted (GFE/BlackBerry Work).
LineageOS or Resurrection Remix.
Just disable the Samsung apps you don't want. That's the only remedy for you.
SuperMan is probably the closest you'll get to stock. If that's too far off, I'm not really sure of any other options. You could temporarily root and try removing the offending apps, I'm not sure how much the system depends on them.
There's also the option of Magisk (Systemless) root, which shouldn't effect root-adverse apps.
I have rooted stock G930F rom with Magisk and removed close to a 100 system apps. No bugs, no crashes, and it is the best rom there is, if you tweak it right. Btw, you can hide root with Magisk and install your apps.

Please take my advice:
Do NOT root your device.
Cause that has some side effects and nearly no benefits:
You won't be able to encrypt your phone again.
You'll have to install magisk to get some things to work
Do NOT install an AOKP based ROM cause there are severe bluetooth bugs.
Just install "BK Package Disabler (Samsung)" on stockrom and get rid of Samsungs bloatware.
PS:
I'm back to stockrom after installing LOS and I regret that step, cause it tripped the knox-bit.
Perhaps the BT bugs will be fixed in future; then I'll give LOS another shot.
Lol @ this lad above, get your facts straight.
On-topic: I followed root instructions from galaxys7root. For the debloating part, there is a topic called "Debloat your S7" or something like that, which helped me uninstall most of the apps, and the other ones I just uninstalled cause I didn't need them.

Rooting went flawlessly.
I took the TWRP / Magisk way.
OK, loosing all the data is quite normal, when formating data, to get rid of the encryption.
But it trips your knox-fuse with the following consequences:
S-Health does not work anymore. OK, there is a build.prop hack to get it working.
OTA updates will not work anymore.
S-Pay (and others) is said to not work anymore.
Encryption does not work or is risky (look at Chainfires post):
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72204306&postcount=978
No one knows, how long safetynet will be covered by Magisk. Btw.: Magisk is great!
If I am wrong at any point, pls correct me.
I only rooted to use LOS. But there are too many errors atm.
So I returned to stock and have to live with these issues.
So it depends on your usecase.
If you just want to debloat your stockrom, use BK- disabler.
If you want more, root it.

Hello
Here is the Update for Dual Speaker Mod for S8/S8+.
Nougat Version of Mod won't work on Android Oreo.
Here below you find the Updated mod for Android Oreo.
Tested and Works on S8/S8+ (Exenos) Android 8.0. 100% Works
Not yet tested on SD Variant.
Download Zip file below and flash it via TWRP recovery .
Also Upload Root Browser Method....
Just Extract Root Browser Method.rar and copy the files to System/etc and change permission and reboot
Remove Mod Added. You just back to Stock anytime. Just flash it via TWRP
I unfortunately installed the Nouget version on and Oreo ROM, and now I'm in bootloop! Any idea how to get out of it?
Works fine. Headphones sounds good, no changes there. I flashed via TWRP and that's it...
Thank you!
You should make a remove method...I know, maybe someone wants to remove this mod without reset.
Keep going and good luck!

Hi, thanks for the stereo speaker mod, it works very well on android 8.
I'm wondering if Is it to possible to let the user change the balance between the top and the bottom speakers ?
Should i concern about earpiece i mean will this cause any damage to earpiece as it wasnt intentionally designed for this purpose by samsung.
After install this mod, i have experienced problems with Netflix app. Like inifite loading or error 5.2. How can i solve this problems? thanks
Edit: this error happen everytime, i can't use the app.
Edit²: I have the solution, just go to /system/liboencrypto.so and change to liboencrypto.so.bak - i recommend to use ES Explorer and turn on the root mode.

Due to the lack of pie support of the pay solution at the moment, you can downgrade your phone to OREO, install the solution, take a picture and upgrade your phone to PIE again.
You need newflasher v13 from XDA and the stock Oreo ROM I uploaded in the TWRP thread.
And a downgrade requires factory reset.
Because of the encryption.

Root your phone, backup your apps with Titanium Backup
Downgrade to the Oreo firmware I uploaded there, use xperifix as DRMfix.

Upgrade to PIE and reinstall your apps with Titanium Backup.
Titanium Backup and xperifix costs some €/$
Then wait for xperifix PIE release to get your 100% photo quality back.
