Firesticks 2nd gen - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I cast videos and movies from my tablet to my fire stick using display mirroring. Is the sound in surround if the source is 5.1. not sure if it's possible or not. Any other workaround options appreciated. Tablet doesn't have mini hdmi out. Thanks

Can't watch Google Movies over HDMI out ?

So I rented a movie using the new Movies tab on my Transformer. I plugged in the HDMI out to my big TV and everything seemed to work fine, launcher showing and everything.
When I tried to play the movie the screen went black on both the transformer and the TV, but the sound still played from the movie over the TV speakers. If I unplug the HDMI cable the movie instantly works on the Transformer.
Are we not able to push Google Movies out of the HDMI port ? Maybe I just have a bad cable ? Everything else works fine though.
Anyone else have this issue ?
Download a test MP4 file from somewhere and try.
HDMI protocol implementation
I think its due to differences between HDMI protocol implementation on the devices on both sides of the cable. It happened a lot with other devices like HMDI out on ATI graphics cards and certain audio/video receivers like Yamaha. Also, early HDMI 1.3x specification was not implemented correctly on many devices...
I'm afraid its the same case with the Transformer and certain TV's. Some people report HDMI-out works on Samsung's...others have problem with Sony's...
The real problem is...where's the fault...should TV makers update their firmware (lot of newer TV's can be upgraded!) or should Asus update their Transformer firmware for more compatibility with peer devices?
Don't have an MP4 on hand, not a big recording/movie buff.
It doesn't work on either of my computer monitors either
I have the same problem. I have several mp4 movies that I've encoded myself and they all play just fine. This is a problem with the Videos app, and not the Transformer or the TV.

[Q] [ROM 117][Team EOS 4] [Katkernal103] wireless display (Miracast)

JB 4.2.2. has the possibility to use Miracast. How can I activate this feature in the EOS 4 Rom?
Is it build into the Rom?
I can't find the option " Wireless Display in display settings. I've seen pictures of displaysettingspanel from JB 4.2.2 where this option is available (Nexus)
What do I have to do to use this Jelly Bean Feature?
Thank You
Miracast uses 5 GHz wireless, not 2.4 GHz.
To make it work you will need to add a 5 GHz radio.
Afaik, the only Nexus device that supports it is the Nexus 4 and maybe the Nexus 10.
Thank you for your answer.
May be you know how i can display my transformer screen on samsung smart tv.

I want to use the tv-screen for projection of powerpoint presentations from my tf101.

Mini HDMI > HDMI lead
Connect PC > TV and control PC on TF101 using Splashtop
Thanks for your answer.
So a direct method is not possible.
I ll try your suggestions

[Q] Which would you recommend: Chromecast or Miracast

I am still debating on which dongle I should purchase. Forget price. My concern is capability. I know Miracast can cast your whole screen to a tv, but can you cast your pc as well to the tv with a miracast dongle? Further, I hear there is lag with Miracast, but is that true with the video? Will the video still stay in sync with audio when playing on the big screen? I know Chromecast has lag with the chrome tabs, but not with Video.
My gripes with Chromecast is, if Miracast plays video perfectly but lags just with the regular screen, why buy Chromecast? It is essentially the same with some more enhancements. However, I am suspected that Chromecast may have a brighter future. Will Chromecast support games and will the open their SDK up for everyone to use? Will it support screencasting one day?
Which would you recommend and why? I am in sort of a dilemma with this...

Moto G 2nd Gen output to TV

Have a Moto G 2nd Gen dual SIM. I believe that it doesn't support HDMI out on its USB port so what way can I get stuff from Moto G to display on my Smart TV?
I'm talking videos mainly, taken on the phone, and also streaming from apps, websites etc.
On YouTube I can cast to my TV fine as there's a specific button, but what about other apps?
Thanks

The Chromecast app lets you broadcast whatever's on your screen, but it only works with certain phones. You could give that a try. I'd post the play store link but I'm still under 10 posts so I can't.
Check the Moto G FAQ - Miracast screen-mirroring is supported with build.prop edit.

Android TV box/stick to stream from laptop

Hello,
I'm new here so please pardon my 'newbiness' .
I've been searching around for an affordable tv box/stick that would enable me to:
1. Stream my laptop's desktop on my Smart TV. My idea is to use a wireless keyboard and mouse and do some work on my laptop, but sitting on the couch and looking my Smart TV.
2. Stream my xbmc from my laptop in HD quality to my Smart TV. I would love to stream Movies and TV series from my laptop's XBMC to my Smart Tv in HD quality without any lap or errors.
Is this doable with a TV stick or TV box that is affordable?
Thank you for your time and looking forward to your replays.
Kind Regards,
Luka
I am pretty new to TV streaming etc and am having a lot of fun with a cheap UBOX I bought. reading what you say though suggests to me that you don't need to spend any money at all!
if you are happy using your laptop in the way that you say (and assuming it has an hdmi slot) -why not simply run an HDMI cable to the TV and clone the screens?
perhaps I'm being dumb here, but methinks you are complicating matters -
all the many cheap boxes one can get will simply plug into your tv, pick up your wifi, run kodi etc and away you go -
so why bother with the laptop at all?
Also what do you class as "cheap"? What's your budget?
just these simple usages,u ve got 2 ways,1st,buy a wifi display stick,2nd,hdmi direct plug
