Hi all
Just a quick one. Can anybody tell me what phone/message app or icon/theme pack the attached message has been screen shot from ?
Personally I think it's from an iPhone but not sure.
The long and short of it is this message is supposed to be from two different people but I'm using a bit of common and I think they both same person as both bubbles reside on same side.
Not a normal request I know lol any input welcome cheers.

I want to be able to send a text to a group of 7 or 8 people. Can I set something up on Windows Mobile 6 so I don't have to keep adding these people separately?
Try this

Hopefully one of these suggested so far will be just what you were looking for.....failing that, there's always Google
HTH,

Has anyone used them? Can anyone recommend one of the others?

Dude, start typing names into the "to" field with the keyboard. Auto-complete pops up the names of your contacts so all you have to do is select them.
People make too big of a deal about this issue, IMO...
But if it's 20 or 30 people and your have to start typing them each time, that's still maybe 3 or 4 minute job. Also, you have to fish out your list each time to check who needs them.
Compared to being able to type 'Football' or something instead. Myself, I would say it's quite a decent time/hassle saver...
The first link I posted above should work well for you; it's "category-centric", so if you create a "Football" contact category you can assign the required contacts to that category. When using the GroupSMS program, it will list the categories you have defined and you can then pick one (or more); then you just enter the message you want to send....job done!
Read the threads, try 'em out.....
Mark.
Is there any text expansion application and is it possible to make one? Developers? I need it so much.

do you mean make texts that are over 160 characters into one text instead of splitting it up?
I think handcent SMS does that now
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms
I mean like this.
You write short keyword and the app expands it where you are typing.
For example if I am writing a mail and i write:
personalSignature and it expands to my full personal signature: Best wishes, Dimitar... at company.... and so on

Smart Keyboard Pro has that function. There may be other keyboards with the function too, but Smart Keyboard I know for sure. Its known as "Custom Autotext"
Yeah I know some keyboards have that, but i look for separate application, i like my current keyboard. Though i think it might not be possible to build an app like this because of the way that android separates different apps by not allowing them to interact.
I was looking for something similar when I started using Android (but that was over a year ago). Only solution I found was custom autotext. I'm using SmartKeyboardPro.

Since this question was asked more than a year ago, I am bumping the thread and hoping for an answer.
For example, if you write "!hhh" it automatically changes to "hey how are you?"
On the iphone, the cydia app Xpandr used to do this
One of the problems I have with today's texting apps is that they are all essentially the same. Sure emoticons and group conversations are fun, but there is limited flexibility with what you can and can not do. For example, why can't we customize text layouts, embed youtube videos into our conversations, etc.
I came up with a solution by creating a basic, elementary texting app without any of the perks. What I want to do is get as much feed back as possible to build out the texting app that people want to use. Once users see that we take their ideas and implement them into the app, they will be more excited to share it with their friends.
So if anyone is interested in creating their own app, download Skoop Messenger in google play and let me know what you think. Check out the Skoop Messenger Facebook page for details.
Not sure I understand what you are proposing
that isn't already handled by email and/or IM?
looks a lot like the other sms/text apps out there already. not sure whats different.
There's a very good reason that they're all essentially the same and that's because of the age old saying -
If it's not broke, don't fix it!

With generic things like texting, the majority of people don't like change. Texting on phones is nice and simple and if too many features are added, texting will become much harder work than it needs to be.

I would like to see a talk to text app that actually works good, with the option to talk letters instead of words, another option would be like Xbox 360 where you can leave a voice message or video message, all in the same app, Maybe a way to customize and use a graphic signature instead of a text signature. Changing font of texts or colors, stuff like that I can see being used. Maybe having some music in the background when you are reading or have a text message open. A translater built in to the app, so if someone sends you a message in Chinese, you can press a button and the text then converts in english. Just throwing some ideas out there.
I don't buy into that " if it a broke dont fix it" Where would we be today if we did not constantly look to improve things? Probably in a cave beating each other over the heads with clubs and worshipping fire. This thread was started becuase someone asked for ideas on improving text messaging and all the responses have been anti-productive. Use your imagination people.

Mine wasn't anti-productive. It was truthful.
Off-topic - Even if we were still cave people, would that really be a problem? Of course not, because we'd be used to that. Yeah, mankind strides to improve things, but at lot of the time, the situation with this thread included, it's not needed.

Relax guys.
I have to agree with both. If it's not broken in any way, why fix it - it might cause problems there weren't there in the first place. The main reason something is popiular is because it works. But then again, there's always room for improvement/innovation, right? I mean, that's how we got our devices now.
On topic: i can't find the app.
Sorry for butting in. It's just my opinion.

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to install an apk to a folder on my SD which will limit the potential size that the apk will grow to. Any advice? Appreciated !
I first thought of creating a separate partition on the SDcard to install the apk to, but I'd like to do that without formatting (wiping the SDcard)?

Thank you, I'm finding my way about the site.
Unrelated: I was in a website the other day and noticed they have some really nice layout buttons for responding. What do you think? (Screenshot attached).
I thought they'd look pretty nifty on XDA.

They look similar to the XDA buttons (I use the 2013 theme). Buttons are buttons to me, as long as they're in the right spot I'm happy.
What do you use the 2013 theme for, do you have a website I can check out?
I just mention the design as I found the buttons on XDA a little confusing at first and some other members, well one, (in particular) said that I had quoted too long or something like that.
So I was just wondering about it and I noticed this little layout when I was on another website. I just thought I'd mention it. It looks quite nice and self explanatory. As a new member I found the respond buttons a little bit confusing. Would you be kind enough to explain to me what the button that looks like a one of a pair of speech marks is for exactly (I say one of a pair, as in the UK we use double quotation marks). When one uses the reply button and the auto quote goes into the field, do you then have to then just delete that each time, or is there a way around that?
I'm just wondering.
I was also wondering, you might be able to give me some advice on the best way to respond on these forums. Is there an app that you can suggest that would be particularly good for responding on XDA and other forums in general?
I tried Tapatalk once before and found it glitchy, like it had its own agenda and wanted to wiz me around all over the net instead of being functional.

If you scroll down to the bottom of any page here you'll find a bar on the left that says "XDA 2015". If you click that there's a drop down menu that brings up all the themes you can use. I use the XDA 2013 beta because I think that has the cleanest layout.
The speech marks always refer to quoting a post which is what I just did now. You can edit what your quoting and delete parts out of it. Just play around with the editor and you'll get it. As for an app, try XDA labs. You can click the banner in my signature to go to that thread.

I've had a look in the "groups" section. There doesn't appear to be all that much activity in there (at least in the groups I looked at).
Can you suggest a good group, or place (area) for hanging out and perhaps learning a bit more about Android, app making and what's going on @ the scene as a whole?
If you are here, chances are that you have already received a message that goes like this:
"If you touch theblack point then your messenger will hang
? "*The text provided here has been modified so that your device doesn't crashes while reading this!*
This message seems to crash any android device! So whats really happening here?
Well, I am not a geek but as per my knowledge, the little space after the finger emoji contains over 3.9k characters! That little thing is causing all the problems! The ORIGINAL TEXT and other further details about this text is in the following video:
youtube com/watch?v=oBVBE0R_JZ0 [I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO POST THE LINK DUE TO SOME REASON SO PLEASE ADD IN A DOT IN BETWEEN YOUTUBE COM, THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING!]
Hope you guys got to learn something.
