My phone is on 20k and I am being prompted to update to 20n
Is it safe for me to take this update? I dont want to lose the ability to root my phone in the future. Please advise me, thank you
Bump. Anybody? Its a yes or no question. Please advise me.

Sorry, I already posted this in the main G3 forum and am not sure how to remove that one, seems more appropriate here.
I would like to install a custom rom but I am wondering if any of the unlock methods work after installing the latest ATT OTA update (which was forced to my phone) D85010f. If so could you pleas provide a link/steps? I'm tech savvy but a recent iPhone convert so this is new to me. Thanks!
I believe you can still use stump root to root, and then bump will work after that. If not there are instructions around here somewhere to downgrade back to 10d, and then you can root and bump, then install the prerooted 10f ROM.

Hi guys,
I hope somebody can help me out. I have a G2 on stock 4.4.3 kitkat D80020y. I was rooted with stumproot but still on stock recovery. Then I heard the lollipop OTA coming out and in trying to prepare for it I "unrooted" the phone by choosing permanent unroot in Supersu app. Following that when I checked for OTA and it wasn't showing up, I realised it won't show up as I was on T mobile.
So, I thought that's easy, let me just root again with stump root and manually install it. But the problem is Stumproot is now unable to root my phone!
What's the easiest thing to do from here? Should I just borrow an AT&T Sim from a friend and try updating it that way? Will that cause any problems? Or should I try rooting my phone by another method and do the manual method then?
Sorry for the long post

Thanks for your reply. I did see that thread but the point is how do I root D80020y kitkat if stumproot is not working?

Yup tried that too. Not working. Guess will borrow ATT Sim from a friend and try upgrading that way. Hope that doesn't cause any issues.
Hello, I just downloaded the 5.0.2 OTA for my wifi Note 12.2. I have been wanting to root it but haven't really had the time. Now I need to decide whether to install the OTA. If I install it, will I lose the ability to root it later? A quick answer would be greatly appreciated.
Rooting is easy so no problem.
no
As far as installing it - I say DON'T
I AM NOT.
I have an LG G3 VS985 for Verizon. Since I am not directly on Verizon's service I can't receive the updates OTA. I am currently still on 4.4.2. What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to just install the updates through my PC instead but maybe without having to root the phone. I have found this guide that says it upgrades the phone to marshmallow but I don't want to do it if it will mess my phone up going from 4.4.2 to 6.0. If anyone has any suggestions to help me with this that would be great or if anyone thinks that guide will work just fine please let me know.
The guide I saw online is here: mylgphones.com/how-to-flash-android-6-0-m-stock-firmware-on-lg-vs985-using-lg-up-software
If you don't have any suggestions on how to do it without root then go ahead and let me know of a good root and rom to use that you'd suggest and I will check it out. Thanks!
bump
I'm getting an upgrade advice, but can't make to install it.
My phone is rooted.
Is there a guide how to do it?
Thanks in advance.
How did you root it, I have the 8.1 oreo and I do not know how to do it?
Thank you
