Heartrate monitor - Huawei Watch 2

Is it possible to stop the continual 24/7 heartrate monitoring? I want the Watch 2 to only monitor HR when I'm doing a fitness activity or if I manually ask it to display my HR. This 24/7 monitoring is unnecessary and I find it especially annoying when I remove my watch, put it into Airplane & Do Not Disturb mode and the green LEDs on the rear still flash all the time.

Pretty sure you can configure it in options.

You have to go into the heart rate application and swipe to the right twice and there is a toggle for automatic measurement I'm not sure whether you will need to turn this back on to do fitness activities with your watch though

Tried that but it doesn't stop the 24/7 HR tracking.
You need to also go into the Google Play Services app in system apps and disable the sensor tracking from there. Google tracking everyone and everything again.

Afaik this is the watch trying to detect if you are still wearing it, and lock if you aren't... This is just a guess. If you are paranoid, go to permission settings and turn off ALL health related permissions.

[Q] can tasker be automated to turn off location completely?

is it possible to get tasker to automatically turn on GPS when when screen is on, and turn off GPS when the screen is off(or the device is locked)
i tried for about 2 hours yesterday and ended up giving up the most i could get it to do is just toggle the location settings
are you trying to duck NSA surveillance or increase battery life? because getting that working would accomplish neither.

You will need secure settings plugin to do that, but yes, it should be possible.
I have a profile that enables GPS (active) only when I launch maps, and disables GPS (switch to battery saving mode in 4.4) when I exit maps.
In my case, disabling active GPS (i.e.. keep it in battery saving mode) helped random wakelocks from location reporting etc, Maps (navigation) is the only app that I use that needs active GPS. I don't have any other app that absolutely needs to have GPS coordinates for me.
Please use thread titles.

im trying to decrease wakelocks at night while sleeping. location + google now keeps my phone up almost all night. i just want to automate this instead of having to do it manually

If location is set to Battery saver mode, that should not cause battery life degradation. But if it is, then 'disabling GPS' is not what you want to do - you want to see how to disable location reporting entirely (exactly as what your updated title indicates).
I don't think secure settings has been updated to support that feature in 4.4 - but hopefully other forum members will have suggestions.

i dont know what to tell you then. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551846 shows tons of people with this issue
it doesn't drain battery while my phone is on and active. but when i lock the screen at night to sleep, my phone gets hardly any deep sleep mode. i took a shower yesterday and these two services woke my device up 96 and 44 times within a 20 minute span
i have already tried disabling location reporting and location history. this did not fix anything while my device was locked. it still had hundreds of wakeups at night
and i believe you're right. i dont think secure settings works with 4.4 either this is the issue i've been running into, i believe

It does work, but you first have to install the alternative helper in settings. Then Location Services will be enabled and you can turn it on and off when you want.

Sleep tracking / time control / night profile

Hello,
the missing sleep tracking ist terrible, it seems the last update changed nothing.
Is there an app allready?
Is there a possiblity to do a night profile (without gesture for screen on)?
Greetings, vastl
For sleep tracking I really suggest G'Night app. I have it for about a month and it's really good. Worth the 3 dollars it cost. Today the app got an update and added monitoring you're heartbeat and improve stat and graphs. The only minus is that you can't export the data out of the watch.
Sleep as android is great if you don't mind the battery drain and know how to install it. Its significantly better than gnight and its only $2 more. There's tons of settings and the data is stored on your phone so you can see much much more information.
As for a "night" profile, do not disturb turns off gestures and vibrations. Drag down from your watch face and tap the middle button. Just keep in mind you have to enable and disable it manually. There's no automation, which kinda sucks.
Agree it sux big time it is not implemented in an official way.
This is a functionality every smart-band out there have!
Is there not a app that uses just your watch? I don't want to lay my phone on my bed. I actually just want to track how often I wake up like on the fitbit.
I heard the makers of sleepbot are making an app for S2 Gear also.

That would be. G'night. Just make sure you also turn on airplane mode to get it to work well

I am using DnD mode. Whats difference between both? Airplane doesnt wake up at all?
OK here is my question for those of you doing sleep tracking. When do you charge your watch. Mine had about 40%battery left when I go too bed. Then when I get up there is only about 1 hour where I could charge before I leave for work.
I charge my watch before bedtime. When i wake up i have like between 80-88% battery left. With that i can wear the whole day the watch. At the evening it will be around 40-50%.

Airplane turns off BT, wifi and NFC so your watch is not communicating with your phone. DND just turns off notifications so your phone doesn't light up. I have DND on all the time to save battery. With G'night your phone wakes up briefly when it is taking your pulse

Is there anything that deactivates the rotating bezel, find it does not take much to wake the watch that way when sleeping

I enjoy seeing my sleep tracking data in Samsung S-health. The watch automatically records it, then uploads it automatically when you check S-health.
I saw some people having trouble where their sleep graph wouldn't show, to avoid this let the S2 upload the data, in other words, dont say yes i was asleep during such and such time, because that's your phone, not the watch info.

Sleep tracking, Inactivity and connecting with the S health app on my phone

Hey guys,
So, I can't get my Gear S2 to track my sleep and an even bigger problem is the inactivity tracking. Activity tracking only shows that I've been doing light activity. Every time I check. It just says Light activity both when being as inactive as I can be (playing on my pc) or being active to hell (sprinting and playing football). It's just reporting light activity. Now, how can I get it to record my sleep? Doesn't seem to do it automagically soo how can I make it start automatically or at least start it manually.
P.S. Also, how can I make it pair with the S Health App on my phone?
Gear s2 doesn't track sleep like the neo 2, and to connect with shealth should sync auto. Go into app and it should start the process

watchmaker battery drain

I have big concerns of consumption of battery with this application
Am I the only one?
You have can be trick?
Thank you
Some watch faces are too bright or consume too much battery in their always-on state. Try a watch face that has a dimmer always-on state, or take your favourite watch faces, and change their always-on state to have higher opacity.
I made a dial I same, quite black
I am going to try a reset of the watch, seen that nobody confirms me the same problem
I use this app(watchmaker) and consumption with always on display is approximately 25/30 % per day.
Wifi is switched off , Bluetooth used when needed.

Either some functionality on your watch is disabled or something is wrong here. No way, watchmaker can beat stock watchface. I loose 45-55 percent a day with stock gear dashboard watchface. AOD, wake-up gesture, shealth features and bluetooth on. Wifi auto. NFC, bt connection notifications off. Using GPS occasionally. Without AOD i can easily get 3 and a half day. I've never saw anyone claim to can get more than 2 days with AOD on on the forum before, so this is really confusing.
You can believe or not, but for me the battery consumption with watchmaker is lower than with stock Watchface. it is also true that some Watchface consume a little more, but we are talking about up to 10% more per day, i start to use Watch at 10am and remove Watch at 23pm,all' shealt notification on,wifi off,gps off, Bluetooth when needed,AOD always on,screen brightness 7. When use stock Watchface i lose 45/55% of battery per day.
I think I may have worked out what is going wrong, perhaps one of the developers can confirm,
under ‘my watches’ I have a number of other whatchfaces that I have downloaded, these aren’t selected on my watch but are there as an option, where as the chosen one only has basic functions, the others all have fancy meters, data sourcing apps - after deleting these from my phone and checking they are not available for selection on my watch the battery life seems to be normal, I wonder if the other watch faces are in some way working in the background and therefore draining the power even though I am not actually viewing them
It is Wi-fi connection what drains LOT of power. Be sure it is turned off when not in use to keep your power as long as possible.

Still terrible bAttery

I can't believe it, but after the new update I still cannot get a full day on the battery. is this normal with always on?
Not normal. turn auto heart rate off, turn s-voice off, use a dark background to conserve battery while always on, turn on inactive notifications, etc.....
Thanks I turned off some things I turned off everything except Bluetooth but now it doesn't seem to be changing the time or updating the weather for the location I just landed in. Is there something that has to be on besides Bluetooth? Or can I have every single thing off . thank you

Apps have intervals. For example, the heart rate sensor by default is set to 10 min. Imagine the impact that has on the battery. Same with weather. You can set your weather to check every hour but you must turn on your phones GPS. The watch doesn't know where you are if your phone's GPS is off. You pick and choose what notifications you need with intervals while others can be manually updated.
For the most part, I have everything off on my watch except for bluetooth. I manually update weather, heart rate, i dont use voice search on my watch (Google assistant on my phone; ok google), my gear is LTE and I turn that off to save battery, etc... mostly, I use my watch for notifications and answer phone calls when I drive. If your watch isn't changing time while bluetooth is on, you might want to try another watch face because that isn't normal.

I suggest also powering down when you notice rapid battery loss. Some times for no reason after charging overnight, my battery just starts draining fast. Powering down and then up fixes the problem. Also, double check no app is running more than you'd expect. When Samsung updated the Mail app recently on my Note 4, I noticed the my Gear S3 showed super high Mail app usage. I forced stop the Mail app, and then all went back to normal.
