I lose about 15-20 percent of my battery power overnight (8hrs). Bluetooth is off, only wifi is on, almost no messages recieved. This is more than other devices I've had in the past (1-10 percent). Standby battery rating : 2 out of 5

this is a known problem, it comes from google play and playstore services.
you must have RILJ first in the wakelock

What's an RILJ. Does it work with other phones as well

Going by thread 1878692 RILJ is a service that updates your location in the background. And on 7.1.1 it does so about 300 times per hour. The fix:
1) Open the google maps app.
2) Press the physical "menu" button on your phone to get into settings for maps.
3) Click on settings in the menu that pops up.
4) Click on "Location Settings" in the menu that comes up.
5) Wait a second for "Location reporting" to update.
6) Click on "Location reporting".
7) Choose the "Do not update your location" option.
8) You're done.

I've just checked this to see how much data it's used, 1mb since I've used the phone. Is this definitely spyware and is it really transmitting data?

I don't know any more than you see at the links above. 1mb isn't huge but might be enough to include lots of personal data. Or none - could just be a bit of housekeeping data where the phone checks for an OTA update.

Same, last night went to bed at 32% and woke up with 30%. It's MUCH IMPROVED from previous versions of Android.
Having major issues with Doze, with battery drain of between 15-20% overnight.

I should get my second replacement soon.
Just wanted to show that some users aren't experiencing the same battery life "Doze" is supposed to provide.
Have you turned off Wifi always scanning?
From full charge at 9pm i loose 3% when alarm goes off at 5:30 am
I've lost anywhere between 1%-5% overnight with doze. Not really sure why the difference either. When I look at the battery chart, it's showing very minimal "awakes" each night. Either way, this is much better than prior version of Android where I'd easily lose 7%-10% overnight.
One of my only gripes with doze is that it kills some helpful apps that haven't been updated yet. Timely, I'm talking about you... No more smart rise until there's an update.
I don't know exact numbers (haven't been checking that hardcore) but the battery graph looks damn near flat while my phone and I are "dozing."
Deep Sleep Battery Saver is a really great app to help reduce battery drain. I was struggling with my phone always being awake, even with aggressive doze mode and DSDS helped a lot.
It does require root because you need to make it a system app, though.

I'm getting a 5% drain in 2hrs dozing and apparent exchange services is the culprit any ideas? It survived a factory reset, cache wipe etc..

My guess is that the exchange services are treated as priority (just as with SMS and phone calls) and keep the phone from going into doze mode/continually waking it up.
I'd suggest using a third-party app for Exchange (such as Outlook or Cloudmagic, which is excellent) and remove the other exchange account. Doze will put those apps into hibernation unless you whitelist them in battery optimization. Give that a shot and see if the issue persists. I'm using Outlook and haven't had any frequent wake-up issues. My phone dozes like a baby.

battery is kinda disappointing for me because previously i was using (Xiaomi MiMax 2) which is 5300mah vs 4000mah.
I am losing 2% per hour in standby which is strange. (i have tried every possible solution so far but nothing worked i even tried disabling google stuff)
(maybe in andriod 10 update things will improve)

Yes bro but its not meant for Pakistan yet because Pakistan's Realme update page is not showing this update.
Well first of all its risky so its up to you if u want to update or not.
(I do not take any responsibility if something goes wrong or what works for me did not worked for you).
Do not take step 0 lightly
0. Go to your cell phone's "About Phone" and confirm that its EX version and not EXEU.
Here is what i did to update to Andriod 10
1. I went to Realme India website "https://www.realme.com/in/support/software-update"
2. From there i searched for "Realme XT Update" and downloaded it to my PC and then copied it to my cell phone.
3. By using file manager i opened the file (ozip file type) and it automatically restarted the phone and did update.
(I did not lose any data but i would advise you to save your data before updating)

Question Rog Phone 5 Battery Drain

So I've been using the Rog 5 for a week or so. I've noticed that ANDROID SYSTEM has a massive battery drain.
No matter which apps I use, wether it's YouTube, Chrome, WhatsApp or any gaming app, Android System always had a massive battery drain. This can't be normal can it?
I installed Better Battery Stats & Gsam Battery Monitor and found that Android System has got many Wakelocks too. I've attached screenshots for this, if anyone could help resolve these Wakelocks that would be amazing. Also if anyone could help to lower the Android System battery drain please.
On the better battery stats you will notice over 500 Wakelocks in 9 Hours ! Over 3 days that number is over 2000 Wakelocks
On my first full charge i have 6hrs screen on time and 40% left still cycling the battery for maximum performance. It would be interesting to see what apps can be disabled safely and any other battery saving tips people have here.

Dont know whether this is happening only for me. I also tried manual battery calibration by draining the battery and charging till 100 after that i even deleted batterystats.bin file manually. Still 8 or 9 hours max.
Should i change to any other modes in specific? Like i am currently in dynamic mode. Should i tweak into advanced and reduce anything? Or you guys are having a sot of 11 hours in dynamic mode only?

How do I access the root folder?
Also in location settings make sure you have WiFi scannibg off (it will say 'search for WiFi networks, even when WiFi is turned off') you'll find that in location menu. And if you go to developer options you'll come across something which says "Mobile data always active" turn that off too as it wastes battery for no reason.
Last but not least, go to Zentalk forum, Google it, it's Asus help forum and create a thread on there explaining you have high battery drain from Android System. They will fix it if we all report it
I have unlocked bootloader and rooted my my phone. With Root explorer or any other explorer with root permission you can access the folder.
I will disable that mobile data in developer options.
Thank you
I fully charged to 100% left overnight unplugged network standby took 2.5% and Android system was 0.2% and lost all together a total of 3% battery overnight. I think it needs to sleep better than that.
I updated to latest ww global firmware but mine is tincent version if i factory reset will it still stay on ww firmware? i think i need to do a reset. Also how do you do a hard reset via recovery on this is it safe?

Battery Drain Question

HI guys.. Before I buy the note 20 ultra I want to make sure battery drain isn't crazy. If you would please turn off bluetooth, wifi and data and only leave mobile phone on, how much battery would you drain in 12 hours? Would appreciate this feedback.
Consider a new N10+ N975U1 running on Android 10 for $800, or half that price used.
Overall a better, more dependable flapship; better form factor and display (less variable refresh rate).
Android 11 is problematic and 12 is fubar.
The N10+ running on 9 or 10 is a very functional, long lived and fun to use device. Snappy fast with 10hr SOT when optimized.

My SD variant NOTE20U has been doing pretty well. Even with instant messaging apps always running in the background, and BT earphones connected and data enabled, only ~2% of battery was consumed sleeping overnight. If those were turned off, maybe 1%?
I installed an app that can monitor real-time power draw. With some debloat and optimization, the screen on standby power draw is around 80mA of current, with some spikes to ~150mA, which is very good.

Not bad, 5G enabled, 120Hz RR, AOD off, enhanced processing speed enabled, instant messaging apps always running, and it gives me around 22hrs of total use time, ~7 hrs of SOT, ~14 hours of standby. Mainly watching videos, shopping apps, playing a few 3D games, and browsing social media.

Question Standby battery drain.

Hi. What kind of battery consumption do you have overnight?
On custom Roms plus like Battery Guru - anywhere around .3%-.5% idling. But even on like Beta + battery guru it's about .5-.8%. Straight beta with no root etc - about 1 - 1.5% - so android has it locked in pretty good imo.

Is that per hour, or total?
I saw this thread last night before bed and decided to check for myself. Phone was 63% @ 10:30 and 59% @ 7:30, so 4% for ~ 9 hours of standby (about 0.45% / hour).
Probably not the typical user, I have zero social media installed and get few texts overnight. I had only one this morning, spam about my Amazon account being locked (yeah, right). The only app that always runs in the background is an email program that checks two POP3 accounts every 15 minutes.
Stock, rooted, running Lawnchair 12 launcher.

Which is why I mentioned the things I thought relevant to create potential differences. There are probably more, but I would imagine they have diminishing impact on battery drain.
Normal drain on any build should be ~0.4-0.6%/hr. AOD will bump that to ~1-1.5%/hr. Anything more than that and you have something going on with an app, setting, or something else.
At my place, the consumption is 4% from 11 pm to 6 am. Is it possible to go lower? My Nord 2 used 2% max for the same amount of time. Often it was 1%.

When I get super low readings - sometimes like 2% drain over 10 hours...I tend to think it's more of an estimate that's skewed. I don't think in reality I'm ever really getting it that low.
The above averages are about right.
Maybe we need a 'rooted w/ batt tweaks' thread too...be interesting to see how much can be shaved off with various settings 'tactics'.
In Nord 2 in OxygenOs there is an option to additionally reduce the phone's activity during sleep. The phone then does not respond as often to notification detection. Maybe that's where the 2% results come from.
I get about .3-.5%/hour overnight on @stebomurkn420's crDroid.

Turn off cell data always active. If the screen is off it should sleep regardless of the signal.
There's a ton of apps that help with battery life and I like battery guru personally...but honestly, I tried just keeping my phone in battery saver mode and didn't see a difference in performance. I don't use it for gaming etc. so I'm pretty low tech...but just that was pretty killer if I remember.

That will be app specific. If you live on low signal cellular only (ie no WiFi) then just expect bad battery with this phone. The modem in these is inexcusably bad.
