Kamera app - HTC U11+ Questions & Answers

Hi there,
Love the phone so far.
Have one question.
When I click a photo I see the photo in a small extra window within the photo app. When I click on that, on my HTC U 11, the photo is opening, at the HTC U 11 plus it is not opening.
Are there settings how to activate this feature?
Thx a lot.
Schuertzi

Hello,
activate or install Google Fotos. I am used to uninstall all bloatware and use QuickPic. So I faced same issue. After installing Google Cam I tried to see the Motion Pictures. I activated Google Fotos. And the little Pic in the HTC Cam came to live. Hope it helps,
regards maj_o

Thx a lot.
This works.
I have an HTC U 11 running with Nougat, there Gold Photos is even not installed, and it works. May be an Oreo thing.
But good, that it works.
Thx again
Schuertzi

Sorry,
Not Gold Photos, Google Photos.

[App] Camera & Gallery App from S4 Google Edition

Hi there.
A new camera mod/app from S4 Google Edition has leaked. You can install it like a normal app and you don't lose your Sense camera! I gave it a short try and it seems to work, but i had not enough time to test all (especially photosphere, but it should do). Also the Gallery is included.
If you wanna try, you can download here: http://goo.gl/02po9
Credits for download link @ caschy from stadt-bremerhaven.de
This works on the Boost mobile variant but I couldn't pick the image quality so the pictures didn't come out good.

I did not change the img quality (its on 5 mp) and for me it works. All pics are fine and i can watch them on gallery.
I have just tried it on my stock K2_UL running 4.1.2. It installs just fine, the gallery app works, the camera starts, but it doesn't seem to be able to focus properly, even in perfect lighting conditions.
Working GREAT on my Boost SV. Thanks bro.
Nice that it work for you bro, you got a pm.
The gallery is awesome but the camera app could have been better..

I use always sense 5 camera.
I think the most interesting feature of this camera here is photosphere.
Change photo/video storage location?
I installed this on my hTC One SV on Boost mobile. The camera stores videos/pictures on the internal phone storage partition. Is there any way to modify this app so it stores the photos/videos on the external SD card? I've tried going into Settings->Storage & changing camera storage location there. This camera does not seem to be affected by that setting.
Thank you for your help...
As it seems that S4 Google Edition has no external sdcard i don't think that there is an option for that.
This camera works better than the stock/Sense5 one. Stock camera often takes blurry photos.

...but it causes random freezes, like i explained in another thread:
I believe that my problems lie in S4 Camera app and not in internal memory switch or dropbox... That saddens me, because S4 Camera app produced much better pics than the stock Sense camera
I dont know why and how those freezes happen, but it happens after taking the picture, when screen turns off. When phone freezes, picture (file) gets corrupted and unreadable.
I also remember one time happening when gallery (S4) remained opened and phone screen turned off.
While i had dropbox auto-sync enabled it happened more often, but turning it off didnt make the problem to go away, rather it made it happen slightly more rarely.

If anyone has a solution, or advice on the matter (that does not involve removing the app ) i would appreciate it.

[Q] bad photo results with google camera app?

Hi
I tried to take a photo for a white wall with flash in dark room.
What made me feel bad with google camera app is there are two area divided on the photo shown in the attachment
Meanwhile, the stock camera app was just fine as normal.
I'm using opo 64g with blisspop 1.4, any idea?
Thanks
I've never liked the Google Camera anyway, the stock one is as good as can be for normal users anyway.

Bro, you should never attach you're emotional well being to a camera app. You can never give a truly objective GPlay Store review if you do this. I would think that by hanging your emotions on a camera app would just be a determinant to your health in general.
It's a known issue when you make photos with flashlight with the Google Camera.
You can turn off the flashlight...
After many camera app testings, Camera FV5 rocks. Of course full version.
Even had problems with stock camera, got pixelated lines when i recorded video.
In FV5 no problems.
Good luck.

Default Gallery App Change

Hi
Seems like Google Photo's is hard coded to be the default picture viewer.
If you install something else you are not prompted to choose the new default as you would expect.
Disabling google photo's and trying to force new default doesn't work either.
Perhaps with future ROM?
Anything anyone achieved without root etc. till now? Thanks.
Reorienting back and recent keys seems like a no go either, what do people do to get round that?
Thanks for any tips already.

For remapping the buttons the app from Flar2 works.

Tryna different camera. Counterintuitive? Maybe. Probably. Definitely. But you will get the option that you want.
But this has ALWAYS been the case with HTC. I have installed the HTC camera app on other phones, and it was imperative to have the HTC Gallery app to be able to review the photos after they are taken. I know that it's a different gallery app that we are taking about, but I think have the Camera App is the real issue here. The app defines the default photos app.
I may be wrong, but that's something that I discovered a while back.

You could use a custom rom like leedroid, there you can define your favorite app for pictures and it will launch from the camera.
And you can use custom roms without root.

Sure I know about that, it was just a hint to the right direction.
There are some very good guides for it.
What if you sideload the old Gallery app?

install htc album from apk mirror, then disable the google photos app. It should default to htc album then.
It should but it doesn't, and I don't know why... When I disable google photos and install htc gallery nothing hapens when I try to open photos from camera.
Any fix for this yet?
Would love to see a fix too!
I got around all the little issues with Photos by disabling that app.
Then got "QuickPic" from Google Play and made it Gallery app in it's settings.
Aggravation instantly gone. Works fine without giving an argument about everything.

on our rom you can pick any gallery app as preview album in the camera app.
I've tried many apps as I've never really used Google photos before and had no luck with any. But I've started to like it now. Especially since they added opening straight to albums in the settings.

Does anyone knows a good, smooth Photo App?

Hi,
As HTC Album is not avaiable for the U11 (does anyone knows why?) I have noticed that the Goople Foto App is crap. It have the same folder for Fotos, Videos, WhatsApp, Self-nemed-Folder like seen in HTC Album, but it needs 8 seconds to start up, and if I scroll down up to 2 Minutes (!) to display Fotos older then a month! Absolute unacceptable!
May that happens because I have disabled the sync with google -but I don't want to get my Fotos (taken, and/or saved from other sources) online. (there is no "cloud" -there is just another owned computer!) I make my backups for myself.
If there is a good Foto App out there which compare with these minimal requirements? (Sort and don't need to be synced)
Best regards
Try quickpic from play store:

Oh, yes! That seems to be a very good app! Thank you very much, Sir!
I suggest also piktures. It seems little better

I'm running viper Rom and it has HTC album app.
You can enable Sense 7 apps, including HTC Gallery, when installing.
I agree about the Photos app and dirty flashed the Rom without Photos.
But in stock HTC Gallery is replaced, unfortunately.

If you are using the Google camera it works. Only with stock app have that problem. IMO HTC gallery is much better than Google gallery.
simple gallery aps god appa, htc gallery works for htc u11 but use photo editor not working
Again, with Viper ROM I only have the HTC Gallery app and it does launch through the camera app. The photo editor also works including face swap, etc. There are no issues at all. Plus the VIper ROM is pretty sick...
I am using motorola gallery app,it's great and u can add photos in a really nice way,not just filters, almost like snapseed app, found it here

I've been on viper from day one, so I just flash the update over my existing setup. I'd flash an older version that has it, then flash 1.8 on top

Now I haven't actually updated to 1.8 yet, but I have downloaded it and you had me wondering so I took a look, and I believe it is still there. And I am glad cause I can't stand Google photos app.

Camera color correction settings

Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video

Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview

This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.
Another example.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash
